EVE SHOT UP from her position on the couch when she heard someone banging on the door of their trailer.

At first, she didn't know who it could be, but when the memories of the shit that happened the previous night suddenly hit her, she immediately thought it could be Eddie.

Secretly, she hoped it would be Eddie. She hoped he would show up on her doorstep just so she could make sure he was ok after the previous night.

When she opened the door, however, she was met with a disgruntled, slightly terrified looking police officer. Eve's bloodshot eyes widened slightly as the police officer took off his sunglasses.

"Are you Mary Porter?" The question made Eve's skin crawl when she heard it, but nonetheless, she shook her head in response.

"No, I'm her daughter, Eve." The man gave a small nod as he looked down, writing Eve's name down in the small blue book he was holding.

As she leaned over, she saw that he had written her name in bold black ink.

"My name is Officer Powell. Is it alright if I ask you a few questions about last night, Miss Porter?" Eve gulped slightly, not loud enough for the officer to hear, but loud enough for her to be aware of it.

"Uh, yeah... right now?" The officer hummed, making Eve open the door further, only for him to wave his hand. "I'd prefer to do it outside."

Eve closed the door upon hearing the officer's reply. "Now, Miss Porter-" Eve felt strange cutting off a police officer, but if he was gonna say 'Miss Porter' one more time, she would lose it.

"It's Eve. Please, just Eve."

"Ok, Eve. Were you home last night between the hours of eight and midnight?"

She didn't know why, but talking to the officer made her feel nervous even if she didn't do anything wrong, but she guessed it had to do with the fact that she would have to lie to him in order to preserve her own reputation.

Her mother was already known for her psychological problems, and if Eve told the truth, that her brother had superpowers and that there was another realm below Hawkins, she would be laughed at.

"Yeah, but I just played a game with my brother before we went to bed." Her mind went through every game in her and Gabe's bedroom, so she was prepared if he asked her what they were playing.

"Did you see anything suspicious going on in that trailer over there?" Eve remained nervous, trying to calm herself down. "Eddie Munson's trailer? No, nothing. Why? Are you looking for him?"

The officer scribbled more notes down as Eve played with her fingers to avoid eye contact.

"Are you sure you didn't hear anything? No screaming? No struggling?"

By now, Eve had actually become concerned because of the Officer's words. Was Eddie dead? Did the monster Gabe saw kill him?

"Officer, what's going on?" As if on queue, a body bag was rolled out of Eddie's trailer, making the pit in Eve's stomach grow.

"Who..." It was as if the officer knew what she had seen before even turning around. "I'm afraid that's classified information. Though, if Mr Munson tries to contact you in any way, don't hesitate to call."

Eve's eyes remained fixed on the body bag, but she nodded at the officer's words.

"Good day, Eve." Eve didn't even bother replying back. She couldn't. Not when there was literally a body being rolled out of Eddie's trailer.

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw someone staring at her, and before she knew it, a familiar redhead stood on her doorstep.

"Max?" Eve's eyes still looked heavy and bloodshot, and Max noticed the scrapes on her knees as she looked down.

"Can I come in? I need to talk to you." Max said anxiously, causing Eve to mindlessly step out of the way, allowing Max to enter.

Eve moved the blanket she had been sleeping under out of the way so Max could sit down before she slowly closed the door, still staring at the officers standing outside. The redhead gave her a strange look.

"Did you sleep on the couch?" Eve nodded as she rubbed her eyes, sitting down beside Max. "Just for a bit. I couldn't sleep last night."

Eve could tell Max was gonna ask her why, but she didn't have the strength to tell her. Eve did not know what happened herself, and the way Gabe explained it was not exactly sufficient for her to explain to Max.

"What did you wanna talk about?" Eve asked, trying to quickly change the subject before Max could ask her another question.

"Did the lights flicker last night in here?" Max asked, making Eve feel even more on edge about the whole situation.

"Why?" Eve countered with another question. It was a habit she had when she was nervous about something, and Max took notice immediately.

"Just answer the question. Please, Eve." Somehow, Eve knew Max had seen something, and she felt her heart skip a beat.

"Yeah, the lights flickered." Max jumped up after Eve answered her question, causing the blonde to jump up with her.

"Wait, where are you going?" Eve asked as Max made her way to the door. "I need to talk to Dustin."

Before Max could touch the doorhandle, though, Eve stopped her. "Stop! Just... wait for me. I'll be right out. We'll go together."
