JEREMIAH FISHER— is the golden boy who always displays that radiant smile for everyone, but there is only one person that is the reason behind his infectious personality. His childhood pen pal and the love of his life— Cariona Hirano. He and Cariona made a pact to always visit each other every summer and they never broke it. Until she did.

When Cariona vanished last summer, devoid of any form of contact, Jeremiah did everything in his power to try and search for her, but he came up with the same result. Nothing.

She disappeared completely and so did Jeremiah's heart.

However, when she unexpectedly barges into his life this summer, Jeremiah is overcome with relief but is also twisted with unadulterated betrayal. He attempted to contain that feeling of bitter indignation though when he notices it will be difficult to ignore his best friend more than he realized, Jeremiah also senses the behavior changes in the girl he'd loved all his life.

He lost her once, and he'd be damned to lose her again, even if it means battling the demons Cariona acquired within the year she vanished.

CARIONA "RINA" HIRANO — used to look forward to every summer seeing the boy she has been in love with ever since she was a kid. Cariona wanted to declare a consequential sentiment that summer until she found out that the manipulation of a supposed friend can be more challenging to be released from than she thought. She did everything in her power to protect the ones she loved, but this time, she had to put herself first. Mentally and physically.

When Cariona arrives at Cousins and sees the ocean eyes of her best friend, secrets seemed to be easier kept rather than said.

Maybe not everyone deserves to be rescued.
