Chatting

The next morning after breakfast Harley came over to me.

"Teags...about yesterday." He started.

"It's Teagen, only people I trusted get to call me that." I reply.

"Why don't you trust me?" He asked sounding confused.

"How about because you tried to kill me yesterday." I stated.

"I didn't mean for that to happen, Elektra took it too far by holding you under." Harley explained, why wasn't I surprised that Elektra had something to do with this.

"I don't care, you had no right to drag me into the sea." I fired back.

"I just thought it would be a laugh." He said with a chuckle.

"Does it look like I am laughing funny boy."

"No look Teags I am sorry."

"TEAGEN." I corrected him.

I left the kitchen and made my way up to my room taking Jody's book out of my new hiding place and flopping down on the beanbag to read it.

"DINNER!" I heard Mike call a little while later.

'Wasn't it just breakfast? What happened to lunch.' I thought to myself but knowing me I had been reading too much to pay attention when they had called for lunch.

I trudged my way downstairs, I was really enjoying Jody's book and I wasn't that far off the end so I just wanted to stay up there and read it but as soon as I started thinking about the whole dinner and lunch thing my stomach started to rumble.

"Teagen, hurry up or there isn't going to be anything left." Mike called again.

I started to walk a little quicker through the house until I reached the kitchen where Mike was serving up Lasagna for dinner and he always made the mistake of asking how much people wanted which meant the last person didn't end up with much in comparison since Mike is a softy.

"Well sorry if I don't run as soon as food is mentioned like some people." I groan glaring at Tyler and Johnny who were always thinking about their next meal and had clearly got here first as they had the biggest slices.

"Maybe you should and then you might get a decent sized portion." Johnny mocked me.

"Well I'm not a pig like you so I don't need to." I argued back.

"Enough you two. Just eat." Mike scolded us.

"it's true though." I mumbled loud enough for Johnny to hear me but not mike who was at the other end.

I saw Johnny look up at Mike hoping he would say something, but Mike just glared back at him which I am assuming was a sign Johnny needed to shut up.

Dinner was pretty uneventful which makes a change in a place like this, Everyone was talking about school assignments or something, to be fair I wasn't really listening and I definitely hadn't done any of mine.

After dinner I went upstairs and sunk back into my beanbag to continue reading Jody's book. I finally came to the end of it and I was actual sad it was over. I got up from my spot and walked over to Jody's room where she was watching something on her phone.

I knocked on the door to grab her attention.

"Hi Teagen, what's up?" She asked.

"Came to gave you this back, thank you it was really good." I tell her.

"You've read it all already? I've only read the first few pages." She replies a little stunned.

"Jody? Why do you have this book if you don't read? Why would you bring it to the beach?" I questioned.

"My older brother Luke, the alright one, he gave it to me when I was little. Somehow it ended up here with me and I just couldn't throw it away. I've always wanted to read it but I'm not great at reading. I took it to the beach cause that's what people do don't they they read books on the beach but like I said it's not really my thing." She explains.

"What was Luke Like?" I asked bluntly wanting to know more about my only friend.

Jody looked at me shocked.

"Sorry, I'm being rude again. You don't have to answer that. I'll go." I say realising what I had just said people here do not like to talk about their past and rightfully so.

"Teagen Stay" Jody said patting the bed next to her. I went and joined her on the bed.

"Luke was alright, he would bring me food when Kingsley was punishing me, he wanted things to be better than they were. I really looked up to him but he went along with everything that Kingsley said and when I begged him to help me he never did." She tells me.

"I'm sorry Jody." I apologise, since I made her talk about it.

"It's fine, like Mike always says the past in the past now and I'm safe here." she replies.
