I held Lindsay until the 15 minutes of recess was up. We sat down together and she rested her head on my shoulder. Her face was red and blotchy and I gently rubbed her arm. Everybody filed back into the room and as Ethan passed, he patted my shoulder gently. The judge called me up and I stood up and walked to the stand.
-After Court-
Lindsay hasn't said anything since court. We all got into the car and rode away in silence. Devin was serving life in prison and was never allowed to see Lindsay again. She had already fallen asleep on my shoulder and Ethan texted me, knowing she was sleeping.

And with that his earbuds went into his ears and he closed his eyes. I sighed. I sipped my Dr. Pepper, then realized it was warm and flat. I cringed and started eating nacho cheese Doritos. Once I finished I put the bag in the cup holder. I checked my Instagram and saw a bunch of comments on the selfie I posted with Lindsay.

I deleted all the mean comments and set down my phone.
"Maybe I should just sleep." I thought to myself. So I closed my eyes and pulled Lindsay closer to me.
