chapter eighteen, You are Wonkru or you are the enemy of Wonkru...

There they were. Only a few steps away from getting that valley of theres. From going to war and getting a real place to call home. Wonkru stood in position keeping Nova and Octavia protected as they checked their surroundings moving from rock to rock. "Two pillboxes, just like Echo said" Bellamy says looking through the scope of his gun. Gunfire is heard in the distance and Nova and Octavia look to each other. "That's our signal" Bellamy says and Nova sends a smile Octavia's way as the gunfire continues.

Bellamy looks through his scope again, "It's working. They're moving out" Bellamy states and Nova motions all of Wonkru to join and they do. They all begin marching up trying there best to stay hidden as the enemy team moves out of their position.

While walking towards the valley Ethan walks up beside Octavia and Nova looks between them and smiles at them before looking ahead. "Jaha would be proud of you, Ethan" Octavia says and Ethan smiles at her but shortly after a gunshot is heard and it hit Ethan right in the head. Nova and Octavia widen there eyes and look around at their surroundings and duck as multiple people from Wonkru go down from the gunshots at them.

"Attack! Attack!" Nova screams looking back at Wonkru and see some of them shooting back but dying quickly. "You two! Get cover!" Bellamy shouts grabbing Nova and Octavia's arms and dragging them away as a loud bang is heard behind them. Nova looks back and sees her people being blown up.

Nova grabs a gun from the ground along with Octavia and hides behind a rock with her as they shoot at the enemies together. "Stay low! Stand your ground!" Nova shouts and her people shoot back at the enemy but some are dying quickly. "Retreat! Back to the bunker!" Brell shouts grabbing everyone's attention. Nova widens her eyes and sees some of her people running away from the fight. "No! We fight!" Nova shouts as she shoots her gun. "Advance! It's the only way!" Octavia orders as Bellamy rushes over to Nova and Octavia.

"O! O, it's the only way. We go back, or we find another--" Bellamy drags Nova and Octavia out of there position but stops his sentence as he hears a gun wiring up in the distance. The gun fired back at them and blew up near them making them go flying.

"Ah!" Bellamy shouts as him, Octavia and Nova drop on the ground near each other. "Ah.. Ow" Nova breathes out as she moves her fingers around and breathes heavily as her head lays down in the sand and she is faces Octavia while Bellamy is on the other side of her. Nova closes her eyes tightly trying to control the ringing in her ears while Octavia starts moving. "O, don't move. I said, don't move. The second we move, we're dead. Get down" Bellamy warns and Octavia stays still and looks at Nova who finally opens her eyes again.

"Bellamy, This is all your fault" Octavia says and Nova hears Bellamy scoff. "We are not doing this now. Judging by the number of dead, some of your army must have made it back to the wasteland. They won't last long without food or water" Bellamy states and Nova let's out a breath and looks around as much as she can. "Then we have to get back to them" Nova states and Octavia breathes heavily.

"I agree. You lay down covering fire, and we run" Octavia suggests. "O, I lost my weapon. We have to wait until it's dark. Once we make it back, we get the radio, and we surrender. We can't win. It's over. But we can still save our people--" Bellamy states and Nova groans in pain. "This war isn't over until I say it's over. Now, we know what we're up against and we can win once we're able to fight back" Nova argues back. "Accept the defeat Nova. You lost. No one will follow you. This is your fault, not mine. You led them here, you had their farm burnt, and you made them march. These people are dead because of you and Octavia. Not me" Bellamy states and Nova and Octavia lock eyes and both try there best to hide there emotions but right now it's not really possible and Octavia begins moving to get up.

"Octavia, don't! Don't move" Nova whisper shouts as she reaches her hand over and holds Octavia down along with Bellamy. "Please!" Nova hears someone shout and manages to move her head up slightly too see them. "What are they doing?" Octavia asks as the 3 people out there hands up in surrender. "Please! We give up!" They shout and Nova widens her eyes. "Get down. Get down!" Bellamy tries to stop them but they are all shot dead immediately. Nova closes her eyes and lets the gunshots ring in her ears. "So much for surrender" Octavia says as she lays her head down flat again and looks towards Nova who lays her head down also. It's gonna be a long night. Nova says as her and Octavia look into each other's both sending smiles to each other.

FLASHBACK TO FOUR YEARS IN THE BUNKER

Nova was lying in her bed it's awakening from her long slumber. She lies down on her back and sees Octavia on the other side of her bed look back at her. Nova turns her body to face Octavia and sees Octavia send Nova a smile.

"You move around in your sleep. A lot" Octavia jokes and Nova let's out a few laughs. It was at least a year after the dark year and things sort of went back to normal. They started getting a few normal rations instead of using the fighting pits for food now. But things were still bad but when Octavia and Nova were together it's like they went away from reality for a little bit and only thought about each other. It was a nice little escape.

"How'd you sleep?" Nova asks as Octavia sits up in the bed and lets out a sigh. "Good. I'm gonna guess you did too" Octavia says and Nova sighs and nods. "I did" Nova says leaving silence between her and Octavia but it wasn't awkward. Octavia looked into Nova's eyes mesmerizing them. "I- I love you" Octavia confesses which catches Nova off guard. Nova sits up in the bed and looks to Octavia. "I love you Nova, even if you don't love me back" Octavia says as she places a hand on Nova's cheek and leans in too kiss her. Nova is hesitant but she accepts the kiss. Nova pulls gently on Octavia's hair before pull Octavia on her lap and deepening the kiss.

Nova starts trailing kisses down Octavia's neck and removes her tank top leaving her upper body bare. Octavia places her lips back onto Nova's the kiss and the kiss becomes more passionate. Nova didn't know how she felt but it was something. Yet, she was still madly in love with Clarke after 4 years of not seeing her.

PRESENT

"I love you" Octavia says bringing Nova back to reality. Nova locks eyes with Octavia again and sees a smile on her face. "I love you, even if you don't love me back. Okay?" Octavia confesses yet again and is hoping a response from Nova. "I love you too Octavia but you aren't dying and neither am I" Nova reassures as her and Octavia slowly grab each other's hands while looking at each other even though it was now dark outside.

A light would come around and shine every so often and Bellamy, Nova and Octavia were still lying on the ground. "Okay, it's dark enough. Next time it passes, we go. Okay. Now" Bellamy says as the light passes them. Octavia helps Nova to her feet and they run until the light gets closer. "Get down" Bellamy warns and the 3 of them quickly lie back on the ground waiting for the light to pass again. "We're clear. Come on" Bellamy says as Nkva and him get up and start to run but look back and see Octavia grabbing a gun. "Octavia, no" Nova says as she looks around.

"We'll never make it past those lights" Octavia states and Nova rushes towards Octavia. "Octavia, please" Nova begs as she places a hand on her shoulder. "Grab a rifle. There's one right there" Octavia says and Nova snatches the rifle out of her hand. "I want a war too but you pull this trigger. We will die!" Nova whisper shouts looking into Octavia's eyes. "We can do this" Bellamy reassures as Nova tosses the rifle.

"Help us" Someone calls out and Nova looks around. "Indra.. Indra" Nova calls out and her, Octavia and Bellamy rush over there before the light can see them. "Gaia's hit. It's bad" Indra states and Nova looks down at Gaia who is holding onto her gunshot wound. "Are you hit, too?" Octavia asks and Indra nods. "Yeah" Indra answers but she lifts Gaias head onto her lap and looks down at her daughter. "We have to get Gaia to Jackson" Nova says as she rips a piece of her clothing and wraps it around Gaias wound.

"No. We can't move her. Wonkru will come back for us" Indra says and Nova breathes heavily ducking her head so the light doesn't catch her. "We need better cover" Nova says looking around. "They won't see us behind those rocks. Down. Now. Come on" Bellamy orders as Octavia and Nova help drag Gaia and Indra over behind the rocks.

"Okay. Even if we stop the bleeding, we'll never make it carrying her" Bellamy says as Nova looks down at Gaia who groans in pain. "Save yourselves. I'm not leaving my daughter" Indra states as she holds her daughter close. "Indra's right. They'll come back for us" Octavia says and Nova nods nods tightening the piece of clothing around Gaias wound. "Why are you doing this? A week ago, you threw us in the pit" Gaia asks looking to Nova.

"Because... A week ago, you were a traitor. Next week, you may be again. Right now, you're Wonrku and I help Wonkru" Nova says looking to Gaia. "They thinks when Wonkru comes back, you'll tell the followers of the flame to follow her back through this gorge" Bellamy states and Nova looks to Bellamy and scoffs. "If they don't everyone will die. Everyone" Nova says as she looks around the gorge and keeps her emotions locked in. For now.

After a couple hours no one came. No Wonkru. No Clarke. No one. "Mother..." Gaia called out and Indra looked down at her daughter who was slowly starting to give out. "I'm here my child" Indra says and Nova looks at them both and can't help but have a tear slide down her cheek. "You have to let me go" Gaia begs and Indra shakes her head. "No. Wonkru will come for us. They will fight. Just hold on a little longer-" Indra demands and Gaia shakes her head. "They won't come. Wonkru is broken. My fight is over" Gaia mumbles and Bellamy places his hand on Gaia's shoulder.

"Hey, no. What about Madi? What kind of flamekeeper leaves a 12 year old in command to fend for herself? Keep fighting, if not for you, then for her" Bellamy reassures and Nova sniffles her tears in and pushes her back up against the rock. "I broke.. Wonkru" Nova says and Indra turns to look at her. "Yes, you did" Indra replies and Nova covers her mouth and lets the tears fall out. "You didn't do it alone. I had a part in it too. I won't let you do this alone. Ever" Octavia says as tears slide down her cheek and she looks Nova in these feeling the pain with her.

Octavia looked around and slowly started to stand to her feet. "There's someone alive out there" Octavia says as she starts to stand and Bellamy helps Nova bring her back down. "Get down. They'll see you" Bellamy warns and Octavia looks to Bellamy. "What do you care if I die? Isn't that what you want?" Octavia asks and Bellamy is hesitant but he answers, "Yes". It catches Octavia off guard and she looks to Nova who grabs ahold of her hand.

"Her heartbeat is slowing. We need to go now. I'll give them a target. The next time they open fire, we run" Indra states and Nova looks to Indra. "I'll carry Gaia" Bellamy states as he tries to lift her. "No. You're not dying for me" Gaia states and Nova sighs. "She's right. I may never be able to fix what I broke, but I can save you. I'm the one they want most of all. When they open fire, run like hell" Octavia says and Nova shakes her head grabbing Octavia's jacket and bringing her down. "You're not dying. I said that earlier. Octavia don't" Nova says as Octavia pushes her away. "All of me, for all of us" Octavia says and Nova looks to Bellamy. "That's your sister and you're going to let her die!" Nova says and Bellamy sighs. "She's already dead" Bellamy replies and Nova looks back at Octavia who walks over to Bellamy and looks him in the eyes. "My brother....my responsibility" Octavia says before she stands to her feet.

"No, No! Octavia! No!" Nova shouts out but Bellamy holds her back and puts his hand over her mouth. "Mm, Let me go!" Nova mumbles as she tries to stop Octavia. She watches Octavia stand before the enemy and begin shooting her weapon to bring there attention her way. "Octavia! No!" Nova screams out but Bellamy continues to hold her back while Octavia shoots at the enemy. "You are Wonkru, or you are the enemy of Wonkru. Choose" Octavia shouts and shoots until she has no more bullets. Once she has no more bullets she looks back into Nova's eyes before tossing her gun and putting her arms out and drop to her knees ready to surrender and die for her people.

Nova hears a river pull up and gunshots hears from behind. Bellamy lets go of Nova and they both look in the distance. Nova knows Octavia gets to live so she rushes towards Octavia and pulls her out of the light. "Octavia, get in, now!" Echo shouts and Nova and Octavia rush to Indra and Gaia and help them in the river before getting in themselves after Bellamy.

The group drives off out of the gorge. Nova looks to Octavia and shakes her head towards her. "How could you?" Nova asks and Octavia breathes heavily looking to Nova.
