The Unforgivable Curses. Imperius curse. Cruciatus curse. And of course,  the Killing curse. But which? Which would I use?

   He's making me choose, the Dark Lord. I have to cast one. And I'll only cast it once. I can't bring myself to pick one. How will I be able to cast it if I can't make this decision? He's going to make me cast it onto...

   "James!" Sirius yelled. "Where the bloody hell have you been?"

   "With Lily and Marlene, they invited me to prep for N.E.W.T.s with them." James replied. The marauders, as well as Melora, and friends, are finishing up their seventh year attending Hogwarts.

   "Make haste fine gent and changeth thy clothes." Sirius said in his most elegant of tones. "There's an assembly today, a new transfer student."

   "This late in the year? We've got three months left." James asked as he changed into his Gryffindor robes.

   They walked into the Great Hall and James could see a girl dressed in Slytherin robes. He didn't recognize her. "Is that the new student?" James asked Sirius.

   "How would I know?" Sirius took a seat next to Remus. "You know Regulus and I don't talk much."

  "Good afternoon young wizards. Today we have a special announcement, we have a new student." Dumbledore yelled out, cutting off Sirius and James' conversation. The Great Hall erupted in applause. "This is Melora Simmons, she is a Slytherin transfer from Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Thank you for choosing us Ms. Simmons."

   "Thank you for having me Headmaster." said Melora. "I look forward to finishing my last year here."

   "She's pretty." Peter blurted out to his friends. He looked around hoping no one heard him. Sirius and Remus laughed. "Someone fancies the new girl already." Remus teased. Peter blushed and rolled his eyes.

   "She really is spectacular looking." James said. The marauders all looked at him with a blank stare and did not say a word. "What's with the awkward silence and questionable facial expressions?" James asked after a minute.

  "I'm sorry did mister "Lily Evan's love me" just admit someone else is attractive?" Sirius exclaimed.

  "I did not see that coming today, did you?" Peter asked Remus.

   "Wormtail, this is the last thing I expected today." He replied.

   Dumbledore walked around with Melora, getting her situated and helping her find a seat for lunch. They stopped behind James as he said "Just because I liked Lily doesn't mean I can't like someone new."

   Dumbledore cleared his throat, causing James and Peter so slowly turn around to face him. "Oh I didn't mean you, not that you're not beautiful or..." James rambled as Melora blushes and avoided eye contact with him.

   Once James had looked away and Dumbledore found her a seat, Melora's blush and cheerful expression faded. How am I going to work up the courage to do what must be done? Melora thought.
