chapter thirteen, I couldn't kill my sister

Nova begins walking beside Octavia while Kara and 2 more guards walked behind them. "You think they got the eye down?" Octavia and Nova sighs. "Lets ask them ourselves" Nova says as she opens the door to the room seeing Clarke, Bellamy, Monty and Harper all together. "Looks like a party I don't wanna be invited to. Did the spy did her job?" Nova asks looking around the room.

"Uh, we were just about to send for you. Told you Echo would get it done" Bellamy says and Nova can sense something is wrong but she ignores it and looks to Monty who's sitting by the computer. "Can the enemy still see us?" Nova asks and Monty answers quickly, "For now, yes. It's technical, but--" Monty stutters and Kara interrupts him as Octavia and Nova walk closer to Monty. "He has to run a loop to mask our troop movements. When the time comes, we need to clear the surface to reduce the risk of anyone noticing the same people moving in the same direction again and again" Kara states and Nova sighs placing a hand on Monty's shoulder and patting it. "Well done, Monty" Nova congratulates and looks to Octavia before sending her a nod.

"Load the worms into the rover and mobilize the army" Octavia orders and Kara and the two guards exit the room together. "War... is here" Nova says as she pats Monty's back making him lean forward a bit and let out a harsh cough.

After the worms were ready, Nova, Octavia, Madi, Kara and multiple other people in Wonkru gathered in Nova's office to talk about the plan. "Octavia speak" Nova orders and Octavia nods and begins her speech. "We know that there are three entry points to the valley. While Cooper, Madi and I soften the battlefield, Miller will lead the first batallion through the Southern tributary" Octavia restates the plan to everyone else. "First?" Miller questions furrowing his eyebrows in confusion.

"You have a problem with that?" Nova asks leaning forward on the table looking to Miller who shakes his head. "No, but the first batallion's Indra's" Miller replies making Nova and Octavia look to each other. "Not anymore. It's yours, no more questions" Nova states. "Alright. Madi, come here by me" Octavia says and everyone looks to Madi while Nova looks to Octavia. Once Madi comes and stands in between Nova and Octavia Nova clears her throat and forgets about it then looks over at Kara. "Kara, the floor is yours" Nova says as Kara nods her head and begins speaking.

"Worms are thermoreceptors. That means they sense body heat. With Madi's knowledge of the woods, we'll get as close to the village as we can and release them here, here, and here" Kara says pointing to places on the map and lands on a building that is drawn out like a church.

Nova and Octavia were in Nova's office alone after everyone left to get ready for war. "What's on your mind?" Octavia asks as she takes a seat across from her. "When we went to go see if the eye was down something was wrong. They looked scared or like they were planning something" Nova says as she taps her finger on the desk.

"I thought everything was fine-" Octavia says and just as she says that an alarm starts going off which confuses Nova and Octavia. Nova and Octavia rush out the office and are met with guards and Miller "What's going on?" Nova asks quickly. "It's something with the worms" Miller answers and Octavia and Nova start walking with the group until they reach the room where the worms were being held see Indra in the room holding the button for the alarm. Nova and Octavia walk right past her and see Kara lying on the ground with blood all over her body.

"I heard screams, but I was too late" Indra states as Nova and Octavia look down at Kara's body in shock. "There's a hole in her glove. Must have got in while she was loading them up" Miller answers and Nova balls up her fist squeezing them tightly before looking to Indra. "I'm sorry, Keket-- If I didn't use the gas and the worms escaped into the bunker--" Indra says and Nova raises her hand and Indra quiets down.

"It was the right call" Nova reassures and Indra sends her a nod. "Nova, I know this isn't a good time, but I feel it's my duty to point out that without the worms to soften the battllefield, the cost in lives will be too high. This is not a war we should fight" Indra states and Nova tilts her head looking Indra up and down analyzing her. After she analyzes her she lets out a few chuckles which shock Indra. "Oh, Seda. We weren't planning on using the worms. We are using their eggs. Whoever wanted to make this look like an accident, they didn't know that, either" Nova replies and Indra's face softens but you can tell she is shocked.

"Blodreina, Let's go find Clarke and Bellamy" Nova says looking over to Octavia who scoffs while looking at Indra. "Yes, ma'am" Octavia says before her and Nova leave the room with some guards and go to find Clark and Bellamy.

After awhile Nova and Octavia finally find Clarke and Bellamy in a room together. Miller and two other guards automatically draw their weapons on them. "Woah. Nova--" Clarke says and Nova and Clarke look into each other's eyes but Nova can't look weak. Although she is looking into the eyes of the girl she loves. Weakness equals death down here.

"Take her" Nova interrupts and Clarke's face falls into a confused one as Miller walks behind her and ties her wrist together. "You're under arrest for the murder of Kara Cooper" Miller states and Bellamy steps forward. "What? No. This is insane" Bellamy warns and Nova laughs while looking over at Bellamy. "Insane? We weren't taking the worms. The eggs are already loaded in the rover, so what was Cooper doing there?" Nova asks and Bellamy looks over at Clarke who shakes her head but Bellamy opens his mouth to talk and Nova pulls out her small blade and puts it too his neck. "Careful Bellamy, or I'll think you helped her, and we don't have enough prisoners to settle this in the arena" Nova says as she slowly removes the blade and looks around the room.

"Oh, well. I guess we'll have to settle for an execution" Nova says looking into Bellamy's eyes and it's official. Nova has gone crazy. "Let's go" Miller orders and starts dragging Clarke out. "Keep Madi safe. Promise me" Clarke begs as she looks to Bellamy who nods. "I promise" Bellamy says as Clarke is dragged out of the room.

After Clarke was put in a room, handcuffed to a bench. Octavia, Nova, Indra, Miller and some other guards sat in Nova's office and ate rations together. "All for me for all of us" Nova says before taking the first bite of the ration and passing it around. "What about the girl...Madi?" Miller asks and Nova sighs looking down at the table and can't help but not think of Clarke. "Um- She comes with us in the rover as planned. Once she finds out about it, the war will be over, and we'll deal with it then" Nova says as the ration comes her way again and she breaks a piece off and passes it around again.

"Sorry, Keket" A guard walks in with Bellamy and Nova rolls her eyes. "Let him in. Get some sleep. Tomorrow we ride" Nova says looking around the table and everyone gets up including Octavia and they leave the room. "What are you doing here?" Nova asks not turning around to face Bellamy. "Wanted to talk" Bellamy says as he takes a seat next to her.

"I can't let you kill Clarke because I know you don't want to kill Clarke" Bellamy states and Nova scoffs turning her head. "Um- My mom and I used to share our rations with Octavia. You mind?" Bellamy asks and Nova turns her head to look at him and looks down at his rations. "Fine-" Nova says putting her hand out before Bellamy takes a bite of the ration. "Omon Gon Oson" Bellamy says and Nova lifts her eyebrows as he passes her the ration. "Hm, Omon Gon Oson" Nova says as she grabs the ration and looks at it before taking a bite.

"You wanted to talk. So talk. But if you come to beg.. just do it" Nova says in between chews and looks to Bellamy. "I'm not here to beg. I came here to tell you that Clarke loves you, no matter what happens. And I know deep down you hated having her handcuffed and you hated the thought of having her executed" Bellamy says and Nova shakes her head slowly not wanting anything he said to be true but sadly it all was. Every single word.

"Get to the point already" Nova orders trying to be strong but she weirdly feels her throat starting to close up so she places a hand on her chest trying her hardest to breath. "I made a deal with Diyoza. If Wonkru surrenders, we can all live in the valley" Bellamy says and Nova furrows her eyebrows. "You what- Bellamy- Bellamy-" Nova calls out, her voice raspy as she stands to her feet and places a hand on Bellamy's shoulder. "I-I can't breathe" Nova says as she looks to Bellamy who doesn't even look concerned.

"No, Bellamy- What did you do?" Nova asks as a tear falls down her cheek. Nova and Bellamy never really got along over the years but she would have never thought he would try and kill her, not like this. "I dosed the bar with Monty's algae. I switched it with the one we were sharing" Bellamy replies as he stands up and holds Nova up. "Why?" Nova asks sadly as she looks to Bellamy.

"Because I couldn't kill my sister. You'll be okay" Bellamy says as he lays Nova on the guard watching her breathing slowly come to a stop. "I- I love Clarke and I never wanted to hurt her but- but I have to be strong... how could you?" Nova asks and Bellamy can feel the guilt creeping up on him.

"You forgot one thing Bellamy" Nova breathes out as a smile creeps up on her face. "Octavia becomes leader after I'm dead. You killed the wrong person" Nova let's out a few raspy laughs before she couldn't breath anymore and it came to a stop.
