Maths

I had been sent out of Maths and ended up in isolation once more, it didn't matter what I did in that lesson, I never understood what was going on anyway and so my instinct was just to have a bit of fun with it. Today I admit it went a bit too far.

I got to the isolation room and told the teacher why I was there.

"Did she send you with any work." The teacher asked.

"Just this sheet." I reply.

"Well you can sit over there and get on with it then." She says pointing to a chair and table in the corner of the room.

I went and sat down, I got a pen out of my bag and attempted the work sheet but I just couldn't make sense of it, frustration growing inside of me I threw the piece of paper into the bin and took out a book to read.

"Teagen you are supposed to be doing maths work." The teacher calls over taking my sheet from the bin and flattening it out before giving it to me. "You haven't even tried." She added before going back to a conversation she was having with another teacher.

"Well that's what I think of this stupid work." I say ripping the paper in half twice and throwing it into the bin before sitting back down.

"If you don't do the work then I will have to call your father and ask him to collect you." She says sternly.

"Have a hard job, I haven't got one." I reply cockily.

"Well then your mother." She replies.

"Nope, No mother either. I'm in care." I said with a smirk since I had managed to fluster her.

"Right I am going to go and get you another sheet and when I come back I want you to sit there and complete it without any fuss." She says before leaving the room.

"Yeah right." I mumbled under my breath causing another student in the room to start laughing.

"Why don't you like Maths then?" The teacher asks me.

"Because its rubbish." I replied.

"Do you find it hard?" She asks.

"No, It's just stupid and useless."

"Right I want you to answer this." She says writing out an equation on a spare piece of paper.

I look down at the piece of paper but nothing that is written down since to make even an ounce of sense to me.

"It's not that I can't do it, I just don't want too." I tell her.

"Justin have you finished your work." He nods in her direction. "Right back to class then and I do not want to hear from any of your teachers again today." She tells him.

The boy slumps of to his class which he clearly didn't want to go back to and would no doubt be back here very soon despite her warning. I felt less on edge now that he was gone since he was no doubt judging me on why I was in here.

"Let's go over this." She says clearly not buying my excuse for not doing the work.

She helped me go over the equation on the sheet of paper, her incessant talking was only confusing me but I think she worked this out since she stopped talking so fast and started showing me slowly how to work out the equation and it actually started to make a little bit of sense.
