chapter nineteen, Goodnight

The rover pulls up to polis and Bellamy and Murphy help Gaia out of the rover. "Little help, little help, we've got wounded" Murphy calls out and Octavia and Nova get out of the rover and are met with there people. "Stand down! Stand down! They're with us" Harper calls out. "Monty, where's Jackson? She's lost a lot of blood" Bellamy asks as they escort Gaia to medical. "She'll be okay now" Octavia reassures Indra who looks over at her. "Will she? Look around you. Do you see signs of hope here?" Indra asks as she goes after her daughter in medical leaving Nova and Octavia side by side.

"Heda is going to save us" someone calls out making Nova and Octavia turn there heads to see everyone surrounding Madi. Octavia pulls out her sword and Nova locks eyes with her and takes her sword out also. "What are you doing?" Bellamy asks as Nova and Octavia walk up to the crowd but Bellamy stops in front of them.

"Let them pass" Madi orders. "I wouldn't hurt her" Nova says looking to Bellamy sincerely. "I said, let them pass" Madi orders and Bellamy moves out the way and Octavia and Nova walk in the circle and are met with Madi with guns pointed at them but are completely unfazed by it.

"I wouldn't hurt you... Heda" Nova says as she tosses her sword on the guard and sends a smile to Madi before kneeling before her. Octavia slams her sword into the guard and kneels before Madi also shocking the crowd. Madi looks around and sees everyone kneeling before her and dropping their weapons.

"What are they doing?" Madi asks and Nova lifts her head up looking to Madi. "They're kneeling. You're there leader. Lead them" Nova says as Madi looks around at all of Wonkru kneeled before her including Nova and Octavia. Nova's leading days are officially over...

Nova stands around a group that includes Echo, Octavia, Miller and Brell while Wonkru stands in separate lines ready to march. "We can't wait much longer. McCreary has Raven and Shaw. One of them will break and fly that ship" Echo states. "You said Clarke was handling that" Octavia states resisting Echo's words. "She is. But I'd rather not let missiles tell us she's failed" Echo sighs and Nova nods her head. "What's left of the first batallion is ready" Miller reassures. "The commander's army is, too" Brell informs as Indra walks up.

"We're all the commander's army now" Indra states. "So, where's the commander?" Echo questions looking to Bellamy.

Nova, Octavia and Madi stand before Wonkru waiting for the signal to go to war. They hear a loud explosion in the distance and Madi and Nova looks to each other. "It worked" Madi says with a smile on her face while wearing the commanders pin on her forehead. "It so take us home" Nova says as Madi looks over to Octavia who nods her head. Madi turns around lifting her sword in the air before Wonkru. "Charge!" Madi shouts and all of Wonkru lift there weapons and begin to cheer and shout before rushing towards the valley.

Wonkru rushes to the valley and Nova is shocked at all the green surrounding her. She comes across a group of Diyoza's men and Wonkru guards point there weapons at them as they rush in. "Weapons down! Put your weapons down now" Bellamy orders and Diyoza's men drop to there knees.

"Kill them all" Madi orders and just before everyone pulls their triggers. "Halt! Hold your fire. They surrendered. It's over" Bellamy says looking down at Madi. "They killed hundreds of our people in that gorge" Madi argues and Nova looks down at her. "This can't be what the flame is telling you to do" Bellamy says and Madi scoffs. "I don't need the flame to tell me what to do with a bunch of criminals who invaded my home" Madi argues and Nova kneels down to her level.

"Madi, Madi. We were all the criminals once. The 100. We landed in someone else's home, and we went to war but you- You can be better than them. Be better than me. Clarke. All of us and give them a chance. The choice is yours, Heda" Nova states as she looks into the eyes of Madi who turns her head and looks at all the prisoners who have surrendered. All of a sudden a siren is heard over the loud speaker and Nova furrows her eyebrows looking around.

"Hey, What is that?" Nova asks pointing her sword at one of the prisoners. "The evac signal. It means conditions are unsafe. We're supposed to bug out" The man answers and Nova looks to Bellamy until Raven is heard on the radio.

"Everyone listen up. Life as we know it is about to end again. Get your asses to the transport ship now for immediate evacuation" Raven orders and Nova places her sword in her holster and looks to Octavia. Everyone even the prisoners begin evacuating to the transport ship. "Nova, come on" Octavia says as she grabs Nova's arm and starts dragging her towards the transport ship.

"Wait" Nova stops and sees Abby in the window of a building in the valley. "Abby... I'll get her and Kane. Get to the ship!" Octavia shouts as she rushes towards the building. Nova begins rushing towards the transport ship until a man steps in front of her. "You killed my brother in the fighting pits because he wouldn't fight. It's your turn" The man says as he kicks Nova in her stomach making her fall to the ground.

"You're gonna regret that" Nova says as she jumps back and whips out her sword and swings at the man quickly but he dodges every swing. "We can both get on that ship or only one of us" Nova states and the man shrugs and punches Nova in her face.

"Ah!" Nova shouts as she swings her sword cutting the man's arm. The man groans in pain and Nova pushes him up against a tree and stabs him in the stomach with her sword and move her sword around in his stomach.

"Looks like I get to go on the ship" Nova taunts, removing her sword and watching the man slide down the tree leaving a blood trail. Nova begins rushing through the woods to get to the transport ship immediately.

Nova sees the transport ship in the distance and starts running faster until she finally makes it and sees Clarke standing in the entrance way. "Nova! Nova!" Clarke shouts rushing towards her and helping her inside the ship.

"Clarke" Nova breathes out as her and Clarke look to each other. "I love you so much" Nova says as she wraps her arms around Clarke and feels her wrap her arms around her tightly.

"I love you too, Nova. Oh, I love you" Clarke admits and Nova pulls away from the hug and sends a smile Clarke's way.

"There!" Echo calls out and Nova and Clarke look in the distance and see Octavia, Abby and Kane on stretcher along with multiple Wonkru guards helping. They all begin rushing towards the group and Nova looks down at Kane who is being pulled towards the ship.

"What happened to Kane?" Bellamy asks as the wind picks up.

"Look, Mom, I didn't know" Clarke says as everyone runs with the group towards the ship. "You couldn't have. The mothership has an if I can get up there, I can save him" Abby states as she picks up the speed and is carrying Kane up to the ship with help when a loud boom is heard in the sky.

"What was that?" Nova asks looking up at the sky. "Sonic boom. It's close. We have to hurry. Get Kane onto the ship. We're right behind you. Go. Where are the others?" Bellamy asks. "Murphy was hit. We didn't have a stretcher for him, but they're coming. They have to be" Harper states as she emerges out of the fog.

"Monty, come in. Monty, do you read me?" Clarke asks while speaking into the radio waiting for a response. Nova helps Bellamy look around for Monty but sees no sign of them. "Uh, Guys? Look up. We can't wait. We have to close the door" Raven says as Clarke, Bellamy and Nova look up and see the missile coming straight down. Nova slowly begins to back into the ship and meets up with Clarke at the entrance.

"I'm waiting for them" Bellamy states and Nova sighs. "Bellamy. We can't wait!" Nova shouts.

"Bellamy, we have to go" Clarke states. "Clarke, you do what you have to. I am not leaving my friends. I can't do that again" Bellamy says not getting on the ship and Nova shakes her head breathing heavily.

"Clarke, we need to fire the engines. Close the door or I will" Raven says over the radio and Clarke looks to Bellamy. Nova grabs the radio out of Clarke's hands, "Raven we need more time" Nova says and hears Raven on the other line.

"There is no more time. Tell Bellamy to get in the damn ship" Raven says waiting for a response back.

"Clarke, I don't want to do this either, but I'm firing the thrusters" Raven says and Nova passes the radio back to Clarke.

"There they are!" Bellamy shouts as he runs towards Monty and Murphy and helps Monty carry an injured Murphy into the ship along with Emori. "Raven, they're in. Go for launch" Clarke says as she closes the door and holds Nova up against the wall as the ship shakes a bit from the missile being to close to landing on them.

"Are you okay?" Clarke asks and Nova nods her head. "Yeah, Yeah" Nova answers as she looks into Clarke's eyes and pushes her hair behind her ear.

Nova got cleaned up and got dressed into a tight black tank top, a pair of blue jeans and her boots and let her hair that had a few braids in it lay on her shoulders. She looked through the window of the ship and saw the last living place on earth disappear and get blown up. "It's gone, guys" Bellamy says as Nova sits down on a table and listens in on the conversation while the window behind Clarke and Bellamy close.

"Like our ancestors on the ark, we're the last of the human race" Bellamy speaks and Nova kicks her legs back and fourth looking to Clarke. "Our ancestors were wrong. We're not" Clarke says looking to Bellamy before locking eyes with Nova and watching a smile creep up on her lips. "412 people on this ship. Thanks to Madi, we saved who could be saved. Now it's our job to keep them alive. How do we do that?" Bellamy asks and everyone looks around at each other.

"Algae?" Raven questions and Murphy groans. "Oh, float me now" Murphy says and everyone lets out laughter before quieting down. "May I?" Shaw asks raising his hand and Bellamy nods his head letting him take over. "From what we know about the half-life of hythylodium, it'll be at least 10 years before that valley comes back, this ship does have a small water recycler and a few weeks' worth of rations, but that's it. Cryo is the only option. There are 500 pods, which is more than enough for what we need" Shaw explains and Nova furrows her eyebrows. "I agree with Shaw. The tech is amazing. We go to sleep, we don't age, we wake the next morning, It's 10 years later. And Bob's your uncle" Raven states and Nova nods her head slowly.

"So, we just sleep for 10 years?" Nova asks and Raven shrugs. "We literally just sleep" Raven states and Nova nods her head. "Well, It's up to Madi" Nova says and everyone moves their eyes towards Madi who looks around the room. "Okay. I guess it's time for bed" Madi says and smiles are seen across the room and everyone leaves the room and is taken into the cryo room to see the pods.

After a while some people were being put to sleep and Nova couldn't lie. She was scared. "Scared?" Octavia walks up and asks. "A little bit" Nova says letting out a chuckle before looking to Octavia. "Nova, It was an honor to lead beside you. I love you" Octavia says and Nova smiles pulling Octavia in for a hug. "You're my best friend.. I love you forever" Nova says as she hears Octavia quietly cry into her shoulder. "Goodnight Keket.." Octavia mumbles as she pulls away from the hug. "Goodnight blodreina" Nova says before Octavia walks away.

"I hope there's room for me" Clarke comes up slowly and Nova smiles as Clarke walks up to Nova. Nova places a hand on Clarke's cheek and slowly brings her in for a kiss. Clarke accepts the kiss and slowly pulls away from looking into Nova's eyes. "I love you.. And I'm sorry for everything. I wasn't myself" Nova says as a tear slides down her cheek but Clarke quickly wipes it away. "Things happen. You were fighting for your people. I have no reason to judge" Clarke says pushing Nova's hair behind her ear and kissing her one last time before she helps her into her Cryo bed.

"Goodnight Nova" Clarke says as she leans down and grabs Nova's hand in hers. "See you in 10 years?" Nova questions jokingly and Clarke chuckles shaking her head. "I hope so" Clarke sighs before Nova looks up at the ceiling and closes her eyes. Clarke presses the button and Nova is now sleeping for good. 10 years later she'll see Clarke again and she'll be back on the ground. Hopefully.
