The professor was a middle-aged fat and short person who literally looked like a potato. His accent was strangely funny and the lecture was boring as hell. And you ask why I hate school!

As soon as the bell rang, my tired eyes searched for Ed who was sitting in the first seat. I saw him talking to that rude girl. I mean, I hated that girl! Why on earth is he talking to her?!?

Anyway, I waited for him to complete his talk and meet me. But what he did next, somewhat broke my heart. He walked out of the class with that girl and didn't even look back once at me. It's not that I need him by my side everytime but he'd never go anywhere without me. We were always together. We were that kind of best friends. But now, it seemed different.

Anger raged up in me. I grabbed my backpack and walked past them quickly. And you know what? Ed was so busy with her that he didn't even notice me!

I walked over to the canteen. The canteen smelled of cinnamon rolls and chocolate cupcakes and ofcourse, coffee. It cooled me down a bit. I ordered a cup of latte and a chocolate cupcake. I glanced at the people sitting in the canteen. I saw a cute couple sitting at the corner, a nerdy guy studying... yes, he was studying in a canteen. And there was big gang of many girly girls with short dresses and jerky guys with cigarettes. Unfortunately, there was not a single seat left for me to sit alone.

I took my food and went over to sit with that nerd. He didn't notice me. I mean, why is everyone ignoring me lately!?

"Hey! Can I sit here?" I asked.

He looked up for a second and slighlty said "yes". Seemed like a really shy guy!

"Thanks! Well, what's your name?" I asked him. I was getting the feeling that maybe I won't get a reply.

It took him a minute to take in the fact that I was actually asking him something.

"Um... Joey." He said without looking at me.

"Okay, Joey! Won't you ask mine?"

He kept his silence.

"Well, I'm Scarlett!"

He again said nothing. I rolled my  eyes and went on to eat my food. I offered him my food but he said no. At least he said something.

As I was taking my first bite, I heard someone calling my name.

"Scarlett??"

It was Ed.

"Hey! I'm sorry I left you alone. C'mon now, let's go!" He said.

"Hey Joey, do know him? Cos' I don't think I know this guy." I asked Joey just to piss off Ed.

Joey just looked at us both and stood up, making his way through the busy canteen. Maybe, he is really weird.

Ed took the seat in front of me and said, "I'm sorryy Skye! I'd never do it again, okay? And Amanda's not that rude at all... she was nice!"

"She's good for you, not me! I hate her. Is that clear?" I said.

"I've forgive you, now let's go!" I giggled.

"Haha... and yeah, I promise you, it'll never happen again!" He replied.

I thought he'll keep his promise, but I was wrong.
