Chapter Seven

--------------

Dedication: Highboymgc for the amazing cover! Thank you xx

Recap:

"Let's just get drunk," I suggested, pushing myself from the wall.

"I think we can manage that," she grinned.

Screw Casey. It was my right to have fun on my birthday.

And this time, I wasn't going to let him ruin it.

-----------------

The music was so loud, I could feel the vibrations under my feet.

I peered over to where a huge crowd was gathered in front of a stage. A lot of people were blind drunk already and a girl had been taken away in an ambulance after passing out from dehydration.

I hadn't gone to any of the stages yet. I was still working on getting as drunk as possible.

We were all sitting around on camp chairs, a fold-out table in front of us. We had been playing a series of drinking games, as none of the bands we wanted to see were playing yet and it was mainly just DJs getting the crowd hyped up.

This was the first time I had played any of these games, without Casey. It felt weird not being able to turn to him or single him out. It was just weird.

I don't think I'll ever get used to him not being here.

Taking another swig of my drink, I made a face. I had mixed my own drinks and it definitely was more alcohol than mixer. Which I had planned. Doesn't mean it tasted nice. My tongue felt dry, even though I was drinking the Malibu like it was water. I just wanted to forget for a while and let myself have fun.

The group consisted of myself, Marissa, Owen, Josh, a few of his mates whose names I can't remember and a couple other girls that Marissa is friends with. It was cool and casual. Everyone was just drinking and chilling out, which was nice. Somehow, I was actually enjoying myself.

"Okay," Owen suddenly boomed, his voice significantly louder than usual. "I need everyone's attention."

Not bothering to listen, I began reading a print-out someone had of the line up that was meant to be on for today. Looking at the names, I tried to think if I had actually heard any of their songs and if I had, I would attempt to make an effort to go see them.

"Er- Sadie?" someone said.

"Huh?" I asked, dragging my eyes from the paper.

Everyone was looking at me. Some of the guys were snickering and most of the girls were fighting off smiles.

"Well?" Owen asked, a hopeful smile on his face.

"I wasn't listening."

Josh snorted, causing Owen to glower at him. My eyes met Josh's and he shot me a grin. I stared back in confusion, obviously having missed something here.

"I asked if you would be my girlfriend," Owen declared. "There you go. Simple and straight forward - no race car or anything. What do you say?"

The groan that left my lips was loud and I had no control of it. Josh physically let out a laugh this time and Marissa just shook her head in bewilderment, clearly annoyed at Owen.

When was he going to learn to just leave me alone?

"For God Sake," I snapped. I rose to my feet and swayed slightly, not realising how drunk I had become. I stalked towards him, shoving my face close to his. I narrowed my eyes. "It's not cute anymore. It's annoying. Please, for the love of God, just leave me alone."

Owen's face fell and he genuinely looked hurt.

"Owen, mate," one of the guys said, clapping his back roughly. "How many times does a girl gotta' say no?"

Looking extremely dejected, he collapsed back on his chair with a huff. "I thought this time would be different."

Grabbing my drink, I stormed off. We were having a nice time. Why did he have to go be a dick? I'm so sick of every week, him asking me. Doesn't he get it?

"Hey," Josh said breathlessly, catching up to me. "You okay?"

"He's annoying."

"He is," he nodded. "I'm glad you didn't give in."

I gave him a sidelong glance as he grinned at me. My vision was considerably blurrier than it had been half an hour ago. When did I get drunk? I mustn't have noticed when I was sitting down.

"Want to go check out one of the DJs?" Josh suggested, giving me an adorable puppy-dog-eye look.

I shrugged. I guess that's what we were here for.

Swiping at my hand, he tugged me effortlessly behind him.

Splendour was spread out on a huge chunk of land, but with the amount of bodies now dominating it, it looked much smaller than it really was. There were people everywhere. The mosh-pits were so overcrowded that there was no chance, unless you were really good at weaving through the crowd, you'd get to the front line. Not that I wanted to anyway, but I have a feeling Marissa would want to.

It was only a few hours in and the fresh, green grass had already begun to be torn up. Half the ground was dirt and partly muddy already. I glanced down at my boots which were covered in dust. I silently thanked Marissa for coming up with the idea to wear boots. It was a smart choice.

Luckily, the weather was actually sunny. Last year it rained the whole first day, turning the grass into mud. That wouldn't have been nice, although Casey somehow would have made it fun, I'm sure.

I stumbled after Josh as he pulled me through the sweaty bodies, until we were somewhere in the middle. We couldn't go any further as the bodies in front were so tightly bound together. And there was some guy doing death circles and punching the air. Knowing my luck, he'd get me in the face.

Josh began jumping to the music and I stared at him, not feeling quite the same level of enthusiasm he was. I began slightly swaying. He turned, gripping my hand in his. He moved closer and our chests bumped. He grinned down at me.

The music was blaring in my ears, but I still heard him. "I'm really glad you came."

Just giving him a small smile in return, I began moving my body to the music. His eyes lit up slightly as I moved closer, running my hands down the side of his body. He gripped my face, planting a kiss on my cheek. He eyes roamed hungrily over my body. This was the first time he would have seen it semi-exposed. The play suit clung to my curves dangerously. I usually wore a thick jacket or coat, covering my body.

This time, I was showing it off. He clearly liked what he saw.

Josh stepped back, but his forehead remained connected to mine, as he began looking for something in his pocket. Our noses brushed and I could feel his hot breath fanning my face.

He pulled out two pills.

Swallowing uneasily, I stared into his hands. I'd never taken anything like that before. Casey would have killed me at just suggesting taking one, let alone actually doing it.

Never removing his eyes from mine, he popped the pill into his mouth and swallowed it easily. My lips parted as I stared at him, like I was in a trance. He smiled, moving closer to me. My thoughts were stuck. I didn't move away. I was very against drugs, about two years ago.

Now, nothing mattered to me.

He popped the next pill in between his lips. Slowly, he leaned down, pressing his lips to mine. I gasped slightly, my mouth widening. I felt the pill slip from his lips, onto my tongue. Without thinking, I swallowed it back.

His lips moved against mine, his hands slowly running down my back. He rested them on my backside, giving it a tight squeeze. He nibbled at my lip and I allowed him entrance, his tongue claiming mine.

My eyes automatically closed.

Someone bumped into us, but we didn't fall apart. He gripped me tighter. I actually felt safe in his arms. It was nice. We stayed there, hooking up for what felt like eternity. The music pounding in my ears drowned out and the world faded. It was just me and him.

This was how it felt with Casey, but my whole body would be engulfed with flames of desire. A cry left my lips as I was shoved forward. I fell, landing painfully on my arm. Josh swooped down and pulled me to my feet. My head flopped and I stumbled back into him. The crowd had gotten bigger. My head felt light.

I couldn't stop blinking. It was like I had a nervous twitch.

Josh was back to dancing beside me and jumping in all different directions. I inhaled a deep breath, letting the music seep into my muscles. I began letting myself go and dancing alongside Josh, feeling the best I had in a long time.

I felt jittery. I couldn't stand still. The twitch had become more prominent.

Josh and I would dance for a while, before he would turn to me and we would be passionately making out in the mosh-pit again. Josh kept talking to me, but his mouth was moving, but no words met my ears. That may be because my ears were actually ringing.

Or was there a train nearby?

Suddenly, I gripped Josh's hand and dived forward into the crowd, roughly pushing people out of the way. A hysterical laugh met my ears as I threw my head back. I felt detached from my own body. It was like I was watching myself pull Josh behind me. Everything felt so surreal.

Suddenly feeling spontaneous, I turned and smashed my lips roughly to Josh's. He staggered back, running into someone. They didn't even notice as their eyes were huge and their mouth dangling open.

I pushed Josh down and awkwardly began climbing onto him. He hoisted me up and I got a huge head rush as he stood.

"Woah," I breathed, as Josh swayed.

My legs were clamped around his shoulders. I gazed at the mass of bodies beneath me. A few people, who were also on the shoulders of others, cheered at me and waved, like I'd just joined their group or something. For reasons I'm not sure of, I waved back. I grinned and my mouth felt misplaced on my face. Like it wasn't supposed to be there.

I began twitching, trying to move my mouth. I began clutching at my face, wanting to wipe it off. A scream left my lips as I punched myself. I fell back and hit the ground roughly, my head pummeling into the ground. I gasped, feeling dirt on my lips.

"Sadie!" Josh croaked, grabbing me.

I let him pull me up. I stared around in a daze. A girl asked me if I was okay. I stumbled to the left and Josh gripped my waist, which kept me from falling over.

I closed my eyes, my head spinning. I felt so weird. Like my mind wasn't apart of me. When I reopened my eyes, I stiffened.

How...?

Casey's eyes weren't on my face. They were on the hands of Josh, which were tightly holding me. His face crumpled. Tears burned at my eyes.

No... He couldn't see me like this. Not with Josh.

Rushing forward, I tried to get to him.

He stepped back, shaking his head. I stared at him, confused. Why didn't he want to see me? It had been so long.

Running again, I reached out and ran face first into someone's back.

"Back off, bitch!" A girl snapped, shoving me to the side, obviously thinking I was trying to push in front of her or something.

Firmly ignoring her, I scanned the crowd, trying to see where Casey went.

He was walking away. His steps were unhurried and casual as he left me again. A ragged scream tore from my throat as I sprinted, weaving through the crowd, trying to reach him. I needed to touch him.

"CASEY!" I screamed.

Finally getting close to him, I gripped his arm. His skin felt hot and sweaty. My hands slipped. I gripped him harder. He turned.

"Casey," I breathed, staring up at him.

The eyes I met were unfamiliar. I blinked, confused. The boy stared down at me, his forehead wrinkled.

"Sorry?" he asked, glancing down at my hand which was clutching him.

I stepped back, shaking my head, feeling disorientated.

He shrugged, giving me an odd look, before turning back. I spun on the spot, trying to search for Casey.

Vaguely in the distance, I realised that the music tempo had increased. Everyone began jumping and leaping. I cried out in frustration, trying to look through people to see him.

Where did he go?

Why didn't he want to see me?

Just as I stepped forward, something hard hit my head. I collapsed to the ground, feeling dizzy. I shook my head, attempting to get back onto my feet. I howled in pain as a girl stepped back onto my hand. She tripped, half landing on me.

It all happened so fast.

Someone stood on my back and another person kicked my head. My face smooshed into the grass and I couldn't breathe. After feeling someone's foot connect with me again, my vision began to darken.

Letting my body sag, I closed my eyes, being enveloped into darkness.

--------------

Does anyone think Casey might actually have been there? Or was it just the drug affecting Sadie?

Also, how do you feel about Josh now? Any different?

Comment what you think!
