Chapter 2

... ~"Come to me."~...

"H-hmm?"

Shizui woke up from his slumber upon hearing a soft, almost melodical voice. Once his fully awake, he saw there was no one in his room, he then heard the voice calling again but from the other side of his bedroom door. Curious to know who is calling and who is the person calling for at these hours, he got out of bed and slightly opened the door to peak, but no one was there. He fully opened the door and stepped outside and noticed that it was still dark, he turned to go back to sleep but as he turned, he jumped as his eyes connected with another pair. A bit aways from him was a small glowing bird on the fence, it almost looked like the mythological creature he read in a book once, the Fèng Huáng (Chinese Phoenix)...

It glowed a bright white light blue and looked as if it were made of flames, white flames perhaps. He didn't quite know and he thought he was dreaming as the mythical bird stared at him, he even pinched himself to wake up, but he kept seeing it. After giving in, he gulped and took a step forward, this made the bird perk up. Shizui slowly approached the bird as the creature remained calm with no signs of fear. When close enough, he slowly reached out and softly petted the creature and it "purred" at his soft touch on its head, this made him smile. The bird was dramatically softer than it looked, Shizui didn't even want to stop petting it; it was even softer than the rabbits which was a huge surprise for him. Unfortunately, the bird then slowly (as to not scare Shizui) took a few baby steps away from him on the fence and then flew a bit aways from him until it stopped on the same row of the fence and looked at him...

~"Come to me"~

Shizui's eyes widen when he heard the voice again, the voice seeming to echo around him. Could it be the bird that's calling him? Suddenly, he felt the need to follow it, so without caring where the bird would lead him, he followed. The nearer he got towards his unknown destination, the more he hears that voice, he felt as if he was under some kind of spell as the need to follow the voice grew more with each step.

~"Come to me."~

~"Tear of fire."~

~"Come to me."~

Without recognizing it, Lan Shizui came upon a solid wooden door, big and heavy, but not enough to stop Shizui from opening it alone as he saw how the bird passed through it as if it were a ghost. Drowned in pure curiosity, he opened the thick door and gasped when knowing where the bird led him, the bird chirped and called to him in it's bird language while resting on the top handle of Crystal Heart. Lan Shizui shook in fear, looking in and out of the room in hopes that he was truly alone. He knew he was going to be in HUGE trouble if someone were to find him here, his punishment would be so brutal, he might even be kicked out of the Clan. Anyone would call him dramatic when thinking this, but with how emotionally unstable Zewu Jun is at the moment, especially with how overprotective he is with the sword; no doubt he'll be kicked out of the Clan after getting heaven knows how many hits or punishments. He grew scared of the ideas that would pop nonstop in his head and planned to leave-

Lan Zhēn(?): ~"Come to me."~

He froze. He slowly turns towards the sword with glossy eyes, confusion and shock washed on his features. Shaking, he gently closed the door behind him and walked towards the glowing sword. As he got near, the sword lowered so the handle could be reachable for him and the bird flew around both him and the sword as if waiting for something to happen, but as his hand neared... His finger was on top of the handle...

*Shing*

Lan Shizui: "*painful grunt/hissing*!"

In seconds, the jewel that was at the end of the handle turned into a sharp needle and prickled his finger in high speed. Shizui quickly stepped back from the sudden burning pain, but when he looked up, he saw how a drop of his blood stayed a float un top of the sword. The blood then turned to flames, his eyes reflecting the flame in front of him...

~"Tear of fire."~

After that was whispered, the bird stood on the handle as the "tear of fire" dropped on the bird's head. This caused the white bird to expand its now red flaming wings with a strong "caw" coming from it. The bird was fiery red and orange, and was almost half his size now. After its mighty "caw", the sword glowed, consuming the entire room with it's bright light; the reaction of the sword made the ground shake violently, waking up everyone in the process. When it stopped glowing, Lan Shizui uncovered his eyes and noticed the bird was missing. Something that caught his eyes that was immensely shocking, was in how the Ruby on the sword glowed a bright red. He stood up and walked towards it to further investigate it and saw that it wasn't cracked anymore, he reached out his hand to touch the Ruby-

"Lan Shizui!"

He whipped around with a gasp, and saw a fuming (and heavy breathing) Lan Xichen. Shizui was very scared right now and of what was going to happen. Everyone soon gathered inside the room, the location where the energy pulse came from.

Lan Xichen (serious/angry): "How dare you enter this room and disturb the sword. Have you no shame?"

Lan Shizui stuttered a bit, not finding the words to explain what happened, he was too scared to think of any words in general.

Lan Shizui (scared): "Z-z-Zewu J-Jun-"

Lan Xichen (angry): "Silence! Step away from the sword this instant!"

Lan Shizui trembled and shook as he lowered his head and walked towards his Master. Wei Wuxian's eyes went from the boy to Lan Xichen then to the boy again and slightly gasped, he ran towards Shizui who was half way towards Lan Xichen (between Xichen and the sword) and held him as he faced at the angry man.

Wei Wuxian (slight panic): "N-Now Clan Leader Lan. Where did your merciful soul went? Why don't we hear what Shizui has to stay? *Perks up* Who knows?! Maybe he saw something strange on the sword o-or in this room! Who knows, right? So please, let's hear what he's got to say."

Lan Xichen sharply exhaled and gave a nod. Wei Wuxian then stepped back as Lan Wangji stepped a bit forward, so now they were both side by side a bit far from Shizui as the said boy shook a little. Lan Shizui didn't even know where to begin, he was so scared, embarrassed, and humiliated that his mind wasn't coming up with words except...

Lan Shizui (scared): "I-I heard Z-Zhēn an-"

Lan Xichen (disappointment): "Don't say her name. Why would you even need to say it? It's completely unnecessary!"

Lan Shizui (scared/worried): "B-but-"

He said while pointing at the sword, but Lan Xichen didn't listen. Lan Shizui was right when he thought of how sensitive his Master was, so he didn't know why he was so shocked with his Master's following words.

Lan Xichen (angry): "Lan Shizui! Either explain now the reason why you entered this room, or I'll be forced to kick you out of the Clan!"

Everyone gasped. Unlike Shizui, they were all surprised from Lan Xichen sudden cold words as the man glared intensively at the boy, this truly wasn't the Lan Clan Master they know. Wangji quickly walked towards his brother in shock.

Lan Wangji (shocked): "Xiongzhang-"

Lan Xichen (stern): "Step back Wangji."

Lan Xichen didn't even turn to look at his brother as Lan Wangji clearly didn't want such decision to be made. Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian looked worriedly towards the boy, urging him with their eyes for him to quickly explain, but when Shizui opened his mouth to speak...

Nie Huisang (shocked): "Everyone... *Catches their attention* The sword... *Points at the sword*- The Ruby... It's fixed..."

Everyone took a closer look at the sword and their eyes widened upon seeing it for themselves that the Ruby was in fact fixed.

The sword then started doing notes, musical notes. Instantly knowing what they were, Lan Wangji made his Guqin appear and asked/played "Who are you?", the strings then responded...

Lan Wangji (shocked): "She's answering."

Wei Wuxian (eager): "What did she say?"

Lan Wangji (still shocked): "Crystal Heart."

Everyone gasped at this, a few even took a step back. Lan Xichen was also shocked over how the sword was actually responding after all this time.

Wei Wuxian (eager): "Quickly! Ask her what happened."

Wei Wuxian urged Lan Wangji, but before the man could even move a finger, the sword spoke through the Guqin (Wangji translated).

Crystal Hearts: ~"Shall it be more comfortable through notes? Or personally?"~

Lan Wangji looked at his brother for the answer, Lan Xichen nodded in approval.

Lan Wangji: ~"Personally please."~

After this being played, Crystal Heart's glow stopped beating for a second, it then suddenly glowed brightly and the glow diminished as a small glowing orb softly floated out of the sword and was little by little taking the shape of a human. Everyone gasped from the sword's human appearance.

Lan Xichen (shocked/emotional): "Z-Zhēn?"

The glowing person remained afloat as it took the shape of Lan Zhēn. Her eyes glowed a gentle white and her headband was replaced with a simple silver Forehead Diadem with the 5 jewels of the sword crested on it, her chest had a glow that would appear and disappear continuously as if it were a beating heart, her clothes were a thin and extremely long white gown with a few flowy layers, most of them with beautiful patterns of the elements of nature; and despite the clothing material looking thin, it covered her body nicely as if they were thick. Lastly, her hair was longer and floated as if it were under water; the white of her hair glowed along with her skin, but not as much as the glow on her chest. In conclusion, she looked like a glowing ghost, but looked more magical rather than frightening.

Crystal Hearts: ~"No. I am Crystal Heart, the sword of the elements of nature, created by the hearts of the Great 5 Warrior Leaders of the Great 5 Clans. It is common for me to use the appearance of the last person who has either freed or awakened me."~

Everyone was shocked from what they were seeing, but listened to her melodically pleasing voice.

Crystal Heart: ~"If said person's memories are not mistaken, you must be Lan Huan; courtesy name, Lan Xichen. Currently the Clan Leader of the Lan Clan, and the father of the said person I am currently taking the form of. My sincerest apologies and condolences for your loss, will it be more agreeable and comfortable for us to speak through the Guqin instead?"~

Lan Xichen was too focused over the fact that he got to see "Lan Zhēn" again, he still had trouble in realizing nor believing it's not her. Lan Shizui decided to speak instead since his Master was frozen on the spot.

Lan Shizui: "E-excuse me... B-but-"

Crystal Heart: ~"Lan Yuan, courtesy name, Lan Shizui. You are a close friend of the person I am taking the form of, am I correct?"~

Lan Shizui: "Y-yes. I-I just wanted to ask... W-were you the one calling me?"

Everyone were confused as to what the boy meant, but listened nonetheless.

Crystal Heart: ~"Yes. It was I who called."~

Lan Shizui: "Why?"

Crystal Heart: ~"The tear of fire was needed for me to finally be awakened."~

Lan Wangji: "Tear of fire?"

Lan Shizui: "But it was my blood that you took, not my tears."

Crystal Heart: ~"The tear was not from your eyes, it came from your blood."~

Wei Wuxian: "Fire... Blood... *Looks at Shizui, then at Crystal Heart while doing the nose thing* So... it's because... He's from the exterminated Wen Clan?"

Jiang Cheng: "But why did you need Lan Shizui for? Weren't you already awakened?"

Crystal Heart: ~"Jiang Wanyin, courtesy name, Jiang Cheng. Currently the Clan Leader of the Jiang Clan. To answer your question, I was never awakened. I was merely healed from my sorrows and despair, in other words, I was consoled and cleaned by the negativity from within me. To truly be completely repaired, I needed the descendant of the Great Warrior Leader of the Wen Clan to repair the Ruby. In other words, console the broken piece of my heart with their tear."~

Nie Huisang: "So you're saying that, since the Ruby on the sword is fixed by him (pointing at Shizui), does that mean... Lan Shizui is the descendant and the next Wen Clan Leader?"

Crystal Heart: ~"(A/N: I couldn't find his real name), courtesy name, Nie Huaisang (A/N: I also noticed I've been writing his name wrong XD). Currently the Clan Leader of the Nie Clan. Yes, upon fixing the Ruby, this would mean that Lan Shizui... No... Wen Shizui, is now the heir of the soon-to-be reborn Wen Clan."~

Wei Wuxian: "You're saying this not only because he fixed the Ruby, but also because he's practically the only Wen person around, right?"

Crystal Heart: ~"No. He is not the only Wen in existence. *Everyone gasps* There are more in hiding, fear from death, awaiting for their leader to arrive."~

Lan Shizui (insecure): "B-but I can't become a Clan Leader, I'm just a Lan disciple. How can I be on the same level as the other Clan Leaders?"

Crystal Heart: ~"You've mistaken, you won't become a Clan Leader. You will become the next Warrior Clan Leader of the new Wen Clan."~

*Gasps*

Nie Huaisang (shocked): "You mean EXACTLY like the ones from before?!"

Crystal Heart: ~"Yes. That also involves you, Clan Leader Jiang Cheng, Clan Leader Lan Xichen, and lastly, Childe Jin Rulan, who's courtesy name is Jin Ling, the next Warrior Leader of Jin Clan."~

Nie Huaisang (panicked/shocked/worried): "BUTBUTBUTBUTBUT! Warrior Clan Leaders?! Can't it be someone else?! A Warrior Clan Leader is MUCH more powerful than a normal Clan Leader like us! The Warrior Clan Leaders from the 5 Great Clans can bend the elements of nature and use them for battle. We can't do that! I'm not even good with a sword!"

Nie Huaisang continued to panic. He CLEARLY didn't feel worthy of being placed nor named as "Warrior Clan Leader". Upon everyone hearing this, the current Clan Leaders agreed, but were just as equally shocked as Nie Huaisang.

Crystal Heart: ~"That is true. You currently cannot become the Warrior Leaders of your Clans, but there is a solution for that problem. You must all learn about your ancestors and the true meaning of your Clans; a simpler way of saying this, you must learn of your true family history. If you don't, you will not become their rightful descendants."~

Jiang Cheng: "But is it necessary for us to become the next Warrior Leaders? If it is, can you tell us why?"

Crystal Heart: ~"My apologies, but it is not my part to take in revealing you the reasons why, I can only tell you how you can find your answer."~

Nie Huaisang: "How do we find it then?"

Crystal Heart: ~"First, you must embark on a long journey, the same one many of your ancestors have done; to meet someone who can help you learn of your family ancestry and history. After all, you cannot become your future if you do not know your past. Unfortunately, some of the histories of your Clans has changed, two of which have changed drastically throughout the years, one changed more than the other, so some of you may take longer to understand. *Looks at Jin Ling* Childe Jin, if you may please step forward."~

Jin Ling gulped and stepped forward where Shizui was standing while Shizui stepped away as to give them space. When Jin Ling was close to her, Crystal Heart gently moved her hands which were gracefully covered by the sleeves of her dress on to her glowing chest as something was coming out of it. It had a yellow glow to it, she then softly released it as it floated towards Jin Ling. When he extended his hands, the glow slowly diminished until it was in his hands.

Crystal Heart: ~"The given hair piece belonged to your ancestor, the Great Jin Clan Warrior Leader, Jin Fang (fāng=). Wear this, and only this hair accessory in your journey with the rest, but beware, there will be people who will recognize the accessory and will not hesitate in exterminating you. I recommend you stay by your brothers side where you will be safe from harm. The reason why you should wear it is this, remember that you will need to convince the person you will be meeting that you are the rightful heir. A better way to show this, is to not feel any shame in letting the world know who you are descendant of."~

The hair piece given to Jin Ling was golden with a big red stone on it. It resembled the emblem of the Jin Clan, but a bit different and much more elegant.

Jin Ling (uncomfortable): "So... I have to wear this ALL the time?"

Crystal Heart: ~"As explained before, if you wish to convince the person you will be meeting, you must wear this all the time. Otherwise, if you put it on right before meeting them, you will show discomfort and they will notice. You will only give them the impression of you hating your own ancestor, I am sure you do not wish for that to happen. Am I correct?"~

Jin Ling nods in understanding and steps back, Jiang Cheng walks and stays by Jin Ling's side and inspects the given hair piece with him. Crystal Heart then turns towards Shizui.

Crystal Heart: ~"As for Childe Wen, please come forward."~

Shizui felt off when being called a Wen, but followed her orders nonetheless.

Crystal Heart: ~"Childe Wen. Unfortunately, your situation was just as drastically changed, but still not as much. The warm flames of your family turned into a suffocating wild fire; instead of comforting people, it turned to slavering them. You must clean the blood of the innocent off your family name and prove to all, that the Wen Clan represented fire, not the Sun; love, not power. Show them all, that the Wen Clan of the past is no more; the new Wen Clan will grow and its flames will comfort the ones in desperate need."~

Crystal Heart then does the same thing as she did with Jin Ling, only that instead of an accessory, it's an entire outfit from the Wen Clan.

Crystal Heart: ~"Please wear this when on your journey; the journey may be dangerous when having it on, but your guider will then know who you truly are. But if you don't introduce yourself correctly, as explained to Childe Jin, you will only show you are not a true descendant, and the guider will be forced to ignore you."~

Shizui nodded and stepped back.

Crystal Heart: ~"After you all prepare for the long journey, you must all go to Guangdong (广东), where your guider will wait for your arrival. If you ever get lost in your journey, follow the rhythm of your hearts. Good luck to you all and may the light of the heavens guide you."~

With this said, human Crystal Heart started to slowly glow and disappear at the same time as the sparks of her glow she left out returned to the sword. Everyone was overwhelmed from what they witnessed, no words at all.

*THUD*

Nie Huaisang fainted. While the disciples fanned the fainted man, Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji walked towards a nervous Lan Shizui who was inspecting with Jingyi the designs on his new set of clothes.

Lan Jingyi: "Wow... The Wen Clan dressed so... Dark. Just by the clothes, it really shows how powerful they were."

Shizui nodded, still inspecting the given clothes (remember that he doesn't remember much of his past, and the people he stayed with didn't wear these clothing).

Wei Wuxian: "Hey. *Shizui turns* You okay?"

Lan Shizui (insecure): "I don't know if I can pull this off. I'm just a simple disciple of the Clan."

Lan Wangji (small smile): "You'll do good."

Lan Jingyi: "Hanguang Jun is right! You'll do great! I'm sure you'll even do better than the Wen Clan Leaders from before."

Wei Wuxian (smiling): "Ha! I second that!"

Lan Shizui smiled at the three in front of him, but frowned as he turned towards his Leader who was looking at the ground, his eyes filled with sorrow. Lan Qiren was holding his arm and slightly shaking him, but getting no response. The teenager slowly walked up to his Leader who was deep in thought, him still slightly scared of what may happen.

Lan Shizui (hesitant): "Z-Zewu Jun?"

Lan Xichen slowly looks up to the boy, a look of guilt on his features.

Lan Xichen (softly): "... I'm sorry."

Lan Shizui smiled gently.

Lan Shizui: "Please, don't apologize. I understand why you are overprotective of the sword, you have the right to feel that way. After all, *turns to the sword* it reminds us of someone special."

Lan Xichen: "That's true *Shizui turns*, but I was either way wrong. I didn't listen to you nor let you explain. I did wrong, and as your Leader, I apologise for my irresponsible and unfair behavior... I should've listened to you. I'm sorry."

Lan Xichen slightly bowed, but Shizui bowed deeper.

Lan Shizui (smiling): "I accept your apology."

They both shared a smile. It's been a while since everyone has seen the Lan Clan Leader show a genuine smile, even if it's just a little. After this overwhelming event, they decided to continue to sleep for the rest of the early morning so they can start they're journey freshly.

"The Untamed" series as well as their characters belong to their rightful owner, I only own the made up characters and the plot.
