I woke up to the sound of footsteps, fluttering my eyes open to the sun shining in the window.
After last night everyone thought it was best to stick together and off the radar so  we all crashed at the wreck sleeping on tabled and chairs. Using tablecloths  as blankets and eachother as pillows.

i wiped the corner of my mouth sitting up seeing jj leaning on the door frame along with pope

" he's pinched for sure man " jj said flipping his lighter" no. They wouldn't still be patrolling if they caught him " pope voiced ,I stood up and walked over to them

" you know ... we were in that car they've probably looking for us, too. " kie pointed out" well if we're gonna be outlaws we might as well help john b " pope said

" so find him before they do ?"I questioned as pope took jjs keys" pope?"

" I'm gonna get gas for the boat " pope announced" hey, you be careful " kie spoke" meet me at the dock at three don't be late" pope ignored her and looked at me and jj then walking out

i looked over at kie with furrowed brows,She stood up walking out of the door after pope ,jj and i following" okay, what is your problem?" She shouted" no problem, officer. I'm just doing my job " pope said getting on the bike,Kiara tried talking to him but pope just revved the engine every time she spoke driving away with hostility

As kie walked back towards the wreck I heard a helicopter. I looked up to see one right above" who the hell is that ?" JJ asked" I'm assuming back up for john b " I stated, my stomach turning.

" if there getting back up we should start getting ready " kie said walking past me and jj and back into the wreck jj and i followed

" alex can you grab those empty boxes over there ?" Kie asked" mmh" I walked over and put the boxes on the counter" I cant believe popes acting like this " kie said putting a loaf of bread in the box" you sure he wasn't just being weird pope? " jj asked as she loaded more food into the box

" it wasn't really the kind of thing that needed interpretation. " kie closed the full box and handed it to jj" I mean you did reject him ..." I said as she puts a couple of cans in the next box

" for good reason ." She excused herself putting more food in the box" why is that ?" I asked

" no pogue on pogue macking " she closed the box"i smell something..."i scrunched up my face in disgust" oh.. oh thats right. bullshit"i said just as she topped off the box. she tilted her head with an un-amussed look flipping me off " its true and you know it" i raised my eyebrows " whatever ...Do you think this'll be enough food for them ?" She asked" I mean , for a couple of weeks, and that's all they need, so..." I took the box from the counter.

" I think I actually hurt his feelings " kie sighed as she took her keys off the counter" look, don't beat yourself up too much . He's completely changed his feels . The past 24 hours have been Jekyll and hyde " jj said as we walked out of the wreck and walked to kiaras car" I hate to admit it but I miss the old pope" kie says unlocking her car

Me and jj put the two boxes in her trunk" where you been?" Anna asked walking up to kie" uh-- I'm fine . I slept here " kie said as jj closed the trunk" well, we were up half the night , scared to death, lookin for you ." Anna voiced

" were you even gonna tell us ?"

" well I'm telling you now " kie said

" alright, what the hell are you three up to ?" Anna asked

" I'm sorry , miss anna, we gotta go." i vocalized, my heart ached, they had never done me wrong before when sarah i were dating and kie and i were always hanging out  i was like family to them" no. I'm sorry absolutely not " mrs. Carrera tried to stop us I opened the back door getting in

" kiara these cops are armed !"

Jj and kie got in the car

" I'm sorry . John b needs me " kie pleaded her eyes growing red" kiara . Please "Anna continued to call for her as we drove away

The car ride to jj's was pretty silent We pulled up to the yellowish beige house." home sweet home " jj grunted as we sat at the front of his house" you want me to go in with you ?" I asked him

" nah, this will only take a second " he said then getting out of the car,Once jj had walked inside I opened the back door getting out

" alexis , he said not to go " kie voiced" I'm not , I'm just waiting , and if I hear something I might ... check it out " i leaned on the car door

" do you think he'll be able to get the keys?" kie asked

" he's jj of course he will" I chuckled turning my head into the open car window

We sat there for a minute waiting for jj , when I saw him walk out with red irritated eyes

" hey? You ok?" I asked placing a soft hand on him as he got to the car" mmh" he nodded then opening the car door and letting himself in, i knew it wasn't true but it really wasn't the time to push. so i got in the car.

" how'd it go ?" Kie asked

JJ held the keys in his hand letting them hang from his fingers" let's go save john b " his lips lifted to a smile"alright" i tapped on the front seat of the car

Sirens blared as cop cars drove past us." shit" i  ducked down before lifting my head back up" there still looking that's a good sign " I said

After a small drive we made it to the garage where the phantom was kept,JJ pushed open the metal door" there she be " jj said as we all walked into the storage facility

" 1983 formula 402 SR1.the phantom " jj said pulling off the tarp that covered the front" the first boat to make the run to Bermuda in under 16 hours. Forty years old . Fourty and still the fastest thing that Kildare's ever seen "j admired the boat i gave a small smile when he looked to see if i was listening" it's kind of a junker" kie utterd

" Really Kie ? She's right here . She can hear you " I gasped" alright you can make fun of me all you want but if it wasn't for her you wouldn't be smoking weed right now " jj said flipping the keys in his hand

"Thank God for her than" I scoffed out a laugh

" I just hope it runs " kie said as jj attached the tow to the back of kiara's car" oh no she'll run alright. She's faster than any cutters the boys in blue got. " jj said as we heard tires screech from the other side of the garage

" pope! Finally!" Kie said walking over to the back of the boat

" hey there wars going on ?" Rafe walked out from behind the boat " jj? How you guys doing ?"my heart pounded.cant catch a break i turned to my right to see Barry walking into the garage as well. You've gotta be kidding

" well well, yeah you don't think I forgot about our little thing on the side of the tide now do you?" Barry cocked his gun holding it in jj's face.

I pulled my knife as I tried to go over and help jj.Rafe grabbed my wrist pulling me into a headlock and grabbing my knife

" fun little toy here ain't it " rafe flipped it in his hands before tightening his arms around my neck

As it got harder to breathe I looked at jj who was fighting Barry

Kiara tried to rip Rafe off of me causing him to throw me to the ground and go for kie.

" its not you we want ... alright wheres john b " rafe said as I caught my breath

" we know what you did . You killed peterkin " kies voice shook

I heaved myself off the ground weak but still able to fight.my throat raw from his grip

I grabbed my knife from rafes hand

Then going over and trying to help jj
Hitting barry on the back of the head with the blunt end of my knife causing him to drop

" shit watch out " I said as I saw barry get up,Elbowing him in the chest

Me and jj heard kie screaming and turned

We ran over to help but out of nowhere pope came and hit rafe with a metal pipe

Once rafe was down pope tried tying rope around his neck

" pope!"

" that's enough"

" he's had enough!"

" look at me!" Kie shouted

Pope dropped the rope causing rafe to drop to the floor

" c'mon, we gotta go" I said running to the car and hoping in the passenger seat . Kie, pope,and jj following

We drove quickly over to the dock as we saw the storm roll in

" where is he ?" I asked pacing, my hands running through my hair

" he'll be here give him a second " pope reassured

" he'll be fine " jj said as he made sure everything was set for john b

All of a sudden we heard sirens wailing and a cop car drove up

" shit ! Get back on the boat ." I panicked,I hoped on the boat as the car door opened

" wait , john b ?" I questioned then stepping off the boat

It was him . Thank god" shouppe let me take it for a ride " john b said as I ran up hugging him.i let go after a short while. i knew this would be the last hug from my brother for a while...

" okay . That's believable, I buy that " kie voiced then hugging him as well

" it wasn't easy bro but I got the phantom and she runs like she was made yesterday . " jj tossed the keys to john " you ready to go ?"

" where's sarah? " john b asked

" she's not with you ?" i asked

" no, we got separated in the swamp . She says she was gonna meet me here " john b panicked

" no, we haven't seen her " I said with a frown

" okay well I'm not leaving without her" jb vocalized

" john b , look at me . I know you feel guilty for leaving but theres no time . You got food and plenty of gas . Once you get around the point , it's a straight shot across the sound to dismel swamp ok? And once you get there , lay low , alright? Hang out for a couple of weeks then go overland, cross the boarder at Brownsville, you got that ?" Jj voiced

" yeah-- yeah, Brownsville" john b said as jj hoped off the boat

" alright. Saddle her up , saltwater cowboy. Lets do this ." JJ encouredged

John b got on the boat . JJ and pope went to the front to push it off

" hey. Hey .I'm sorry for basically throwing us off a cliff" john b apologized

" eh, it's alright were bound to run off a cliff at some point right" jj said as I felt my eyes tear up

" at least we did it together though . Pogue style " I gathered my friends hooking my arms around them

" now get out of here please" kie said

" well see you in Mexico in two months." Pope utterd

" love you bee " I said as he got in the drivers seat, mty tears just  wavering on my waterline

" love you too , lexi" he said then backing out and driving away

We all waved

" you okay?" I asked as jj walked away from the dock

" I'm alright , well see him again " jj hooked his arm around my neck

" yeah ...." I said before me and jj saw pope and kie kiss

I sat in confusion and shock for a second before hearing sirens pull up

" uh guys ! Sorry to ruin the party but we gotta go " jj said
Us then trying to run

Cop cars pulled up in front of us
Shouppe getting out "hands up everyone!" he shouted

We all held our hands up...everyone besides pope.

" pope"

" hands up ! Move !" Hands up" the sbi person instructed

Pope put his hands up

" where is he ?" Shouppe asked

We stayed silent
" jj i see your living up to your name. Pope? This isnt a fucking game " shouppe said

After they knew they weren't getting anything out of us
we were directed into a car

On the car ride to wherever we were going the sun went down and it started raining

we pulled up to a place where a bunch of tents were set up" follow plumb to that tent " shouppe said as I got out along with my friends .I followed deputy plumb into the tent , sitting down on a white plastic folding chair

" sit down don't move .... we've got a lot to talk about " shouppe said.We waited, and waited. with no clue what was going on, if john b  got away...if he found sarah my heart couldn't settle. my hands trembling.  jj reached over laying his hand on mine "he's gonna be fine" he reasurred me. i nodded with a small smile 

 Eventually we saw people running around everything looked chaotic for a few minutes until heads were faced to the floor and people were quiet.

 i watched  shouppe walk in him soaked with rain  his head low.We all stood up quickly

" did you find them?" Pope asked Shouppe shook his head still having  the same  dark expression on his face.

" so they got away " kie assumed trying to be positive.

" we uh.. we lost them " shouppe hesitated " I'm sorry "

" no . No there not gone . They're somewhere out there . Are you not gonna keep looking ?" I felt myself start to shake, my heart racing

" they took an open boat into a tropical depression , alexis "shouppe tried to let me down easy

" you drove them straight through the storm man!" Jj shouted

I felt my body go numb, my breathing getting restricted as I dropped on my knees to the floor and cried I couldn't hear anything but my own sobbing." no. no!"All I could do was blame myself

I felt jj drop to my level and hold me as we both cried into each other

" I'm sorry " I sobbed into his chest "i'm sorry" my voice echoed against his body back at me.

my brother was gone, he was dead. my dad was dead. sarah was dead. they weren't fine.
