chapter forty-one, The Demon

The ship door opens and Nova holds her gun to Theo's head while Niylah, Indra and multiple other members of Wonkru stand on the other side looking at them in shock. "Nova? Clarke, Abby, what're you doing?" Niylah asks as she slowly starts to put down her gun. "That's not Nova, Clarke or Abby" Indra points out and Clarke smiles at the amazing observation, still impersonating Josephine.

"Very good. Seems we got our nightblood despite what I'm told what you did with Kane. Now you have three seconds to stand down" Clarke states and Indra furrows her eyebrows as she grips the gun in her hand. "Or what? If you kill them, we kill you. You didn't think this through" Indra taunts and Clarke sighs before she points the gun right at Gaia's head. "One... Two" Nova counts as she looks over to Indra. Gaia nods her head Indra's way indicating everything will be okay and they should just stand down.

"Weapons down now" Indra orders and everyone places there weapons down. Clarke turns to Russel with a smile letting him know she was right, "Told you. Clarke's memories may suck, but they do come in handy".

The primes start walking further into the ship and they land in the cafeteria where most of Wonkru is held. "Indra, what is this?" A man asks as Indra and multiple other people are dragged into the room as well. "Just stay calm" Indra orders as the rest of the primes walk into the cafeteria with guns to the head of hostages Theo, Raven, Gaia, Madi and Jackson.

"How many more of you are awake?" Simone, who has taken over Abby's body asks. "None" Indra answers and Simone tilts her head, "Are you sure? We'll sweep the ship. Anyone we find dies, and for each of them, so does one of you. Care to amend your answer?" Simone asks and Indra shrugs her shoulders, "No" Indra states with so much hostility. Russel brings Madi who has been taken over by Sheidheda, up front with a gun to her head. "Ok. You're their leader, so here's the situation. We're setting sail for planet Beta. It's a 20 year journey. You can take it with us peacefully in cryo..." Russel explains as he takes the restraints off Madi's wrist. Nova removes the gun from Theo's head and gently takes the restraints off of him, allowing him to remove the gag from his mouth as he walked over with Wonkru with Gaia, Raven, and Jackson.

"Or you can die, today. We'll give you an hour to decide" Russel finishes explaining and Madi is pushed over to Indra and her people. Once the gag is removed from her mouth Madi thought it was okay to start a fight in the middle of a ship, "Attack!" Madi screams and Nova widens her eyes as screaming and shouting is heard along with gunshots, and a few men drop to the ground groaning. Simone starts walking towards Madi but Clarke and Nova know that they would kill her or hurt her even more so Clarke and Nova rushes over to Madi and Nova grabs onto Madi's arm keeping her in place.

"Let me go!" Madi screams before Nova locks eyes with Clarke and kicks the back of Madi's leg bringing her to the ground. "No one gives orders here but us, little one" Nova says to Madi before Clarke punches Madi to the ground, "Uch, let them rot. Come on we have things to discuss" Clarke says and Nova roughly let's go of Madi before stepping over her and walking over to the rest of the primes. The primes start leaving, Jackson heads over to check Madi.

"Devotion like that is dangerous. They obeyed her even though they knew that they would die" Russel says as him and the primes gather together. "She's what they call a commander. She's like us they just have really harsh rules. Whoever has this um- flame is the leader, if you can't die for your leader then you don't belong in the clan" Nova explains without trying to sound educated in this situation since she's still trying to play a character. "Just wait. Planet Beta... Russell, we don't even know if it's survivable" One of the men say changing the subject.

"If it isn't we go for Gamma, then Delta, then Epsilon. We won't even have to land to find out if it's survivable. Assuming there are no other signal-sucking anomalies, we can access the mind drives of the teams wirelessly from up here. Come on, we were explorers once, weren't we?" Russel says questionably before Simone starts walking towards him and Nova looks to Abby shocked that it's not her anymore. Shocked that Clarke lost her mother quicker than most. "Russell, I love you and I will go with you across the stars and back, but you're right. That child is a problem" Simone states and Clarke and Nova lock eyes before bringing there attention back to the main problem.

"Oh for god's sake, she has the blood. In fact, dibs on her as my next host" Clarke says cheerfully. "No no. I definitely get her. She's badass" Nova argues as Clarke rolls her eyes, "You just want to be just like me huh, Violet" Clarke says as she starts to step towards Nova. "Trust me Josie.. I don't" Nova states as she and Clarke bump chest and look into each other's eyes trying to keep there composure and keep up the act. "Alright" Russel warns and Nova and Clarke back away from each other.

"Simone, if we kill their leader, they will never follow us, and we need those people to serve us unless you plan on cleaning latrines" Russel argues and Abby aka Simone rolls her eyes with an annoyed sigh, "Fine. Then we kill her sleeping army because I promise you they are already talking about how to wake them. We brought enough mind wiping fluid to erase them all in their sleep, where they'll be perfectly preserved until one of us needs a new host" Simone rants and Nova nods her head understandingly even though she's not won there side.

"We'll never even have to know them" A women speaks up and her and Simone share a smile. "Fine, but then it's on to Beta. Agreed? Josie, Violet, what do you say?" Russel asks finally asking for Violet's opinion. Nova shrugs her shoulder and nods her head, "I was going to be mean and say it was a horrible plan but it's actually pretty good" Nova agrees and everyone looks over at Josephine. "Heh. Are you kidding? It's brilliant. A little genocide, a long nap. What the hell, let's be explorers" Clarke cheers and everyone around her smiles except Nova who keeps her guard up.

Nova and Clarke stand in front of the door where the rest of Wonkru is still asleep while Simone works on the tank that's on the wall. "Heh. I can't believe I'm saying this, but... are we sure? I mean, it is the rest of the human race after all" Clarke suggests thinking just maybe she can change their minds. "Yeah, as much as I want to live forever.. is this is the right thing to do?" Nova asks going along with it.

"You sound like Russel. Well, it's bigger than the tank on Eligius 3, but this is where it goes. Hand me the serum" Simone says as she puts her hand out. Nova looks between Clarke and Simone and steps beside Clarke. "Wait a minute. Just- Wait" Nova says and looks over to Clarke who stares at her mother who isn't her mother in slight confusion. "Are you feeling ok? You look pale. Have you had any nosebleeds or memory flashes that aren't familiar?" Clarke asks and Simone shrugs her shoulders, "No, what are you talking about?" Simone asks and Nova swings her head over to look at Simone with curiosity.

"Oh, it's something I saw in Clarke's mindspace. Her Mother had the same neuromesh as she did. I thought they destroyed with an EMP, but-" Clarke rants until Russel interrupts. "They did. I examined her before resurrection. I wasn't about to make the same mistake twice" Russel says and Nova let's out a breath of realization. "Josephine... Give it to me" Simone begs and Clarke and Nova turn their heads at the same to look at Simone while Clarke holds the serum in her hand.

Clarke and Nova both pull out their guns and Clarke raises hers at Simone and Nova raises hers at Russel who begins to cry looking at Clarke who isn't Josephine. "No. No. Not Josie" Russel cries as he shakes his head. Nova and Clarke start backing away at the same time while Clarke holds the serum in her hand. "I can't let you kill these people" Clarke says as Nova stops in her tracks and moves the gun between Russel and Simone. "Believe it or not, We are sorry for your loss" Nova says before her and Clarke walk away together and run down the hall way together leaving Russel and Simone in shock.

"Come on, we've gotta get to the airlock and get rid of this serum" Clarke says as her and Nova continue running before they finally reach the air lock. Clarke hands Nova the serum as she starts adjusting the controls on the lever that opens up the air lock. "Clarke.. I'm sorry about your mother" Nova says and Clarke takes a deep breath and looks over at Nova. "We don't have time to grieve" Clarke states as she grabs the restraints. "You can go behind the wall while I press the lever so you don't get dragged out as well" Clarke states as she tightens the restraints around her waist.

"Here" Nova says as she hands Clarke the serum im which she sets on the ground behind her and suddenly they hear multiple guns click behind them making Nova spin around and point her gun at all the primes and a few guards that came with them. Clarke places her hand on the lever quickly, "That far enough. I set the inner door to stay open when I pull this, so you can put the guns down, or you can float" Clarke states while Nova stands next to her pointing her gun at anyone who moves. "Put your guns down!" Nova orders and Simone looks around at her people. "You heard her. Weapons down now" Simone states as she takes one of the guards gun and starts pointing them at her people.

"Mom?" Clarke questions and Simone takes a few steps towards Clarke. "Yes. It's me" Simone says and Nova furrows her eyes brows. "Simone, what are you doing?" One of the primes ask and Simone who's apparently Abby shoots at the ground as a warning shot which startles the primes and they follow orders. "Clarke, I've been pretending, too. Now let's lock them up and go save Madi. Don't move. Keep your hands where I can see them" Abby orders as she points her gun at the primes. Nova slowly puts her gun down and looks at Abby and knows they are just trying to get in Clarke's head. "Clarke.. That's not your mother" Nova whispers and Clarke shakes her head as a tear falls down her cheek.

"What's my father's name?" Clarke asks and a moment of silence happens when Abby turns her body to face Clarke and she can't even give her an answer. "Clarke pull it" Nova says and Clarke looks over at Nova with confusion. "You'll float" Clarke states and Nova notices Simone lunging at Clarke, "Pull it!" Nova screams as she drops her gun and pulls the lever which opens the air lock. "No!" Clarke screams as she holds onto Nova's hand while the wind picks up and drags the rest of the primes out into space. "No!" Simone shouts as she grabs ahold of Nova's hand and Nova surprisingly keeps Simone's hand in hers.

"Nova!" Clarke shouts and Nova turns her head to face Clarke. "Let her go!" Clarke cries and Nova shakes her head but Clarke retaliates and nods her head letting Nova know it's okay. And Nova did just that. She let go of Abby's hand and let her drift off into space causing her and the rest of the primes instant death. Clarke pulls the lever down which closes the airlock and makes Clarke and Nova drop to the ground. Once Clarke hits the ground she begins to sob and Nova tries to catch her breath while she crawls towards Clarke and brings her into an embrace. "I'm so sorry" Nova whispers as a tear slides down her cheek.

Once Clarke and Nova were done they decided to go to the cafeteria to see their people and once they got there all eyes were on them. "Clarke, how- - how did you--" Raven wonders. "Shaw's failsafe code" Clarke answers as she walks into the room and looks around. "Nova" Raven says stepping towards Nova while Nova looks to her. "Miss me?" Nova asks jokingly as Raven smashed her body up against Nova's and embraced her into a hug which shocked Nova and most people around the room. "Hey, are you okay?" Theo asks as he walks up and embraces Nova in a hug after Raven pull away. "Yeah, I'm fine" Nova says as she pats Theo's back and looks up to him starting to get closer with him than she expected which scares her. One brother of hers died... she can't risk losing another one.

"Where's Madi?" Clarke asks looking around as tears stained her face. "Russel-- Russel took her" Gaia answers and Clarke shakes her head, "Oh, no. Oh, no. No, no" Clarke cries out as she begins to stumble on the floor but Niylah and Nova grab ahold of her before she can. "It's okay. We'll get her back" Niylah says and Nova locks eyes with Niylah.

"No. You don't understand. I killed his family, and now he's gonna kill mine" Clarke sobs and Gaia steps towards Clarke, "I'm won't let that happen" Gaia says before the door opens, Madi, Russel, and an army walks in. "The demon awoke Wonkru" Indra announces and Nova looks around at all of Wonkru. People she used to lead. People who used to look up to her and die for her in those fighting pits. "Silence. Kneel if you want to live." Madi orders and Clarke drops to her knees first. "Lexa kom Trikru said you were strong, but you're as weak as her. Your love has made you so" Madi declares and Nova furrows her eyebrows in confusion as she looks to Madi in shock while Clarke pulls out a gun.

"Gun!" Someone shouts before Clarke points it at her own head. "Clarke.. Clarke! No!" Nova shouts as she lunges towards Clarke but Gaia and Niylah grab ahold of her and pull her towards the crowd. "Let me go!" Nova begs as Clarke sobs at the sound of Nova's screams. "Madi, Madi I know you are in there. Please come back to me. I lost my mother today. I can't lose you, too. Oh, please. I'm going to pull the trigger... in three... two..." Clarke counts down and tears uncontrollably fall down Nova's cheek as she looks down at the love of her life wiling to kill herself to take away the pain.

"No! Let me go! Clarke!" Nova shouts before Madi takes a breath and comes back. "Take the prime and his men!" Madi orders as Madi rushes to Clarke and her and Clarke hugs, and then madi starts seizing. Niylah and Gaia let go of Nova and Nova rushes towards Clarke and helps her lay Madi onto the floor. "Madi?" Clarke wonders in curiosity. "She's seizing" Jackson states and Raven widens her eyes. "Get her upstairs!" Raven shouts and Nova, Gaia, Clarke and Theo helps carry Madi upstairs and lay her on the medal table.

"Hold her steady" Raven says as she starts getting the computer set up and places something in Madi's neck. "Madi, Madi, I'm here. Listen to my voice. You can do this. You have to fight, Madi. You have to fight!" Clarke shouts as she pushes Madi's hair out of her face. "Once more with feeling. Got him!" Raven cheers as the computer chimes and everyone tries to keep Madi in place before Madi falls limp.

"Well, why isn't she waking up?" Nova asks as she catches her breath and looks over at Raven. "Her pulse is too weak" Jackson states and Clarke shakes her head. "No, no, no, no" Clarke sobs as she lays her on Madi's body. "Wait. I've seen this before. Look, I could be wrong but whatever is in her head you may have to take it out. Like you did with that EMP trick you were telling me about" Theo states as he looks to Raven who sends him a smile and a nod. "You're so right" Raven says as she grabs medical supplies and places them onto a tray and slides it over to Clarke.

Clarke cuts the scar on Madi's neck from the flame and takes the flame out of her head and Nova helps by grabbing patches to stop the blood from pouring out. Madi lets out a gasps of air and widens her eyes. "I'll close" Jackson says as he takes over. "I'm here. You're ok" Clarke whispers as she kisses the top of Madi's head.

"I'm not the Commander anymore" Madi says and Nova clears her throat as she backs away from the table and watches Clarke and Raven share a hug. "What the hell" Theo mumbles as he watches the computer. Raven walks over and Nova turns to see what's going on. "What happened- Woah.." Raven breathes out as she realizes. "Where the hell did he go?" Theo asks as he looks over at Raven who looks back at him with confusion.

The ship went back down to Sanctum and when Nova exited the ship the sun beamed down on them. Nova's group went back to the castle and saw the rest of there group. "Jackson!" Miller shouts as him and Jackson rush towards each other and embrace in a hug and then a kiss. "Octavia.." Nova breathes out as she and Octavia rush to each other before there bodies smash into one another and they both wrap there arms around in each other in a friendly, caring, loving hug. "Are you alright?" Octavia asks and Nova nods her head in the crock of Octavia's neck. "I'm okay" Nova mumbles.

"I hate to say it but I actually missed you Nova" Emori says making Nova pull apart from Octavia and look to Emori who still has an elegant blue dress on with make up. "Don't get all nice on me now" Nova jokes as her and Emori let out a few chuckles and exchange a fist bump not ready for the hugging stage just yet.

"I'm glad you're okay" Echo says as Nova turns to face her. Nova sends her a smile before her and Echo clasps hands and pull each other into a hug. "I'm glad you're okay too" Nova mumbles before her and Echo pull apart and Echo goes onto hug and greet the others. "Nova.." Bellamy greets as him and Nova walks towards each other. "Bellamy" Nova greets and they both stand there awkwardly for awhile before Nova shakes her head and chuckles. "Come here" Nova says before she brings Bellamy into a hug and he surprisingly accepts it. "I forgive you.. for everything" Nova admits and Bellamy tightens the hug.
