15 Years later...
Asriel sat at the window with his arm supporting his head, thinking. Watching the stalactites hanging from the roof of the cave, wishing to see clear blue skies instead. But he would never harm a child. Not after Chara... It still hurts thinking about her. 6 Human children have passed through, each guided by the royal guard. Papyrus was the leader, due to his wonderful friendliness charm. Everything was swell. If only dad didn't attack out of fear, they would be living on the surface still. They all seemed so nice. All of them were made sure to visit dad before exiting the underground, to show him that they did more help than harm. They all left their own gifts to help with something in the underground, big or small. Mom was given a home-made ribbon, Papyrus was given a bandana that he wears under his scarf, Temmie was given a ballet outfit, Alphys was given a pair of glasses and a notebook, Mettaton received an apron and a frying pan, Gaster had help constructing the core, and... Asriel froze. He reached down his shirt and pulled out a golden locket. "I won't... forget..." Asriel said, holding in tears.
"Asriel?" Asriel turned around swiftly to see his mom and dad. They knew what was happening.
"There, there. We all miss her... It's been a while." Comforted Asriel's mom, Toriel.
"But Son, we need you here. To rule the kingdom." Replied the old king.
Asriel sniffed. "I know..."
"Which is why we're here! We've brought good news." Said Toriel.
"Yes, lots! We've come to say that we've made an extension to the underground!"
"Oh?" Questioned Asriel.
"Our mining crew has found an entirely new cave! Monsters are moving right in."
"Oh, that's... good. I guess I should go and see it for myself. You need to get home anyways. It's a long way to the castle. And are you sure you don't want to move back in?"
"Oh, no. We are perfectly fine in the ruins. Aren't we, Asgore?"
"Yes, your mother is right. We like our home in the ruins."
"And it's worth the ride just to see you!" Toriel teased.
"Okay, mom. You should get going."
"Bye!" Chorused the parents.
"Bye..."
Asriel slid back on the window seat, in the same position again, and sighed. He sat and watched his parents leave all the way back to the ruins. He still didn't like the fact that the barrier was in the other room. He still had nightmares about humans passing through, breaking through the door and killing him in his sleep. He knew the only humans that would pass through would be the fallen humans. He wondered when the next one would fall...
"Sir!" Royal Guard 01 was waiting in the entrance. Asriel turned his head. "Your requested time for dinner?"
"Oh, yeah."
"Sir,"
"Yes?"
"May I ask why you are eating dinner at 3:00?"
"Well, when you're king, not much happens..." Asriel just noticed.
"Okay, sir. Dinner is ready downstairs."
"I'll be right down." Asriel stared out the window while Guard 01 slipped away. Why, out of everything else he can worry about, in the whole entire underground, could he only worry about Chara? Sometimes he wished he would just forget about her. But, somewhere, deep down, he knew that would be wrong. Asriel looked at the clock. 3:15. He'd stalled enough. Asriel finally got up, hardly ever, and slowly trudged through the castle. He never liked passing the Judgement Hall. It gave him this unnerving feeling. Probably because Sans always snuck up behind him. Asriel turned around.
