Smart Idea

*Long chapter!*

Klaus voice over:

They say the passage of time will heal all wounds. But, the greater the loss, the deeper the cut, and the more difficult the process to become whole again. The pain may fade, but scars serve as a reminder of our suffering, and make the bearer all the more resolved never to be wounded again. So, as time moves along, we get lost in distractions. Act out in frustration. React with aggression. Give in to anger. And, all the while, we plot and plan as we wait to grow stronger, and before we know it, the time passes. We are healed. Ready to begin anew.

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

A couple days have past and Aliza and Hayley approach Jackson and Emery as the four watch Oliver and another wolf sparring and wrestling outside. Damon and Stefan weren't with her because they were with Kol and Jeremy still trying to find Hadrian and Tyler, trying to get them back from where ever he was because Hadrian had some serious explaining to do.

"Shouldn't you be out there playing Fight Club with the rest of the frat boys?" Aliza smirks over at her cousin as her new best laughs.

"Nah. That's just for pecking order." Jackson smirks back. "They already know who's the Alpha."

"Ohh! Next up!" A werewolf shouts.

Aliza's hand shoots up only to be put down by Jackson. "You are not going in there."

"Why not?" Aliza pouts.

"Because your pregnant." Jackson and Emery say together stating the obvious.

"So? I can still beat them pregnant or not." Aliza gives them a look. Hayley watches in amusement.

"I don't doubt that." Emery laughs.

"Me either, but you're still not going up there." Jackson says protectively.

"That sucks." Aliza whines.

Jackson rolls his eyes and goes to walk making sure they were following as Emery placed a arm around the pregnant girls shoulders. They walk inside, where the rest of the Crescent wolves are setting the table for dinner.

"You gotta try Tucker's ribs." Emery tells Aliza and Hayley.

"Then, what? Then we're gonna go play horseshoes?" Hayley teases.

"That's a good one." Aliza laughs high-fiving the werewolf.

Jackson laughs. "Hey! Don't mock country living, darlin'."

"Sorry. This is just a lot more family fun than I'm used to." Hayley says seriously.

"Same." Aliza says. "At this point I only have my mates, brother, my dad, my two uncles and a little girl that has became my daughter."

"Well you have us now." Emery nudges the girl making her smile.

"And, maybe I can help you both get used to it." Jackson smiles at his cousin and supposed to be wife.

"Then all we got to do is just forget that she spent half her life with humans, and the other half with vampires." Oliver joins looking at Hayley then two Aliza. "And the same with you, raised by humans and your in a family of Originals."

"Back off, Oliver." Emery steps in front of the Mikealson girl.

"No, It's okay." Hayley starts.

"If the runt of the litter has got something to say, he should say it." Aliza steps up. "Unless he's too much of a bitch because either way I'm stronger than you."

Oliver takes a step back and talks again. "You know, word from the Quarter is your boy Elijah's holding some kind of power summit. Guess who wasn't invited?"

Hayley and Aliza share a look. Aliza looks back at the wolf. "Where did you hear this?"

"It doesn't matter." Oliver shakes his head. "The point is is that we're stuck here living in the swamp, while your vampire father, uncle and boyfriend are deciding who gets what in the city. But, I guess that shows how much respect he's got for the werewolves, huh?"

"I'm so going to kill my father and Elijah right now." Aliza mumbles.

"I'm right there with you." Hayley agrees.

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

"Father, calm yourself, please." Elijah shouts them into silence. "Thank you. Now returning to the issue of boundaries, you will all heed to the following--"

Their discussion is interrupted by Hayley and Aliza along with Emery, the three has just crashed the meeting.

"Are you fucking serious?!" Aliza shouts.

"You're dividing up the city, and the werewolves don't even get a say?" Hayley continues.

Diego angrily stands up and points at the two. "What the hell are they doing here?"

"You best put that finger down before you no longer have it, along with your heart." Aliza threatens making Diego flinch back at her tone and do what she told him.

Elijah looks at the two. "We are not dividing the city. We're establishing boundaries--."

"No, Elijah! There is not gonna be a peace if the werewolves are excluded. They want a seat at the table." Diego and Genevieve both scoff at Hayley's words.

Aliza let's her eyes glow their blazing orange and red color as she glared at the two before looking at her uncle. "And if they don't get one, I can guarantee that you will all regret it."

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

The leaders all begin to argue again, and Elijah pulls Hayley and Aliza aside to talk to them privately, Emery following stating a good distance behind.

"Do you have any idea what it took just to get those people in one room together?" Elijah looks between the two.

"No, actually, we don't! Because I didn't even know what you were doing out here until someone else told me. Tell me something, Uncle Elijah." Aliza spits out the name. "Did you leave the werewolves out because of Hayley? Because of me?"

"I excluded them because they no longer reside in the French Quarter. My immediate concern is to end the mounting conflict here. Now, I can assure you once this treaty is solidified, it will expand to include your people." Elijah tries making Emery scoff from behind them.

"And until then, we should tell them what? Sit? Stay? Roll over?" Hayley crosses her arms over her chest.

"I would prefer that you both remove yourselves from the process all together!" Hayley and Aliza glare at him, and Elijah realizes that he was rude. His demeanor becomes softer.

"Hayley, are you absolutely certain that you shouldn't return to the compound?" He looks to his niece. "And you too?"

Hayley let's out a sarcastic laugh. "You think the baby belongs there? You think that's where she'll be safe?"

"I love my father, but my babies wouldn't be safe there either. Not with the enemies that come and go in and out of the compound." Aliza states. "I am perfectly fine with my mates at my home and at the Bayou, my father will understand."

"So you're saying the Bayou is any better?" Elijah raises an eyebrow.

"The wolves deserve a voice. Give them one." Aliza snaps.

"You know it's the right thing to do." Hayley adds and with that the two girls turn and leave. Emery sends Elijah a glare before linking her arm with Aliza's, leaving Elijah to consider their argument.

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

( no purse )

It was later in the day and Elijah has thrown an impromptu party at the compound, where all the factions can come celebrate together and mingle. Genevieve enters with Davina, Abigail, and Monique in tow. Diego and the other vampires are drinking together when they see Aliza with Damon and Stefan by her side, Jackson, Hayley, Oliver, and the other werewolves entering the party.

Jeremy and Kol instantly finding places by Davina's side. Klaus and Elijah look at the party from the balcony.

"I'm impressed, brother." Elijah speaks.

"Yes." Klaus hums not taking his eyes off his daughter interacting with the wolves.

"Now if I can just keep them from tearing one another to shreds." Elijah states looking the crowd over.

"Well, then for your sake, here's to a spectacularly boring evening." Klaus smirks.

"If I don't then your daughter will get hurt along with the mother of your unborn child." Elijah says as he turns towards his brother. "If you haven't notches they have huge targets over their heads."

Klaus huffs and allows his eyes to roam over the crowd once again. He looks down smiling a bit seeing his daughter smile. His eyes catch the eyes of the curly dark brown haired girl next to his daughter. His eyes glow their amber color when his eyes meet a pair of another pair of amber colored wolf eyes.

Klaus knew what this meant...he had found his mate, but that was impossible. There was no way, he thought that Estelle was the only one, but maybe just maybe when he cut of the bond and she betrayed him and died, the angels thought they could find someone to balance him out...someone besides his daughter.

"So, which is which?" Jackson asks wrapping an arm around his cousins shoulders gesturing to the two Salvatore's that were in front of them.

"I'm Stefan."

"Damon."

The two Salvatore's say before Aliza could even open her mouth. Jackson nods. "You better be taking care of her because you I hear that you've hurt her—."

"We'd kill you." Emery cuts Jackson off as her eyes go back to normal.

"Understandable." The two Salvatore's say together. They weren't scared, they just did not want to get on a werewolves bad side...especially after finding out what their bite can do to plain ole vampires like them.

"Glad we're on the same page." Jackson smiles moving forward and shaking their hands.

"I've never seen them scared before." Hayley whispers to Aliza.

"Me either." Aliza whispers back. "And I'm pregnant and moody."

Jackson and the rest of the group including Oliver laughs at the comment it dies down when Diego and some other vampires pass by them, but more importantly, Jackson and Oliver.

"What's up, little man?" Diego purposely bumps into Jackson, which enrages Oliver.

Aliza steps in front of Oliver before he could do anything. "He's not worth it. Don't do anything stupid."

"She's right, let's just move." Jackson says as together the group moves, Aliza catching the glance Emery shout to her father.

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Klaus is on the balcony overlooking the party when Aliza joins him.

"Looking for your toy or my new befriend?" Aliza questions coming up next to him.

"I have no idea what you're talking about." Klaus turns his head to look at his daughter.

"Don't lie to me." Aliza snaps. "Not again. First it was the treaty and now it's about this."

Klaus fully turns to her. "I didn't lie to you about the treaty. I simply didn't tell you."

"And why's that?" Aliza tilts her head at him. "Too busy sleeping with that toy of yours?"

"No." Klaus glances at the crowd and back at his daughter. "You haven't been here."

"And that's stopped you from sending a simple text?" Aliza raises an eyebrow at her father.

"I didn't want to interrupt your time at the Bayou or where ever you and your mates were." Klaus says with jealousy in his tone.

Aliza chuckles. "That's it."

"What's it?" Klaus questions.

"You're jealous." Aliza states with a laugh.

"I am not." Klaus glares at her.

"You so are." Aliza points at him.

"Your my daughter, meaning you were mine first, if anything they should be jealous." Klaus scoffs.

"Dad." Aliza sighs. "I hope you know I'm not trying to replace you. I just want to get to know them. Their my family—."

"I'm your family." Klaus cuts her off.

"You are." Aliza nods. "Of course you are, your my father, but their my family also no matter which bloodline they came from. It just so happens to be mothers. I'm also the leader of the pack right next to Jackson. I have to get to know them."

Klaus sighs as he leans forward against the railing. "I know and I'm sorry. I got so use to having you to myself. I just missed my daughter over the last couple of days. I mean, can you blame me?"

"No, I can't." Aliza chuckles moving next to her father. "I missed you too, but no mater what dad, you know you can always send me a text. I would do anything for you. Like I said, your my father for god sakes."

"I didn't mean for you to find out about the treaty the way you did." Klaus sighs.

"It's okay, I know about it now." Aliza lays her head on her fathers shoulder. "Plus it gave me a chance to yell at Elijah, so that's a plus."

"Of course it is." Klaus laughs. "Yelling at Elijah is always fun."

"Yeah, now let's talk about your little toy and about the glances you and Emery have been sharing."

"Emery. That's her name?"

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

"May I have this dance?" The two Salvatore asks once Aliza gets out from using the bathroom.

"Awww, don't make me pick." Aliza whines linking her arms with theirs as they walk.

"How else would we settle this then?" Stefan asks as they walk to the dance floor.

"Yeah, we can't exactly dance with you at the same time. It's a slow song." Damon points out.

"Well we're not picking." Aliza gestures to herself and her bump. She feels two kicks. "See my babies agree."

"Our babies." The brothers correct.

"Same thing." Aliza rolls her eyes. "Now hurry and pick."

The Salvatore's sighs and look at each other before doing rock, paper, scissors. The first round, they both put paper. The same for round two. On the third round Damon puts rock and Stefan puts scissors.

"Children." Aliza rolls her eyes placing a hand on her bump.

"Yes!" Damon cheers.

"Dammit. You always beat me with that move." Stefan glares at his brother playfully.

"Stop being so predictable, brother." Damon smirks at him as he turns to Aliza. "Shall we, beautiful?"

Aliza blushes and laughs. "We shall."

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Aliza was now dancing with Stefan. It was a new song and the boys were taking turns with dancing with her. Aliza stood in Stefan's arms, her head against his chest with her arms around his waist. Stefan had his head on hers, his hands placed on the side of her bump.

"I've missed holding you like this." Stefan mutters loud enough for Aliza to hear.

Aliza chuckles. "Damon said that same thing, but I've missed being in your arms like this."

"We have a surprise for you." Stefan says making Aliza pick her head up and look at him.

"Ouuu, where is it?" Aliza asks with a big smile. "Correction, what is it?"

"We're not telling you or showing you until we find the right time." Stefan places a kiss to her forehead.

"That's boring." Aliza pouts.

Stefan goes to speak, but before he does, he gets cut off by a voice. "May I cut in?"

They both look up and see Jackson standing in front of them. Aliza smiles at him and looks to Stefan for a answer. Stefan pecks Aliza's lips before walking away, towards his brother.

"Elijah, steal your dance partner?" Aliza questions looking behind her cousin and seeing Elijah now dancing with Hayley.

"What? I can't come dance with my cousin and get to know my cousin more?" Jackson raises an eyebrow.

Aliza gives him a look and Jackson sighs. "Fine so he wanted to dance with Hayley, I still didn't lie though."

"So, what do you want to know?" Aliza asks as they sway.

"Start with why you called Elijah, Elijah. I remember you calling him Uncle Eli." Jackson says.

"Because he isn't my Uncle. He's caused me so much pain and as I constantly forgive him, he—."

"Continues to cause you pain." Jackson finishes.

"Exactly. Same with Rebekah. Her story is a little more complicated, so you want the long version or short version?"

"Long version. We have time before the song finishes." Jackson answers.

Aliza found herself venting to her cousin about her life and Jackson did the same. Jackson wasn't one to open up. Not even to
Oliver. But this was different. He had a actual family member. Of course the pack is his family, but to have an actual alive family member meant everything to him and he wasn't going to take it for granted.

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Hours passed and Aliza found herself next to Hayley walking down the stairs. They had gotten hungry and they needed more than just little finger foods. So they went to the kitchen that lied on Klaus's side of the compound knowing it would be stocked because he always didn't stock up for her just in case.

As they walk, they come to a halt seeing Elijah with Oliver pushed against a table.

"This ends now. I won't ask again." Elijah speaks sternly.

"I hate him more and more." Aliza mutters.

"Oh, we'll end it all right." Elijah looks over to find Jackson pinning Diego to the wall, a stake aimed right at his heart.

"What's stopping you? Kill him." Hayley speaks up causing the attention to shirt to both pregnant ladies. "Go ahead, Elijah. Do it. I mean, it's not like he doesn't deserve to die."

"I mean, it was Oliver who handed Rebekah over to the witches so they could torture her." Hayley says with a fake thinking face.

"But, then again, wasn't it Diego who led a werewolf massacre last month? And the witches cursed the wolves, while the humans stood back and let it all happen. So, when you think about it, everyone here deserves to die." Aliza steps down from the final steps, Hayley right next to her, both looking at Elijah with a hard look.

"Are you both approaching a point?" Elijah says with a angry tone.

"My point, Elijah, is this-- if we can't all learn to get along, if our families can't create some sort of community, then what's the point?" Hayley questions.

"If anything, just kill each other and get it all over with because right now you all look pathetic." Aliza glares at them.

After considering Aliza and Hayley's words, Elijah lets go of Oliver, and Jackson reluctantly lets go of Diego, as well. Stefan, Damon, Kol, Jeremy and Klaus stand back and watch the youngest Mikealson with a proud look.

"Truly is made to be a queen." Klaus thinks to himself.

"Smart idea." Aliza says walking over to Jackson and Oliver checking them over and making sure they were alright.

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

All change begins with a plan, the success of which depends on several things: depth of commitment, passion for one's cause...

At the compound, after everyone leaves, the leaders of the five factions: Elijah, Diego, Genevieve, Francesca, Aliza and Hayley-- representing the Originals, the vampires, the witches, the humans, and the werewolves/amazon's respectively-- have finally drafted their peace treaty.

They each cut their palms and drip their blood into an inkwell, in order to sign the document with a mixture of all their blood.

"How much you want to bet this isn't going to last long." Aliza whispers to Hayley.

Hayley shrugs. "I'll give it a month."

Aliza chuckles and links their arms as they speed out, not sparing the other leaders another glance. Aliza and Hayley have gotten along so much better ever since they met the wolves. Their bond has bloomed so much.

Now at the Bayou, Hayley, Aliza, Stefan and Damon, who most wolves were worried about until her and Jackson told them who they were to Aliza, have returned to the long banquet table where they eat dinner, where everyone has gathered around to celebrate.

"Hey!" Jackson shouts. "To Aliza and Hayley!"

"To Aliza and Hayley!" The wolves plus the two vampires shout.

Aliza looks up at Emery who was sitting across from her. Aliza reaches over and takes her hand in hers. "Me and my dad talked. I say give him a chance. You can never go wrong with giving someone a chance. Plus, he's a real big softy."

Emery breaks out into a big smile. "Thank you!"

"Of course. I don't want to get in the way of yours or his happiness, even if it's a little weird, but he deserves to be happy and so do you."

Willingness to embrace a new path. Determination to overcome any obstacle. And, in some cases, even making unnatural alliances.
