๐…๐‘๐„๐˜๐€ leaned over the diner, moving some of her baby hairs that where sticking out of the messy bun on top of her head.

She poured coffee into the mug of a regular, Leonard.

"Agnes not in today?" He asked, sipping his hot, unflavored coffee.

"Not yet." She smiled, "She'll be taking over for me soon. I've been here for just about twelve hours."

Leonard nodded, both of their eyes shooting to the phone ringing in her apron pocket.

"Excuse me." She pulled out her phone as she walked to the back, an unknown number but a familiar voice.

"Freya?" It was Pogo, he sounded distraught.

"Pogo? Hey, what's wrong?" Freya asked, her eyebrows narrowing.

"It's your father, I'm afraid he passed away last night. I've gotten ahold of your siblings, It would be nice if you came down to the academy
Some time tomorrow. I will let you know more when I know."

She was shocked, her response taking a few seconds to come out "I- okay."

โ€”

Freya couldn't believe it, she was sitting in her car in front of her old home.

The place she grew up in, where she was trained, where she put herself in a coma looking for the boy she had fallen in love with.

Sighing, she removed the keys from the engine and stepped out of her car.

Her heels clicked against the wet road, her hair pulled back in to a half up pony tail.

When she stepped inside, she was hit with wave of remembrance.

Everything that ever happened in that house came back to her.

Freya didn't see anyone when she looked around, so she wandered in farther, next to the stairs where she saw Alison and Vanya hugging.

"Was I not invited in to this hug?" She asked, smiling despite the hard time.

"Freya." Vanya and her walked closer to each other, Freya wrapping her arms around her, the gesture being returned.

"I see you're still a big hugger." Her sister joked, letting go of her and letting her walk towards Alison.

"What's she doing here?" Diego's stern voice said, talking about Vanya "You don't belong here. Not after what you did."

Vanya had expected comments about her Tell-all book involving life as a member of the academy.

"Seriously, you're gonna do this today?" Alison scoffed "Way to dress for the occasion, by the way."

"At least I'm wearing black."ย
He was, a black skin tight suit with holsters attached to it.

"You know what, he's right. Maybe I shouldn'tโ€”" Vanya started, Alison stopping her "Forget about him. We're glad you're here."

Freya nodded her head, offering one last smile before going up the stairs behind them.

Once she got up there, the first room she stepped in to was her own.

Nothing had changed since she'd last seen it, which wasn't that long ago.

What stuck out to her was the old school radio on her nightstand.

She remembered when Five would sneak in to her room at night.

When they'd dance to 'stand by me' every-time it played.

When she'd complain about how unflattering there pajamas where and he'd tell her she looks just fine.

Freya walked out of her bedroom and into her father's office, where he'd always be too busy doing 'work' to pay them any mind.

This time she saw Alison and Klaus hugging, standing by his desk.

They spoke, not noticing her until she cleared her throat while walking over to them.

"Freya! You're- you're- you haven't aged a day, I didn't even know you were alive." Klaus stuttered, bringing her in for a hug that she gladly returned.

"I think I'm alive at least. What are you guys doing in here?"

"Well, I- just came to see if dad was really dead. Which he is." Klaus frowned at first, then smiling and clapping.

Freyas eyes moved down to his wrist, a rehab wristband on.

"You know how I know? Because if he wasn't not one of us would be allowed to step foot in this room. He was always in here, our whole childhood. Plotting his next torment, right?" He chuckled, pointing up to Reginald's portrait "Remember how he used to look at us? That scowl? Thank goodness he's not our real father so we couldn't inherit those cold, dead eyes."

Klaus pulled his eyes open, mocking "Number three."

The three stopped laughing when they heard Luther's voice "Get out of his chair."

Luther was big.

He was weirdly buff and tall.

"Oh, wow, Luther. You really uh..you really filled out over the years huh?"ย  Klaus said, pretending to flex.

"Klaus."

"Save the lecture Luther, I was already leaving. You guys can- talk amongst yourselves." He walked, Luther stopping him with one hand "Drop it."

"Ex-squeeze me?" Klaus asked, acting innocent.

"Do it. Now."

"Alright, Alright." Klaus shook Luther off, walking back over to the desk and dropping everything he had taken from it "It's just an advance, on our inheritance. That's all it is. No need to get your little panties in a bunch."

Klaus rolled his eyes, walking out and shutting the door.

"Woah, no welcome back?"

Luther noticed Freya for the first time, only
because she was now standing in front of
him.

"Freya- wow, I- you look the same I didn't even notice-" He stammered, Freya standing on her tippy toes and patting his shoulder "Thanks, Luther. I'll leave you guys to it."

Walking past Klaus holding something of there dads, she sighed.

"Just an advance!" He yelled as she walked down the stairs.

She poured herself a glass of the fruitiest vodka she could find at the bar, Sitting on the couch in silence.

The rest of the academy started to make there way in to the room, everyone finding a place to
sit and not saying a word.

Alison sipped on a glass of whiskey, Luther standing up "Um, I guess we should get this started. So I figured we could have some sort of memorial service, in the courtyard at sundown. Say a few words, at dad's favorite spot."

Klaus poured himself a glass of alcohol in the back, Alison asking "Dad has a favorite spot?"

"You know, under the oak tree. We use to sit out there all of the time, none of you knew that?"

"Will there be refreshments? Tea, scones? Cucumber sandwiches are always a winner." Klaus added, walking up with a full glass in his hand.

"What? No? And put that out dad didn't allow smoking in here." Luther said, referring to the joint in Klaus' mouth.

"Is that my skirt?!" Alison asked.

"What? Oh, yeah, this. I found it in your room. It's a little dated, I know, but it's very breathable on the bits." Klaus answered, dancing around a little.

Freya smirked, standing up next to him and silently asking for a hit.

"Freya, you bad, bad girl." Klaus smiled, meeting her eyes as she held the joint in between her fingers.

"Listen up. Still some important things we need to discuss, alright?"

"Like what?" Diego asked, Freya continuing to mow the grass.

"The way he died." Luther responded.
"Here we go."

"I don't understand-" Vanya started "I thought they said it was a heart attack."

"Yeah according to the coroner."

"Well wouldn't they know?" Freya asked, blowing smoke out as her mouth opened.

"Yeah, theoretically."

"Theoretically?" Klaus took his weed back, Luther continuing.

"I'm just saying, at the very least, something happened. The last time I talked to dad, he sounded strange."

"Oh, quelle surprise!" Klaus giggled, Alison holding her hand out at him "strange how?"

"He sounded on edge. Told me I should be careful who I trust."

Freya spoke up from her spot on the couch, "When I woke up from my coma a few years back he barely spoke a word to me, just told me if he couldn't do tests on me I had to leave. So I was out."

"He was a paranoid, bitter, old man who was starting to loose what was left of his marbles." Diego said, standing up.

"No. He must have known something was gonna happen." Luther turned to Klaus "Look, I know you don't like to do it but I need you to talk to dad."

Klaus furrowed his brows, pointing at himself as Alison scoffed.

"I can't just call Dad in the afterlife and be like, 'Dad could you just stop playing tennis with hitler for a moment and take a quick call?'"

"Since when? That's your thing."

"I'm not in the right..frame of mind." Luther and Klaus bickered.

"You're high?" Alison sassed,

"Yeah, Yeah! I mean how are you not, listening to this nonsense?"

"Well sober up this is important. Then there's the issue of the missing monocleโ€”" Luther started again, Diego cutting him off.
"Who gives a shit about a stupid monocle?"

"Exactly. It's worthless. So whoever took it, I think it was personal. Someone close to him, someone with a grudge."

"Where are you going with this?!"

"Oh, isn't it obvious Klaus? He thinks one of us killed dad." Diego said, everyone's faces changing to different reactions.

"You do?!" Klaus asked in a dramatic tone, Vanya asking "How could you think that?"

"Great job, Luther. Way to lead." Diego scoffed.

"Thats not what I'm saying." Luther defended, Klaus sitting up with a pointed finger "You're crazy, man. You're crazy. Crazy."

Diego and Klaus both started to walk out, "I'm not finished!"

"Okay, well, sorry. I'm just gonna go murder mom and I'll be right back." Klaus twirled.

Everyone else walked out too, Alison being the last as Luther tried to stop her.

Freya went back up to her room, sitting on the bed with her legs crossed, reaching over to her radio and clicking on it.

It played familiar song, one that reminded her of a certain someone.

She turned the volume all the way up.

"Children, behave"
That's what they say when we're together
"And watch how you play"
They don't understand

Freya stood up, easing in to the music.

[Pre-Chorus]
And so we're running just as fast as we can
Holding on to one another's hand
Trying to get away into the night
And then you put your arms around me
As we tumble to the ground and then you say

Freya danced around her room, flipping
her pony tail.

I think we're alone now
There doesn't seem to be anyone around
I think we're alone now
The beating of our hearts is the only sound

Look at the way
We gotta hide what we're doing
'Cause what would they say
If they ever knew?

Despite the memories in her head, she didn't stop dancing.

[Pre-Chorus]
And so we're running just as fast as we can
Holding on to one another's hand
Trying to get away into the night
And then you put your arms around me
As we tumble to the ground and then you say

She moved her hips side to side, her hands in the air.

[Chorus]
I think we're alone now
There doesn't seem to be anyone around
I think we're alone now
The beating of our hearts is the only sound

[Outro]
I think we're alone now
There doesn't seem to be anyone around
I think we're alone now
The beating of our hearts is the only sound
I think we're alone now
There doesn't seem to be anyone around
I think we're alone now
The beating of our hearts is the only sound-

The music stopped as a loud thunder strike was heard outside, the house shaking.

Posters fell off the walls as all of the siblings ran to the nearest door, stepping outside together.ย

There was a huge, blue, ball of energy in the air in front of them.

"What is it?!" Vanya asked, Alison putting her hand in front of her sister "Don't get too close!"

"Yeah, no shit!" Diego yelled

"Looks like some sort of temporal anomaly."
"Either that or a miniature black hole, one of the two." Luther said.

"Pretty big difference there, Paul Bunyan." Diego yelled, Klaus pushing them as he run up with a fire hydrant "Out of the way!"

"What are youโ€”"ย  Before Freya could ask, Klaus was tying to get it to work, but he couldn't, so he threw it into the unknown source.
"What is that gonna do?!"

"I don't know, do you have a better idea?" Klaus whined.

The noises coming from it started to get louder, everyone saying 'woah' as if looked like it was opening.

"Everyone get behind me!" Luther yelled.
"Yeah, get behind us!" Diego pushed everyone behind him and Luther.

"I vote for running, cmon!"

Everyone ignored Klaus, Alison grabbing Luther's hand.

Freya couldn't believe her squinted eyes, it looked like Five was coming out of it.

She got closer, moving Luther's hand off of her.

Someone fell out of it, and everyone stepped up as close as Freya was.

She was shocked, at a loss of words.

The boy standing infront of her, it was five.

"Does anyone else seeโ€” little number five, or is it just me?" Klaus asked.

Five stood up, stepping back, he looked at them and then himself "Shit."

He ran in, and everyone followed him, "What's the date? The exact date?"

"The twenty fourth."
"Of what?"
"March." Vanya answered.
"Good." Five said.

"So, are we gonna talk about what just happened?" Five ignored Luther, laying down two pieces of bread and starting to make a sandwich. "It's been seventeen years."

"It's been a lot longer than that." Five sassed, teleporting back and forth to the cabinet.

"Where did you go?" Diego asked.

"The future. It's shit by the way."

"Called it!" Klaus yelled out.

"I should've listening to the old man. You know, jumping through space is one thing. Jumping through time is a toss of the dice. Nice dress." Five commented, looking Freya, who was leaning on a chair, up and down.

She smiled, but was still too shocked to say anything.

"How did you get back?" Vanya wondered.

"In the end, I had to project my consciousness forward into a suspended quantum state version of myself that exists across every possible instance of time." Five responded, as if it was obvious.

"That makes no sense."

"Well it would if you were smarter."

Diego stood up, attempting to go at the boy, a force pushing him into the chair that was newly behind him with a flick of Freyas wrist.

Diego looked at the girl with a glare, but softened it when he met her eyes.

"How long were you there?" Luther asked.

"Forty five years, give or take."

"So what are you saying? That you're fifty eight?"

"No, my consciousness is fifty eight. Apparently my body is now thirteen again." Five placed mini marshmallows on his peanut butter sandwich.

"How does that even work? I don't understand any of this." Vanya glanced between him and Freya.

"Delores kept saying the equations were off." Five said, shrugging and biting his sandwich "Bet she's laughing now."

Freya tensed up, "Who the hell is Delores?"

Five didn't answer, picking up a newspaper, "Guess I missed the funeral."

"How'd you know about that?" Luther asked.

"What part of the future do you not understand? Heart failure, huh?"

"Yeah-"
"No." Freya rolled her eyes at Luther.

"Nice to see nothings changed." Five walked out, Freya turning towards his moving body.
"That's it? That's all you have to say?"

"What else is there to say? Circle of life."

Rolling her eyes, she walked after the boy, following him up to his room.

Five stood in front of his closet, pushing the uniforms around, discovering they were all the same "Shit." He grabbed one out.

"Uh, you disappear for seventeen years, and the only thing you have to say to me is nice dress?" Her hands rested on her hips.

"You mind?" He asked, taking off the jacket part of his suit.

Freya stood, not moving until she got a good answer.

"Or not, at least shut the door if you're gonna stay in here and watch me change."

Freya turned around, shutting the door, turning to face the boy again who was now taking his tie off.

"So what's your secret?" He asked, she narrowed her brows "What do you mean?"

"You look exactly the same, too."

She bit her lip, hesitantly responding "I got trapped in my own mind."

Freya examined him, he really hadn't changed at all.

He still stood at 5"5, three inches taller than the girl.

He had the same physique, at least she thought, she was now seeing more of him than she ever had.

"How'd you do that?" He asked, ignoring her stares and pulling his uniform shorts on.

"Whenever you left, I was really torn up about it. So a year later, when I was fourteen I decided to try and find you with the portrait dad had made of you. Even though I wasn't ready, I did it anyways. But I couldn't find you, and then I couldn't get out of the same state. All I saw was black, I was stuck like that for fifteen years."

Five stopped what he was doing, listening to her fully.

"Woah. How did you get back?"

"I hardly remember. All I remember was it was really hard. It was stupid, I know." She crossed her arms, looking away.

"But it was nice, you did it just to find me."

His face showed close to no emotion, but his eyes fixated on her.

They stood in silence as he finished getting dressed, Freya finally breaking it "Are you gonna like, push me off if I hug you?"

Five opened his arms slightly, and she walked in to them.

They took their time holding each other, it was familiar, but long awaited.

Once they pulled away, their eyes met and he finally offered her a smile, although it was a tiny one "I'm gonna go check out that portrait."

"Fire away."

-

Rain fell on to the black umbrellas the siblings held over their heads as they walked out to the courtyard.

"Did something happen?" Their mom asked, looking around at the siblings.

"Dad died. Remember?" Alison said, everyone looking at her weird.
"Oh. Yes, of course."

"Is mom okay?" Alison asked, turning to her siblings.

"Yeah, yeah, she's fine." Diego answered "She just needs to rest, you know, recharge."

Freya looked around, something strange was happening.

Pogo walked up beside Vanya, "Whenever you're ready, dear boy."

Luther stood in the middle of the sibling circle, no umbrella in his hand, instead the urn holding the ashes of their father.

He unscrewed the lid with a sigh, tipping it over and pouring the ashes out.

But it didn't look like much.

"Probably would've been better with some wind." Luther said, everyone putting their heads down.

"Does anyone wish to speak?" Pogo asked, but no one stepped up "Very well. In all regards, Sir Reginald Hargreeves made me what I am today. For that alone, I shall forever be in his debt. He was my master.. and my friend. I shall miss him very much."

His speech almost brought a tear to Freyas eye, but she sniffled and fixed herself as he began again "He shall leave behind a complicated legacyโ€”"

Diego cut him off, "He was a monster."

Everyone looked at him, Klaus laughing.

"He was a bad person and a worse father, the world's better off without him."

"Diego." Freya spoke sternly, shaking her head at him.

"My name is Number Two. You know why? Because our father couldn't be bothered to give us actual names. He had mom do it."

"Would anyone like something to eat?" Grace asked, Vanya responding sweetly "No, it's okay, mom."

"Oh, ok."

"Look, you wanna pay your respects?" Diego stepped up to Luther, "Go ahead. But at least be honest about the kind of man he was."

"You should stop talking now." Luther threatened.

"You know, you of all people should be on my side here, number one."

"I am warning you."

"After everything he did to you? He had to ship you a million miles away."

"Diego stop talking."

As the scene unfolded, Freya went to step up but Five stopped her "Just let them get it out of their system."

She stepped back, Diego not listening to Luther "That's how much he couldn't stand the sight of you!" He poked Luther in the chest, Luther smacking his arm out of the way and swinging at him.

Diego dodged it, and they started to fight.

"Boys! Stop this at once!" Pogo yelled, everyone stepping back.

Klaus tried to guard Five, but his hand was pushed out of the way by the tiny man.

"Come on, big boy!" Diego taunted.

Luther launched at Diego, but he was kneed in the stomach causing him to double over.

Diego continued to hit him in the back, Luther gaining balance and starting to fight him again.

"Diego, that's enough!" Freya yelled.
"Guys stop it!" Vanya took a tiny step forward.

"Hit him! Hit him!" Klaus yelled, causing Freya to chuckle a little.

Luther finally got the upper hand, starting to kick Diego's ass.

He threw the smaller man, who caught himself on the slick ground.

They were inching closer to Ben's statue, and she could see disaster coming.

They threw punches back and forth, Luther holding Diego out with his long arm.

"Get. Off. Me!" Diego punched his arm, then his face.

"I don't have time for this." Five sighed, walking away.

"Come on!" Diego taunted, Luther lunged at him but he moved and the punch made contact with Ben's statue.

Freya had her back turned, starting to walk in when it hit the ground.

It fell off its stand, his head breaking off his body.

"Jesus Christ." Freya scoffed, walking inside.

Closing her umbrella, she glanced down at the inside of her forearm.

An umbrella with a circle around it, everyone in the academy had to get it besides Vanya.

Freya remembered crying a little when she got it, she remembered feeling the tenderness of Fives lips against it.

Speaking of, him and Klaus walked in to the room just then.

Klaus sat down, and Freya soon followed his actions while Five searched the room for something.

"Where's Vanya?" Alison walked in.

"She's gone." Klaus answered.

"That's unfortunate."
"Yeah."

"An entire square block, forty two bedrooms, nineteen bathrooms. But no, not a single drop of coffee." Five complained.

"Dad hated caffeine." Alison squinted her eyes in a duh tone.

"Well, he hated children too and he had plenty of us." Freya joked, Klaus being the only one to laugh and put his hand up for a high five.

The two awkwardly stopped, Alison and Five glaring at them.

"I'm taking the car." Five said.

"Where are you going?" Freya asked.

"To get a decent cup of coffee. You're welcome to join me."

"Can I go?" Klaus asked, Fives immediate answer being "No."

Klaus clawed the air, "Meow, feisty one."

"Do you even know how to drive?" Alison asked, Five leaning over the table "I know how to do everything."

Freya stood up next to him, gasping as he grabbed her arm.

In a second, they were in Reginald's car.

"Five, I have a caโ€”" Before she could finish, Five had the gas against the floor of the car.

"Jesus!" She yelled, buckling in.

Five drove like a mad man on many roads, Freya pointing to the Griddys Donuts "Pull in,
I work here. Excellent coffee."

He pulled in and slammed on the breaks, not even in a parking spot.

Five got out of the car and stormed in to the diner like he had bills to pay, sitting on a stool up front and ringing the bell.

Freya rolled her eyes as she pulled out a stool for herself, she hated when people rung the bell.

A man walked in, sitting on the other side of Five and exhaling deeply, sitting his hat on the counter.

Five and Freya gave him weird looks at his dramatic noise, Agnes walking out from behind the counter.

"Sorry, sink was clogged. Welcome back Freya." She chuckled, smiling at the younger girl "So, what'll it be?" She looked back and forth between them and the man.

"Uh, gimme a chocolate eclair."
"Mm, sure. Can I get the kid a glass of milk or something?"

Freya giggled, Five answering "The kid wants coffee. Black."

"Cute kid." She sighed, "Anything for you, Freya?"

"Chocolate milk." She gave her a smile.

Agnes looked over at Five, who was staring at her with a big, white smile.

"Um, yeah, sure thing."

Five sighed, looking over to the man next to him "Don't remember this place being such a shithole." He ignored the offended scoff from the girl next to him.
"Use to come here as a kid, use to sneak out with my brothers and sisters, eat doughnuts till we puked. Simpler times, huh?"

That was definitely a core memory, Diego holding her hair back while she threw up in the grass, Five being no help since he was doing the same.

"Eh. I suppose, Here." The man grabbed his wallet out of his back pocket, pulling a ten out.

"I got there's."

"Thanks." Five said, Freya smiling at the man.

"You must know your way around the city." Five leaned on his elbow.

"I hope so." The man answered, "I've been driving for twenty years."

"Good. I need an address."

While asking for the address, he spoke to quiet for Freya to hear what it was, the man writing it down on a napkin that five shoved in his pocket.

Freya didn't notice the people behind her pointing guns their way, until Five said "Hm. That was fast, thought I'd have more time before they found me."

"What the fuck." Freya said, waiting on them to finish their conversation before doing anything.

"Okay, so let's all be professional about this, yeah? On your feet and come with us. We can leave the girl out of this, ain't got nothing to do with her. They wanna talk." The man standing closest to them said.

"Uh, damn right you can." Freya sassed, whipping her head back and almost getting hit with a gun.

"I've got nothing to say." Five said calmly.

"It doesn't have to go this way. You think I wanna shoot a kid? Go home with that on my conscience?"

"Well, I wouldn't worry about that, you won't be going home." Fives hand slowly eased to the butter knife on the table, and he teleported behind the man, shoving it into his neck.

"Shit!" Freya gasped, standing up, now she had to fight.

Five was teleporting all over, and she was disarming them with her mind, forcing them to fight her by hand.

A bald man that still had his gun in his hand shot at her, she put her hand out and turned the bullet around, sending them his way.

It shot through his shoulder, and she kicked him in the stomach to send him to the ground.

Freya and Five continued to fight them, Five teleporting behind her and bumping in to her.

They both turned around, ready to fight, sighing when they realized it was just them.

Five leaned over the bald guys body, pulling his head up and snapping his neck, reaching into his pocket and pulling a knife out.

The scene was gruesome, dead bodies all over the floor of her workplace.

"You wanna tell me what this is about now?" She asked as he sat back on the stool, shocking Freya as he sliced deep in to his own arm.

"What are you doing?" She asked, he began to dig in to the cut with his finger.

But she understood when he pulled a beeping tracking device out.

"Shall we?" He asked, motioning towards the door.

Freya walked out first, still confused.

Five fixed his tie slyly, dropping the beeping device in to a puddle.

"What the hell is going on?"

"It's nothing. Where too?"

Freya sighed in defeat, leaning on the window "My apartment."

She gave him the directions, and the ride was silent.

He stopped in front of her building, and she opened the door, turning to him "It's nice to have you back."

Five looked at her for a second, "You too."

She got out, and he watched her walk in her building.

Walking up the stairs to the second floor, the day replayed in her head.

It was so odd.

She saw the people she hadn't seen In years.

Five came back from the future where no one knew he was.

Her brothers knocked over there dead brothers statue while fighting about there dad who was in a pile on the ground.

And then she killed a bunch of people with Five, and she didn't even know why.

Freya unlocked her apartment door, shutting and locking it behind her.

The first thing she did was get out of those heels, and then the tights, then the dress, then
Her uncomfortable bra.

With no energy left to shower, she just pulled her pony tail out and brushed through her hair.

Slipping on her fuzzy slippers, she walked out of the bathroom in to her living room to relax on the couch.

Freya jumped, seeing the boy she was just with sitting in her recliner.

"Miss me already? What are you doing here?"

"You should put locks on your windows." Five said, not bothering to explain.

"Jesus, Five. I live on the second floor." She rolled her eyes, stepping in to the room a little more.

"Rapists can climb."

Her eyes moved to his sleeve, blood leaking through it.

She grabbed his arm, pulling his sleeve up to see the nasty cut he had made on himself earlier.

"Stay here."

She walked to her bathroom, opening a cabinet and pulling out medical tape, cut cream, and a bandage, then getting a paper towel wet.

Freya moved on to her knees beside the chair, rubbing the paper towel on the cut, applying pressure on to it.

"So, what are you doing here?" She asked,
"I've decided you're the only one I can trust."

"Why me?" She asked, removing the paper towel.

"Well, you saw me get attacked. But, I know you'll listen." He said, looking down at her.ย

"When I jumped forward and got stuck in the future, do you know what I found?" Fives head was tilted towards her and she looked up, meeting his eyes.

"No."

"Nothing. Absolutely nothing. As far as I could tell, I was the last person left alive. I never figured out who killed the human race, but I did find something else-"

Freya listened to him explain, applying the cut cream that was probably not helping much.

"The date it happens."

Her eyes met his once again as she wrapped his arm, tension and suspense filling the air.

"The world ends in eight days, and I have no
Idea how to stop it."

She stood up from her place on the ground, using his knee for support.

"Coffee?" Freya asked, the boy nodding his head.

When she walked back from the kitchen she handed him a hot mug, sitting down on the couch as he began speaking.

"In the future, I survived on scraps. Canned food, cockroaches, anything I could find." Five chuckled "You know that rumor that Twinkie's have an endless shelf life? It's bullshit."

"I can't even imagine, Five." She said, beginning to feel bad for him.

"You do whatever it takes to survive, or die. So we adapted, whatever the world threw at us, we found a way to overcome it."

"We?" Freya shook her head, narrowing her brows.

"You got anything stronger?" Five ignored the question, too embarrassed to tell her that Delores was a mannequin he had originally pretended was her.

"Sure." She said, standing up and walking to the kitchen once again, he followed her and watched as she poured him out a small glass of whiskey.

Freya turned around, handing him it.

She looked him up and down, he pulled the glass away from his lips "You think I'm crazy."

"No, of course not. It's just that, it's a lot. I mean, you're finally back which is good but- the world is gonna endโ€” it's a lot." She stammered.

"Exactly what don't you understand?" Five asked, his voice cold.

"Why you didn't just travel back."

"Gee, why didn't I think of that? Time travel is a crap shoot. I went into the ice and never acorn-ed. You think I didn't try everything to get back to you? To our family?" He spoke through gritted teeth, like she had offended him.

"If you grew old, in the apocalypse, how come you still look like your old self?"

Five scoffed at her question, "I told you already. I must have got the equations wrong. How come you still look like your old self?"

"I.. I guess I don't know."

He walked past her, pouring himself more whiskey.

"I mean, dad always use to say that time travel could mess up your mind. What if that's what's happening?" Freya asked.

"This was a mistake. You're to young. Too naive to understand." He walked to the door, the girls words stopping him,
"Five don't leave, Five wait. I haven't seen you in a really long time, and I don't wanna loose you again. That's all."
"Look It's getting late, I'm in my pajamas, and I have work tomorrow at the place we just murdered people in. I need sleep, I'm sure you do too. Why don't you just stay here tonight? We'll talk in the morning, I pinky promise."

"Sure, I've got no where else to stay anyways." Five said, and they stood there in an awkward silence for a moment.

"You can sleep in my bed, I can sleep out here if you want me too."

"Why would I want that?" Five asked, shifting his weight on to his left foot.

Freya blushed, tucking her hair behind her ear, "You wanna sleep in that?"

"I don't have anything else." Five said, Freya motioning for him to come with her.

She pulled one of her oversized t shirts out of her closet, a grey one with the red words 'HARVARD' peeling off the front.

Five changed out of his uniform in to the t shirt, and the same grey boxers he had been wearing.

"You sure it's okay I sleep in here with you?" He asked, standing in her doorway.

"Yeah, just like old times." She smiled.
"Right." He sat down on her bed next to her, scooting under the cover.

"You've got goosebumps." Five said, trailing his finger up her arm causing her to shiver.
"It's just us, you don't have to be shy."

Freya smiled at him as their eyes met, reaching over to turn off the lamp, getting under the covers, "Goodnight Five."

"Goodnight Freya."
