[SEASON 2: EPISODE 9]
THE SOUND of the door opening made Katherine pause the movie she was currently watching. Her eyes moved toward the door as it opened, her mother stepping inside the room.
Amanda held a warm smile as she went over and sat down on the edge of the bed. "Hey, sweetheart. I just wanted to let you know that your father and I are going out later."
Katherine's eyebrows raised. "Lobster night at the country club?" She guessed, a smirk playing on her lips.
Amanda chuckled, nodding her head in confirmation. "Yeah. How about you? You gonna stay in bed watching movies?"
It was Katherine's turn to nod her head. "That's the plan."
Amanda smiled in response, leaning forward to kiss her head. "Alright. Have fun, make good choices. Make sure Anthony doesn't eat all the cookies I made."
A laugh bubble from Katherine's lips as she nodded. "Can't make any promises."
The mother chuckled, shaking her head fondly before her lips formed into a soft smile. "I know I don't have to worry about you."
As Amanda left the room, a notification ding sounded from Katherine's phone. She reached over and grabbed her phone from atop the side table and opened it up.
Moon: Hey, Kat! There's a party at my place and I'd love for you to come. You in?
Katherine smiled at the message, her fingers flying over the small keyboard on her phone screen to type out a reply.
Katherine: Sure. Thanks, Moon.
...
KATHERINE took about hour to get ready for Moon's party. Well, first she took a shower. Then, she took a long while to pick out a casual, yet pretty outfit for said party.
Katherine twirled around in front of the mirror, checking herself out to see if there was anything wrong. She brought her hands up to her hair and raked her fingers through it, setting her brown hair to lay against her shoulders.
After putting her necessary things into her purse, she put it over her and walked out of the room and down the stairs. Katherine didn't see Samantha or Anthony, but she assumed that Anthony was most likely playing video games in his room.
As for Samantha, well, she could most definitely take care of herself. Besides, Katherine was going to be back from the party soon.
It took around ten minutes to drive to Moon's house since it was pretty far away. But when Katherine finally got there and parked her car on the side of the road, she saw so many other cars parked around Moon's house.
Her eyes slightly widened. Moon invited a lot of people from school.
When Katherine climbed out of her car and began walking toward Moon's house, she didn't notice the figure who started walking beside her until they finally spoke.
"Hey."
Katherine turned her head to find Isaiah with his usual charming smile on his face. Her eyebrows raised slightly. "Oh, hi." She smiled.
Isaiah glanced around. "There's a lot of people out here already." He remarked.
"Yeah, Moon must've invited other kids from school."
When Katherine turned her head the other way, her eyes widened as she spotted Samantha and Robby along with the other Miyagi-Do kids.
Her eyes fluttered shut in slight annoyance at the sight of the couple. She wanted to do something fun without them there.
Just when she thought that this party could be a way to get her mind off of things, it found a way to bring the two people that she didn't really want to see.
When they walked inside, Katherine froze at the sight of Cobra Kai around the couch area. She scoffed and rolled her eyes.
Just when she thought that things couldn't get any worse. "Of course they're here." Katherine muttered under her breath irritably.
When Katherine made eye contact with Aisha, a small smile formed on her lips and she waved at her. Smiling softly, Aisha copied the girl's actions.
The sliding patio doors opened with Miguel and Tory stepping inside. When Tory's eyes landed on Katherine, she sent a smile, but it quickly diminished when her eyes drifted to Samantha.
Briefly eyeing Samantha up and down, Tory turned back to Miguel standing beside her. "Let's go."
With a single nod, Miguel and Tory walked away just as Moon came to them with a large smile on her face. "Sam! I'm so glad you came! The kegs are out back, drinks are in the kitchen, and the vegan pigs in a blanket just got out of the oven."
Crossing her arms over her chest, Samantha glanced back at Cobra Kai before looking up to Moon, her voice lowering. "Moon, you never said anything about inviting Cobra Kai."
"Well, I figured with summer ending and school starting back up, we could stop all the fighting and be friends again."
"It's wishful thinking."
"Sam, trust me. Get rid of all this negative energy. Clear your chakras and have some fun." Moon's smile brightened as she walked away from the group.
...
When Katherine went outside to the patio, her eyes widened at the sight of many people surrounding the middle.
There were two stools directly across from each other with at least five feet of distance. It was a drinking game.
On one of the stools, a boy stood on top of it with his back facing Katherine. A girl with brown curly hair stood on top of the stool across from it.
Red solo cups were in both of their hands as they drank the alcohol, one of their legs perched up.
The boy was clearly struggling because he was stumbling from standing on the stool with one foot, and the drinks were making his mind fuzzy.
But the girl across from him seemed to have no care in the world. Once her cup was empty, she crushed it and threw it on the ground.
Katherine winced at the loud cheering and congratulating noises coming from the audience standing around the both of them.
As the boy was about to finish his drink, he suddenly lost his footing on the stool and fell off, hitting the ground with a thud.
A few people who Katherine assumed were his friends helped him stand up while the girl simply smirked at her accomplishment.
"Alright!" Big Red shouted, clapping his hands in cheering. "And Lilah stays undefeated!"
Lilah's eyes darted across everyone, until they stopped on Katherine. Her head tilted slightly as a look of recognition crossed her features.
Tory had told her about Samantha and Katherine LaRusso and basically filled her in on all of the drama happening.
Lilah smirked, jumping down from the stool and taking steps toward the brunette. Katherine's eyes slightly widened when she saw Lilah approaching her.
Lilah stuck out her index finger to point at Katherine. "You're Katherine, right?" Her voice came out a bit slurry, almost as if she was trying to sound taunting.
Katherine's eyebrows pulled together as she nodded her head. "Yeah, why?"
Lilah's eyebrows raised slightly. "Well, maybe you'd like to play a little game?" She offered with a sickly sweet smile.
"No thanks." Katherine shook her head.
A scoff tumbled from Lilah's lips as she rolled her eyes. "What? You'd rather have tea parties?"
"I'm not playing a drinking game with you." Katherine denied again, frustration starting to bubble within her from how persistent Lilah was being.
As she turned to walk back into the house, Lilah's voice stopped her again. "Oh, so you're scared that you'll lose? Huh, LaRusso?"
With a clenched jaw, Katherine turned around, a look of determination forming in her eyes. "Fine, then. Give me a cup."
Lilah smirked as she walked back to her stool and hopped on it. Katherine did the same, and the audience started rooting for who they wanted to win.
Just when Big Red handed Lilah a red solo cup, the sliding patio doors opened and Isaiah, Robby, and Samantha walked out.
Their eyes widened when they saw Katherine standing on the stool, grabbing the cup that Big Red held out.
When Isaiah's eyes landed on Lilah, his eyes widened even more. Lilah looked at him, scoffing and shaking her head.
"Kat, what are you doing?" Samantha quickly questioned, walking toward her.
Katherine ignored her and kept her eyes on an amused Lilah across from her. Robby and Isaiah took a stand on either side of Samantha, watching Katherine with worried eyes.
"Drink! Drink! Drink! Drink! Drink! Drink!" The crowd began to chant, punching the air with excited expressions on their faces as they awaited the game to start.
"Legs up!" Big Red yelled through the obnoxious noise. "Three, two, one!"
Without hesitation, both of the girls drank the liquid in their cups. Lilah was the first one to finish, and she crushed the cup, throwing it to the ground. "Can't even handle the first drink?" Lilah taunted.
Katherine closed her eyes in annoyance and tilted her head back, guzzling her drink and tossing it on the ground.
After a few more drinks, Katherine was beginning to stumble a bit on the stool. She managed to finish the drink currently in her hand and drop the empty cup on the ground.
"How you doing over there, LaRusso?" Lilah questioned teasingly, her head tilting to the side slightly, her brown eyes flashing with amusement.
"I'm doing pretty great, thanks for asking." Katherine replied sarcastically, keeping her voice from shaking.
A sardonic chortle escaped from Lilah's lips, her eyebrows moderately lifting. "Yeah?" She turned to Big Red. "Big Red, two shots of vodka."
Worry flickered across Robby's features as he took a step toward Katherine, looking up at her. "Kat, I don't think you should do this."
Since she was drunk, the words that tumbled from Katherine's mouth were slurred. "And why should I listen to you?" She snapped, looking down at him.
Robby almost flinched from how harsh her words sounded, and he took a small step back. He shook his head lightly. "Kat, I'm just trying to―"
"Give it to me." Katherine him off, turning to Big Red. He smirked, holding out the shot cup to her. She leaned forward and grabbed it.
"Ready?" Lilah asked, bringing the cup to her lips and allowing the liquid to fall down her throat.
Katherine stumbled on the stool, but she inhaled deeply and shut her eyes, trying to remain calm.
Once she opened her eyes, she brought the cup up to her lips and chugged it down. With the empty cup in her hand, she threw it on the ground.
A scoff left Lilah's lips, annoyance crossing her features.
"You got this, Lilah!" Someone from the crowd shouted, clapping their hands.
Lilah turned to the crowd at the sudden yell, but when she started to turn back to Katherine, she stumbled on her stool and lost her footing.
She fell off of the stool and hit the ground with a thud. A groan escaped her lips at the abrupt pain that shot to her back.
"Huh. Guess I did win after all." Katherine smirked at the fallen Lilah who looked up at her and sent her a hard glare.
...
Katherine stumbled on the way to one of Moon's guest rooms. Her eyes felt droopy from how much she had drank, and she felt like she couldn't think properly.
When she entered the room, she pushed the door to close but it didn't close all the way. Katherine didn't seem to notice since she walked over and plopped on the bed.
A searing headache began to form and Katherine groaned, her hand reaching up to feel her warm forehead.
She didn't even realize she was starting to cry until she felt the salty tears streaming down her flushed cheeks. Katherine sniffled, wiping her sudden tears away.
"Why the fuck am I crying?" Katherine muttered to herself, her voice wobbly.
Deep breaths left her lips as she closed her eyes momentarily, throwing her head back into the soft pillows. She didn't hear the door to the room open until footsteps approached her.
Katherine's eyes snapped open, landing on Robby who had just came in. "Why are you here?"
"Why are you here in the dark?" Robby retorted, glancing around the room.
"I like the dark."
With a small nod, Robby took a couple of steps toward her and sat down on the edge of the bed. "You feeling okay?" He questioned, his voice more softer.
Katherine rolled her eyes. "I'm fine. Why do you care?"
Robby frowned at her words. "Kat, you know I care about you. Why would you even ask that?"
"Oh, you care about me?" Katherine slurred, raising her eyebrows. "You know what? I'm not talking about this right now."
She started to get up from the bed, but Robby tugged on her arm and pulled her back down gently. "Come on, Katherine. Can we at least have one conversation?"
"What am I supposed to say, Robby?" Katherine snapped, yanking her arm from his grasp. "That I like you? That it broke my heart when I saw you and Sam kiss?"
He closed his eyes for a moment, but when he opened them, he looked down to his feet as if they were the most interesting thing in the entire world. "I―It's complicated."
"Complicated?" She repeated incredulously with a scoff. "How? If you liked Sam, then you could've talked to me about it instead of making me think that we had something."
A frustrated sigh left his lips. "Yeah, well, maybe we don't have something. What am I supposed to say, Katherine?"
"I don't know!" Katherine exclaimed, throwing her hands up in the air. "You're the one who wanted to have a conversation. That's what we're having, right?"
"Yeah, but I wanted to clear the air." Robby snapped. "You're the one who's making it difficult when I'm trying to talk to you."
"Okay, then, talk!"
"Look, Sam and I are together, okay?" He shook his head, gesturing between himself and Katherine. "You and I...we can never happen." His voice came out quiet and hesitant, his green eyes staying glued to the floor.
Katherine flinched at his words, tears glistening her eyes. But she held them back, and she forced a scoff to come out. "You know what? Fine. If that's what you want."
She got up from the bed, ignoring Robby's protests as she marched out of the guest room with a heavy sigh escaping her lips.
...
When Katherine came to the living room, her eyes slightly widened at the sight of the Cobra Kai kids standing across from the Miyagi-Do kids.
"Stay out of it, traitor." Mitch was saying to Chris angrily.
Katherine scoffed, taking a stand beside Chris. "Maybe you should shut the fuck up." She retaliated.
Hawk's eyes drifted toward his former best friend. "Get out of here, Katherine."
"Hey, don't speak to her, asshole." Isaiah walked up beside Katherine, glaring directly at Hawk.
A sarcastic laugh came from Lilah. "Or what?" She stood next to Hawk with her arms folded, her head tilted to the side slightly.
"Guys!" Moon's frantic voice cut in as she stood in between the two groups. "Stop, we're friends."
Before anything could happen, the roaring sound of sirens filled everyone's ears, signaling that the cops were here.
"Cops!" Someone screamed.
Instantly, everyone started shuffling to get out of the house before the cops could capture them.
Loud yells were coming from everywhere, and Katherine's head was starting to throb, the headache getting even worse than before.
She reached up to touch her temples, and she closed her eyes to try and remain calm, but the thundering sirens mixed with all of the ear-splitting screams made her feel overwhelmed.
Before Katherine could even comprehend what was happening, a hand grasped her wrist and pulled her out of the house.
Her mind felt fuzzy and foggy, the only thing she could process was that she was being dragged somewhere.
When her eyes started to finally adjust, they landed on Isaiah who had just dragged her to his car. He opened the passenger door and gently helped her inside.
"Can you put on your seatbelt?" Isaiah questioned, his voice sounding rushed.
Katherine managed a small shake of her head, her hands beginning to feel clammy and shaky.
Isaiah licked his lips and leaned forward to put Katherine's seatbelt on before closing the door and going to the driver's side to climb inside the car.
"Wait, where's Sam?" Katherine questioned, glancing around.
"Don't worry." Isaiah assured. "I saw Robby take her."
Even though Katherine and Robby weren't exactly on good terms, she still trusted him with Samantha, so she managed a small nod in response.
