chapter twenty-four, Hallucinations

PRESENT

The group snuck into a room so Jackson could patch up Murphy. "I guess now we know what the restraints were for" Bellamy says as he tightens the restraints on Emori's wrist while she's out unconscious. "How long will she be out?" Echo asks and Nova scoffs, "Let's hope forever" Nova mumbles while taking a seat in one of the chairs.

"The sedative in the tranq stick should last up to 3 hours" Jackson answers while he works on Murphy. "Hey, what about the mothership? They're gonna think it's us. How do we warn them?" Miller asks and Nova shrugs. "I don't think we can warn them. It's obvious radios don't work down here" Nova answers. "For now, we worry about ourselves. Murphy, are you okay?" Bellamy asks looking over to Murphy.

"His wounds are superficial. You're lucky" Jackson says eyeing Murphy who furrows his eyebrows in confusion. "I'm lucky? Sorry. Is that your professional diagnosis? Because if so, you suck at being a doctor" Murphy states and Nova rolls her eyes. "Murphy-" Echo calls out and Murphy whips his head towards her. "What? No. What? I'm dying to know what he thinks turned my girlfriend into the monster that just attacked me" Murphy says looking to Jackson who has no answers as of right now.

"It's all right here. 'For two days, heaven is hell, and friends become foes.' Whatever is in the air, it affects people, too" Clarke says as she reads a sentence from the children's book. "Why are the rest of us okay?" Miller asks and Clarke shrugs her shoulders, "I don't know, but according to this, it comes from the plants" Clarke answers and Murphy scoffs. "It's a children's book" Murphy informs rudely. "Yeah, the children's book that could save your psycho girlfriend" Nova states sending Murphy a fake tight lipped smile.

"Yeah, and the things in this book are coming true. When we were running from the bugs, Emori went down in the brush. It's probably why she lost it first" Clarke states and Bellamy looks over at Nova. "Nova went to help her. Think she's next?" Bellamy asks and Clarke and Nova lock eyes. "It's possible" Clarke says and Nova clears her throat.

"But we're all breathing it in. We'll all loose it, it's just a matter of when" Clarke states. "If it's the air out there, then we'll stay in here. We are gonna ride it out" Miller says and Murphy looks over at Miller. "That's a great plan, Miller. What happens when we're trapped in here and the rest of us lose our minds?" Murphy asks and Bellamy nods his head in agreement. "Murphy's right. There's more restraints in school. I'm guessing they're everywhere. We need to separate" Bellamy says and Echo raises her hand, "I'll stay with Emori".

"Fine, There's more than enough restraints in the school so Nova, Clarke and Murphy can come with me and Miller and Jackson can stay together" Bellamy states and Nova nods her head.

Clarke, Bellamy, Nova and Murphy went to the school that had lots of restraints in it and Nova locked herself in and took a seat in one of the small chairs while Murphy was trying to keep the air out. "It's pointless to do that. We've already breathed it in" Nova says. "Kinda like trying to survive by locking yourself up with the commander of death? And a girl who made a bunch of people call her goddess of darkness? Of course, you don't really need airborne toxins to turn on your friends, do you?" Murphy rants and Nova scoffs leaning her head back against the wall.

"Okay. Echo's with Emori. Jackson is with Miller upstairs. No one's armed. Now it's our turn. Gun" Bellamy says coming in and locking the door. Murphy walks over and hands Bellamy his gun then Bellamy walks over to Nova and puts his hand out. "Sword, knife" Bellamy asks and Nova hands Bellamy her sword and the two blades in her boots. Bellamy then puts Murphy in the restraints and Bellamy holds onto the keys. "Why do you get to keep everyone's keys?" Murphy asks and Bellamy sighs as he hands Clarke a key. "Relax. Clarke will have mine. Satisfied?" Bellamy asks as he locks himself up in the restraints.

" I guess so, as long as the people who live here don't come home after they kill everybody on the mothership" Murphy states and Nova rolls her eyes. "Grow up Murphy and stop whining" Nova says as she looks around the room and lets out a bored sigh.

After awhile the room was left in silence until Murphy began to talk. "God, I hate being tied up, yet somehow whenever I'm with you, sooner or later, we wind up here, don't we? I mean, first, you hanged me" Murphy says and Nova rolls her eyes. "First off, Bellamy did that. Second off, you should've stayed hung on that tree" Nova says locking eyes with Murphy. "Only after she forced Bellamy's hand, and who could forget Lexa? Yeah, I was tied up that night, too. Just a disposable pawn in your game" Murphy says and Nova shakes her head. "Stop blaming her for your messed up life. It's not her fault people don't like you" Nova argues and Murphy scoffs.

"It's not fair" Clarke shakes as her eyes begin getting watery. "Neither was tying up me and Emori in Becca's lab, but she was disposable, too, right? I know you remember that one, Clarke, because you drew a little picture of it in your memory book. Let me ask you a question. Did you draw a picture of Bellamy in the fighting pit, too?" Murphy taunts and Nova can't help but stand to her feet and rush towards Murphy. Murphy gets startled and slips out of his seat. "Ah!" Nova screams trying to break out of her restraints.

"Nova! Clam down" Clarke pleads and Nova breathes heavily. "Ah! Make it stop!" Nova screams as she looks around the room and reaches her leg out and kicks over a table making things fly around the room. "Ugh! Let me out! Let me out!" Nova screams as she continues to pull on he restraints.

"Ah! Make it stop!" Miller shouts and Clarke and Bellamy look to each other. "It's Miller" Clarke points out and Bellamy and Clarke stand to there feets. "You can't stop it! Argh!" Nova screams looking to Clarke as sweat beams off her face. "I gotta get up there now. Hand me my key now" Bellamy says and Clarke looks to Nova. "What about Nova?" Clarke asks and Bellamy sighs. "She'll have to wait it out" Bellamy says waiting for Clarke to hand him his key. Soon enough Clarke does but on one condition. "But I'm going with you. Throw me mine" Clarke says and Bellamy throws Clarke her key and they both unhook themselves and leave the room. "Hey! What about me?" Murphy asks as he looks over to Nova who is trying to leave her restraints.

"Oh god.." Murphy breathes out as Nova looks to him with a smile on her face. "Mmm. I need to get out" Nova says trying to rip the restraints off but it's no use. "Nova... Nova.." Nova hears and she looks around the room and turns around and sees Fio standing behind her. "Fio..." Nova says as steps towards Fio but when she does he vanishes. Nova looks around for him but can't find him. "No! No!" Nova screams and kicks her foot into the wall leaving a crack. "Nova..." She hears again and she looks and sees Fio kneeled beside her. "Stop fighting" Fio says and Nova tilts her head in confusion. "What?" Nova asks as she slides breathes heavily.

"You've already ruined the lives of many. So, just end it. End it all. The pain. The suffering and come be with me. My sister" Fio says and tears flood down Nova's face as she shakes her head. "I can't. I haven't changed yet" Nova says and Fio begins laughing hysterically. "There's no changing you! You're a monster! Goddess of darkness... remember?" Fio shouts and Nova let's out a loud scream and begins banging her body up against the wall. "Get out of my head! Get out! Ahhhh!" Nova screams and soon drops to her knees.

"I have a better idea" Nova hears and looks up and sees Iris standing before her. "What.. What.. It can't be your not real" Nova says trying to fight the urge. "You need to kill one person to end this lifetime of pain" Iris states and Nova swallows a large lump down her throat. "Clarke... Griffin" Iris whispers and Nova breathes heavily. "No.. Not Clarke.. I love her" Nova says and Iris begins laughing hysterically. "I loved you too then you killed me!" Iris screams and Nova shakes her head closing her eyes shut. "Get out! Ahhh!" Nova screams covering her heads.

"Nova! Hey! Nova!" Clarke calls out and Nova uncovers her ears and opens her eyes and looks at Clarke. "Where's Murphy? Nova! Where's Murphy?" Clarke asks and Nova shakes her head as tears slide down her cheeks. "Kill her.. It's the only way. Do it.. You've killed so many more people" Nova hears ringing through her ears and she can't help it. She bangs her head up against Clarke's face and makes Clarke fall backwards. "Ah!" Nova screams as she climbs on top of Clarke and begins hitting her.

"Nova! Stop!" Clarke begs and soon enough Clarke kicks Nova off of her, making Nova fall back on her back. "Run! Bellamy run!" Clarke shouts as she gets up and her and Bellamy rush out of the room. "You can't hide forever! Clarke! Ah!" Nova screams and continues to pull on her restraints roughly. Nova looks at her restraints and sees it's half way off the wall. Nova smiles and begins to pull harder and harder until the restraint is all the way off the wall. She looks over and sees her sword on the ground where the guns were and picks it up cutting the restraint off of her wrist.

"Clarke! Clarke Griffin!" Nova screams as she rushes out of the school building and sees Murphy and Bellamy fighting. "Now! Clarke! Do it!" Murphy screams and Nova looks in the direction Murphy is and sees Clarke hiding. Nova walks over to Clarke and stands in front of her. "Your fight is over!" Nova screams as she swings her sword over Clarke's head but Clarke drops the radio and ducks. "You can't run forever-" Nova says as she pushes Clarke to the ground. "Kill her. Watch the life leave her eyes" Iris whispers in Nova's ear and Nova looks down at Clarke who begins to run away.

"I cant let you kill me. I'll do it myself" Clarke screams and Nova walks towards her swinging her sword around her. "That wouldn't be fun for me would it?" Nova questions as she rushes towards Clarke and tackles her to the ground. "Ah!" Clarke screams as she moves her head out of the way before Nova can put it in her head. "Ugh! Get off!" Clarke shouts as she punches Nova in the nose and looks over and sees Bellamy drowning Murphy in the water.

"Here we go again" Bellamy shouts grabbing Nova's attention. "What did you do?" Clarke asks as she sits up and looks to Murphy in the water. "How many times have you tried to kill me now?" Bellamy asks stepping towards Clarke. Clarke pushes Bellamy away and stabs him in the leg making him drop to his knee. Clarke rushes over to Murphy in the water and drags him out. "I'll kill you!" Bellamy shouts as he manages to stand up. "No! She's mine!" Nova screams and kicks Bellamy in his back before he can get to close to Clarke. Nova walks over him but before she can get close her foot is grabbed and she falls on her stomach.

"You don't run things anymore! Not now Keket!" Bellamy shouts as he punches Nova in the face. "Ugh!" Nova groans and holds her bloody nose and watches Bellamy walk over and knock Clarke to the ground. "This time, you die, not me" Bellamy says as he wraps his hands around Clarke's neck making her not be able to breathe. "I said!" Nova shouts as she uses her sword to stand to her feet. "This kill!" Nova says as she limps over to Bellamy and Clarke.

"Is mine!" Nova screams and kicks Bellamy off Clarke making Clarke let out a few coughs. "Stop it! Nova! No!" Murphy screams as Nova holds her sword about Clarke and is ready to end her but Clarke manages to grab a smoke bomb and unleash it. Nova drops her sword to the side and falls limp to the ground which causes her to go
unconscious and everyone around her.
