A metal tray of some sort clattered to the floor outside her door. Her eyes shot open. She grumbled as she pulled herself from the nest. She threw the door open and glared at the tiny Mudwing picking up the mess.
"What are you doing?" She growled.
"Eep! T-t-the q-queen want- wanted w-wa-water, " The servant peeped, stuttering over every word.
He looks too lean to be a Mudwing, his head isn't flat or broad enough, his tail was too thin. But he had the proper colors.
"I've never seen you before, what's your name," her talons clicked on the floor.
"B-beetle," the puny Mudwing stuttered, "I'm n-new,"
"I see," she gracefully arced her back, the umber ridges straightened.
"Can I get you anything, Your Highness?" Beetle's stutter disappeared and venomous words replaced it.
She tensed all her muscles. "No, you may retire to your quarters," She shut the door behind her swiftly.
That servant seemed off. He's not even the proper shape for a Mudwing. She pulled out her Nightwing's guide for the dragons of Pyrrhia. She studied the Mudwing picture by the moonlight filtering through the balcony. Now that I think about it his ears were too big. Oh well.
She slumped into her bed again. Hers eyes closed. She slipped into a deep sleep.
<She woke in a desert, the sweltering sun beat against her scales. She scanned the horizon. Shadows loomed in the distance. She licked her dry, parched jowls.
She stumbled towards the shadows. The scent of water faintly drifted from that direction. She tried to unfurl her wings. She couldn't. She craned her neck and saw a metallic silver bound her wings together. Okay. I'll just walk. No biggie. Right?
The shadows disappeared. She sprinted towards them. But a force pulled her back.
A Sandwing landed in the scorching sand. "Hello, Glade," It grinned.
She had dusty rose gold scales with scattered taupe scales resembling a Nightwing's pattern. Her venomous barb skirted over the top of the dune.
She ran but ended up tumbling down the dune. "Don't hurt me!" She screeched. The Sandwing loomed over top of her. A murderous glint in its onyx eyes.
She woke panting. Gray clouds covered the sun. She sighed. Just a nightmare. She stretched her cramped legs.
A bloodcurdling scream echoed in the hallway.
"The Queen is dead!"

I like the original. Jade Academy isn't complete quite yet.
