As for who was winning this battle... Ava couldn't tell. She spun around, eyes searching for the people on her side, but was struggling to tell who was who with all the people fighting.
She had only figured out where Scott Lang ( also known as ant-man! ) was because of the giant truck that appeared out of seemingly nowhere and rolled towards who's he suspected was War Machine.
She realised that the truck must've been shrunk, and he'd made it enlarge again... although she didn't really understand his tech.
Is it supposed to be on fire? Ava though to herself as she watched the truck practically explode. After the explosion, she spotted Scott and Steve running away from it.
"Alright, now I'm pissed." Rhodey spoke into his comms, seething in anger.
Meanwhile, Tony made his way to Natasha, helping the former-assassin up from the ground as she squinted at him. "Is this part of the plan?" She asked him, raising an eyebrow.
"Well, my plan was to go easy on them. You wanna switch it up?" He questioned, almost rhetorically.
"There's our ride!" Clint spoke to Wanda, gesturing towards the Quinjet after he had spotted it through the battlefield. Steve and a few others weren't far behind the two.
"Come on!" Steve shouted as they got closer to the Quinjet.
Pietro grabbed Ava, speeding them over towards the Quinjet, but he was stopped abruptly as soon as he saw the beam of energy fizzle through the ground.
Steve's team looked up to see Vision, the stone in his forehead glowing viciously after stopping the team in their path.
"Captain Rogers," Vision began speaking, hovering in the air. "I know you believe what you're doing is right, but for the sake of the collective good... you must surrender now." Vision told them, attempting to be a voice of reason.
He doesn't understand.
Tony's team gathered on the opposite side of the line Vision had created — and suddenly it all became very real and clear as to who was with who.
Sam was the first to speak up, saying, "What do we do, Cap?" He looked over to the soldier, seeing the man's jaw set in finality.
"We fight."
On the other side, Natasha glanced sparingly at her team. "This is gonna end well." She said as the two teams began striding towards one another with purpose.
Ava hated this.
Ohana...
She took another step, locking eyes with Natasha. She tried to see reason within the woman's eyes, but realised she was too far away to see anything.
Ava looked at Steve, seeing the grim determination on his face — he knew they had to do this. Tony wouldn't stop... so neither would he.
Ohana..
"They're not stopping." Spider-Man said, as if he was surprised — as if he'd expected the opposing side to become scared and back off.
"Neither are we." Tony told him, and the whole team. This was it.
Ohana.
Both teams broke into a run, except for those who could fly and Pietro, who stood behind. He rolled his eyes at their dramatics, because he could've had every single one of them at the other team by now. Easily.
Ohana
Steve blocked a punch from Tony, the sound of metal clanging in the battlefield as people from their respective teams attacked their opposers.
Clint pulled an arrow back and fired it straight toward Vision, who had seen the move coming.
Ava watched Sam fly overhead, and soon saw Rhodey following after him — chasing him through the skies.
Ohan—
T'Challa went straight for Bucky, attacking him with little mercy in his strikes. Bucky fought back equally hard — although he never did anything that would permanently damage the new king.
An arrow soared through the air, hitting Tony as he was fighting Steve, before exploding in a cloud of oranges and yellows, being followed by a putrid smell that Ava despised.
Pietro ran straight at Jackson, tripping the young man and making him fall on his back. Ava watched with wide eyes as the boy's eyes glowed an almost yellow colour, before he sent a wave of fire towards her guardian.
Natasha pulled Scott over her shoulder roughly, making the man groan as he made contact with the hard ground.
Oha—
Wanda's hands were glowing a bright red as she swung them around in the air, hurtling many vehicles at the young Spider-Man, who struggled to avoid them all as he jumped through the air.
Bucky managed to land a harsh punch to T'Challa, sending the man reeling backwards through the air, barely making a sound as he landed on his back against the ground.
Ava's eyes filled with tears as she crouched low to the ground, placing her hands down on the cold material before pushing her fingers down so harshly she felt the ground crack.
Clint and Natasha were soon battling with their batons, trading hits with one another before Clint managed to get the upper hand. He pressed his bow against his friend, keeping her pinned to the ground.
"We're still friends, right?" Natasha asked him, almost jokingly, although he knew better. He smiled tightly at his red-headed friend.
"Depends on how hard you hit me!" Clint replied, before Natasha used her legs to spin him around, making her stand high above him.
Natasha was about to kick the man in the head — which would efficiency stop him getting involved any further — when her foot was stopped in mid-air. She looked around, barely seeing Wanda before the woman had thrown her away from Clint.
"You were pulling your punches." Wanda accused the man, although not harshly or nastily, she was just stating the obvious as he stood from the ground.
The two locked eyes as Clint nodded his head, almost sheepishly.
Oh—
T'Challa and Bucky were fighting close to where Ava was crouched, both with a hand on the other's neck.
"I didn't kill your father!" Bucky told the man, and he could practically feel the man's eyes narrow at him angrily.
"Then why did you run?" T'Challa asked, prying Bucky's hand from his neck, and performing a spin-kick that sent the former soldier flying backwards.
He didn't crash land, however, as a white power burst through the ground, cushioning the man's falling and allowing him to land safely.
"Maybe he ran because you lunatics were— were trying to kill him!" Ava scoffed out, raising her head to gaze over her shoulder at the king of Wakanda. It didn't stop him, though.
T'Challa went forward quickly, his claws slipping out with a rather satisfying sound as he crept towards the man who supposedly killed his father. The King went for Bucky's neck, but before he could get any closer, the cushion behind Bucky wrapped around his waist, pulling him away form the Black Panther.
Wanda has also noticed the King's movement, and had wrapped his hand in a red glow and thrown him backwards, sending the man into a passenger gangway.
O—
Her family was being torn apart before her eyes. And that was all Ava could thing as she surveyed the battle around her, releasing her power from around Bucky and setting him free.
Peter swung past Steve, the star-spangled man
( with a rather vague plan ) using his shield to sever the boy's web. Peter recovered quickly, though.
"That thing does not obey the laws of physics, at all." He claimed, eyeing the shield that the captain possessed.
"Look, kid," Steve attempted to reason, "there's a lot going on here that you don't understand." Steve told the boy, who nodded his head almost mockingly.
"Mr. Stark said you would say that. Wow." Peter replied, before shooting two webs — one went for the man's shield, the other gripped his ankle. He pulled harshly, making Steve slide towards him — before the man could do anything, Spider-Man had kicked him and sent him flying away, before proceeding to roll clear.
"He also said to go for your legs." Peter told the man pointedly, as Tony had been proven right in his advice.
Steve immediately went to go for his shield, but Peter webbed you his hands, pulling Steve towards him.
Captain America gritted his teeth, before spinning and doing a somersault, propelling Peter through the air.
Falcon sped through the air, with Iron Man on his tail, closing in with every passing second. Tony shot at Sam, not hitting him, but making him worried.
"Clint, can you get him off me?" Sam spoke into his comms, weaving through Tony's fire.
"Buckled in?" Clint asked Scott, who nodded — although Clint couldn't actually see that, because the man was so small.
"Yeah. No, I'm good. I'm good, arrow guy! Let's go. Let's go!" Scott psyched himself up, perched on the arrowhead of Clint's arrow — the man had the bowstring pulled back, ready to shoot.
At Scott's words, Clint let the arrow soar.
It went straight for Tony, the head splitting from the part that Tony had shot at — Scott was launched forwards, diving through Tony's slightly spread fingers, and he entered the man's suit at the shoulder junction.
Steve caught the web that Peter shot at him, tugging the material and making Spider-Man come closer to him. When the boy was close enough, Steve used his infamous shield to knock the hero down.
Peter recovered quickly, pulling himself to stand on stop of a gangway.
"Stark tell you anything else?" Steve asked, almost bitterly — he and Tony were meant to be friends. But the superhero had told this kid about him, and even given the guy tips on how to beat him!
"That you're wrong," Peter spoke, "you think you're right. That makes you dangerous."
Steve repressed a scoff as Peter swung down from the gangway, but Steve was quick to kick the boy into the leg of the gangway — he was easily winning against the kid.
"Guess he had a point." Steve acknowledged, before throwing his shield against the other side of the gangway, making it collapse upon Spider-Man. Peter was quick to put his hands up against the metal, suspending it in the air above his head.
"You got heart, kid. Where you from?"
"Queens." Peter told him with a slightly strained voice — the giant chunk of material was heavy, even with his strength.
"Brooklyn." Steve replied, before running away from the struggling boy.
—
Ava watched Spider-Man as he struggled to keep the gangway from falling and crushing his skull. She felt bad for the boy — it became clear quickly that he hadn't been in such an intense battle before.
She felt for him.
Running over, Ava tried to keep her breathing steady as she glanced behind her for anybody watching what she was doing.
Nobody.
Stopping a little ways away from the superhero, she clutched the ground once again, and soon enough, a large shard of her power speared from the ground, going straight through the gangway and keeping it upright.
Peter let his arms fall to his sides in relief as he felt the weight of the gangway disappear. His eyes soon focused in on the ginger, who was crouch down at the ground, eyes glowing.
When her eyes dimmed, she smiled at Spider-Man, a large grin that made Peter smile back, although she couldn't actually see that.
"Ava." She told him, gesturing to herself, and watched as he debated slightly, before he made a decision.
"Peter." He replied, nodding at her before watching as she took off in the other direction, back towards the fight.
