Rank Information
Kit: Kits are young cats aged between zero to six moons. They have no power in the Clan whatsoever and stay in the nursery with their mother. They are restricted from going into other dens and outside the camp as there are many dangers. They are also not allowed in the medicine den alone as they could eat an herb that could cause an illness or bellyache. They often hear stories from the elders. A kits name must always end with ‘-kit’ (i.e Bluekit, Tigerkit, Ivykit) and they are eager to become apprentices at the age of six moons. They are known to be mischievous and bother the warriors and elders.
Apprentices: An apprentice is a cat over six moons old who is in training to be a warrior. Their name must always end with ‘-paw’ (i.e Crookedpaw, Oakpaw, Snowpaw). Sometimes a cat has a more interest in medicine duties than warrior stuff and decide to become the medicine cat’s apprentice. They are taught but their mentor until they are told they are leader to be a warrior by their Clan leader or mentor.
Warriors: A warrior is an adult cat who feeds and protects the Clan. Their duties are extremely important to their Clan’s survival – and they have been taught how to hunt and fight by their mentors as ‘paws. Warriors can:
* Go on border and hunting patrols
* Mark borders
* Evict or chase out trespassers
* Stand guard and raise the alarm if the camp is invaded
* Protect the Clan from any event of attack
* Provide prey for the fresh-kill pile
* Mentor warrior apprentices
Medicine Cats: Medicine cats are wise and know a lot about herbs. They interpret signs from StarClan and receive prophecies and omens, in which they alert the Clan leader. Each full moon they go to the Moonpool/Moonstone to share tongues with StarClan. A medicine cat is not allowed to have a mate or cats as they can get in the way of their duties though this has been broken (i.e. Crowfeather and Leafpool). They treat any injuries and diseases. A medicine cat is expected to stand apart from Clan rivalry and isn’t expected to fight although they’ve received some battle training. Once they die their apprentice takes over their place.
Deputy: The deputy is second in charge of the Clan. They organise border and hunting patrols and tend to confer things with the leader. Once the leader dies the deputy takes over. They keep their warrior name until they become leader. When the leader is ill or unable to perform their duties, the deputy takes over and takes their place at Gatherings until they’ve recovered. A deputy must be a warrior, chosen by the Clan leader and at least have trained one apprentice.
Leader: The leader has the most power in the Clan. They have the suffix of ‘-star’ (i.e Leopardstar, Raggedstar, Heatherstar) and are responsible for everything that goes on in the Clan. They can accept alliances and choose if to go into a battle unless their Clan has already been invaded, in which they have no choice. A leader has nine lives granted by StarClan and will join their ancestors if they lose all nine.
Queen: A queen is a she-cat who is expecting/nursing kits. They can return to their warrior duties after their kits have been apprenticed or they can still remain a queen (i.e. Daisy). They care and look after their kits. They also keep their warrior name.
Elder: An elder is a retired warrior/medicine cat/deputy who can no longer carry on with their duties. An elder sits in the elder’s den, being looked after by their Clan. When in battle they must defend the nursery from their enemies. They often tell kits stories that (may) have been passed down from generation to generation to kits. An elder keeps their warrior name unless the leader changes it to something else that fits them instead of their old name.
