season 2, episode 10: fury

"The universe balances things out. Always does."

THE STARS AND moon were hiding behind the dark clouds that blended in with the dark sky of Beacon Hills as the lights in the Stilinski household could be seen lit up, signaling that the family of the son and father were still awake, just like some other houses around. Inside of Stiles' bedroom, the trio and Stiles' father could be seen standing at the brunette's desk with a yearbook of Beacon Hills high school laying open.

A circle had been drawn by red marker as it circled around one of the trio's classmates and who had also seemed to be hooked to Allison Argent, Matt Daehler, a red arrow being pointed at his name that had an underline beneath it.

After Lydia Martin's birthday party, Scott had told his best friends about Matt being the killer after he had seen the Kanima beside him, it's tail wrapped around his legs before they disappeared and Stiles had rambled a bit about his suspiciouns about Matt and how right he was.

Now, the trio were trying to explain to Stiles' father without mentioning the supernatural that Matt was the killer of the many murders that have happened the past few weeks. Unfortunately, Stilinski didn't seem to convinced.

"So this kid's the real killer?" Stilinski asks, receiving nods from all of them. "No."

"Dad, come on. Everybody knows that the police look for ways to connect victims in a murder, okay? So all you have to do is look through their transcripts and figure out which class they all had in common." Stiles explains.

"Except for the fact that the rave promoter wasn't in Harris' class." Stilinski recalls.

Stiles raises a brow. "Then I guess they dropped the charges against him?"

"No, they're not dropping the charges. But that doesn't prove anything." Stilinski states, glancing to the other two. "Scott, Y/n, do you guys believe this?"

"It's really hard to explain how we know this, but you just gotta trust us." Y/n replies, sharing a glance with Scott. "We know it's Matt."

"He took Harris' car." Stiles adds. "He knew that if a cop found tire tracks at one of the murders, and that if enough of the victims were in Harris' class, that they'd arrest him."

Stilinski sighs. "Fine. I'll allow the remote possibility, but give me a motive. I mean, why would this kid want most of the 2006 swim team and it's coach dead?"

"Isn't it obvious? Our swim team sucks!" Stiles exclaims, arms flailing. "They haven't won in, like, six years. Okay, we don't have a motive yet. Does Harris?"

"What do you want me to do?" Stilinski questions.

"We need to look at the evidence." Scott informs.

"That would be in the station, where I no longer work." Stilinski reminds.

"Trust me, they'll let you in." Stiles states, gulping when his father repeated the two words he said in disbelief. "Trust Y/n and Scott?"

"Them, I trust." Stilinski replies.

Luckily, Stiles' dad had taken them all to the police station and after a little talk with the cop at the front desk, they were in Stilinski's old office as they looked through the hospital stuff since the only person who hadn't been murdered by Jackson was the pregnant woman. As the four had looked through the hospital cameras, they had seen a boy in a black jacket walk through, his back to the cameras.

Stiles was the only one convinced it was Matt and when Scott had called his mom when they saw the boy stop and speak to the woman through the cameras, sending a picture of the teenager, they got their confirmation that it had been Matt.

As Stilinski explained that Matt had been on four crime scenes, Scott had called his mom back to get her over to the station when Stilinski instructed him to as Stiles ventured out of the office to tell the officer at the front to let Scott's mom pass when she came.

It wasn't long before he was coming back and when he did, they all tensed at the sight of Matt pushing him towards Y/n, a gun in his hand. Subconsciously, Y/n grabbed ahold of Stiles' hand as he moved closer to her.

Stilinski slowly raises his hands. "Matt, whatever's going on, I guarantee you there's a solution that doesn't involve a gun."

"It's funny you say that, because I don't think you're aware of just how right you are." Matt replies.

"I know you don't wanna hurt people." Stilinski states.

"Actually, I wanna hurt a lot of people." Matt corrects. "You four weren't on my list, but I could be persuaded. And one way is to try dialing somebody on your cellphone, like McCall is doing. That could definitely get someone hurt."

The brunette motions with the gun in his hand for them to take out their phones and place them down. A shout left him when they didn't do it and slowly, all four of them reached into their pockets and placed their phones down on the desk beside them.

After that, they soon found themselves near the cells as Matt aimed his gun at Stiles, the boy handcuffing his father to a pole before they were being forced out of the room by Matt and it was then they noticed the many dead bodies of the police officers in the hallway, to which Matt explained that was Jackson's doing.

Time had passed and they all found themselves in the office, Matt in the chair in the corner, his gun still in hand as he watched the trio get rid of all the evidence they had, being forced to do so. As they finally finished, a light shined through the curtians of the windows, causing their heads to snap to the sight, a car engine being muffled from outside. That could only be one person.

Matt raises a brow. "Sounds like your mom's here, McCall."

"Matt, don't do this. When she comes to the door, I'll just tell her to leave. I'll tell her we didn't find anything. Please, Matt." Scott pleas just as the sound of the door opening echoed.

"If you don't move, now, I'm gonna kill Stiles first, then your mom, and then Y/n." Matt tells him.

Stiles tenses at his words, taking a glance at the girl beside him before they were slowly venturing out of the office. Hesitantly, Scott shakily placed his hand on the handle when Matt demanded him to, gun aimed. When he turned the knob and opened the door, a breath of relief escaped him at the sight of Derek standing there.

However, what they didn't expect was for the older werewolf to collapse right in front of them on the floor, Jackson standing behind him, half of his scaly skin decorating his human skin as his eyes turned, head tilted. A smirk on his face, Matt stood over the still awake werewolf, his body unmoving.

"This is the one controlling him? This kid?" Derek asks in disbelief.

"Well, Derek, not everyone's lucky enough to be a big, bad werewolf. That's right. I've learned a few things lately. Werewolves, hunters, Kanimas. It's like a Halloween party every full moon." Matt states, glancing to the only two humans. "Except for you two. What do you guys turn into?"

"Abominable snowman." Stiles replies with sarcasm. "But it's more of a wintertime thing, you know, seasonal."

With a motion of his head, Jackson obeyed Matt as he scratched at Stiles' neck. The buzzcut boy stumbles, stuttering out the word 'bitch' before he fell almost right on top of Derek, one of his arms and head on the werewolf's arm. With a smirk, Matt turned to Y/n with brows raised, watching as the girl gulped, trying to hide her fear.

She hated it. She hated being so scared. She wished she could be more tough, but with Jackson's lizard eyes glaring at her and Scott, she was scared to say or do something and Matt noticed as he awes at her a bit.

"Oh, Y/n, you don't have to be scared." Matt taunts as he steps close to her, to which she steps back near Scott. "You know, I always admired you, Y/n. One of the best lacrosse players and one of the pretty girls in school."

"Stay away from her!" Stiles shouts.

His attention went away from the e/c eyed girl and to the sound of another car engine, a light shining through the windows and they knew that this was Scott's mom. With hesitance as Matt had aimed his gun at Y/n, Scott was being led out to the front by Matt as Jackson pushed Y/n in the office, dragging Stiles and Derek and laying them on the floor.

Y/n nervously stood near their heads, Jackson's eyes staring at her when the sound of a gunshot, followed by screams rang through. After a few minutes, Scott was being pushed into the room, stopping beside Y/n as he let his hand grab hers to comfort his best friend while Matt glared at them. Y/n's eyes had widened at the sight of a bloodstain on Scott's shirt, but when he squeezed her hand, she felt a bit more reassurance that he was here with her.

"The evidence is gone." Scott reminds. "Why don't you just go?"

"You think the evidence mattered that much, huh? I want the book." Matt admits.

"What book?" Y/n questions.

"The bestiary." Matt snaps. "Not just a few pages, I want the entire thing."

Scott shrugs. "We don't have it. It's Gerard's. What do you want it for?"

Matt sighs. "I need answers."

"To what?" Y/n asks.

Deciding to just show them instead of saying it, Matt lifts up his shirt, revealing scales beginning to cover his body, showing he was turning just like Jackson. From his spot beside Derek, Stiles' eyes widen in shock just like Y/n and Scott's.

Anger and frustration seemed to flow through Matt as he forced Scott out of the room, demanding Jackson to watch the three inside the office. Y/n found herself crouched beside Stiles and Derek's heads, her hand on Stiles' shoulder as the pad of her thumb rubbed his shoulder.

"Hey." Stiles whispers when Jackson didn't look, his eyes trying to look at Derek beside him. "You know what's happening to Matt?"

"The book's not gonna help him. He can't just break the rules, not like this." Derek replies, just as quiet.

"What do you mean?" Y/n mumbles.

"The universe balances things out. Always does." Derek informs.

"Is it because he's using Jackson to kill people who don't deserve it?" Stiles questions.

Derek nods a bit. "And killing people himself."

"So if Matt breaks the rules of the Kanima, he becomes the Kanima?" Y/n clarifies, receiving a nod. "Will he believe us if we tell him that?"

"Not likely." Derek replies.

"He's gonna kill all of us when he gets that book, isn't he?" Stiles asks, getting a nod. "So what do we do? Just sit here and wait to die?"

Y/n shrugs, glancing up at Jackson. "Maybe I could so something."

"Unless you wanna end up like us. I need to try and figure out a way to push the toxin out of my body faster. Like triggering the healing process." Derek states.

After that, hearing something, Y/n moves her head to look as Stiles moves his eyes, seeing the werewolf was digging his now opening claws into his leg, to which Stiles scrunches his face up in disgust. All of a sudden, the lights in the station cut out and the sound of gunshots soon rang through the ear. Jumping, Y/n found herself covering her head as she crouched over Stiles and Derek, hoping to protect them.

Eventually, they stopped and smoke could be seen outside the office. Derek had been moving more when Scott had ran inside, Jackson now somewhere else. Quickly, Y/n helped the buzzcut boy up, his arm over her shoulders as Scott was on the other side of Stiles and following Derek's demands, they were rushing out, closing and locking all the doors that were being pushed opened by Jackson.

Seeing that the door wasn't being kicked open by Jackson when they were in a room, right next to where Scott's mom and Stiles' dad were at, Scott and Y/n placed Stiles on a chair, the werewolf demanding them to both stay inside and for the girl to keep watch before he headed out, ready to deal with what was happening.

Hearing commotion in the other room, promising Stiles she'd be back, Y/n rushes to the room where Stilinski and Melissa were at, seeing Scott's mom in a cell, locked up with Stilinski laying on the floor. Matt was there, his back facing the girl as he listen to Melissa's pleas of seeing her son, the last time she having seen him when he was shot, showing she didn't know about him.

Sneaking up behind Matt, Y/n places her finger to her lips when Melissa's eyes slightly looked to her and next thing Matt knew, her arms were wrapped around his shoulders and neck as she tried to grab the weapon he had in his hand, her arm squeezing near his neck.

Unfortunately, Matt was able to grab ahold of her hand on the gun, twisting it before elbowing her in the face, not even knowing who it is as she stumbled to the floor. His gun was soon aimed at her, a tsk sound leaving him at the sight, his feet slowly stepping closer to her, watching her back away, nose slowly flowing down her nose.

However, he stopped at the sound of loud huffing, head snapping over to see Derek standing there, eyes glowing red as he was now in his werewolf form. The Kanima was next and the two creatures were soon fighting, all while Melissa watched with wide eyes full of fear at the sight of these sudden creatures she's never seen before.

Matt had been quick to run out of the room as Y/n stumbled to her feet, rushing towards Melissa and the woman grabbed the teenager's hand through the bars. Jackson's attention soon went to both of them, crawling towards them but before he could do anything, Scott was running in as a werewolf, claws digging into the creature's back.

The Kanima ran off and Derek was after him as Scott slowly turned his head to face his mother when her cries rang through his ears, revealing his supernatural side to her. Melissa found herself slowly backing up, hand leaving Y/n's as she covered her mouth in shock and fear. Not being able to face his mother, Scott turned around and ran off, leaving Y/n to try and speak to the woman.
