School
I was making my way to French with Jody. I loved having French together since I didn't understand it anyway it meant we could muck around together until our teacher would eventually notice. We walked into class and sat down at our desks next to each other. Our teacher glared over at us immediately, guess he could tell how this lesson was going to go.
"We don't get it when you talk in French." I say loudly as our teacher is telling us what to do as usual.
"We have been over this Teagen, enough and get on with the work." The teacher replies in English you will be glad to hear.
"Well no, I can't start the work if I have no idea what you asked me to do." I stand up for myself.
"Just start on the sheet and do your best to translate the words into French." He replies sighing a little.
The sheets were handed out which was just a list of English words that we obviously had to translate into French. I clearly had no idea what any of them were because I never pay attention in lessons. I just put le or la in front of most of them, expect for Bread which I put baguette.
"Teagen quel est le français for pineapple?" My teacher asked me. I looked back him blankly. "What is the French for Pineapple." He asked half heartedly.
"Le Pinapple." I say with a vaguely French accent.
"Non C'est ananas" He tells me which I am guessing means that I got it wrong but then I wasn't really surprised.
"Well I did have the hardest question. Ryan's and Addison's were well easy." I argued.
Ryan was asked what the French is for chocolate which they literally just remove the e for. Addison was then asked the French for Avocado which is Avocat and she went to say the whole thing but our teacher stopped her, so she clearly had no idea either.
"Well then you should have the right answers down on your sheet if they are so easy." He replies a little cockily.
"Well No cause you don't actually teach us shit so I wouldn't know."
"No swearing. If you actually listened like the rest of the class then you would have their level of knowledge and be able to participate properly instead of disrupting our lessons." He lectures.
"The level of knowledge of a bunch of people that know jack all. Addison didn't even know the answer you just stopped her when she got it vaguely right to make her look smart."
"Oi don't bring me into this, I haven't done anything wrong." Addison argues
"Tell me you weren't just going to say avacado then" I reply.
"Well only because Avocados come from France so I assumed it would be the same."
"No, They come from Spain." Someone pipes up. (Yes I know they come from Mexico but I figured a bunch of teens probably wouldn't know that.)
"Right we are not discussing this in my lesson." Mr Goodwin tries to bring a halt to our conversation.
"Well I think we are." I mumbled.
"Right Teagen outside now."
"What, Why?" I questioned.
"I am fed up of you disrupting my lessons, go and wait next door."
I walk out of the classroom and went into the room next door taking a seat at the desk by the door. I sat on my own for a while trying to calm myself down but it wasn't really working.
Mr Goodwin came into the room and started lecturing me about disrupting lessons and how I need to pay more attention and then I might actually learn something. I was sort of listening and nodding along to make it look like I cared.
"Teagen are you even listening to me?" He questions.
"Yeah..blah blah blah needs to listen more ...blah blah blah stop being disruptive." I replied.
He mumbles something in French under his breath.
"You can't talk about me in another language." I say frustrated since I actually know what he just said.
"Wasn't about you." Is all he says.
"Accept you know full well I know the French for shit and it isn't hard to work out that Petite is little. Who else are you calling a little shit then?"
"You can't prove it was about you and no ones going to believe you anyway." Is his only reply.
"Do you know a boy that tried to kill me told me that but guess what I am still here and where is he?"
"I hear in a lovely big villa in Spain with his new foster soon to be adoptive parents." He tells me.
In that moment my anger grew immensely, I stood up picked up the chair and threw It across the classroom. How dare he get to be living in Spain with an amazing family after everything he did. Things escalated fairly quickly at that point and I spent the last 20 minutes of the day in isolation again.
"Teagen Office." Mike says as soon as we get home that afternoon.
"I know I shouldn't have done it, I get it Mike. Your disappointed." I reply trying to just go straight upstairs.
"No Teagen It is more serious then that. Office."
"Mike I get it I'm grounded, extra chores whatever I just wanna go upstairs and relax." I mumbled.
"Teagen you got suspended from school. We need to talk."
"What? Why am I suspended?" I ask finally following him into the office.
"You threw a chair at a teacher." He says furrowing his eyebrows and get cross.
"No I threw a chair in the opposite direction of the teacher."
"You still threw a chair."
"Yeah and do you know why? Cause he ...." I trailed off, what if he's right, what if he didn't believe me.
"What Teagen?" Mike asks.
"Oh nothing It doesn't matter now anyway." I reply huffing and going to leave.
"Teagen, your social workers going to be coming to see you later." Mike informs me.
"What? Why?" I ask a social worker visit was never a good thing.
"The school called her instead of me and she needs to come and see how you are getting on."
