When I opened my eyes the next morning Harley was unlocking my cell door. He put the heavy cuffs on my hands and walked me out.

I ignored the everyone as I walked down the hallway, I was lost in my thoughts trying to comprehend if what happened last night was a dream or reality.

As we walked into the torture room I seen Doctor Devi cleaning the blood off of his tools. He smiled as he seen me enter, "Eren, come in my dear boy."

Harley strapped me to the chair and left out leaving me once again with Devi, the insane maniac.

He kept smiling his hysterical smile and took out a needle from off the table along with a veil with purple liquid, he used it on me before it was similar to needles seeing that it was something  that simulated unbearable pain. It was used in experiments in order to measure a person's response to certain levels of pain, the more injections the more lethal and painful the liquid became.

He put the liquid into the needle's syringe and walked towards me, I was scared, since I can regenerate, with the needle Harley gives me, Devi's trials can go on forever and therefore the pain never stopped. I wished I hasn't been dreaming last night maybe a power like making fire out of nothing would be helpful in this situation.

He took my arm and placed the needle point on my forearm. I felt adrenaline pumping through my veins as my heart began to pump faster and faster. I had to stop him I had too...suddenly Devi yelped in pain and jumped back, dropping the needle to the ground. "The hell..." I heard his voice but his mouth didn't move.

He looked at me in shock, which was the first time I seen him this way, "You..." I wiped the smirk off my face that I didn't even realize I had, truthfully I was happy that I finally got the chance to cause Devi pain and not the other way around.

I looked at the restraints on my wrist and tried to burn them off, I could see the smoke coming from it but it didn't really burn per say.

I heard Devi laughing hysterically, "FASCINATING!" He laughed and laughed, "Finally, you have awakened to your powers Eren." He stopped and looked at me, "You are truly a stunning work of art Eren Raid just like she was." I seen scratches on Devi's arm and hands that I didn't notice before, "You can hear me can't you?" I looked up to see him not moving his mouth at all as he said that, was I reading his thoughts? "I must get the boss in here quickly." He exited the room with quick haste. I yanked at the restraints but it was no use.

When Devi returned he was with Mr.Shawl. "Yes his body temperature has reached insane levels according to the burn its estimately about 500 degrees within 25 seconds of fear stimulation that just proves my methods are working."

"Nice work Doctor." Mr.Shawl looked at me, my heart started beating faster and a fire circle surrounded my chair. 

Mr.Shawl fell back in surprise, I looked up at them "Stay away..." I was in control now and I wasn't going to let myself get tortured again.

"The hell, Damon stop him NOW!" Mr.Shawl hollered.

"I prefer Devi sir and of course, your will is my command." Devi ran off somewhere but I couldn't see him through the raging fire that surrounded me, suddenly the sprinklers over head came on and put out the flames and before I knew it a needle was plunged into my neck and I began to feel woozy.

I woke up back at my cell, it was freezing cold. When I looked around I noticed that I had been chained to the wall. I pulled at it trying to break free, trying to burn the metal but nothing seemed to work, "LET ME OUT! I DON'T BELONG HERE!" Emotions began to build up and I just kept screaming.

"Hey mind quieting your pointless screaming down, some of us are still trying to keep our sanity."

I stopped and looked around, "Who said that?"

"This screen may be one sided but that doesn't mean its soundproof, i'm James, the guy right across from you." I remembered seeing him, dark skinned, small afro, scraggly beard. He didn't talk or scream so he wasn't really noticed. "You'll see to it that you keep your sanity its the only thing separating you from them."

I crawled towards the door but was stopped by the chains, "Why are we here?" I asked impatiently, "where are we?"

"You don't know huh?" I heard him snicker, "Seems fit that when you enter a world like this you try to forget anything other then living."

"Tell me where I am." I said again.

After a short moment of silence he spoke, "Your in CrossField insane asylum, except it's not a asylum for crazy and mentally unstable people its a asylum for special people."

"Special people?"

"Yup and according to what I heard your one of em, the next age of evolution."

"You aren't making sense."

He sighed, "This facility is for people who have powers, the people who built this place and are funding it believe the anomaly in so called "crazy people" are side effects from a mental flaw and allows you to create supernatural acts they believe you are the next stage of human evolution and the more they understand the way your mind works the more they can recreate it in humans everywhere."

"Why would they want to do that?"

"Heck if I know..." James sighed, "And if being the next stage of human evolution isn't bad enough you got Devi to make having powers seem like a endless curse."

"To think just one abnormal in a human mind can cause us to achieve this much power."

"Don't look too much into it we're still trapped here, some of us don't even have powers."

I felt like I was gaining my sanity by talking to another human being but I still felt like my mind was screwed. "So what's your story?"

"Believe it or not I used to work with Doctor Devi, he was a doctor and a scientist, he studied the nervous system, I was his partner. Little did I know Damon had a crazy side, a split personality that loved to see people in pain its probably why he studied the nerves in the first place."

"Wait so why are you here?"

"He created the pain serum, that purple veil was all him I just helped. When we went to test it one day he kinda went overboard and ended up killing 5 patients purposely most likely. If you had met Damon in a normal environment you would of thought he was normal but he was a sadist to the core. Anyway we had a best friend bond and when the boss asked what happened I took the blame, if I hadn't his whole work would of been discontinued and the funding for our research would of been shut down." There was a moment of silence, "The people said that the patients deaths was work of a complete sicko and I was brought here."

"What did Devi say when he saw you here?"

"He claims that he doesn't remember; the incident, the project, or me."

"Really?"

"Don't blame him though what's done is done."

I sat in silence for awhile, unable to think of what to say. "Hey James."

"Yeah?"

"Do you know who this girl Mia is?"

"Yeah Mia Edwards, she's the only other person with powers besides you. She has to be tightly monitored and restrained because of her uncontrollable powers and determination to escape, word is she's been here since she was 4 all I know is that she's been here before me and that was about 5 years ago."

"What's...her story?"

"No one knows she never speaks, not even screams exit her mouth. She's pretty much the toughest person here."

Mia Edwards, wasn't she the person I seen in the stray jacket and with guards following her. I remembered reading Devi's sinister thoughts and began wondering if she could do the same. "How do they contain her?"

"I don't know her power but Devi got beat up a lot by her, they have some special cell for her one that limits her powers just enough to keep her from getting out of her restraints or escaping." James laughed, "So Eren how does it feel to be the future of evolution, trapped like a animal and tortured on a daily?"

"Why am I like this?"

"Only God knows i'm afraid."

"BULLSHIT!" I pulled at my chains and began to cry, "My parents died because of this shit and now i'm here alone with no hope, I mean what's the point of surviving if there's nothing left to live for!"

"Eren calm down."

"No I'm sick of being tortured,i'm sick of the pain, i'm sick of the sadness, I'm sick of this cell!" Fire circled around me like a hurricane.

"You can't change faith Eren..."

"Then I'll just change reality!" The fire raged larger as it spread through my cell.

You can create change, you are stronger then you realize. We can escape together...I can free you from your pain...

I could feel a dark presence consume me as if my dark insane side was standing over me controlling my uncontrollable flames, the worse part about it though...was that I actually enjoyed it.

"Eren you have to stop this you've gone mad!" I looked up slowly, who's Eren?

"I am not mad, I am madness..." The chains that tied me to the wall broke like a twig and I stood to my feet.

This is human evolution, this is who I became, they wanted me to awaken to my power and now I did and I planned to use it to survive, to find my purpose, to escape this hell and see the sun again even if it meant losing myself along the way. To live is to be devoured, to devour is to become this is my destiny and I accept it, this is who I am... I am madness.
