𝟬𝟬𝟭, welcome to las encinas
𝟬𝟬𝟭, welcome to las encinas.
𝓡uby Alvaro was known as the richest bitch attending Las Encinas. So it was a bit of a shock to hear that she had been dating Ander Munoz, the son of the principal, for over three years. Ander happened to be the complete opposite of Ruby, a lot nicer to other people, his girlfriend barely acknowledging anyone outside of her small friend group. She had everyone wrapped around her perfectly manicured fingers. Perhaps, it ran in the family, since her sister Maria was the same.
Ander Munoz dared to chase after her. He had been in love with the brunette girl since the day they had met, back in kindergarten. Even at such a young age, she had this charm that was able to pull anyone in. Her aura was alluring, and everyone wanted to be around her.
Ruby was entitled, only hanging around kids deserving of her time. Ander didn't expect her to welcome him into her circle so openly, but surprisingly, she did. He always knew that there was something more to her than what meets the eye. As the years passed, they grew closer, and she reciprocated his feelings. Maybe she always had, but he was too afraid to ask.
Ruby made the first move on Ander, in sixth grade. She had a sleepover, with Carla and Lucrecia. Lu's baby brother had to come along, because his parents couldn't stand him, so Ruby opted to invite Ander and Guzman, as well as Polo, to give the boy some company.
They ended up playing spin the bottle, which was Ruby's plan. She spun the bottle right between Ander and Valerio, but Lu pushed the bottle so that it was pointing right at Ander. The girls winked at Ruby, while she pulled Ander to the closet to kiss him.
After that, the two spent all of their free time together, eventually becoming a couple. Although it took some time, Ruby started to be nicer to others that weren't in her friend group, which Ander was proud of. Even though she still had a dark side to her that would not go away so easily, she was glad Ander was in her life.
As their high school years started, the couple earned the title 'Las Encinas Sweethearts' because they had been together for so long. Carla and Polo were nominated second place, as they had been a couple for a few years as well. Lucrecia and Guzman confused the public, because they acted like a couple, but always denied the rumors of them actually being together.
Ruby used to think that she didn't need anyone. It was an old state of mind, which she had adapted when she was young, but it stuck with her throughout the years of her life. She had been taking care of herself and her little sister, Maria, ever since her father died and her mother decided to replace the growing void in her heart with credit cards, and expensive vacations.
So, Ruby Alváro decided that she didn't need anyone. If she could raise herself, and her younger sister, while her mother went to country after country, then she'd be fine. Ruby would've been okay with a mediocre life, because then she wouldn't have to worry about anyone else besides her sister and herself.
Ander Munoz was the one to change it all. He changed her mindset, and the way she viewed life. That's when Ruby decided that maybe she did need other people in her life— to fill that void in her broken heart. Her father's death become a distant memory, as Ruby learned to live on and let go of her problems.
Reality looked rather lonely, until Ruby Alvaro fell for Ander Munoz. Her summer was pretty simple, filled with faded wishes, and missing kisses from her boyfriend. He went on vacation with Guzman and Polo, even though Ruby begged him to stay. She couldn't stand being away from him for so long.
Once summer finally ended, Ruby was excited to start the new school year off with the love of her life. She got up to get dressed with a wide smile on her face. Ruby actually enjoyed school, since she basically did whatever she wanted and got away with it. This year they'd be getting the trophy she had been preparing all her miserable life for, so that she could finally get into an ivy league college, and be on with her life.
It was obvious that even without the trophy, Ruby could bat her eyelashes and bring up her mother's name to get into a nice college, but Ruby didn't like taking the easy way in life. She wanted to work hard for her own future, and not have it handed to her on a silver platter. That would make her out to be what everyone wanted her to be. . .that same spoiled, entitled rich bitch.
Ruby Alváro brushed her teeth and washed her face in a hurry. She didn't want to be late on the first day of school, or set a bad example for Maria. She pulled on her grey skirt to match her blazer, with her coat and purse. She then put on her shoes in a hurry, and walked towards her sister's room to wake her.
"Maria, get up. School starts in about thirty minutes. You don't need to be late on the first day." Ruby grabbed her sister by the legs, dragging her out of bed. Maria hit the floor with a loud thud, opening her eyes to spot her sister standing above her with a smirk. The youngest Alváro glared at her older sister, but got up anyways. She knew she had to go to school.
"You suck. I hope you know that." Maria groaned, walking into her private bathroom so that she could wash her face and brush her teeth. "Thanks. I love you too, sis." Ruby laughed at the extra glare her sister sent her, before making her way down the stairs to the kitchen. The chef was in the kitchen making breakfast, while their housemaid sat at the island with mail.
"Just got a letter from your school. You're touring the scholarship students again this year." The maid explained, with raised eyebrows. Ruby laughed at the woman's expression, taking the mail out of her hands. She went over the words, and nodded at them.
"I mean, it's the least I could do, right? Their school collapsed on them." Ruby tilted her head. Las Encinas was anything but generous. The only reason they accepted those poor kids was to look good in the papers. The offer was not a good deed, it was merely another way for the owners of the school to earn cash.
Ruby thought it'd be nice to give them a tour. After all, they were like, small animals being led right into the lions den. A couple of poor kids in a school full of stuck up, self-entitled pricks— they'd be lucky enough to survive the year without getting killed. Pablo Ruiz put a bad view on the poor at their school, it all started when he infected Marina Nunier. Not everyone knew, only a few people in their friend group.
Ruby got the truth out of Ander one night when they were alone, because something was obviously bothering him, and he couldn't hide it from her. Even though Ruby held a strong dislike for the Nunier girl, she felt bad for her and opted to keep her mouth shut. See, Marina and Ruby used to be good friends.
That was before Pablo Ruiz fell in love with Ruby, which drove Marina to say harsh words to her, and end their friendship out of pure jealousy. Ruby told Marina to go to hell, and that was the last time they ever spoke to each other. The brunette didn't miss Marina, because the girl was toxic, and a horrible friend to her.
Ruby found herself frowning at the distant memory. She hated thinking about it. "I'm ready. How do I look?" Mariá's voice echoed through the large house. Ruby and the housemaid turned to the girl, laughing as she twirled around in her grey skirt. Maria's in middle school, she'll be starting at Las Encinas soon.
"You look wonderful, dear. Now, hurry up and eat. You have about twenty minutes to get to school." The chef spoke warmly, startling the girls. She placed their plates down on the island, while both girls nodded and took seats. Ruby took her time eating, but Maria stuffed her face since she was excited to get to school.
"Slow down, you animal." Ruby whispered to her sister, Maria only rolled her eyes before continuing to eat. Once they both finished eating and washed their hands, the chef discarded of their plates, before checking to see if their driver was there. When she nodded, both girls waved at their house workers and made their way outside.
They stepped into the car, with Ruby sitting in the front seat, and Mariá sitting in the back. Ruby pulled out her phone and checked it to see a text message from her boyfriend. A smile enveloped her facial features, as she quickly responded to him. He was already at school, anxiously waiting for her to arrive.
Ruby couldn't wait to hug him— to kiss him. They had only been apart for a few months, but it was killing her. Especially, since she got attached to people really quickly. Besides, the boys didn't have service where they went so she didn't get to speak to him at all.
Maria was dropped off first, with Ruby being the last one to get to school. She thanked her driver, and stepped out of the car with a smile. Las Encinas, the school of the rich. Ruby would never get tired of this place. It's the school her parents attended in the past.
Ruby looked around in search of her boyfriend, but didn't see him anywhere in sight. She noticed the three new students standing at the entrance of the school, staring in awe. They looked like they had entered heaven on earth. A smile made its way to her face, and she walked forward to greet them.
"Hola, you're the new scholarship students, right? I'm giving you your tour later on." Ruby smiled at them, they'd need at least a few friendly faces here. Even if she wasn't the nicest person, she'd try to be nice to them on their first day here. It was common courtesy. Plus, the whole school would torture them.
"Hola, I'm Nadia. This is Samuel, and he's—" The girl with a hijab started to say, but the other boy that she didn't introduce stopped her. "Christian. My name's Christian. I'm single." He smirked, holding his hand out for Ruby to shake. The brunette shook his hand, even though she wanted to roll her eyes.
"Well, Christian, Nadia, and Samuel. Welcome to Las Encinas. Good luck, you're gonna need it." Ruby winked at them all, walking into the school. She could feel their watchful eyes on her, but didn't look back. The girl went to her locker and opened it.
She pulled out a few of her books, jumping in surprise when arms wrapped around her waist and a chin dropped on her shoulder. The faint scent of Ander's expensive cologne entered Ruby's nose, and she breathed it in with a smile. He always smelt nice.
"I've missed you, mi amor." Ander whispered in Ruby's ear, his hot breath fanning her neck. The warm sensation sent shivers down her spine, as his chest was flush against her back. Ruby could tell that Ander knew what he was doing to her, because he had done it before. This wasn't the first time. He always did this.
"I've missed you more than you can imagine, amor." Ruby responded, gulping as Ander placed a soft kiss to her exposed neck. He pulled away with an innocent smile, leaving Ruby breathless. "You are such a tease." The girl stated, rolling her eyes at Ander.
He teased her relentlessly and it never really bothered her before, but she was frustrated now. Especially, after being away from him for so long. Her heart hammered against her chest from even the slightest touch of his hands on her, and she couldn't stop thinking about the affect he had on her body. It was just a simple kiss to the neck, Ruby, calm down.
Ander looked down at his girlfriend with a smirk playing on his face. His index finger lightly pushed back a fallen strand of hair from her face, and he lightly traced her jawline with his fingers. The feeling of his cold rings, made heat rush to her cheeks. Even after all their years together, he still has that affect on her.
"Te amo, Ruby." Ander stated with a wide smile. Ruby grabbed his hand and placed a soft kiss to the skin, pulling him forward to walk to class with her. "Te amo, Ander." She smiled back at him.
They entered the classroom hand in hand, spotting their friends in their seats. Ander led Ruby to Guzman, and they talked while she waved at Carla and Polo, who seemed to be arguing about something. That was nothing new for the couple. They always argue about something, then make up a few hours later.
"What's up, guys? I'm Christian." The obnoxious guy from earlier walked in, a smile on his face. Nadia and Samuel followed him inside. Ruby lifted her eyebrows, but waved at them nonetheless.
"Look at this guy." Guzman held in his laugh. "Hi, there." Christian greeted the class, trying to sit down next to Guzman. That was a mistake. "Hello. Not there." Guzman shook his head at the new student. "Is it taken?" The boy asked, his eyes widening.
"By my invisible friend." Guzman nodded. "Oh, enjoy his company." Christian walked away, not even a bit bothered by Guzman's attitude. Ruby laughed quietly, moving to take her seat when she spotted the teacher, Martin, walking inside the classroom.
"Good morning, class. How is everybody doing today? Please sit down." Martin called out, while Ander took a seat next to his girlfriend. "Okay. So, as we all know, we have three new students with us today. Let's meet them." Martin pointed at the three.
"Christian Varela." The teacher called out. "Yes?" The boy looked surprised. From the looks of it, he couldn't speak proper English. Ruby almost felt bad for the cocky boy, since he couldn't have known that Las Encinas was a bilingual school.
"Do you want to introduce yourself to the class?" Martin asked simply. It looked like Nadia was whispering things to him so that he could understand. "Yes, uh, hello. Goodbye." Christian stood up, but sat back down when he realized he didn't know much English after all.
The whole entire class started to laugh at his simple introduction. "Okay, great." Martin gave him a weird look. "Thank you, Mr. Teacher." Christian answered back, while Ruby chuckled at his answer. He was quite funny, she would admit. Even if he wasn't trying to be.
"Mr. Teacher." Lu mocked him. "Nadia Shanaa." Martin called out next as Nadia stood up. "Hello, I'm Nadia. I'm 16. My family is from Palestine, but I was born here in Spain. When I finish my studies, I'd like to be professional diplomat in the United Nations." Nadia smiled, sitting back down in her seat.
"Wow. Impressive. You know, every year we choose our best student, and the trophy is rather ugly, but it allows you to study the next year at— who can tell me where?" Martin asked the class. Ruby raised her hand proudly, knowing she'd win that trophy.
"Ruby." Martin nodded at her. "At a school in Florida. Which gives you access to an Ivy League university." The girl answered, dropping her hand that was once raised with a smile. She laughed quietly, when Ander mocked her with his hands on his hips.
"How can you win?" Nadia asked. "Excelling in all activities, both curricular and extracurricular. The more extracurriculars, the better. Photography, chess, Chinese. Check out the list." Martin told her. Ruby bit her bottom lip, turning to Nadia. More competition. She already had Lu competing with her, now Nadia.
"Samuel Garcia." Martin called the last new student. He looked hesitant to speak up. "Hi, my name is Samuel. I've got the feeling anything I say will be used against me, so I'll remain silent." The boy answered. Ruby stared at him, but smiled. He's smart.
"How darling!" Lu laughed mockingly. "Don't be afraid. At this school, we teach values. Manners and respect are paramount. The leaders of tomorrow are at this school." Martin tried to console him. "I know. That's what I'm afraid of." Samuel answered calmly.
"What did the waiter say? He's talking to us." Guzman asked, while Carla and the others laughed. Ruby suddenly remembered where she had seen Samuel before. He was a waiter at their favorite restaurant. "Guys." Martin called out with a stern look.
"Sorry." Guzman apologized, but it clearly wasn't genuine. "All right. My name's Samuel, and I am, as your classmate said, a waiter. Strange as it may seem to you, sometimes waiters get a seat at the table. But you don't need to worry, I'm not here to take anybody's place. You are still the leaders of tomorrow." Samuel spoke sincerely. Ruby realized she liked him.
After everyone's introductions, Martin started the day's lesson. Ruby decided she wasn't in the mood to listen, so she rested her chin on her palm and turned to Ander with the slightest smile. He returned it, placing a kiss on her cheek when Martin wasn't looking.
She decided that all she needed was her boyfriend. He was enough to make her happy, he always would be, and she was glad to have him back.
