It is really common for the Targaryen men to have bastard children, but for Daemon Targaryen not quite. He was never told that he has a child by "accident", it was because it did not happend or because they never told him. No one knows. But one drunk night on Pentos changes the game, do not get me wrong, he loved Laena purely and he was thrilled that they will have a child.

On the day that Baela and Rhaena were born another Targaryen girl was born on Pentos. The mother was able to name her Aestra before she died, the little girl had ocean blue eyes like her mother and lock silver hair like her father. Daemon found about this through his servents, he took the girl with him to the castel on Pentos.

He talked to Laena and she said that if he wanted her to stay he must take away Aestra. And so Daemon decided that it would be better if she would be taking to King's Landing. Viserys and Alicent were the only to know about Aestra, the rest of the people were killed so that no one can know about the fallen daughter of House Targaryen...
