𝐉𝐄𝐒𝐒 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐋𝐀𝐈𝐃 𝐎𝐍 𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐁𝐄𝐃 𝐖𝐀𝐓𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐓𝐕,

She was dying from the heat, but she refused to go to the pool that was just outside. Her older sister, Sam, had a bunch of her "friends" over for a pool party. Jess couldn't stand anyone that was there, and her parents didn't even know that so many kids were going to come.

Jess would rather die from the heat than be outside with a bunch of goons her sister calls friends.

Suddenly, Jess hears her parents arguing downstairs. She smirks knowing what has happened. Jess gets up and slowly makes her way downstairs. She stops halfway down the stairs to listen in on their conversation.

"I'm not acting irrationally. I'm acting like a responsible parent who cares about his kid," Daniel says pacing back and forth.

"Ok, we both care about our kid. I just don't think that embarrassing Sam in front of her friends is helping matter," Amanda reasons with Daniel.

Jess rolls her eyes and creeps down a little more.

"I don't like these new friends," Daniel says annoyed.

"It's not like Samantha. Why can't she be at robot camp with Aisha?" He asks.

"Cause she doesn't want to be a nerd. Look, I remember what it was like being part of a clique other kids made fun of. Believe me, girls can be really cruel," Amanda says.

"Listen, I know a thing or two about cruel, ok? I was pushed off a cliff on my bike," Daniel says matter-of-factly.

Jess rolled her eyes. She hated when her dad made everything about himself. Especially, when it came to karate and his high school bully, Johnny Lawrence.

"There's nothing wrong with Sam wanting to be popular," Amanda says.

"Popular is fine. I just don't want her turning into one of these privileged Encino brats," Daniel says.

Jess decided to make her presence know. She stomped downstairs, jumping from the last few steps. Her parents jumped at the sudden noise.

"Too late. Sam's already a brat," Jess said looking at her parents.

Her parents looked at her weirdly. Jess rolled her eyes and walked closer to them.

"Mother, Father, I believe we say "hello" when someone enters a room," Jess said crossing her arms over her chest.

"Hello Jess," Daniel said nodding his head, before turning back to his wife.

Daniel opened his mouth to speak, but shut it as he realized what Jess had said.

"Jessica, don't call your sister a brat," he said pointing at her.

"Why not? I'm only speaking the truth. Didn't you raise me to never ever lie?" Jess asked batting her eyelashes at Daniel with fake innocence.

Before Daniel could respond the three of them heard the toilet flushing. They all looked to see a kid from Jess' school, Brucks, enter the kitchen.

"Whoo!," he exclaims walking out in her fathers swim trunks.

"Skinny dips and bong rips," he says shaking his head like a dog.

Jess' face forms into one of disgust as she slowly leaves the kitchen.

"Whoa! Oh, you're that bonsai guy on those commercials!" Bucks exclaims pointing at Daniel.

"Wait. Where's everybody go?" He asks stupidly before leaving.

Daniel and Amanda look at each other before they hear Jess walk in again.

Jess held a plastic bag, a paper with some writing on it, and she was wearing a gas mask.

She walks over to Daniel and hands him the plastic bag.

"This is for the swim trunks. I suggest you take these far, far away and burn them," she says her voice muffled because of the mask.

"W-wait where did you get the gas mask from?" Daniel asks with furrowed eyebrows.

"A girl's gotta be prepared for everything and anything, and I mean anything," Jess said walking towards the bathroom that Brucks has exited.

She taped the paper to the door and walked away without another word.

Amanda walked to the door and looked at the paper.

"What does it say?" Daniel asks from his spot in the kitchen.

"Beware! Danger! Toxic environment! Some dumbass just took a shit in here. If you enter their is a chance that you will catch the following: stupidity, severe stupidity, and/or chronic stupidity. There is also a very high chance of death," Amanda reads looking at Daniel.

Daniel just shakes his head at his youngest daughters antics and walks away.

"Wait, so your sister invited all of the popular kids to your house?" Jess's friend, Timmy says.

"Yes, unfortunately," Jess said playing with the food in front of her.

"That sucks," Timmy says.

"Tell me about. And on top of that Brucks took a shit in one of our bathrooms!" Jess exclaims putting her feet on the table and leaning back.

"Which one?" Timmy asks with wide eyes.

"The main bathroom by the kitchen," Jess said.

"The one with the fancy soap?" Timmy asks in denial.

"The one with the fancy soap," Jess confirms.

"Dang it," Timmy pouts folding his arms over his chest.

Timmy and Jess were best friends. Well, more like each other's only friend. They met when they were in fifth grade, when Timmy was getting bullied by a group of kids. Jess had stormed over and beat the living shit out of them. After that, they became inseparable.

The two kept talking until Jess noticed the kid from the minimart.

"Hey, I'll be right back," Jess said standing up and heading over to the kid.

He was sitting with these two other kids, whom Jess knew as Demetri and Eli.

"Hey, Rhea," Jess said as she came to stop in front of him.

"Oh, uh, hey," he said looking up at you.

"It's Miguel by the way," Miguel said.

"Turns out we do go to the same school, huh?" Jess said ignoring his comment.

"Yeah I guess," he says.

"What's your name?" Jess asked.

"Miguel. Miguel Diaz," Miguel said.

"Well, bye Diaz," Jess said as she walked back towards Timmy.

"Who's that?" Timmy asked leaning closer to Jess.

"Just some kid that was getting picked on at the minimart the other day," Jess said.

Timmy nodded his head before the two of them got lost in another conversation.

"The yanagi, or yanagiba, depending on the region, is a knife used exclusively for cutting sashimi," Daniel explains to Kyler.

Jess blew a strand out of her face as she suffered through dinner with Kyler and her family. If Jess was being honest she had no idea why she was here in the first place.

"I picked up this bad boy on my first trip to Okinawa," Daniel says pointing at the knife.

"Violà," Daniel says as he places some of the shashimi onto a plate for Kyler.

Daniel hands over the plate with a smile, only to have his hopes and dreams crushed.

"Uh, no, thanks. I don't like sushi," Kyler says pushing the plate away.

Jess scoffs and rolls her eyes letting out a small laugh.

"Are you sure you just don't want to try a little piece?" Amanda asks.

"It melts in your mouth," Daniel tries to convince him.

"No, fish kind of grossed me out," Kyler says.

Jess laughs again, causing Sam to kick her from underneath the table with a glare on her face.

"No, you like fish. What about the fish sticks at school?" Sam says hoping that Kyler would just eat the damn fish already.

"Oh yeah, fish sticks are dope," Kyler says.

"You have fish sticks?" He asks.

By now Jess was full on cackling. Could he be any dumber?

"Uh, no, just this fresh fish I picked from the Japanese market this morning," Daniel says.

"You know what? Why don't we go see if we can find Kyler something he can eat," Amanda says to Sam and Jess.

Jess keeps laughing until Amanda slaps her over the head and drags her up.

"So," Jess says looking at Sam as she walks backwards into the house.

"When's the wedding?" Jess asks wiggling her eyebrows.

Sam shoves her as Jess starts to laugh again.

"Oh Sam! Your love life is just so entertaining! You should start a reality show," Jess says.

"You should call it "Falling in Love with Dumbasses" Jess teases.

Sam stops walking and turns around. She looks behind her to see that Amanda has walked away. She smirks and sweeps Jess' legs causing her to fall with a thud.

"Ow! What the hell was that for," Jess groaned as she sat up rubbing her back.

Sam simply smiled and walked off.

"So much for preventing her from turning into one of those Encino brats," Jess says as she falls back onto the floor defeated.
