Since the Halloween party I have started talking to Jayce more, I feel bad not telling him where I really live but I just want to be a normal kid for once in my life. I have always been treated differently because of being in care. It never used to bother me because Liam would stick up for me but it's just become easier to hide it recently.

"So Mike said since the government money for us just came in that he is going to take us all shopping--"

"Ssssshhhhh." I interrupt Jody half way through her sentence.

Her and Tyler turn and see who I had become aware of Jayce was walking straight over to us.

"Hey, you fancy hanging out tonight?" Jayce asks me.

"Yeah, what you thinking?" I ask.

"Meet me at the gym at the end of the day. I have a surprise." He tells me.

"Ok." I reply nervously.

"Don't worry I'm not going to make you work out or anything. I just have P.e last period." He laughs a little.

"Oh good cause you know I don't do exercise unless I have too." I joke.

"See you later gotta go see Mr Kent." he says hurrying off inside.

"You embarrassed to be seen with us or something." I hear Tyler call. I notice that I have sort of drifted away from them, I must have been walking towards Jayce. 

"What you going on about, I wasn't going to make him walk all the way over."

"No, wouldn't want him to know the truth about us now would you. He's not going to be able to tell by our faces you know." Jody says becoming annoyed. 

"I didn't say he would. Why you trying to pick a fight?" I ask.

"I'm not the ones that's ignoring her friends for some guy that knows literally nothing about her. How do you seriously expect to be friends with him or more if you can't even tell him your in care. Why does it even matter if he knows?" She argues.

"I just want to be me for two seconds. Just a normal regular teenager."

"Accept being in care is you, you revolve your whole life around what happens there. You were a book nerd because it helped you get away from everything that happens in care. You eat Cheerios for breakfast because in your words mike never buys anything else decent. You started getting in to trouble because your brother left you in care on your own. You used to love big brother because they looked as lost and alone as you felt. Everything you ever do boils back down to being in care." Jody fights back.

"Yeah well maybe I don't want to be like that anymore."

"Why because Jody's right isn't she your ashamed of it." Tyler chips in.

"Well I'm not exactly proud of it am I." I shout.

Tyler and Jody storm off, I tried to hurry after them and explain but they wanted nothing to do with me and honestly I wasn't at all surprised. The rest of the day went by pretty slowly with Jody or Tyler being in most of my classes and neither one talking to me I was taking my own stupidity pretty hard and it was not reflecting well on my report. 

Finally it came to the end of the day and I was looking forward to getting out of this place and meeting up with Jayce. 

"Where are you going?" I hear Tyler call across the car park as Jody glared at him.

"What do you care? You haven't acknowledge me all day." I reply turning to face them.

"What are we going to tell Mike?" I hear Jody question.

"Don't Care not my problem." I say turning back and walking over to the gym where I was meeting Jayce. 

I waited outside the gym for Jayce and then we set off, we went for a little walk in the park like we normally did if we met up and then he took me in to a much quieter part of the park. There was a blanket laid out on the grass with a bag on top. Jayce Nods to his mate who is stood there and he leaves.

"Did you make us a picnic?" I ask 

"even better" He replies lifting up the bag to reveal a pizza underneath. "There's drink in the bag too and crisps. We never seem to get long together because you always have to be back for dinner so I thought what if I brought you dinner."

"Aw Jayce this is so sweet." I say smiling as we both sit down on the blanket.

It starts getting late and as the darkness comes over we both decied it would probably be a good idea to go home.

"I'll walk you back if you like, might even get to met your dad." Jayce says with a small smile.

"I don't think that would be a good idea. I'm probably in enough trouble as it is." I reply.

"It can't be that bad, it's only eight. I can talk to him if you like telling its my fault."

"That's not going to work."

"Why you getting the arse with me? I am trying to help."

"No your trying to meet my dad and I told you it ain't going to happen yet. God we never talk about your family, they barely get a mention." I argue.

"I told you, I don't get along with them and I'm a huge disappointment. You really want me to bring you into that?" He says becoming angry.

"No, No Look I'm sorry."

"Let's just walk and talk and if you want to bail and walk home then that's fine but at least let me walk you part of the way." He tells me.

So that's what we do, we walk and we talk. I can tell which direction of town we are heading in and naturally we are heading back in the direction of the dumping ground. The closer we get the sicker I feel, I want to shout at him to leave but I can't stop talking to him. We are finally back at the dumping ground and I stop abruptly.

"You ok?" He asks.

"This is me." I reply slowly looking up at the house.

"Looks big, must be nice if there is just the four of you." He comments.

"Yeah it is erm--" I trail off not wanting to lie but not knowing what to say.

"You sure your ok?" He asks.

"Look Jayce, I don't live with my dad. This is a care home, I don't why I lied to you." I told him and he looked shocked. 

"Actually I do, being in care hasn't exactly been easy and I didn't want to tell you because it's always something I got picked on for. Lianna--" I laughed thinking back on it. "she bullied me for a bit, said being in care meant no one loved me, no one ever would. She would tell me it was my fault I had done something wrong. It's not true though, I just got the shitty deal at life that's what happens sometimes. Some people get everything and some people get nothing." I explained.

"What about your brothers?" He questioned.

"I didn't lie about any of that, My mum did die but she had already put us into care. Me and Liam were close but we drifted apart when we found out about Jack, Liam went to live with him but I wasn't aloud to go with them."

"That must have been hard."

"The dad I talked about, I was actually talking about my care worker Mike but everything was true and he is like a father figure to me now. Look I'm sorry Jayce and if you never want to see me again then I get it but I really have to go in now because I am already in so much trouble." I say starting to walk away.

"Teagen, I really need to tell you something." He calls after me.

"I can't, not right now." I say as mike comes out of the door.

"Tomorrow at school then, it's important." He tells me.
