Marking Her As His

Aria

I was nervous to meet all the Alphas and their mates for the first time. I knew they were curious to know why a strong Alpha would step down from his position and hand the responsibility of leading the whole pack to his eighteen-year-old daughter.

"I heard the Alphas and their mates are intimidating," my wolf muttered with a smirk.

I knew she was not intimidated by anything and these emotions were coming from my human side.

When I entered the yard all the eyes snapped at me. I knew everyone was watching me with curiosity and judgmental eyes. I could feel their gazes burning holes in my body as I strode confidently in the direction of my parents.

My dad was wearing a grey tux, looking as remarkable as always. My mom was pressed to his side in an emerald gown, flashing her new edition of diamonds. My mother gazed at me with tearful eyes, taking me in from head to toe.

"Hey, dad," I said, giving him a side hug.

My dad pulled away and looked at my mother. "Did this beautiful lady just call me dad?"

My mother chuckled at his question and my dad turned to me.

"Ma'am, my daughter is very possessive and she doesn't like sharing her parents with anyone," my dad teased.

I shrugged and strengthened my back, standing before him with a smug smile and playing along. "This lady is Alpha Aria Woods. I am happy to see you and your mate at this dinner," I said with a smirk.

My father gave me an amused smile. "Thank you so much for inviting us, Alpha. We are delighted to be part of this huge celebration," my dad said, stretching his hand out to shake.

I shook his hand firmly and then we burst into laughter. Everyone had a smile on their faces because they heard our conversation clearly which was the courtesy of werewolf hearing senses.

I looked at my mother and sighed. "Mom, please, no tears."

She blinked back her tears and gazed at me. "You look so lovely, Aria. But why didn't you wear the red dress that I picked for you?" my mom asked, looking confused.

I frowned then my eyes landed on Fay. She was talking to Cameron, standing behind my mother in a red dress.

"Did that stupid girl just steal her Alpha's dress?" My wolf asked me with her fur raised in rage.

I took a deep breath, struggling to calm down my wolf's anger before.

"I would have never worn that dress, so settle down your snappy ass," I growled at my wolf.

My wolf calmed down as soon as she breathed in her mate's scent. Her attention drifted from Fay to her mate.

My eyes instantly searched for Jeremy. My mate was making his way to me with a bouquet of roses in his hand along with his beta.

"He looks so hot! Can we postpone your birthday celebration and do a mating ceremony instead?" My wolf claimed, wiggling her tail.

I couldn't help but laugh at her suggestion.

Jeremy's brown eyes immediately connected with mine and he swallowed with difficulty, glancing at from head to toe. His intense stare made my body quiver in a rush of pleasure. Lust, love and Eagerness were clear in his gaze, inciting my wolf to move forward and mark him right there.

He looked undeniably handsome in a fitted black tuxedo while his hair was gelled back giving him a neat look.

"Hello, Mr and Mrs Woods," Jeremy said, shaking hands with my parents.

"Hello, Alpha Jeremy. We are glad you joined us tonight," my dad replied in his strong voice.

My eyes caught my mother staring at Ryan. He was wearing a black tux like Jeremy but with a white shirt underneath. His hair was messy and his face still had light stubble—like he didn't bother to shave his face for few days. A few buttons of his white shirt was undone, giving a slight peek of the chiselled chest. He looked rugged but in a good way.

"Alpha Jeremy, may I ask who is this handsome man beside you?" My mom asked.

My dad coughed, pulling my mother closer to his side possessively. I groaned at my mother's question while Jeremy looked amused at the situation.

I watched Ryan's hand moving towards his collar, feeling uncomfortable under my mother's gaze. His Adam's apple bobbed as he glanced nervously at my mom.

"He is my beta. Ryan Wilson," Jeremy said, patting Ryan's shoulder.

"Oh, that's great," my mom said chirpily.

"Nice to meet you, Mrs Woods," Ryan said to my mom in his deep voice then he glanced at me for a millisecond and looking back at her. "This is for you."

He handed her a bouquet of lilies which I didn't notice earlier.

"Thank you, Ryan. That's so sweet of you," my mom said, swooning at Ryan's fascinating personality.

"This is for you, Alpha Aria," Jeremy said handing me a bouquet of red roses.

"Thanks," I mumbled with a wide smile discreetly checking out my mate ones again.

He grinned at me and consciously stepped closer. I breathed in his scent and it made my brain woozy with desire.

I watched a group of young she-wolves eyeing my mate and it instantly made my mood sour. My wolf was furious but those girls were from my pack and my single glare was enough to make them flee.

My wolf wanted to drag him away from all these unmated she-wolves and mate with him. She wanted to show everyone that he belongs to her and only her.

Suddenly, my mother's voice pulled me back from my fantasy world.

"Do you have a mate, Ryan?" My mom asked nonchalantly.

A stunned look appeared on Jeremy and Ryan's face, they glanced at each other anxiously.

I noticed their discomfort and decided to interrupt my mother's investigation.

"Alpha Jeremy, please help yourself with some appetizers," I said.

My dad understood the situation and exhorted Jeremy and Ryan towards the table.

"I would like to have a word with you mom," I said and grabbed her arm.

I took her at a safe distance away from dinner.

"What happened, Aria?" my mom asked me.

"Mom, why were you asking so many questions about Ryan?" I asked her in irritation.

She gave me an amused smile.

"What?" I asked her.

"You said his name flawlessly like it's coming from your soul," she said. "Did you catch his scent, Aria? Maybe he is your mate?"

My mouth opened and closed in surprise.

"Mom, if he was my mate then I would've found out before you. And he is not my mate!"

She pouted like she was genuinely upset at the truth.

"There were so many scents at dinner, you might have not noticed his scent," my mom said with a smile.

I rubbed my forehead in annoyance. I didn't want to tell her that I have found my mate and it's Jeremy, not his beta.

"Mom, have you ever couldn't smell dad's scent?" I asked her.

"I can smell him miles away," she replied.

"Ryan isn't my mate, mom. I know," I told her.

"But I liked him," she said with the unhappy look on her face.

I couldn't tell her the truth now because I knew she wouldn't be able to keep it a secret. And I didn't want her to announce to the world that Jeremy was my mate until I properly introduce him to my pack.

"I hope you will find your mate tonight. I want to see my daughter happy," my mom said.

"I'll inform you when I find him," I promised her, feeling bad for keeping the information from her.

We went back to dinner and she introduced me to other guests.

Finally, I managed to make my way to Jeremy.

"Here comes the birthday girl," Luke Carson, Alpha of Blood Moon pack said with a delighted smile on his face. His mate Leila a Burnett beauty stood beside him, chuckling at her mate's comment.

"Remember Carson you are on my territory," I said with a smile.

Jeremy and Ryan chuckled.

"So you know Luke," Jeremy said.

"Luke and Leila were the first Alpha and Luna that came to visit my pack when I took over as an Alpha. They were looking for the mate of his beta which he surprisingly found in my pack," I informed him.

They were friendly and humble, so we quickly became good friends. They taught me to enjoy my position as an Alpha instead of living constantly on edge.

Leila detangled herself from Luke's embrace and hugged me.

"Happy Birthday, Aria."

"Thank you."

I looked at Jeremy who was staring at me with a playful look on his face.

"We brought a gift for you," Luke said.

Then he stood stagnant like he was mind linking someone. His beta appeared with a huge box.

"What is this?" I asked him confused, looking at the box.

He ordered his beta to open the box and a few white meaty rabbits started jumping inside the cage.

"I think they're going to be happier in your woods. You know my territory only has snow and water," he said.

"I love them," I said mind-linking one of the pack members and asking them to free those rabbits in the woods.

"How ironic a werewolf loves animals?" My wolf chipped in, her mouthwatering at the sight of her delectable meal. She wanted to devour them right there but she always liked a good hunt. She will go for them in the woods soon.

"When did you meet Jeremy?" Luke asked.

I glanced at Jeremy to discover his eyes were changing from brown to grey. I couldn't look away from his wolf's captivating gaze in time.

Leila gasped, catching our attention.

"You guys are...,"

Before she could complete her sentence I grabbed her wrist, squeezing it gently. Luke's eyes widened in shock as his mate mind-linked him.

"That's a f**king headline," Luke said.

"And we don't want you to break this news, at least not yet," Jeremy said, clenching his hands.

I knew he was itching to grab me and press me to his chest. It was instinct for mates to stay close to each other and inhale their scents when they feel nervous.

Luke made a sign of zipping his mouth, however, he still had a startling look on his face.

"I think I need a drink," he said, clearly confused.

The server handed us drinks and we leisurely took the sips, enjoying the flavour. Alcohol didn't affect werewolves as strongly as it does humans. We could enjoy the flavour without getting drunk.

"When did you both find out?" Leila asked.

"Today," I told her, taking the sip of the golden liquid.

"Jeremy has been my ally for the last five years. We know each other pretty well," Luke informed.

Jeremy laughed. "Leila knows me pretty well too."

Then he winked at Leila and she blushed.

"Jeremy, stop taunting my husband or I'll have to pinch your ears," Leila warned, slapping my mate's arm.

My mate grabbed her hand and kissed the back of it with a grin on his face. "I asked you to marry me before him and you said yes."

I stifled my growl but the bitterness was spreading from my heart to my body. I didn't know why I felt jealous of the mated she-wolf but for some reason I did.

"You were ten and I was seventeen," she reminded him, pinching his arm.

Ryan glanced at me then snatched Leila's hand.

"Alpha Luke, would you mind if I steal your Luna for a while? I think she owes me a dance," Ryan said.

Luke didn't even look slightest bothered by watching his mate's hand in Ryan.

My possessiveness towards my mate made me concerned about my wolf.

"What if something is wrong with Lynn?" I asked myself.

"Did you just call me crazy for feeling possessive of my mate?" my wolf asked in a dramatically surprised tone.

"You have any doubt?" I asked her with the smirk playing on my lips.

Leila's voice distracted me from the conversation with my wolf.

"I don't owe you anything, Ryan Wilson," she jabbed her finger on Ryan's chest. "However, I remember you owe me a visit."

"We can discuss that later, Leila," Ryan said and dragged her with him.

Luke looked at Jeremy and said, "Your beta has stolen my mate so it would be right if I steal Alpha Aria."

Jeremy glared at Luke in a warning.

"Can I have a dance with you?" Luke said, offering me his hand.

I looked at Jeremy, waiting for him to interrupt and ask me for a dance instead, but he just shook his head with a grin.

I didn't understand how he had such a powerful grip over his emotions when I couldn't even tolerate any she-wolf near him.

"Sure," I said, grabbing Luke's hand.

Luke led me towards the dance ground and we started to sway on the music.

"Leila is Ryan's cousin. She used to babysit Jeremy with Ryan when they were growing up. The three of them are pretty close, you will get used to their bickering after some time," he told me.

I looked at him in surprise. "I didn't know, I just..."

"As an Alpha, your possessiveness, your anger, your love, and your hatred is ten thousand times stronger than an average wolf. But when an Alpha finds his or her mate then it multiplies with a hundred, so I understand what you are feeling Aria."

I nodded, knowing that he was correct.

"I have just started feeling them. I don't know how to take control of these emotions?" I told him.

He chuckled and leaned towards my ear.

"Mating is the only option," he whispered.

I swallowed with difficulty, knowing that resisting marking and mating when you find your mate had consequences.

Luke stepped away from me with a smile. "I guess I should rescue my mate before she kills her cousin. Ryan is a terrible dancer."

I turned to find Leila, scolding Ryan. "How many times do I have to tell you that you need to relax your body?"

"I am relaxed," Ryan replied with a boring look on his face and standing stiffly.

She pinched him on the arm and he didn't even flinch. "Relieve some tension from your muscles, they are as stiff as stone."

Luke grabbed her hand and said, "Can I have a dance with the most beautiful woman on this earth?"

She nodded with a smile and Ryan sighed. He stared at them with longing eyes then slowly walked back leaving the yard.

I didn't understand what happened to him.

"I hope you are looking for me," Jeremy whispered in my ear from behind.

"Of course not," I said, turning around to face him.

He grinned, gazing at my scowling face.

To my surprise, he grabbed my hand and placed it on his shoulder. He grabbed my waist and started to swaying on the music like an expert. I knew most of the guests were busy enjoying the evening, but I was still cautious about our closeness.

"You look breathtaking," he whispered in a deep husky voice. "I was thinking what did I do to deserve someone so beautiful as a mate."

I looked into his grey eyes, knowing that his wolf had come forward.

"Happy Birthday, mate, " he whispered inaudibly, leaning closer to my face.

I didn't know what was happening around me anymore, I could only concentrate on my mate's delectable lips.

Suddenly we heard a loud cough and jumped apart.

Fay was standing there choking on a glass of champagne. Her mate was rubbing her back in concern while she was staring at me with wide eyes.

"Is he your mate?" Fay hesitantly asked me through the mind link.

I nodded and she screamed in excitement, catching the attention of several people.

"He is perfect," she said excitedly looking at Jeremy.

"You're testing my patience, Fay," Cameron muttered, grabbing her waist.

"Be quiet," she said to her mate.

"I am Alpha Jeremy Miss...," Jeremy said.

Fay's mouth opened and closed in surprise. Cameron calmed down the second he heard Jeremy's title.

"Sorry, Alpha," he muttered.

Jeremy ignored Cameron's apology and looked at Fay.

"I am Fay River," she said, feeling nervous.

"He is an Alpha!" she yelled in mind link.

I flinched at her loud voice.

"Keep your mouth shut until dinner is over," I ordered her.

"It was nice to meet you, Alpha Jeremy. Please excuse us," Fay said with respect and dragged Cameron away.

"Fay is my best friend and sister of my beta," I told Jeremy.

"She doesn't look like Kaden's sister," he said.

"Why?" I asked him.

"He's the living example of principle and she looks like a rule-breaker," Jeremy muttered.

"Great observation, Alpha Jeremy," I said with a teasing smile.

"Oh, so we are back to square one," Jeremy muttered.

My mother came and ushered me towards the table while I send Jeremy an apologetic smile.

"You need to cut the cake," she said.

"Mom, I told you that I am not going to cut a cake. Just serve it with dinner," I replied through a mind link. "Do you think I am five years old?"

She blinked her eyes and I knew her blackmailing tears were going to make an appearance again.

I didn't realize how quickly my mother forced the knife in my hand and made me slice the cake. The only thing that I could hear was loud claps and people wishing me a happy birthday.

Then my father took me with him to introduce me to all the Alphas and their mates in person.

Instinctively, my eyes kept moving back to Jeremy who was standing with the charming smile on his face and staring at me from afar.

Suddenly, I felt severe pressure on my head. I instantly knew something was wrong. I opened my mind link and heard my gamma's voice.

"We are under attack!" Caleb's voice rang in my head.

"Excuse me, ladies. I hope you enjoy the rest of the dinner."

I excused myself and made my way out of the dinner discreetly. Kaden followed behind me hurriedly.

"Did you get the news?"

"Of course, I did." I snapped. "How many people know about the attack?"

"All the males of our pack and the patrolling groups," he informed.

"I need all the males to surround the pack house. Do not let a single rogue reach to our guests!"

Kaden stared at me in shock.

"You want us to keep the dinner going?" He asked in shock.

"Yes, I can't afford to be belittled in front of all these Alphas and appear weak, at least not tonight," I told him.

"That's insane!" Kaden said.

"No, it's not."

I took a deep breath and mind-linked Caleb.

"How many rogues are there?"

"Ten! We have managed to find three and took them down," he informed.

"Kaden, collect the team and stay here. Guard these guests with your life," I told him.

He looked at me in concern.

"I'm not staying here. Your dad will slash my throat if something happened to you. And it's my responsibility to protect you," he argued.

"It's my responsibility to protect all these people and you are my beta, Kaden. Stay here and that's an Alpha order," I said.

"Yes, Alpha," he said unable to argue under the command of Alpha.

I shifted in my mahogany wolf and sprinted towards the borders. My wolf was on high alert, picking every scent that came across our way.

My wolf halted when she smelled a rogue. She accessed her surroundings waiting for an attack.

She growled in a warning and heard the rustles of branches from nearby. She walked closer and a wolf jumped out, attacking her. He went straight for her neck, she pushed him with her paws and it fell on his back, howling in pain. She didn't waste any second in leaping over him and puncturing her sharp canines into his neck, sucking his life out. She bounded towards the perimeters with her mouth drenched in blood.

"Caleb, how many are left?"

"We have found and took down two more, four are still out there, Alpha," he said through a mind link.

"One is down. There are three left," I told him.

When I was near the borders I was attacked from behind by a rogue. The brown ratty-looking wolf grinned at me with his mouth soaked in blood. I knew he had injured one of my pack members and he was proud of his work.

He circled my wolf with a pleased look on his face. He knew he had caught me alone and he would easily defeat me as I was a she-wolf.

My wolf smirked, knowing that the rogue in front of her wouldn't be getting a simple death by a puncture on his neck. She was planning a sinfully painful death for him, imagining breaking his every single bone, and ripping his throat apart.

She launched at him and pressed him on the ground on his back then sunk her teeth on his arm, yanking his skin apart. He growled in anguish which immediately caught the attention of my warriors.

"Alpha, where are you?" one of the warriors asked me.

"Near the northwest," I replied.

My wolf gave rogue time to regain his strength and attack her again. She was toying with her prey and she loved this game.

He launched at her, attempting to bite when she ripped the skin of his other shoulder, breaking the bone in the process. The rogue moved back, crying out for help. She took that as an advantage and chewed his leg. He was bleeding profusely, screaming in pain when she decided to silent his pleas.

My wolf dug her teeth into his neck and tore his throat, watching him taking his last breath with a delighted grin.

She was distracted and didn't notice the smell of another wolf. He jumped on her back and bite her arm when a grey wolf came out of nowhere and grabbed him from his mouth, hauling him away from her.

When the smell hit her, she realized it was her mate. His magnificent grey wolf didn't let go of the rogue despite his struggles. He clasped rogue neck harder, breaking it and throwing his lifeless body aside.

My wolf was watching her mate in trance, she was amazed at the size of his wolf and his silky grey fur that she desperately wanted to feel.

Her mate walked closer to her and persuaded her to lay on her back then he licked her wound clean.

She was delighted at the sight of her mate taking care of her. She howled in pleasure when his tongue moved to her neck from her arm. He licked the area where he wanted to mark his mate and it sends shivers to her backbone. Her wolf licked his jaw, showing her affection for him and that's when he decided to make a move.

He sunk his teeth into her delicate neck marking her soul with his, bounding her to him until death do them apart.
