"So what exactly is this place?" Kol asked as he stared out the window of the quinjet.

It had been a year since they moved to the tower and not much had happened. The majority of the team had moved out though, including Bucky who had chosen to go back to Wakanda.

Mia had gotten closer with her soulmates. She went on dates with them every week.

Mia smiled at him as she drove the quinjet through the force field, "This is the Avenger's new base."

Elijah glanced down at her, "New base?"

"Friday, autopilot," Mia told the robot before standing up.

"Yes, Ms. Rutherford."

Just as she walked into the main room, the door opened. Wind blew wildly around the room as a metal machine flew in before the door closed.

"What the hell?" She muttered as nano-tech encased her body.

"Stark?" She asked, confused.

"Hey, kid."

"What is this?" She asked, staring down at the black form fitted metal that covered her body up to her neck.

"Early Easter gift! Aliens are attacking New York and they're probably heading for you next," He explained through grunts, the sounds of fighting heard behind him.

"Thor and Loki?"

"Loki's dead, Mia. Thor's location is unknown."

Mia's eyes widened at the new piece of information. The Mikaelsons sped over to her when they heard it.

"He's a god, Tony. He can't die."

"Thanos killed him, kid. I know Steve and Nat are waiting for you at the new base. Tell them to prepare for the fight. I love you, kid."

"I- I love you too, dad. Where's Peter?"

"He's with me. Tell Vision to keep that stone in his head under lock and key, kay? Shit, gotta go. Stay safe, kid."

"Will do," Mia told him before the call was cut off.

"What's happening, Mia?" Rebekah asked as she walked back into the cockpit and took control once more.

"Not something you're going to like."

— — —

Natasha embraced Mia quickly when she walked out of the quinjet, "Hey, Mia."

"Hey, Nat," Mia muttered softly as she held onto her best friend.

"What's wrong?" Steve asked from behind her, immediately noticing the somber look on her face.

"Aliens just attacked downtown New York. They're heading for the mind stone."

"Vision," Steve realized from beside Sam, earning a nod from Mia, "Do you have any idea where he and Wanda are?"

"We're right here, Mia," She heard the witch say as she walked towards them.

"Oh thank god," The blonde said as she embraced Wanda before nodding at the robot, "You look like hell."

"We were attacked. Probably by the same ones who are going after Tony," Wanda explained as they walked inside the base, the Mikaelsons following behind them.

They had never seen Mia like this before. She was different. It was like Sokovia all over again.

With Loki gone and a war brewing, they had no idea of what to expect.

"Mr. Secretary," Steve greeted as they walked inside a meeting room where Rhodey stood along with a hologram of Ross and his associates.

"Rogers. You got some nerve," The man spoke.

Mia sighed. She recognized him. He was the man who had attempted to have her locked away at the Raft when she was 16.

"Ms. Rutherford, how lovely to see you again. Are you still killing people?"

She chuckled angrily, "You know it. You're actually next on my list, dick."

The man glared at her, "Say that again and you'll be in the Raft."

"Say that again and none of us will help you fight this threat. We all know you wouldn't dare go out on the field, Ross."

Steve stared at the man, "Earth just lost her best defender. So we're here to fight. And if you want to stand in our way... we'll fight you too."

Ross turned to Rhodey, "Arrest them."

Rhodey nodded, "All over it," He told him before making the hologram disappear, "That's a court-martial..." He paused before chuckling softly as he shook Streve's hand, "It's great to see you, Cap."

Steve smiled as he shook the man's hand, "You two, Rhodey."

Natasha smiled as well as she hugged the man.

"Wow, you guys... really look like crap. Except you, Mia. How do you always look so perfect?"

Mia grinned as she leaned against a wall, "It's a talent. Nice to see you, Rhodes."

"Soulmates?" He asked, glancing at the Mikaelsons who stood out like sore thumbs.

Mia nodded, glancing back at them before looking back at him, "Yeah. Klaus, Rebekah, Elijah and Kol, this is Rhodey, one of Tony's old friends, also known as War Machine."

"Uh, I think you look great," They heard Bruce say as he walked inside the room.

Natasha smiled at the man, "Hi, Bruce."

"Nat."

— — —

"So, we gotta assume they're coming back, right?" Rhodey asked as they gathered around a large table.

"And they can clearly find us," Wanda added.

"Tony told me they were coming for the Mind Stone. Something about some guy named Thanos. Has anyone heard of him?"

Bruce nodded, "Thor told me about him once. He's the destroyer of worlds. Kills anyone to get what he wants. We need all hands on deck. Where's Clint?"

"He's on house arrest, so is Scott Lang," Natasha answered, remembering the man she had met a couple of years before when the team had a slight fallout.

Mia hadn't been there at the time, she was in Paris at the time on an undercover mission and had missed the entire showdown. By the time she had gotten back, everything was fine.

"Who's Scott?" Bruce asked, he had also not been there at the time as he was with Mia.

"Ant-Man."

"There's an Ant-Man and a Spider-Man?"

Rhodey nodded.

"Okay, look. Thanos has the biggest army in the universe and he is not going to stop until he gets Vision's stone."

"Then we have to protect it," Natasha spoke.

Vision cut in, "No, we have to destroy it. I've been giving a good deal of thought to this entity in my head. About its nature but also its composition. I think if it were exposed to a sufficiently powerful source, something very similar to its own signature, perhaps..." He paused as he stared at Wanda, "Its molecular integrity could fail."

Wanda shook her head, "Yeah, and you with it. We're not having this conversation."

"Eliminating the stone is the only way to be certain that Thanos can't get it."

"That's too high a price."

He placed his hands on Wanda's head, "Only you have the power to pay it."

Wanda sighed before walking away. She moved to stand next to Mia who sent her a calming smile.

"Thanos threatens half the universe. One life cannot stand in the way of defeating him."

"But it should," Steve told him, "We don't trade lives, Vision."

"Captain, 70 years ago, you laid down your life to save how many people? Tell me, why is that any different?"

"Because you might have a choice," Bruce spoke up, "Your mind is made up of a complex construct of overlays. Jarvis, Ultron, Tony, me, the stone. All of them mixed together, all of them learning from one another."

"You're saying Vision isn't just the stone?"

"I'm saying that if we take out the stone, there's still a whole lot of Vision left. Perhaps the best parts."

"Can we do that?"

Bruce glanced at Mia who spoke up, "Not here."

"Well, you better find someone and somewhere fast."

Mia glanced at Steve, "We know somewhere."

— — —

"This isn't going to end well, is it?" Elijah asked as he, his siblings and Mia walked into a separate room in the quinjet.

Mia breathed out as she sat on the bed, "No, it isn't."

"People are going to get hurt," Rebekah added.

"Yeah," Mia whispered as she rubbed her forehead, "I need you to do something for me."

"What is it?" They all asked as they watched her with concerned stares.

"I need you to stay inside during this. If the fight comes and it will, I need to know you four are safe."

"What? No way," Kol spoke up.

"You're not fighting this. It's not your fight."

Klaus scoffed, "It isn't yours either."

"It is. He killed my family. He made it my fight. And I won't let him hurt you."

"What about you? No offence but you're just a human, Mia."

"I may be, but I have much more experience in this than all of you. I've been to space, I've fought aliens alongside Thor and... and Loki. I know what we're going up against and besides, with this suit, I technically have superpowers and I have a diluted version of the super-soldier serum."

"We can't die, Mia. You can," Elijah told her, not liking her plan one bit.

"You don't know that, Elijah. These aliens are much more powerful than all of you. They most likely can kill you. Even Wanda could if she wanted to."

Before they could argue she spoke up once more, "We don't fully know what we're up against. I'm not letting you out in the field. Even if I have to have Wanda spell you into a room."

As she got up to leave, Klaus sped towards her, his eyes glowing yellow, "Do you truly have no care for your life?"

"I do, Nik. But I care about yours more," She answered before slipping out of his hold and walking away.

Natasha watched as Mia walked out of the room with a sad expression on her face. She followed her to the cockpit before sitting beside her, "They didn't take it well, did they?"

Mia shook her head, "I can't fight if I don't know whether they're safe or not. It'll only lead to people getting hurt if I can't think straight."

The now blonde-haired woman nodded, "I get it, sestra. But they can take care of themselves. They have for the past millennia. But just know that we will support you no matter what choice you make."

As Natasha walked away, Steve took her place, "Drop to 2600, heading to 0-3-0."

Mia glanced at him, "I hope you're right about this or we're gonna land a lot faster than you want to."

She pushed down on the throttle, lowering the jet slightly before they went through a forcefield.

She breathed out in relief as the Wakandan cityscape appeared.

Mia landed the quinjet in front of the castle on a hanger before opening the door.

They exited in pairs, first Steve and Natasha, then Sam and Mia before the rest followed.

"Should we bow?" She heard Bruce ask from behind her.

"Yeah, he's a king," Rhodey answered.

Mia followed Steve and Natasha until they stood in front of T'Challa and his guard.

"Seems like I'm always thanking you for something," Steve spoke as he and T'Challa shook hands.

Behind them, Bruce coughed before bowing.

Rhodey glanced down at him, "What are you doing?"

The scientist looked around awkwardly until T'Challa spoke up, "Um, we don't do that here."

— — —

Mia walked by the Mikaelsons' side as the group walked around the Wakandan grounds.

"So how big of an assault should we expect?" T'Challa asked.

"Um, sir? I think you should expect quite a big assault," Bruce told him.

"How are we looking?" Mia asked.

"You will have my Kingsgaurd, the Border Tribe, the Dora Milaje, and..." He paused as he pointed to a man who was walking towards them.

"And a semi-stable 100 year old man."

Mia smiled slightly, "Hey, Buck."

He smiled at her, "Hey, dollface."

Steve pulled his friend in for a hug, "How you been, Buck?"

"Uh, not bad for the end of the world."

— — —

"Do you honestly think you can protect yourselves?" Mia asked as they stood across the room where Vision was being assessed by Shuri.

"We're Original vampires, Mia. Of course we can."

Mia shook her head, "I know that, Kol. But if something happens and I get hurt, you can not get distracted. If I get stabbed, or shot, or blasted away, you cannot get distracted. Do you believe that you can do that?"

The Mikaelsons stayed silent for a moment before Elijah spoke up, "Is that what you want? For us to ignore your possible pain?"

"If it comes down to it, yes. It's the only way I'll let you fight."

They slowly nodded, "Alright."

"Okay then. Come with me," She told them before leading them to a room full of weapons, "Now, since we're fighting aliens, biting them is not going to do shit. You gotta attack them with force. Snapping their necks may work on some but not all. Try not to even get that close."

She grabbed a few guns, "These should blast them away long enough for you to make a plan," She paused before grabbing a few gauntlets, "These might kill them."

She pulled out a few spears, "If you stab them in the heart, this will do the trick. Remember all the things I've taught you, okay? Remember to think, not do. You can't act without reason, if you do, you will get killed."

She paused as she stared at them, "And, uh, I love you. Always and forever."

— — —

Mia was alone when she walked back into the room. She had left the Mikaelsons to get used to their new weaponry.

She walked towards Shuri who stood next to Wanda over Vision's body, "Hey, Shuri."

"Mia! Oh, how we've missed you," The young girl said as she embraced the Avenger.

Mia smiled slightly before letting the girl go, "Where'd Steve go?"

"Other room."

Shuri smiled as the girl walked away.

"Steve?"

The blonde man looked away from the glass, "Hey, Mia."

She breathed out as she stood next to him, "I know things aren't going to end well and I know a lot of us are going to get hurt."

Steve nodded, "Yeah."

"If- If I die, will you take care of the Mikaelsons? Just don't let them suffer in grief. Make sure they eat and-"

"Of course, Mia. But don't think that way. We're not going to die."

Mia smiled slightly, even at a time like this, he was still optimistic, "Thank you, Steve. For everything," She whispered as she pulled him in for a hug.

— — —

The group was once again in the main room where Vision lay.

"Why didn't you just reprogram the synapses to work collectively?" Shuri asked Bruce as she scanned the android's body.

The scientist stared at her for a moment before answering, "Because we didn't think of it."

The princess chuckled, "I'm sure you did your best."

"Can you do it?" Wanda asked.

"Yes, but there are more than two trillion neurons here. One misalignment could cause a cascade of circuit failures," Her eyes moved from Wanda and onto T'Challa, "It will take time, brother."

"How long?"

"As long as you can give me."

Okoye's kimoyo beads beeped, "Something's entered the atmosphere."

Through their earpieces, they heard Sam speak up, "Hey, Cap, we got a situation here."

Mia watched as multiple vessels smashed against the force fields which emitted deep blue light as they bounced off, immediately blowing up.

"We got more incoming outside the dome," Bucky told them.

Vision stood, watching the chaos begin, "It's too late. We need to destroy the stone now."

Mia scoffed, "Vision, get your ass back on the table."

T'Challa nodded, "We will hold them off."

Steve stared at Wanda, "Wanda as soon as the stone's out of his head...you blow it to hell."

"I will."

"Evacuate the city. Engage all defence procedures.," T'Challa told Okeye before looking at Steve, "And get this man a shield."

— — —

Mia held the Mikaelsons in her arms, "Remember to watch each other's six, okay?"

She was uncharacteristically nervous about this battle. She wasn't sure if it was due to her soulmates being there or because something about it felt different. Whatever it was though, it pissed her off.

"We will."

Mia breathed out deeply as she held them a little tighter, "If you get hurt I will punch you."

"I don't doubt it."

"Stay near me. Don't stray too far."

"We'll be fine, darling."

Mia nodded, "I know- I know."

Rebekah smiled at her, "We love you too, Mia. We're gonna make it out of this."

Klaus glanced at her before handing her a necklace, "This has my blood in it. If anything happens you are going to drink it, okay?"

Mia nodded, "Okay."

I'm imagining Mia's new suit to look like Peter's Iron Spider suit but all black and with the same abilities as Tony's Iron Man suits
