chapter six

Here's the update guys!

I'm sorry if you think it's taking too long for their children to play matchmaker or something but we just need to build their relationship with the other Avengers and with their parents as well.

As well as the degrading relationship of Staron and Brutasha.

It might take a while... but I promise you the moment it happens it's going to be epic and full of fluff.

You're going to love the plans the two Rogers and their Uncle Tony have in mind for their dear Steve and Natasha.

"Wakey! Wakey!"

James felt a sudden weight at his feet. He peeled his eyes slightly only to get irritated at the person whose voice belonged to.

"Let me have some peace, Allie." he whined, covering his face with a pillow.

She rolled her eyes. "Get up, James."

"Why are you up so early anyway?"

"The alarm went off."

"Oh really? I must've missed it then."

She pulled the sheets off him in one swift motion. "Get up!"

James shot up like a bat and glared at her in the best way he could. "Never do that again."

Then he kicked her to the side, making her lose her balance and fall to the floor. He went back to lie down once more and bury himself in the sheets.

Allie narrowed her eyes. "We need to get to work! Aren't you forgetting we're already officially SHIELD agents?"

"So?" he murmured.

"So you need to get off your lazy big ass and start working it off, James Grant Rogers. Uncle Tony definitely gave us a pile to do," she said, a hint of annoyance was noticeable in her tone.

He lifted the pillow to look at her with doubtful eyes. "Seriously?"

"Seriously," she confirmed.

It took James a full-on ten seconds, contemplating whether to just skip work and lie in this comfy bed the whole morning, or get awfully up and start doing his chores.

He sighed, rubbing his eyes tiredly. "I'm starting to miss the days where I'd have a beautiful hologram of Melissa Benoist in her supergirl outfit waking me up every morning."

"I didn't know you were a fan of DCEU." mused Allie, her eyes twinkling with amusement.

"I'm not." he deduced then shrugged, "but she's hot."

Allie scoffed. "MCU has waaaaaay hotter female heroes."

James gasped. "Excuse me but have you seen Gal Gadot as the new Wonder Woman?" He shook his head in disapproval. "I'm embarrassed to call you my sister."

Steve Rogers watched as the two agents went in the elevator, noticing that it had finally granted them access the second it read their fingerprint.

Tony must have probably reworked it already. he thought.

Although, despite being fond of them, there was a strange feeling creeping at the back of his mind whenever he's around those two. He couldn't help but agree with his girlfriend that there was, in fact, something suspicious about them.

He pulled away from his thoughts when he felt a soft kiss planted on his cheek. The captain was greeted by the sight of Sharon, dressed in her gym clothes.

"Hey babe," she smiled.

"Hello to you too." he returned it warmly, taking in what she was wearing and asking, "Training?"

Sharon nodded. "Just heading up now. I didn't get to spar yesterday. And I did promise Sam I would take his ass down."

Steve chuckled. "I'm sure you'd have him on the floor in five minutes."

"You're just trying to make me feel stronger than I really am." she asserted.

The thought of it never even crossed his mind but nevertheless made his ears turned pink as he stammered. "W-What? But you are strong, sweetheart. Everyone knows that." A lopsided smile was etched on his face. "Well, probably not as strong as me but still—impressive."

Sharon rolled her eyes but couldn't fight the grin crawling its way to her lips. "You just had to add that last part, don't you soldier?"

"I'm sorry?"

She suddenly leaned in to plant a full-one on his lips. Steve was taken off by surprise and had to recalibrate a few seconds before regaining his senses and returned the kiss with little effort.

Sharon noticed this and pulled away, "Something wrong?" she asked, worriedly.

"No—I uh..." he coughed, flustering up. "Took me by surprise that's all."

She looked at him in doubt.

Steve sighed. "Just wondering about the two agents."

Sharon did not need a memo to know who he was talking about. Her expression turned to one completely down, all playfulness fell from her face. "Allie and James Rogan?"

The captain immediately noticed the iciness in her tone. "You don't seem to like them very much, do you?"

"Do you?" she shot back.

"Uh... I wouldn't exactly say I like them but I don't hate them." he answered.

"Hate is a strong word. I would prefer to use the term dislike."

"It's the same thing."

"No, it's not."

Sharon's dominant tone quickly overshadowed Steve's and all words that he was about to say died down in his throat. Her tone quickly told him that their conversation was over and she had to have the final word in this.

The tension around them suddenly escalated to a whole new level of awkwardness. The atmosphere was suffocating. Steve didn't even know what to do — should he say something? Apologize?

Choosing the safest—probably stupidest too—option, he remained quiet.

Sharon broke the silence when a sigh escaped her lips. "Look, I gotta go. If you're not going up, can you at least meet me right after your meeting with the team is over?"

He nodded, "Okay."

"Okay." she said, before walking away.

Steve took a deep breath, running a hand through his blonde hair in confusion. What was the matter with him? Why did he always have this rising urge to defend those two agents — that he barely knows may he add — to the point that he'd have this small quarrel with his girlfriend?

Just who were they?

It was rather odd, actually. He felt like he knew them from somewhere—had seen them from somewhere, but he couldn't exactly pinpoint what nor when.

A strange feeling of familiarity indeed.

—————————————————————————————

"You want us to do what?"

Tony shoved the plunger in his hands. "Use this plunger. Go to the first floor. Enter the bathroom. Put the plunger in the toilet. Unclog it. Flush it. Then it should be perfectly good as new!"

Allie's eyes twitched.

James looked at him incredulously. "You're serious?"

Tony pointed at his humorless look. "Does this face look like it's kidding around?"

"Every time, as a matter of fact." the blonde retorted.

"Aww... James." Tony placed a hand on his chest, frowning. "You're going to break your uncle's heart."

He groaned. "Uncle Tony—"

"Nope. My decision's final. Go clean the stinky toilets." he ordered, pointing a finger that's headed straight for the door.

"But don't you have the janitors for that?" Allie exclaimed, already looking grossed out at the thought of going through an unsanitized bathroom filled with... unwanted organisms.

"And don't we have you guys for that?" Tony replied with an evil smirk. "Besides, you want to blend in no? And you asked for my help in bringing your parents together."

"How on earth are cleaning toilets going to get mom and dad together?" Allie demanded.

The billionaire rolled his eyes. "Patience, young cricket. Patience is the key to succeeding."

"Uncle Tony!"

He winced at the high-pitched voice. "All right, all right. And didn't I tell you to stop calling me uncle?"

"Just tell us what the plan is." said James.

Before Tony could speak again, a deep voice boomed through the hallway.

"Lady Natasha! Captain Rogers!"

Tony face-palmed the same time the two siblings stiffened. "Oh great..." he muttered, peeking through his own fingers to see the Asgardian God coming their way.

Allie turned around just in time for her to be squished in the man's grip. She stifled a gasp and simply returned the hug awkwardly—patting his back.

"Woah..." she muttered.

"It has been a while and I'm delighted to see you again. Both you and the captain— what?" Thor paused the second his eyes landed on James.

James froze. His Uncle Thor was certainly still scary and intimidating just as he is in their time. He swallowed nervously, "Hey, Uncl—Thor. It's Thor right?"

He wanted to smack himself for almost slipping up a few times now.

Thor continued to stare at him with wary eyes which only made James more uncomfortable and nervous. Tony was the one to point out that he needed to let the poor girl in his grip go.

The Asgardian's jaw dropped when he saw an unfamiliar face. "You're not... Lady Natasha."

"A few tweaks would ought to do it." she kidded.

James rolled his eyes at his sister's antics. Even at a time like this, she still makes witty remarks.

Thor looked even more confused, "I do not understand."

"Thor, meet our new recruits." Tony introduced, steering the conversation into a new subject to prevent him from digging any further. "This is Agent Allie and James Rogan."

"Oh," he mustered up a friendly smile, "It's a pleasure to meet the both of you. I'm sorry about earlier," he turned to the redhead, "You look incredibly a lot like Lady Natasha. I have mistaken you for her. I'm sorry."

She waved it off. "It's fine, Thor. I get that a lot. And nice to meet you too."

Then he turned to James, a hearty chuckle sounded from his lips. "And your resemblance with Captain Rogers is uncanny."

James attempted to laugh it off but it sounded strained. "Now where have I heard that before?"

"Don't take it as a compliment. He means you look like a 90-year old virgin too." Tony smirked.

His nephew glared daggers at him.

"Are you sure you both are not related to either of them?" questioned Thor, looking back and forth between them. "Because this is very strange."

"Oh..." Allie started, chuckling. "You have no idea."

As Thor excused himself from their conversation, all three had to heave a sigh of relief.

"That was close." James echoed.

"We seriously need to speed things up." said Allie, worriedly. "Tell us the plan, Tony."

"Are you sure you're ready to hear this?" asked Tony.

"Whatever it is, we'll deal with it." said James, eyeing the plunger in his hands.

Tony gave them one of his signature smirks once more.

—————————————————————————————

Natasha was just on her way up to the meeting room when she decided to stop by the restroom for a bit. She washed her hands and was about to dry them when she heard a familiar voice from one of the cubicles.

"Ah, shit!" The voice said.

She dried her hands using a tissue instead and walked nearer to the cubicle. The spy leaned closer to the door when the person spoke again — "I know you're out there by the door."

Natasha smiled slyly. She was good.

She pushed open the door and saw Allie slumped over the floor with a bunch of cleaning tools in her hand while a bucket filled with soapy water sat beside her. Her eyebrows rose from the sight, "Allie?"

"Hey Natasha." she greeted. Still not used to the fact of calling her mom by her first name.

"What are you doing?" she asked with a laugh.

"What does it look like?" Allie retorted, scrubbing the edges of the toilet. "Tony made me do this."

"That smartass," Natasha mumbled under her breath. "Why? Doesn't he know we have janitors for this?"

"That's what I said!" she exclaimed, standing up from where she was before grabbing the plunger. "Then he gave me this."

Natasha grimaced, feeling sympathy for the young agent. "Tough break, kid."

"I have to be stuck down here for cleaning this while James is having the time of his life arranging the gym." Allie complained. "It's not fair."

"Well, with Tony, nothing's ever fair." her mom remarked, "How long have you been here?"

"Uh... about an hour I think so?"

"What do you say you come up with me and ditch those?" Natasha offered, grinning. "It would piss the hell out of Tony."

"Won't I get in trouble for that?" Allie bit her lip.

The spy looked at her flatly. "Isn't this pretty much a punishment already?"

"Good point." she agreed, before speaking again, "but—"

"Ugh. Too many words. Just come with me." Natasha grabbed her wrist and without a word, led her out of the restroom.

"But don't you have like a meeting?" asked Allie.

"Allie Rogan, just stop complaining and keep your mouth shut. You'll thank me later."

And so she did.

And she couldn't help but think it's been quite awhile since her mom ever did this kind of thing for her.

—————————————————————————————

James shouldn't be slacking off from work. But he couldn't help himself. Whenever he's at the gym or training room, he always gets carried away. A habit that he took after his dad.

So here he was, practicing shadow movements inside the ring. He was thankful that his uncle assigned him here and not in the restrooms.

Slightly, he felt sorry for his dear sister. Slightly.

"James, right?"

The seventeen-year-old blonde averted his gaze from the front and turned around, catching sight of Sharon Carter.

"Oh, hi." The surprise was evident in his tone. "Yes, it's James."

"I'm not sure we've been introduced properly before." she offered a hand. "I'm Sharon Carter."

It's not like he doesn't know her, anyway. He took her outstretched hand, "It's nice to meet you, Agent Carter."

Just when James started to retreat his hand, he noticed that she wasn't showing any sign of letting go. "Uh..." he said awkwardly.

Sharon noticed this and smiled sheepishly. "Oh! Sorry about that."

"It's fine." he forced a smile.

But it wasn't fine at all. James suddenly felt a little uncomfortable with the fact that it was just the two of them alone in this gym. Him and his Aunt Sharon.

"So, you're training I see?" she asked casually.

"Yeah," he said, wiping the sweat that trickled down his forehead. "I was originally supposed to just arrange the gym..." he absentmindedly looked around. "but the next thing I knew I was up here doing punches."

Sharon grinned, amused. "You remind me a lot like someone."

"Lemme guess..." he said flatly. "Steve Rogers?"

"You don't sound too pleased." she deduced, a crease appeared on her forehead.

James took a sharp intake of breath, figuring out how to put this lightly. "It's not that I'm not pleased. It's just getting kind of... tiring to hear."

"You've been told this a few times?" asked Sharon.

"A lot." he corrected. "Definitely, a lot of times."

"Well then," Sharon smirked at him, making James suddenly nervous. He knew those smirks. He'd seen it all the time when his mom would tease his dad whenever they were alone. "If you do look like Steve, I could only hope that you're just as strong as him too."

"I don't..." James quickly caught onto what she was saying and turned down the offer. "I don't think this is a good idea."

"Why not?" Sharon challenged. "Scared to get beaten down by a woman?"

It earned her an amused laugh from James. "Excuse me?"

"You heard me," Sharon said with a look of determination, not backing down from her stance. "What do you say? A one on one sparring?"

James was suddenly reminded that this woman—as of the moment—turns out to be his dad's girlfriend. The thought was enough to creep and gross him out.

He shuddered inwardly.

"But aren't you with... Steve?"

She raised an eyebrow at his sudden insinuation. "Yeah?"

"So, is this okay? I mean, is it alright for him for you to be fighting—" James was trying hard to think of possible excuses to not have this match with her. It would be way too uncomfortable and awkward.

Add onto the looks and smiles his aunt was currently throwing him right now.

"It's fine." she interjected, giving him a sweet smile while batting her lashes. "It's just a sparring match. Nothing more."

Oh, sweet baby Jesus. James fought the urge to gag.

She was definitely flirting with him. Before he could even get a word in, Sharon started to take off her shoes and flung them to the side.

"You ready?" she asked.

Nope. Not at all. James gulped before responding shakily, "Y-Yeah."

—————————————————————————————

"Where are you taking me?" Allie asked.

"To the gym." Natasha answered curtly.

"What?" she gaped. "The gym again? I've been on this facility for three days now and all I've been through is the gym, the lounge, the lobby, the bathroom, or my room. It's getting pretty boring."

"What are you expecting to see? A secret tunnel? A magical portal?" Natasha arched an eyebrow at her.

"No," she quickly denied. "I just... expected something else." Home. she added mentally. She was still expecting to feel at home in all of these.

Natasha hummed. "If it helps you any better, we're having like... sort of... a team bonding or whatever later night. You could join us if you want to. You and your brother."

"A what now?" she asked, dumbfounded.

"It's a thing we do as a team when we're free from missions. Since that's a rare case to happen, we spend the most of it chilling out and relaxing." explained Natasha.

"Oh," she said. "That sounds nice."

"It is nice." the spy asserted, a smile lingering on her face. "We play twister and a bunch of board games. Eat chips, chocolates, mess the place up, sometimes even sing karaoke while we're drunk. And if we just really like to hang out, we just.. sit and talk."

Allie's eyes twinkled with amazement. "Like a family."

Natasha looked surprised at her conclusion but did not deny it. "Like a family." she agreed.

Now that was the home she's been missing out for awhile now.

"Hey listen," Natasha glanced at her watch. "I really need to get going or else I'll be late. You know your way to the gym right?"

"Of course I do. I'm eighteen not five." she sassed.

"Whatever." The spy frowned but you could see the amusement in her emerald-green eyes. "See you, Allie."

"See you. Thanks for the talk and for... saving me down there."

She chuckled, "No problem."

As Natasha walked out from her sight, she took the time to head straight to the gym. By the time she got there, she quickly called out— "James!"

Only the sound of someone grunting and punching and kicking was heard across the room.

"James?" she tried one more time.

Then a loud thud was heard.

"James!" She called, rushing to where the sound came from.

The second she turned from a corner, her jaw went agape at the scene in front of her.

James was pinned down to the floor while Sharon straddled him by the waist. Both of her hands were pressed to either side of his face, their faces were in close proximity while their chests rose heavily.

Her brother was unmoving, frozen in spot, and looking at their aunt with widened eyes.

Allie felt her stomach drop in horror to his feet. She really felt like throwing up now.

"James!" she shouted.

Both heads turned to her direction and each had the same look of shock on their faces. James, dangerously beet red, held out a hand as if to make a point— "It's not what it looks like!"

Sharon quickly got up at the same time James scrambled away from her. He got off the ring and ran straight to his sister.

"Oh my God." Allie blinked, trying to erase the image she had just seen.

"It's not what it looked like. I swear to God. It's not what you think, sis." James didn't know if he was getting red from the training, or because of what just happened. Probably both. He was struggling to explain the scenario with detail.

Because at the position they were in earlier, it certainly looked like that.

"I feel queasy. I think I'm going to..." Allie gagged, holding her stomach in place.

"Allie—"

"Excuse me while I try to erase that mental image of you and Aunt Sharon from my brain." she said under her breath.

"It's not what you think!" he hissed.

"Yup, I'm definitely going to barf."

Allie quickly rushed out of the gym to head straight for the nearest restroom while James quickly followed right after her.

Sharon smirked inwardly at the two agents who disappeared from the scene.

They were right. James Rogan both have the looks and personality of Steve Rogers. If he's anything like Steve, she was sure that she could trust him as much as she does with the others too.

"One down..." she stared at the door the two just left in. "One more to go."

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ E N D ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

That was weird... alright it's DEFINITELY weird.

But it gets better I promise. This chapter sucked but the next chapter is going to be full of Steve/Nat moments with Allie and James.

ANYWAYS...
