chapter forty-two, Anomaly

BEGINNING OF SEASON 7

"Mm" Clarke moans into the kiss as she straddles on top of Nova with a sheet from the bed covering both of their bare bodies. Clarke and Nova pull apart, breathing heavily, and sweat beaming off their foreheads. Clarke uses the sheet to cover her upper body and moves to lay down as Nova does the same and lays down next to Clarke. Nova turns her head towards Clarke and they both burst out into laughter before placing there lips onto each other's.

"Clarke! You said I can go to school today!" Madi shouts from outside the locked door. Clarke pulls away from the kiss and groans in annoyance. "Coming!" Clarke shouts and lets out a sigh. "You did say that" Nova says as she pushes the hair out her face. "Care to do it for me?" Clarke asks as she sits up in the bed. Nova chuckles and shakes her head as she sits up being eye level with Clarke. "No, you said someone has to go check on Gabriel, Bellamy and the rest of them" Nova says and Clarke sighs as she narrows her eyes at Nova.

"Don't get mad at me" Nova jokes before she leans in and pecks Clarke's lip before standing up from the bed and getting dressed in her tight black tank top, leather jacket with spikes on the end of the sleeves, high waisted denim jeans and black boots.

"I'll see you later" Nova says as she walks to the bedroom door. "Nova-" Clarke calls out and Nova stops and turns her head to face her. "Be careful.. I love you" Clarke confesses and Nova forms a genuine smile on her face before nodding her head. "Always am. I love you too" Nova confesses as well before she grabs her weapons belt that holds her sword and exits the room and walks downstairs to the kitchen to see Raven cooking a meal and Theo right by her side. "Unless you're gonna help me, move" Raven says as Theo continuously kept placing kisses on her cheek. "I can help with a lot of things" Theo flirts as he lifts Raven's chin to look over at him.

Nova clears her throat loudly, startling the new couple. "Oh, Nova" Raven sighs as she turns to look at Nova. "Going somewhere?" Theo asks. "Yeah, to check on Bellamy and the rest of the group at Gabriel's tent. See how they're doing" Nova answers as she adjusts the sleeves of her jacket. "Let me join you" Theo says before he takes a sip of his water. "I'm good" Nova says as she starts walking to the back door. "No.. I want to help maybe that training you've taught me can be put to use" Theo says as he goes into a weird karate stance.

"I've never seen Nova fight like.. that" Raven says as she chuckles at his weird stance and shakes her head jokingly. "Fine, you can join if you don't do.. that ever again" Nova says as she crosses her arms. "Fine" Theo says before he pulls Raven in for a genuine kiss. "I'll see you later" Theo says as they pull away from each other. "Be careful" Raven warns and Theo smiles, "Always am" Theo states as he shows Raven the gun in his holster before him and Nova leave the house and walk through sanctum before making it to the woods.

"So, you and Raven?" Nova asks as she steps over a few tree branches. "She's great and smart and beautiful just all around amazing" Theo rants and Nova nods her head as she rest her arm on the handle of her sword as the two continue to walk through the woods. "You and Clarke are really loud by the way-" Theo begins and Nova stops him from finishing the sentence by slapping the side of his arm. "Ow! Just saying- I thought Raven and I were bad" Theo says and Nova chuckles as she shakes her head.

"Bellamy? Bellamy!" Nova and Theo hear in the distance as they get closer to Gabriel's tent. "Echo? Echo!" Nova shouts as she taps Theo's arm and they both start running towards the tent. Once they close they see Echo flung into the air and Bellamy being dragged away by.. nothing. "Echo!" Nova shouts as she starts running towards Echo and suddenly feels something kick her stomach and she is sent a few feet away, her body backing up onto a tree roughly. "Ah!" Nova groans as she places her hand on her lower back.

"Nova!" Theo shouts as he rushes to Nova and helps her to her feet. "Echo..." Nova breathes out as she lays onto Theo for support. Echo stands to her feet again after seeing Bellamy continue to be dragged away by literal air. But once she rose to her feet she was kicked back again landing on her stomach as she fell.

"Bellamy! Echo?" Gabriel shouts as he rushes out of his tent towards Echo. "Gabriel! Go back inside" Theo warns and Gabriel stops in his tracks. "We're not alone. Back inside. Watch the girl" Echo says as she stands in place, afraid that if she moves she'll be hit again. "What girl? Where's Octavia?" Nova asks as she looks between Gabriel and Echo. "The girl is already gone. Come on. We can still catch her-" Gabriel says before his shoulder is hit and he is sent flying through the air falling onto the ground roughly "Uhh!" Gabriel grunts when he hits the ground.

"Should've listened" Nova mumbles as she shakes her head and grabs Theo's arm and walks over to Echo, surprisingly not getting hit. "Something else came through" Gabriel says as Theo and Echo help him to his feet. "Welcome to the party" Echo mocks as she looks around cautiously.

"Where's Bellamy?" Gabriel asks. "It took him, towards the anomoly" Echo answers and Theo furrows his eyebrows in confusion. "Anomoly?" Theo questions. "Yes, heard of it?" Echo asks as she looks around. "Yes, I barley know anything about it though" Theo answers. "Time's not behaving. We have to get to him first" Gabriel says as he grabs his bag from the ground and Echo grabs a gun off the ground. "Echo, you can't shoot what you can't see" Gabriel states confusingly.

"Stop talking. I'm opening up a path. Follow me!" Echo shouts as everyone begins to follow behind her while she shoots in front of them making them a path so they can run and get Bellamy before anyone else does. "I should have said a better good bye" Nova mumbles as she runs through the woods with Theo, Echo, and Gabriel.

"Bellamy! Call out if you can hear me!" Echo shouts as the group pants while running through the woods not stopping for any reason until Gabriel stops making Theo run into him. "What the hell are you doing?" Nova asks as she holds the side of her stomach catching her breath. "Making sure we're not being followed" Gabriel answers as he looks around. "By what? We literally can't see anything!" Nova argues. "Have you ever seen anything like that?" Echo asks walking towards Gabriel who shakes his head and quiets down as rustling is heard in the trees making everyone turn there heads.

Echo pulls out her gun and Nova grabs the gun out of Theo's holster and walks behind Echo checking to see if anyone's around and all of a sudden a girl pops out of the trees and attacks Echo knocking the gun out of her hand. "Hope! No!" Gabriel begs and Nova tries to send a punch Hope's way but Hope ducks and swings her leg trying to get both Echo and Nova but they both duck and Nova and Echo circle Hope.

Hope wastes no time and goes for Nova first and extends her leg out, trying to send a kick to her stomach but Nova grabs Hope's leg, pulls her closer and sends an elbow to Hope's chest making Hope let out a harsh cough as she backs away. Echo rushes towards Hope and begins fighting her, gaining the upper hand but it's obvious Hope has some serious training and manages to grab ahold of Echo's arm and twist her around. "I don't want to hurt you" Hope says and Nova scoffs as he grabs Hope's arm and twist it around her back making Hope scream out in pain and let go of Echo. "Then you should have thought about that before you attacked us!" Nova shouts as she knees Hope in the back and knocks her down on the ground.

Hope turns on her back and Nova grabs Theo's gun off the ground and points it at Hope. "Who are you? Where's Octavia, and why are they taking Bellamy to the anomoly?" Echo asks as her and Nova stand above Hope. "Bellamy's gone?" The girl asks and Nova furrows her eyebrows as she tosses Theo his gun and helps the girl to her feet. "What do you mean? He was getting dragged away" Nova says as she catches her breath.

"Wait, You know him? You remember?" Gabriel asks as him and Theo take a few steps towards her. "No. You called to him from the tent. This... was in my arm" Hope states as she pulls out a piece of paper and hands it to Echo. Nova looks over at the note and it says "Trust Bellamy" Nova reads aloud and looks over to Theo who shrugs his shoulders. Gabriel walks over to Echo and takes the note so him and Theo could take a look at it. "Look" Theo whispers as he points to something on the paper that catches his eye.

"It's another code. Like the one on Octavia's back. What's it for?" Gabriel asks as he raises his head and looks at Hope who shrugs her shoulders. "I don't know" She answers. "Stop lying!" Echo shouts and looks to Hope aggressively. "Easy. Octavia lost her memory, too. Must be a result of moving through the anomoly" Gabriel defends and Nova let's out a sigh as she looks around the woods. "Whats an anomaly?" Hope asks and Nova scoffs. "It's the sound you hear" Gabriel answers.

"You said Octavia's name right before you stabbed her. You remembered then, and you remember now" Echo states and Nova widens her eyes, "You what?!" Nova screams as she lunges at Hope and grabs ahold of her throat and backs her up against a tree. "Nova! Nova!" Theo shouts as he walks over to Nova. "Nova!" Theo shouts one more time and Nova let's go of Hope's throat making her cough and gasp for air.

"You- Where's Octavia?!" Nova shouts as a tear slides down her cheek before she lunges at Hope once more but Theo wraps his arms around her and pulls her away. "We- We need to- We need to get to Bellamy" Hope stutters as she tries to control her breathing.

"How fast can you run?" Echo asks. "I don't know. Let's find out" Hope says and Echo nods her head as Hope begins running before them in the woods. "Nova, we have to go. We will find Octavia" Echo reassures and Nova nods her head as her, Echo, Gabriel, and Theo run through the woods trying to catch up with Hope.

They continue to run through the woods until the sun feel and the night sky shined down on them. Gabriel stopped in his tracks as he began to notice small clouds of smoke surrounding the area. "Wait. Wait, wait, wait. Too much toxin in the air" Gabriel points out as looks through his bag. "Like eclipse toxin?" Theo questions and Gabriel nods his head, "I am not in the mood to see my ghost right now, are you?" He asks as he inhaled a bit of antitoxin and suddenly a loud shot is heard behind them making Nova and Theo be the last ones to drop to the knees. "Is that a ray gun?" Theo questions out of curiosity as he looks around. The 5 of them all gather behind trees for cover and take deep breathes.

"If it shoots, it can be shot at" Echo states as another shot comes there way but it's no where near them. "That was a bad shot, even from far away" Echo states before she starts to leave her cover from behind the trees. "Echo? Echo, what are you doing?" Gabriel asks as he tries to grab Echo but she's already away from the trees. "Testing a theory" Echo says as she stands in the middle of the woods waiting for another shot and Nova knows exactly what she's doing.

"A theory? If you're wrong--" Gabriel states before another shot is sent Echo's way but misses her completely. "She's not, it's not trying to kill us" Nova agrees as she looks to Echo before Gabriel pulls her back behind the trees for cover. "We're not playing by the same rules. Echo, look around you. The particulate matter moves in response to motion. They come close enough..." Gabriel rants. "I'll have a target. To set the trap, we have to open up a lead. Follow me" Echo states and Nova groans in annoyance as she grabs Theo's arm and lets him know it's time to run again.

The group gathers behind a log of trees for cover and Echo uses her gun to get a shot and Nova uses Theo's gun to have her back. The group hears rustling in the trees but can't see anything but they know it's there. "Here it comes. No one move, or it won't come close enough" Echo warns and Nova nods her head and suddenly starts feeling light headed. "Woah" Nova whispers and closes her eyes before taking a deep breath and pointing the gun at the invisible target.

"Monster.." Someone whispers and Nova whips her body around looks behind her in fear. "Luna?" Nova mumbles as squints her eyes and sees Luna come into view and walk towards her. "You guys didn't use the antitoxin, it's not real" Gabriel warns and Nova's breathing picks up as she looks Luna, the girl who killed her brother. "What? Afraid?" Luna questions in a low spooky voice. "It's not real.." Nova mumbles as she closes her eyes.

"You can't escape your demons that quickly, Nova" Nova hears and opens her eyes seeing Iris standing in front of her and Nova begins to shake her head. "What do I do?" Nova asks as she looks to Gabriel. "Fight it.." Gabriel says and Nova nods her head and turns around and points her gun at the invisible target. "Echo? Guys, it's close" Gabriel says and Nova's hands begin to shake as Luna continues to appear in her vision. "Echo.. one of us has to do it" Nova states as she takes a deep breath.

"Mom?" Theo says as he looks into the distance and tears flood his eyes. "Mom!" Theo shouts and Gabriel rushes over to him and places a hand over his mouth. "It's in your mind. You have to fight it. Fight it" Gabriel says as tears uncontrollably fall down Theo's cheeks while he watches and listens to his hallucinations. "Echo, they're right there. Take the shot. Now. One do you pull the damn trigger now" Gabriel orders and Nova grips the gun tightly. "For my brother!" Nova shouts as she and Echo begin shooting in the distance hitting as many targets as they can together. As they were shooting people were screaming and once it was done Nova dropped the gun and let the tears fall before coming back to reality.

"Nova.." Theo says as he sniffles in his tears and helps Nova to her feet. "Gabriel, there could be more. We have to go. Now" Echo warns as they group gets ready to leave but Gabriel goes and inspects the bodies. "We need to know what we're dealing with" Gabriel argues as he removes the removes the helmet from the body, revealing a man.

"He's just a man. Same tattoos as yours" Gabriel says looking to Hope with tattoos on her face. Nova notices someone lift there arm up from the ground and both Nova and Echo wastes no time in shooting the person multiple times with no remorse. "The anomoly. It's quieter. They're shutting it down" Gabriel notices as the sounds around them fade away. "What does that mean?" Hope asks. "It means they can control it" Theo adds understanding Gabriel's logic.

"What if it means they're taking Bellamy through and they don't want us to follow?" Echo says as she begins to run and the group follows her with no hesitation. The 5 of them run together and as they run closer to the faint sound Nova and Theo are shocked to see a large green tornado type thing flying in the distance. "Woah" Nova breathes out as she continues running. "Bellamy!" Echo shouts as she starts running towards the anomaly.

"No! No! Slow down. Echo" Gabriel says as he rushes and stops Echo from entering the anomaly. "It's closing!" Echo shouts. "We go through together. If we're even seconds apart, we could be seperated by months. Okay?" Gabriel says as he looks around at the ground. Nova and Theo nod there heads, ready to along for the journey. Gabriel grabs ahold of Hope and Echo's hand. Echo looks over at Nova and they both grab each other's hand and Nova grabs ahold of Theo's and the five of them walk through the anomaly... together.
