THE UNSEEN WEB
chapter two, act one.
❝ diesel is desire, you were playin' with fire ❞。☆★━━━━━━★☆。
HAN JI-AH MOVED THROUGH THE SCHOOL HALLWAYS WITH AN AIR OF INDIFFERENCE. Her eyes focused on the floor as she navigated the sea of students. She seemed to be impervious to all the noise and chatter around her, as if she was in her own little world. Unbeknownst to her, she was the subject of much attention among her peers, especially among the clique led by Jeon Jae-Joon.
Jae-Joon watched Ji-Ah from afar, his gaze lingering on her as she passed by. It was as if she captivated him, as if she was a flower in a field and he was an admirer from afar, awed by her beauty and unable to break away. He couldn't deny the attraction he felt towards her, but it was more than just physical. There was something about Ji-Ah that drew him in, something he couldn't quite put into words.
For Ji-Ah, her interactions with Jae-Joon were a breath of fresh air amidst the suffocating expectations of her family. She found herself drawn to his vulnerability, to the parts of him he kept hidden from the world. Their conversations on the school building's edge had become a routine, a moment of respite from her demanding life.
Little did she realize there was a sinister side to his charming facade.
Ji-Ah captivated Jae-Joon in a way he couldn't understand. Her compassion and empathy were unfamiliar to him, a striking difference from his usual shallow encounters. He opened up to her, sharing parts of himself he had never shared with anyone else.
As Ji-Ah and Jae-Joon's friendship blossomed, so did their feelings for each other. They spent hours talking, sharing their dreams and fears, finding solace in each other's company. Jae-Joon's affection for Ji-Ah grew deeper with each passing day, but so did his possessiveness. The relationship between Ji-Ah and Jae-Joon was like a garden, with their roots intertwined... and intertwined until they became inseparable. Jae-Joon's possessiveness was like a protective barrier, ensuring that Ji-Ah was always safe inside.
Meanwhile, Park Yeon-Jin watched their budding relationship with envy. She couldn't stand the thought of Ji-Ah getting close to Jae-Joon, someone she considered her territory. Yeon-Jin had always been used to getting what she wanted, and she saw Ji-Ah as a threat to her status quo. Her jealousy over Ji-Ah's seemingly effortless charm and Jae-Joon's attention towards her grew with each passing day.
Jae-Joon, leaning casually against a row of lockers, watched her intently as she passed by. He glanced at his friends, a knowing smirk playing on his lips. "There she goes..." he remarked, his voice low but filled with an underlying tone of admiration. "She's something else, isn't she?" Jae-Joon remarked, his eyes lingering on Ji-Ah's retreating figure.
Yeon-Jin, standing beside him, rolled her eyes. "She's always so aloof," she commented, her voice dripping with disdain. "I don't get what you see in her. She thinks she's so special just because of her family's wealth."
Jae-Joon's eyes flickered with annoyance at Yeon-Jin's words, but he remained silent, knowing that any defence of Ji-Ah would only provoke further ire from Yeon-Jin.
"I don't trust her," Hye-Jeong nodded in agreement. "She's too friendly with Jae-Joon. I think she's up to something."
Sa-Ra shrugged nonchalantly. "Who knows? She's just another rich kid trying to fit in."
Myeong-oh, ever persistent, couldn't resist adding, "I wouldn't mind getting to know her better, if you know what I mean."
Jae-Joon's subtle possessiveness flared at Myeong-Oh's words, his jaw clenching slightly as he fought to conceal his irritation. He didn't like the idea of anyone else showing interest in Ji-Ah, especially not Myeong-oh.
As the conversation faded into the background and the hallway emptied of students, Jae-Joon's gaze remained fixated on Ji-Ah's retreating figure. His eyes followed her with a mix of admiration and longing, a silent acknowledgment of the growing affection he held for her.
At that moment, amidst the noise and chaos of the school hallway, there was only Ji-Ah, her presence casting a spell over him he couldn't shake. And as she disappeared from view, her image burned into his mind, a constant reminder of the tangled emotions that threatened to consume him.
