Truth
You pivot out of the way, punching him in the jaw. He huffs, spinning about to kick you in the head. You lean backwards, grabbing his leg and slinging him over your head, slamming him into the platform. He catches himself, swinging his leg and tossing you away. You tumble over the ground and nearly into the wall of fire. You try to get back up but he grabs the back of your shirt, tossing you into the pedestal. You cough, body twitching as you try to tell it to move.
"I'm impressed, you lasted longer than any one that has seeked me out." He breathes, approaching you. He kneels beside you, sword blade resting against your neck. "Any last words?" He asks softly. So this was it. You weren't going to save anyone after all. You wouldn't be doing anything amazing. You were going to die here, with nothing to your name really.
Tears come to your eyes as you meet his gaze. "I'm sorry... I really did love fire..." You sniff. He pauses with a frown, removing the blade from your neck.
"And fire loves you." He sighs, picking your head up and kissing your forehead, making a rainbow colored flame envelope you. It wasn't hot, or anything. In fact it kind of felt like a soft breeze. Your injuries stop hurting and your strength returns. When he pulls back, the fire disappears.
"Why..." You murmur, starting to sit up.
"Fire's nature is to be careless and passionate." He sighs. "I got to see how you really felt about it today. I was in the wrong." He looks down with a frown before standing up. "You have your fire back. And your wounds are healed. Don't give me a reason to take it all back." He climbs onto the pedestal, reverting back into the egg.
"Thank you Pax. I'll do my best." You breathe, touching the egg briefly before starting for the bridge as the fire dies down finally. Law rushes over to you, stopping short as he looks you over in confusion. "So we made up... I think he just wanted some company." You put your hands on your hips.
"Really? Who knew fire could be so selfish.." Sabo murmurs, handing you your things.
"I knew. We just dont like being vocal about it." You toss him a wink, putting your cloak and necklace back on. You pause, looking at the locket for a moment. "Hold on." You breathe going back to Pax. You touch the gem to the egg. "Let's keep in touch. Maybe that'll keep you from being lonely." You breathe. There's a ripple over the surface and the locket glows briefly. "Dont miss me too much." You smirk as you walk away. There's a huff just before you're tripped.
'Dont get cocky.' He scolds.
"Look who's talking." You huff, getting back up, glancing at the guys as they chuckle.
"Sun's almost down." Drake says checking his watch. "We should find a safe place to camp, wouldn't want to risk running into a Shadewing."
"Yeah, but where can we go here?" Sabo frowns. You look between them confused.
"What's that? A type of dragon?" You ask.
"They're of the dragon family, but they're beasts of black magic and can turn themselves invisible." Sabo informs.
"And they're highly territorial." Drake nods. You look between them before spotting gramps. He tilts his head before changing into his ghostly dragon form.
"We'll find a place, lets go." You breathe, going past and to the platforms. The dragon waits for everyone to get on the platforms before taking off. "Follow him." You breathe to Dogtooth. He nods before taking off after it. "Guys, cloaks." You tell them, trying to put one over you and Dogtooth but nothing happens.
"I got it." Law says, hopping onto the platform and cloaking the both of you and the transport along with himself. You relax, watching after gramps as he weaves through the gorge expertly before landing in front of a stone door and disappearing. You hop off of the platform as the group reaches it.
"A door here? Does someone live here?" Law comments. You look at the door quietly for a moment.
"They did." You murmur, putting a hand on the door, making a spell circle appear on it before it slides open, the lights inside powering on. You step inside, looking at the living space within. It was larger than expected, the furniture was well preserved too.
"Wow, cozy... Would make a nice study." Law comments, looking around. You go over to a desk, looking at a journal that lay open on it, but the pages were blank.
"Who ever lived here must've been powerful to live amongst dragons." Dogtooth comments.
"I would like to vacation here." Drake mutters.
"So... No one's going to ask why Azmarr Dragnis just lead us through Dragon's Alley?" Sabo's question makes everyone pause. You swallow lightly at that, looking over at him as everyone else does.
"Are you sure that's who that was?" Drake inquires.
"I'm positive, I did a whole report on him." Sabo pulls out a pen, pointing it at the wall and making an image appear. "See? That's the last image of him before he was executed." He says. You blink at the picture, looking at his dignified stature, holding up his chin though he was beaten and cuffed.
"That is him... Why does he keep popping up? Think it's something to do with his prophecy?" Law folds his arms.
"... Too many questions for one day. I'm going to see if there's food in here." Dogtooth says before going deeper into the living space.
"Yeah, I'm tired and now my head is whirling... Think I'll go help him." You manage, following after Dogtooth. It doesn't take either of you long to find the small, out of control greenhouse.
"This'll work..." He says, closing the door after you both enter. "I'll take it your grandfather wasn't a fan of sweets?" He inquires. You shift, glancing back at him.
"I don't know... The food subject has never come up with him..." You admit quietly, making your way through the greenhouse.
"They'll put it together soon. In fact I believe your roommate already knows. What will you do?" He peers at you as you pick some fruit.
"I don't know. I've always planned to do everything on my own... but now..." You frown as clouds form above.
"There's a reason he had an army ___." He reminds you. You look at him and sigh, looking down as a light rain starts to fall. His brows furrow at your silence and he moves to your side, collecting the fruits you couldn't reach. "I don't know what kind of meal we can make with all this.. but it's better than nothing." He comments thoughtfully. You meet his gaze and smile lightly before heading out to the small kitchen with him. Everyone else was dumping the food they had brought on the table.
"Well.. This all looks good..." You smile lightly before looking around, "Where's Sabo?"
"He wondered off. I doubt he went far. This place isn't that big." Drake informs. You nod, grabbing some fruits before going to find your roommate.
You find him in a bedroom, looking at a photo. "She looks a lot like you." He murmurs. You move to his side, peering at the family picture.
"... I never seen her before.." You tilt your head, looking at the woman.
"I tried to find out more about her. But Asmarr's wife is a mystery. Perhaps she's still alive..."
"No. The Council killed her for being in relation with him..." You breathe, touching the picture. "That's why he started the rebellion." You murmur sadly. "My dad never got to meet her either... So I don't know the type of person she was." You frown.
"I can understand that. With the woman I loved was taken from me... I'd make them pay dearly." He says softly, but his tone still makes a chill go down your spine.
"I believe it. You'd be a terrifying opponent." You tilt your head. "Though I haven't seen you fight..." He blinks and gives you a small smile.
"Then you have faith in me after all." He comments. You frown at that, shoulders slumping. "I don't blame you for not telling me. You're carrying a lot on your shoulders. Still, it must be hard, and its okay to take time for yourself- to be happy." He returns your soft frown. You blink at him as your heart squeezes a bit. He wasn't mad that you didn't tell him. He was worried you were pushing yourself so much that you were unhappy.
"I don't deserve you..." You sniff, tears coming to your eyes. His eyes widen and he swiftly gets up, pulling you into a tight hug.
"Don't cry ___!" He breathes rubbing your back. He pulls back to wipe your tears, you just pout sadly and he pauses, holding your face in his hands. "I'm the one that doesn't deserve you... You're absolutely amazing, and I cherish you so much." He whispers, offering a small smile before kissing your forehead.
"I..." You couldn't make the words form so you just bury your face into his chest, hugging him. He smiles softly, hugging you close, resting his cheek against your head.
"Come on lets get some food and go to bed." He breathes.
"Okay..." You breathe following him to the kitchen.
"Hey guys, I found a dragon spell book. And check this out." Law holds up a picture. "Seems like Mr. Dracule has a ssecret." You blink leaning towards the picture. On it stood your gramps, someone with a striking resemblance to Mihawk, a crib between them and a small dragon on your grampa's shoulder.
"Zig and Noctis... He's so handsome..." You murmur.
"Azmarr's dwarf lightning dragon." Sabo breathes.
"You should eat some... We're about to have guests." Katakuri speaks up, making everyone look at him.
"So much for your foresight. Did you forget we're in Dragon's Alley?" Sabo scoffs. You pause, swiftly digging into the food. "___, you believe him?"
"Um... I'm sorry for them before hand." You wipe your face. They blink beforr looking toward the door as it lights up and slides open. Two familiar faces come in. "Hey mom... Dad... I see you got my letter..."
