After Four month's ......

"Well, well, well! Why do you call me so early in the morning, Miss Atulya?" Vidharth questioned, leaning back in her home office chair.

"Didn't you still have doubts that I told something to Ava?"

Atulya gritted her teeth and closed her eyes in frustration.

"I didn't trust you, Vidharth - not now, not then, nor will I ever. But I called you here because something big is about to happen. Something that could completely shatter many things."

Vidharth interlaced his fingers together and placed his hands on the glass table. "What do you mean?"

Atulya smirked. "When you met the Yorks, didn't you think how unusually thoughtful they were about Ava? And didn't it strike you as odd that, despite their concern, no one ever stopped Jeremy from doing as he pleased? Do you know why?" She spat out the words in a single, venomous breath.

Vidharth's eyes locked onto hers, his gaze burning with intensity. He knew all too well that Atulya possessed secrets he didn't know.

"Because they're nothing but opportunistic beggars," Atulya sneered, "begging to be kings. They feared Jeremy, with his treacherous nature and unparalleled power. In his generation, only your mother could match him, not even Serenity. Now that he's gone, they're circling like predators, eager to devour the wealth Jarek inherited. They're well aware of the complicated relationship between Shubhra and Jarek, and now they're determined to destroy it, by any means necessary. All this sweetness is just a ruse, a precursor to the real struggle: the struggle for power."

Vidharth slumped in the chair, his eyes narrowing in suspicion. "Okay, but why are you telling me all this?"

Atulya's gaze remained steady, her voice measured. "Didn't you want the York family business too? It's your mother's legacy, after all. She was the rightful heir to all that. Now, it's your chance to fight for it and win it. When everyone is busy with their own power struggle, we could use this opportunity."

Vidharth gritted his teeth, but remained silent. This woman was currently in power, and she knew exactly what he wanted.

"So, what do you want from me now?" Vidharth asked, his tone cautious.

Atulya's eyes seemed to bore into his soul. "I want to know about the Basu family."

She paused, her gaze intensifying. "I want information about Avinash Basu's sons."

Vidharth's gaze narrowed, his eyes burning with intensity as his mind began to whirl with possibilities. "His sons? Which one?"

In the eyes of the world, he was just a simple perfume entrepreneur, but only a select few knew about the depth of his intelligence agency. They had access to all kinds of information, no matter how obscure or well-hidden. Vidharth's reputation was built on his ability to uncover secrets, to dig up the truth no matter how deeply it was buried. His eyes seemed to bore into Atulya's soul, as if daring her to withhold anything.

"Both!" she spat, her eyes flashing with a fierce intensity that made Vidharth's gut twist with unease.

Vidharth's eyes locked onto hers "And can I know why?"

Atulya's expression was unyielding, her face a mask of stone. "No, you can't," she replied, her voice dripping with disdain.

She paused, then said "And remember, I want accurate information, not some fabricated nonsense to confuse me. I'm well aware of things even you don't know," she warned, her eyes glinting with a sinister light.

Vidharth's eyes blazed with anger, but he bit back his retort. "Fine," he snarled, his voice trembling with suppressed rage.

Atulya's voice dropped to a whisper, her words dripping with malice. "And one more thing... Nothing." She paused, letting the word hang in the air like a challenge.

The silence that followed was oppressive, the air thick with tension. Vidharth's eyes never left Atulya's face as he stood up and walked away.

Vidharth's mind was racing with questions. Why was Atulya so interested in the Basu family? What secrets was she trying to uncover?

Determined to get to the bottom of it,
Vidharth decided to do some digging of his own.

He packed his bags and set off for the city, a 500km journey from Udaipur. The long drive would give him ample time to think, to piece together the puzzle that Atulya had presented him.

Here is the revised text with minor enhancements:

A few kilometers shy of his destination, disaster struck. Vidharth's car sputtered and died, leaving him stranded on a deserted highway.

The vast expanse of empty asphalt stretched out before him. To make matters worse, it seemed he was alone, with no other vehicles in sight. The silence was oppressive.

Vidharth's eyes scanned the horizon, searching for any sign of life, but there was nothing. He was truly alone.

"Great, just great," Vidharth muttered to himself, slamming his hand on the steering wheel. "Of all the places to break down, it had to be here. In the middle of nowhere."

He got out of the car and kicked the tire in frustration. "Why today? Why now?"

He looked around, taking in the desolate landscape. "And where is everyone? Can't a person even get a tow truck around here?"

Vidharth sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "Okay, okay. No use yelling at the car. Think, Vidharth. What do you do now?"

He pulled out his phone to check for signal, but there was none. "Of course. Because that would be too easy."

Vidharth looked around again, this time searching for any sign of civilization. "I guess I'm walking."

As he started walking, he heard the sounds of tires screeching. He turned back to look, and a car was coming his way. He decided to stop and ask for a lift. As the car moved forward, he asked for a ride, only to be surprised when he realized it was Riva.

Vidharth's eyes widened in surprise as he stared at Riva, who was gazing back at him with a mixture of curiosity and amusement.

"Vidharth?" Riva asked, her voice tinged with surprise. "What are you doing here?"

Vidharth's eyes narrowed slightly as he tried to process the unexpected encounter. "My car broke down," he replied, his tone neutral. "I was just looking for a ride."

Riva's gaze flickered to the stranded car behind Vidharth, and then back to his face an unknown emotion flashed in her eyes but she quickly masked it. "Well, you're in luck," she said with a smile."I can give you a ride. Where are you headed?"

Vidharth hesitated for a moment, taken back by her sweet words. But something about Riva's warm smile put him at ease. "I'm headed to the nearby city," he replied, opening the passenger door to get in.

Riva nodded, her eyes sparkling with curiosity and something else. "What's in there?" she asked, her tone light and conversational.

Vidharth shrugged, settling into the seat. "Just some business I need to take care of."

Riva raised an eyebrow, but didn't press the issue. Instead, she put the car in gear and pulled back onto the highway. "So, what brings you out here all alone?" she asked, her voice friendly and relaxed.

Vidharth glanced over at her, his eyes narrowing slightly. What was Riva doing out here, anyway? And why was she being so friendly all of a sudden?

Riva's non-stop chatter was starting to unnerve Vidharth. She was never this talkative, especially not with him. Her constant babbling was making him feel like he was trapped in some kind of bizarre dream.

He narrowed his gaze and turned to study her, his eyes searching for any sign of what was really going on. "What is it, Riva?" he asked, his voice low and even.

Riva's eyes widened in surprise as she glanced at him. "What?" she asked, her tone innocent.

Vidharth's eyes never left hers. "You're behaving out of character today. I'm sure it's not for nothing."

Riva's expression changed, a hint of amusement dancing in her eyes. "Mr. Vidharth Bansal, are you accusing me of being friendly for some selfish motives?" she asked, her voice dripping with sarcasm as she turned to face him, her hands steady on the steering wheel.

"Isn't it, though?" Vidharth responds, his eyes locked onto hers, and for the second time, he's struck by the intensity of her round, mahogany eyes staring back at him.

"And why is that?" Riva asks, her voice laced with a hint of curiosity.

"Because whenever we meet, we always end up fighting," Vidharth claims, his tone matter-of-fact.

Riva's eyes flash with amusement. "That's true, but it's because you can't keep your mouth shut," she counters, a sly smile spreading across her face.

Vidharth's eyes narrow. "You're the one who starts it first," he accuses, his voice rising slightly.

Riva's smile grows wider. "Oh, is that so?" she says, her voice dripping with meaning.

Vidharth's jaw clenches. "Yes."

Riva's voice was laced with sarcasm. "Oh, is that so?" she asked, her eyes glinting with amusement.

Vidharth nodded, his jaw set. "Yes."

Riva's smile grew wider. "Okay, then tell me, who was the one trying to be friendly?"

Vidharth's eyes narrowed. "You."

Riva's eyebrows rose. "Who wasn't comfortable with me being friendly?"

Vidharth's expression turned guarded. "Me?"

Riva's voice dropped to a whisper. "Who had a problem with us being friendly?"

Vidharth's eyes darted away, his voice hesitant. "Me... No! I mean... it's... complicated."

Riva's smirk grew wider as she gazed into Vidharth's ebony eyes. "Look, now even you know who's wrong here!" she exclaimed, her voice dripping with triumph.

Vidharth's eyes flashed with a retort, but he paused, transfixed by Riva's big, round eyes sparkling with victory. A faint smile tugged at the corners of his lips as he shook his head.

"Okay, fine. I'm wrong. Let's continue," he said, his voice laced with a hint of amusement.

Riva's eyes widened in surprise. "You're accepting defeat?" she stared at him, her voice incredulous.

Vidharth chuckled, his smile growing wider. "Yes."

He reached out, his fingers brushing against Riva's chin as he gently turned her head back towards the road. "Focus on the driving, chilli flake," he muttered, his voice low and teasing.

Riva's eyes sparkled with amusement as she refocused on the road. "Chilli flake?" she repeated, her voice tinged with laughter.

Vidharth's smile grew wider. "Yeah, you're a little spicy, aren't you?"

Riva's cheeks flushed with a hint of pink, but she didn't respond. Instead, she concentrated on driving, her eyes fixed on the road ahead.

The drive was smooth, and Riva pulled the car up to the address Vidharth had given her. As they came to a stop, Riva's gaze drifted to the two-story building in front of them, her curiosity piqued. "What kind of work do you have here?" she asked Vidharth, her eyes sparkling with intrigue.

Vidharth's response was a sly smile, accompanied by a wink. "Sach bataunga toh tumhara dil tut jayega!" (If I tell you the truth, your heart will break!) he teased, his eyes glinting with mischief.

Riva rolled her eyes good-naturedly, a hint of amusement dancing on her lips. "I'm not in the mood for jokes," she said, crossing her arms in a playful gesture of exasperation.

Vidharth's grin faltered, and he let out a dramatic sigh. "I'm here to meet my bride," he announced, his voice laced with mock resignation.

Riva's eyes widened in surprise, and then her expression turned incredulous. "What do you mean? You're here for a marriage?" she asked, her voice tinged with shock.

She eyed Vidharth up and down, her gaze lingering on his casual attire. "You're the one they chose?!" she exclaimed, her tone dripping with amusement.

Vidharth's eyes widened, his curiosity getting the better of him. "What do you mean? Do you know them?" he asked, his voice laced with a hint of suspicion.

Riva's expression turned thoughtful, and she paused for a moment, as if collecting her thoughts. A faint idea began to form in her mind, and her eyes narrowed. "You're about to get married, and you were flirting with me?" she asked, her voice tinged with accusation.

Vidharth's face turned bright red, and he held up his hands in defense. "I wasn't flirting, I was just trying to tease you as a friend. We're at least friends, right?!" he muttered, his eyes pleading for understanding.

Before they could continue their conversation, Vidharth's phone rang, interrupting the tension between them. He glanced at the screen and answered, "Hello! Yes, Dad!"

Riva watched as Vidharth's expression changed, his demeanor becoming more formal. "Yes! I am just outside their house. I am coming!" He ended the call and turned to Riva. "So, are you coming with me?"

Riva's response was nonchalant. "Yes, this is my home." She walked alongside Vidharth as they entered the building together.

As they stepped inside, Suhas Bansal's voice boomed from the living room. "Oh, look! He's here!" He exclaimed, pointing towards his son.

Riva slipped away unnoticed, making her way to her cousin's room. She leaned against the doorframe, a mischievous glint in her eye. "Hey!" She exclaimed, announcing her presence.

Arti, Riva's cousin-in-law, looked up and smiled. "Riva!" She said, her eyes sparkling with warmth.

Riva giggled and entered the room, exchanging a playful salute with Arti. "Yes, captain!" She teased, her eyes twinkling with amusement.

Shruti, Riva's cousin, turned away from the vanity mirror, a bright smile on her face. "Oh, Riva di!" She exclaimed, rushing to envelop Riva in a tight hug.

Arti watched the reunion with a knowing smile. "You're just in time!" She stated, her eyes glinting with a hint of intrigue.

"Your sister is just ready. You guys should talk; I'll handle things downstairs," Arti declared before leaving the two sisters alone.

"Are you okay?" Riva asked.

Since her bhabhi was gone, Shruti dropped the mask of happiness from her face and slumped into the chair. "No, I'm not okay, Riva di! How can I be? It's a chance that comes only once, and I won't be able to take it!" Tears started pooling in her eyes.

"But you know Bade Papa and Badi Maa would never agree to this," Riva vocalized her thoughts. "Besides, Vidharth isn't that bad a person. I'm sure he would never stop you from chasing your dreams, and if he did, I would personally send him to his grave," Riva said with a small smile.

"I don't want to marry him," Shruti said, her voice barely above a whisper. "Not just him, I don't want to marry anyone... at least, not now." She twisted her fingers anxiously.

"I'm scared, Riva di. Really scared of getting married. Dad only thinks of others, not of Mom, and my parents would be the first to go against my wishes, even if he agreed." Shruti's eyes welled up with tears.

Riva placed a tender hand on Shruti's, offering reassurance. "So, what are you planning, Shruti?" she asked gently.

Shruti's voice was resolute. "I want to play. I want to run away from here." Her declaration was bold, but Riva could see the fear lingering behind her eyes.

Riva was taken aback, but after considering Shruti's words for a few minutes, she spoke. "Okay, I'll arrange everything for you. Since you've already decided, remember never to look back. Your di has your back." Riva's voice was firm and reassuring as she took Shruti's cheeks in her palms and wiped away her tears with her thumb.
