𓅓𓅓𓅓𓅓

THE MORNING SUN SHONE BRIGHT as the newly turned 11 year old sat up on her bed the sunlight from her open windows streamed down hitting her face making her open her eyes, giving her chocolate brown eyes a certain ethereal glow.

She walked to her sink in her washroom and splashed some water on her face to get rid of her tiredness from the lack of sleep she has everyday. Kali never got sleep. Even from a young age she has endured countless nightmares that plagues her mind. Sometimes it was about a young boy with hazel green eyes and a girl with long silky black hair with stormy grey eyes, and sometimes it was about a flashing green light. But she never really understood them. She promised herself that all that she saw at the time of night, which seize her mind at the dead of night, the time when the monsters lurk in the dark, was all just her mind playing with her brain like a helpless puppet on strings, making it dance the wonderful art of ephialtes.

As she looked up from from the sink, water dripping down her delicate face she saw her eyes flash a dangerous gold colour, causing her to gasp softly. She detached her hands from the sink and softly brought her right hand up to touch her cheek as she looked closely, only to see her brown eyes staring back at her reminding her painfully of the same warm brown eyes, which once belonged to her deceased mother.

"KALI DOWNSTAIRS. NOW." The cold voice of her father shouted from downstairs as she begrudgingly walked down the elegant spiral staircase of the Alarie mansion, fully dressed in black plated knee length skirt and a white button up shirt, which had the first 2 buttons unbuttoned, her legs adorned with socks that went up to her knee and her wand which was used to secured her waist length dark brown, almost black hair in a bun on the top her head, some stray strands of hair framing her almond shaped face.

"Ah you're already ready? that's a first " Her father said, the last part which he muttered under his breath .

"The only reason I'm up this early is simply because I want to get out of this place, and far away from your presence as fast as possible dear father." She replied gritting her teeth together in utter annoyance of the man sitting in front of her, his posture radiating arrogance and a certain distaste for his daughter.

He stood up from his seat at the head of the table and walked at fast pace till he was right in front of her, gripping her forearm in a tight hold, bruising her arm ever so lightly, which was covered by the sleeves of her crisp white shirt as he brought his face opposite to her, looking at her with a flicker of malice in his eyes.

"How many times do I have to tell you dear daughter that you can never speak to me like that? Was yesterday's gift not enough for you?" He asked, his voice dangerously low coated with a smug tone as she tried to get out of his grip.

She finally got her forearm out of his hold as she moved away from him taking her trunk in her hands as she waited on him to finish his tea.

It's not like she doesn't know how to defend herself or give him some snarky remarks back but she merely just doesn't want bruises anywhere visible on her body on the first day of school.

Her first day of school.

Her escape from this disgusting life. And maybe, a chance to create a brand new beginning.

As her father finished his tea he came next to her holding out his arm, which she held reluctantly as he apparated both of them to Kings Cross station.

She felt her insides squeezing in a weird way as she opened her eyes to see busy crowds of people, most of them muggles, move around frantically like a flock of chickens.

She left her father's hold as he stepped in front of her leading the way to platform 9 3/4, her stomach buzzing with excitement and her thoughts spinning with joy.

As they neared a brick wall, her father clasped his rough hands around her bruised forearm and tugged her towards the wall, making her hiss and nearly let go of her trolly, as she go stepped onto the platform.

"If you get sorted into anything other than Slytherin, you will be facing dire consequences." Her father hissed directly in her ear as he let go of her arm, shooting her a glare.

She shot the glare right back at him as she rolled her trolley to the man who stood next to it collecting trolleys from people.

She handed over the trolley to him with a polite smile as he smiled back and wished her a happy journey.

She stepped onto the train with her trunk, which was charmed by her to hold more than a trunk of that size can handle, using the spells which she learnt from her mother's old spell book.

She found a decent compartment placing her luggage above her head on the space given. She sat down in the window seat as she gazed outside to see families bidding their children tearful goodbyes, holding onto them, never wanting to let go.

She never knew how that felt, and she was sure that she would never know the feeling of being wanted by someone else. The warmth of an embrace nor the secure feel of a touch.

Only Slytherin eh? So god please sort me into anything but Slytherin. I just want to wipe that smirk of his stup-

"Hello, I am uh- Remus Lupin can I sit here along with erm- my friend here Peter Pettigrew?" Asked a rather tall boy, scars littered along his face. He held a warm smile and looked as if he was shy at first glance. But Kali knew better. She knew behind the shy face was a mischievous troublemaker.

The boy next to him didn't speak but he was shorter than her and rather a little stout. But from the way he carried himself she knew that he was a very shy boy. The way his hands were fidgeting or the way his legs shuffled around she knew that he was quite the helpless lad.

"Yeah of course take a seat, I don't mind." She replied earning a relieved smile from both of them.

As they were about to start a conversation the doors of the compartment burst open to reveal a boy with round gold rimmed spectacles, his brown curly hair a mess and a boy with shaggy black shoulder length luscious hair along with stormy grey eyes bot of them looking equally winded and out of breath.

"The look on his face was worth it. Did you see his snobby nose go up when his ferret blonde hair was turned puke green?-"

"I know right? he looked absolutely horrendous. Looked more like a green toad than a ferret at that time mate." Both of them spoke as they took as seat next to each other emmensed in a conversation, not realising the other three kids sitting in front of them, staring at them for an explanation.

A loud noise of throat clearing brought them back to their surroundings as the two stared right back at the other three without blinking.

"I'm Kali Alarie but please call me Kal, I can't help but ask did you prank someone by any means?" She asked with a glittering smile on her face.

"Y-yeah we did, I-i'm Sirius Black and t-this is uhm- James Potter." The boy with black hair- Sirius said dazed with a goofy smile on his face as he looked at her feeling something when her eyes brighten up even more due to his confirmation.

"Well these lads here are Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew, more on the shy side both of them. But would you lads like three more accomplices for the havoc of pranks you are going to wreck in Hogwarts?" She asked with a smirk on her face as he looked at James who shook his head eagerly already liking the bold girl.

"Yes of course milady, welcome to the club." He spoke in a posh accent giving her a mocking bow while still looking into her eyes, feeling a certain type of joy he had never felt before when she let out a melodious laugh.

All five of them laughed as they sat in that compartment, creating a bond that no one was quite ready for.

Not knowing what the future held for them.
