(27) Oh, God! You're Real

Gabriel's POV:

I was lying in the bed, attempting to sleep but her face kept appearing behind my closed eyes.

I couldn't stop thinking about her. I was going crazy with stress, worrying endlessly about her whereabouts.

Every night, she occurred in my dreams, kissing me, calling my name, and snuggling to me. Sometimes, I would feel her presence beside me on my bed.

I didn't know that falling in love would make me go crazy.

My heart begs me every night to find her so it could rest. It needed her to survive, to breathe, to work and to keep me sane.

I knew I needed a drink to stop myself from going insane with distress.

Getting up from the bed, I went downstairs to the kitchen while everyone in the house was asleep. I opened the refrigerator and pulled out the beer. With the help of the opener, I opened the bottle and took a sip.

Drinking had become my addiction, it helped in suppressing the urge to leave the house in the middle of the night to look for her.

I went to the living room and sat down on the couch, staring out of the window and waiting for the sunrise—like I usually do.

I heard the sound of footsteps and then the lights of the living room were switched on. I groaned shutting my eyes, I didn't know when I began to hate lights. The lights were switched off again and someone sat beside me.

"Why are you still awake, Gabriel?" Nick asked in a tired voice.

"Same old. I couldn't sleep," I told him taking another gulp of chilled savory beer.

"You're drinking again," he said with disappointment.

"It helps, Nick. I get a few hours of numbness which is better than tossing and turning in bed all night in anticipation," I told him.

"I don't understand why sleeping pills are not affecting you. You hardly get two hours sleep in a day and rest of the time you drink or work with police to find her," he said.

"I see her whenever I close my eyes. It's her entire fault, she doesn't let me sleep, Nick," I told him.

"You love her, don't you?" he asked me.

"You have any doubt that I don't?" I questioned him.

"No, absolutely not,"He said with the shake of his head. "However, you haven't confessed it yet, but everyone knows that you are in love with this girl."

"It might seem strange to you and everyone that I have fallen in love with a girl in such a short time, but when you will meet her, you would realize why I have fallen in love with her. She is like a dream," I told him.

"We are going to meet her soon," Nick said slapping my back.

I ran my hands through my hair.

"I hope he isn't lying. I hope it is not a trap. Because if he is lying to me then I will murder him with my bare hands," I muttered rubbing my head.

"Would you really kill him if he is lying to you?" Nick asked me.

I looked at him straight into his eyes.

"If he is lying to me that she is unharmed and I wouldn't find her at the address that he has given me then yes, I will find him and murder him," I told Nick.

"When I hear you speak, I feel like I am looking at our grandfather. He used to tell us that he would do anything for us with the same look you have in your eyes," he told me in astonishment.

"I tried to remember something about him but unfortunately I can't remember anything. It's like a blank void in my brain that won't let me recall anything," I told with a sigh.

He gave me a sympathetic look.

"Why are you up at three in the morning?"

"My shift in ER starts at four," he told me.

I knew he was lying to me. He was worried and came to check on me.

"You were worried about me, weren't you?" I asked him.

"No, not at all. You're not a kid," he said with the frown.

I patted his back and said, "It's fine. You can just tell me that you came here to check."

"As a doctor, it's natural to feel concerned about patient. And you're my patient," he defended himself.

"Yeah, check on me every night and claiming that you woke at the same telling me it's a coincidence," I told him, giving him an amused look.

"I don't check on you, we just coincidentally wake up at the same time," he argued.

"Yes and I am unicorn," I said in a mocking tone.

He punched me on the stomach and I groaned.

"Okay, I was worried about you. Every night, I deliberately wake up at the same as you to give you company, so you wouldn't drown yourself in depression," he told me.

His confession made me realize how glad I was to have him as my brother. I couldn't mend my relationship with my parents but my brothers became my family and my best friends.

"Someone loves babysitting his lil brother," I teased him. He turned and hit me again on the shoulder.

"I don't love you, you annoying bastard," he said shoving me back on the couch and punching me on the stomach. I couldn't stop myself from laughing aloud.

He hated expressing emotions but among everyone in the house, he was the most sensitive person.

"Okay, doctor Nick. Your punches are making me laugh out loud and that's hurting my stomach," I told him, sitting up.

"I need to get ready and leave for the hospital," Nick said and got up from the couch.

I got up and stopped him. "Nick."

He glanced at me with a frown. "Yeah?"

I hugged him and patted his back then pulled away quickly.

"I really appreciate your concern. I'm glad that you, Matt, and Harry are my brothers," I told him.

He patted my shoulder with a small laugh.

"We're glad too that you're our brother. You lost your memory and forgot everything but we didn't. It was pretty difficult for us to cope with the separation. Harry didn't know you but for Matt and me, it was a difficult thing to understand why you were leaving us," he told me.

I didn't know what to say because he was right I forgot everything but they remembered every detail.

"I'm sorry for coming back and bringing problems into everyone's peaceful life. If only I knew this would happen I hadn't made a mistake of coming back here," I told him.

"We're family, Gabriel. We all are into this and we all are going to fight with you," he said.

I gave him an appreciative smile.

"Why don't you take some rest? You need all the strength for tomorrow's mission," he told me.

I nodded my head knowing that he was right.

"See you in the morning then," I told him making my way to my room.

                                          ****

I tucked the gun behind my back in the waistband of my jeans. I was ready to march into that bastard's mansion and rescue my love.

I heard the footsteps and turned around to see Chief of the police force.

"Gabriel, you need to hear me carefully. Your dad doesn't want you to go with us. You will wait here for us to come back with her," he told me.

"Why don't you understand? It's import for me to go there with your team. She trust me it would be easy for me to get her out of that place," I told him.

One of the team members agreed with me.

"I'll talk to my dad. I trust your team to protect me and her. We already know how many people are inside, where to aim and who to aim," I told him.

"Put this in your ear and follow the force. Make sure you do everything according to the plan," Chief told me, handing me a microphone.

"Got it," I said leaving the room and the team followed behind me.

Half of the force went to the main gate and instantly we heard the gunshots being fired. The other half of the team went to the back entrance while I took advantage of everyone's distraction and jumped inside the mansion.

I crossed the garden and climbed the pipe of her bedroom then knocked at the glass window. A few minutes later, she appeared at the window and stared at me in a confusion.

She tried to open the window but she couldn't so I pulled out the gun and broke the glass. Then I jumped inside the room.

Her eyes were wide open in surprise like she couldn't believe I was standing in front of her. With the trembling hands, she touched my face.

"Ga...Gabriel, are you real?" She asked me with unshed tears.

My heart dropped at the sight of her hollow cheeks and delicate figure. Her eyes had dark circles under them which was a clear indication that she hadn't been sleeping properly.

"I'm here to take you with me, love," I said, cupping her face.

"Can you kiss me?" She asked me, staring at me with her watery eyes.

I didn't know how to say no when the girl that I was dying to kiss was asking me to kiss her.

It didn't take me a second to place my lips on her and kiss her passionately, pouring my love. I had missed her so much. Her lips felt like my oxygen, every fiber in my body rejuvenated. Her small hands clutched the front of my shirt pulling me closer. She kissed me back feverishly, her actions were clumsy and desperate. It felt like she was kissing me the final time and wanted to feel as much love as she could at that moment. Tears were streaming down from her eyes, I wiped them off with my thumb and her lips trembled.

Unfortunately, I had to pull away from her and restrain myself from keep kissing her.

"Oh, God! You're real," she whispered.

I pulled her in my arms and kissed her head. She wrapped her arms around me and cried on my chest.

A few minutes later, I glanced down to find her gazing at me with teary eyes.

"I can't believe you are actually here," she whimpered.

"I missed you," I told her, placing a kiss on her forehead.

She hugged me tightly.

"We have to go, Bella," I told her.

She pulled away from me and wiped her tears off.

"I want you to stay close to me," I instructed her.

"We need to climb that pipe. Will you be able to do that?" He asked me.

She glanced down and nodded her head.

"Okay, you go first," I told her.

She climbed down and I followed her.

As soon as her feet touched the ground, she took hold of my hand.

"You need to climb the wall to get out of there. There more men at the back and entrance than we anticipated," the chief told in the earpiece that was inserted in my ear—I completely forgot about it until he spoke.

I looked at the wall that I climbed and entered the mansion.

"We need to ascend that wall to get out of this place," I told her, grabbing her hand and leading her towards the boundary.

Suddenly two men appeared in front of us from behind the trees.

"Where do you think you're going?" One of the guards said with the gun pointed on us.

"You already know the police are here. Let us leave and surrender yourself," I told them, pulling out the gun and pointing it on them.

"We're coming, Gabriel. Keep them distracted by talking to them," the Chief officer told.

"We are not stupid. Give us the girl and move back!" The man shouted at me.

He was coming closer and Bella was looking at me scared. I knew I had no choice but to shoot him. I pressed the tiger and one of the men fell down, clutching his leg in pain and cursing.

Suddenly more gunshots were fired, distracting both men.

"We don't have much time. Come towards the main gate now!" the chief instructed me.

"Okay," I told him.

I grabbed her hand and ran towards the main gate. There was chaos with the police force pointing guns on everyone while the men were pointing their revolvers on the police. We were in the middle of the battlefield, waiting to get killed.

"What is wrong with you? We can't just walk to you without getting shot!" I yelled at the police chief.

"Trust me, you can. Just make your way to us," the police told me.

"Who are you talking to?" Bella asked me looking nervous.

"With the crazy police officer. Look we need to walk towards the main gate," I told her.

She looked around and I knew she was watching the men's holding weapons at every corner.

"They are going to kill us," she whispered.

"No, they are not. If they will do it then the things wouldn't be in their favor," I told her.

She glanced at Nate who was pointing a gun at us. He put his gun in his pocket, showing her that he had surrendered.

"Put your guns down and surrender yourself to the police!" The Chief warned over a loudspeaker.

I wasn't expecting it to happen but I watched Nate whispering something into Tristan's ear then he ordered all the men to put their guns down.

Suddenly a gunshot was heard from behind us and all hell broke loose. I turned to find the man that stopped us from climbing the wall standing with a gun.

"You killed my brother!" He yelled then pressed the tiger.

A gunshot pierced through thin air and scream was heard. I looked at Bella in shock and agony. She stared at me with tearful eyes.

It was like a slow-motion film, everything slowed down.

Before I could move another gunshot was fired by him and I fell down on my knees.
