Demon Soul
Demon Spirits – entities born from human emotions and imagination. They are not the product of chance, but the result of fears, hatreds, and distorted desires beyond control. Those intense emotions crystallize into an independent life form, separating from humans to become the embodiment of the darkest things.
Akimoto Sanzu understands this better than anyone. That is why, when he received the mission to investigate Okino's disappearance, he immediately realized the presence of something that did not belong to the human world – the traces of Demon Spirits.
In the small cafe, Akimoto sat across from Hanako, Okino's best friend. The space was quiet, with only the whispers of other customers and the occasional stirring of a glass of water. Hanako bowed her head, her hands clutching the edge of her shirt, her shoulders shaking in anxiety.
Akimoto: "Hanako, I know you're scared, but if I want to save Okino, I need you to tell me everything you know."
Hanako raised her head, her eyes filled with sadness as she looked at Akimoto.
Hanako: "Okino... she's been very different lately. She often sits alone writing something in her notebook, refusing to share it with anyone. I asked her, but she just smiled sadly and shook her head."
Akimoto: "Is there anyone else involved? Is there someone who made her change like this?"
Hanako hesitated, her eyes evasive, but she finally spoke.
Hanako: "It's Kaito-sensei... Okino's homeroom teacher. I saw her arguing with him, but I didn't know why. After that, Okino became even quieter, as if she was hiding something terrible."
This made Akimoto frown.
Akimoto: "What did Kaito-sensei say to you?"
Hanako: "The teacher just said it was a misunderstanding and didn't want to say more. But... the look in his eyes, it made me feel uneasy."
When he returned to school that evening, Akimoto immediately went to Okino's classroom. The small room was dark, the weak light from the hallway lamp shining through the glass door created strange shadows on the wall.
On Okino's desk, a piece of paper with scribbled characters lay there neatly, as if waiting for him. The strange lines of the symbol on the paper made him feel a chill down his spine.
Akimoto (thinking): "The mark of the Demon Spirit. This is not just a random symbol... but the result of a distorted emotion, a hatred so deep that it created an independent entity."
He bent down, examining it carefully. The cold feeling transmitted from his fingertips confirmed his thoughts.
Akimoto (mumbling): "Okino didn't create this herself. This is a sign of manipulation. Someone has interfered in her life."
As Akimoto left the classroom, he heard a slight noise at the end of the hallway. Turning around, he saw Mr. Kaito standing there, his face hidden in the darkness.
Akimoto: "Mr. Kaito, you've finally appeared."
Mr. Kaito stepped out of the darkness, his eyes cold as he looked at Akimoto.
Kaito: "You're faster than I thought, Detective. But that doesn't change anything."
Akimoto: "Tell me. What did you do to Okino?"
Kaito laughed, his voice dry and full of sarcasm.
Kaito: "I didn't do anything. She created her own fate. Her fear, her despair, her hatred... all crystallized into me."
As soon as he finished speaking, Kaito's body began to change. His flesh split open, revealing red muscles and veins like boiling lava. Huge black wings sprouted from his back, and his eyes glowed like two hellfires.
Oni: "I am the embodiment of all the darkness that Okino dared not face. And now, I will destroy it all!"
Oni roared, its first punch collapsing the entire classroom wall, creating a resounding explosion. Its speed was so fast that only a sharp screech was left in the air.
Akimoto was calm, his eyes sharp and cold.
Akimoto: "You are fast, but not fast enough."
He raised his hand, activating the Dark Power. In 100 milliseconds, both he and Oni were pulled into another dimension.
The Dark Power Space was a strange place. Everything was frozen in an instant, as if time had stopped. Giant clocks hung in the dark sky, each second hand ticking once before stopping forever.
In this space, everything except Akimoto was motionless – time here did not exist.
Akimoto (thinking): "In this world, your speed and strength are meaningless. You can't feel, can't react. This is a place where only I am in control."
He pulled out the sword hidden in his sleeve, and in a flash, he rushed towards the Demon Soul. In the short 100 milliseconds, Akimoto had slashed thousands of times on its body.
When the Dark Ending ended, the Demon Soul groaned in pain. The cuts on its body glowed, then slowly dissipated like smoke.
Demon Soul: "You... are also a part of this world. One day, your emotions will give birth to another entity..."
It disappeared, leaving behind an empty space.
Akimoto sat down on a chair in the classroom, lit a cigarette, and watched the smoke rise.
Akimoto (thinking): "The Demon Soul is just the result. But the one who sows chaos in people's hearts is the most terrifying. Perhaps this is just the beginning."
He took a drag of his cigarette, the light flickering in his cold eyes. There was much more to this investigation.
