Chapter Five
I flung forward abruptly, my head to connecting with the harsh, cement wall. I cried out in pain, staggering backward. I spun around, my eyes rolling out of focus. I blinked rapidly and slowly, my vision gradually became clear, allowing me to see a security guard standing there, his face impassive. I straightened my spine and looked at him levelly in the eye.
"I think you're aware that you just attacked three students," he said, his voice flat and emotionless.
"Actually," I butted in, crossing my arms over my chest defensively. "They ganged up on me. I literally only used self-defense."
He frowned upon hearing these words. "Well, may that be the case; I still need you to hand over your weapon."
"Weapon?" I asked, giving him an enigmatical expression. All the while, my heart rate was spiking. My palms turned clammy and I tried to wipe them without him taking notice. I swallowed, attempting to keep my collected facade rolling.
"Yes, the item you used to 'defend' yourself," he said, using quotation marks, staring at me like I was stupid. I gritted my teeth in agitation.
"Oh that," I laughed casually, leaning back into the wall casually, bringing my leg up, so that the soul of my shoe was resting alongside the rest of my upper body. "That was Eliza's."
"Sure it was. Do you have it?" he asked, giving me a skeptical look.
"I don't. I think it fell to the ground in the bathroom."
"Did it now?" he asked suspiciously, smirking at me slightly. "You wouldn't mind if I patted you down then?"
"Be my guest," I replied boldly.
I took a gulp as he began at the bottom of my legs. I really, really hoped it was well hidden in my little area. He got dangerously close, but thankfully, didn't quite pat-down where it was. I let out a shaky breath as he took a step back.
"You're not free yet. You will need to speak with the Principal," he drawled, his eyes studying me intently as though he didn't quite believe that I didn't have the 'weapon' on me and needed to do a re-check.
"No worries. Do I head there now?"
"I'll escort you."
Damn.
He gripped my upper arm with his vicious fingers and steered me out of the room. My head was still pounding from the hit and I squeezed my eyes shut for a few moments. I re-opened them and let my eyes sweep over the dimly lit corridor as we wound down. He remained silent. I bit my lip, unsure of how to wriggle myself out of this.
What if I faked to faint or something?
"So, how's your day been?" I asked cheerfully.
He grunted in response. I shuffled alongside him and soon enough, I was mere inches from the Principal's door. The security guard rasped on the door loudly and it swung open automatically.
"Yes?" Mr. Wood asked impatiently with a sigh. He inspected me quickly with his eyes. "What happened?"
I sighed.
Here we go again.

"Did you get into much trouble?" Imogen asked me as she laid upside down on her bed, flicking through a magazine. Her impressive, long hair was trailing off literally the edge of the bed.
"I have to do community service," I spat, my jaw clenched as I threw my fist into the carpet, rage rolling off of me in waves.
She chuckled at me, finding my anger amusing. "Sucked in."
"Bite me."
"Oh well. There is a party this Friday night at one of the boy's dorms. That should cheer you up a bit, yeah?"
"Guess so."
I finished the braid in my hair and strode to my bed, crawling onto it. I couldn't be bothered to put pants on. It was way too hot, so I just stuck with my over-sized Eminem shirt. I rested my head back and stared at the ceiling.
"I'm not tired."
"Want to get baked?"
"Not really," I replied.
"We should watch a movie."
"The T.V is so crap in here. I only got one because I slept with one of the English teachers and he insisted I needed it for an assignment."
I scrunched up my nose at her words. "Dirty with the teacher. That is something I've never done. Which English teacher?"
"I only did it for the benefits," she shrugged nonchalantly, avoiding my question. I shrugged it off, deciding not to push it. "I got a T.V out of it anyway. What do you want to watch? The Notebook?"
"No way, too soppy. Let's watch some of the Saw movies."
"Yuck."
"Don't be a baby," I scolded, crawling off my bed.
I padded to the T.V and shoved the DVD in. I perched myself comfortably in my bed. Despite what I said about being tired, I don't know what it is, but in movies, I seemed to get drowsy. I enjoyed falling asleep watching T.V. My eyes got so strained, they needed to be relieved.
"Oh and if you talk in your sleep again, I swear I'm going to king hit you," Imogen mumbled sleepily, causing me to smile slightly into my pillow.
"Like to see you try," was the last thing I said before I let sleep overrule me.

I saw the surprise in Colin's eyes as he made his way over to our desk, collapsing on the chair beside me. He smirked at me, looking adorable. I mentally shook myself. This guy was a jerk, I didn't want to be having thoughts like that about him.
"Thought you had cracked."
"Well, you thought wrong," I clipped back, smiling sweetly.
I flicked my hair over my shoulder and rested my chin into my palm, rolling my lips into my mouth. I knew he was watching me, which is exactly why I was doing it. I disliked how much I enjoyed him watching me.
"I'm surprised you're not suspended."
"I got community service," I replied.
He snorted, shifting, so he sat further back in his seat, his arm tucked up, supporting him so that he was half facing me. "Sucked in."
"Your personality continues to amaze me."
"I do have that effect on people."
"Sure do," I muttered, earning an eye roll from him. "Keen for the party this Friday night?"
"Not if you're going."
"You just don't want to admit you'd like to hang with me."
"I'd rather stick a pin in my eye."
"Harsh."
"Suck it."
"Don't tempt me," I joked flirtatiously, even offering him a wink.
I saw the corners of his lips twitch. Mr. Johnston soon silenced the class, well, somewhat of silence anyway, and began the lesson. Colin slumped forward, resting his head onto the desk. He went dead silent for a couple of minutes. I felt the urge to poke him with a ruler but thought better of it.
"Mr. Denver, your thoughts?" Mr. Johnston asked, smirking.
The gleam in his eye and the hint of arrogance in his voice proved that he purposefully zoned in on Colin because he was asleep. It was wrong, yes, but you could tell Mr. Johnston was just looking for any excuse to get rid of him and get him into trouble. Some classmates laughed and someone even threw a rolled-up, piece of paper at him, which ricocheted off his head, to his desk, and to its eventual destination on the floor.
I nudged him with my elbow. He didn't even stir. I raised my hand and slapped the back of his head. Hard. This caused chuckles and laughter to erupt around the room. He awoke with a snort, rounding on me with narrowed eyes.
"What the hell is your problem?" he snapped harshly at me.
Wordlessly, I pointed to the front of the room. I probably enjoyed hitting him a bit too much. Following my sign, he slowly turned, going eye to eye with a tight-smiling Mr. Johnston.
"Asleep again, Mr. Denver?" he asked sweetly, rocking backward and forwards, a wicked grin on his face. The sight of him made my upper lip curl. I don't know why, but something about this guy seriously irritated me.
"Well, I was," he spat, his gaze flickering to me. I stared stonily back, feeling the urge to smack him again.
"Detention with me this lunch." Mr. Johnston said swiftly, turning away from him as though those last words were finishing the argument.
"Nah," Colin replied, reeling back and rocking on the chair so that the front two legs of the chair were hovering above the ground. "I'm all right."
"Oh, it wasn't an option."
Colin shrugged, looking bored. He rose to his full height and marched towards the doorway. His chin jutted out stubbornly. "Mr. J, you can suck my di-"
"Get out," he said, cutting him off, throwing his hand towards the door in gesture, his mouth forming a tight, thin line. "Now."
"Already heading that way." Colin retorted, rolling his eyes.
And with that final statement, he turned, exiting the classroom. I tried not to laugh at Mr. Johnston's expression. He looked completely outraged as heat flooded to his cheeks. He then began swearing under his breath. After that, he resumed with the lesson and I gazed at the vacant seat beside me.
I don't know what it was, but there was something intriguing about that boy.

I followed Imogen to the lounge, where the boys were hanging out. I strode over and wedged my way in, between Jeremy and Chase. They were stuffing their faces with chips and watching a horror movie. Even though I found half of them boring, I loved one that would scare the wits out of me. Although that rarely was the case.
"Don't mind us, Hayley," Jeremy stated sarcastically, putting a fistful of chips into his mouth. "You're welcome to barge through us."
"Thanks," I replied, raising my legs and resting them on Chase's lap. "You don't feel like giving me a massage, do you?"
Chase stared at me in amusement. "On one condition."
"What would that be?"
He gestured to his lap and then made some jerky hand movements. Jeremy chuckled, his chest rumbling underneath me. I rolled my eyes at Chase's forwardness. "I'll massage myself if you're going to be like that."
"I'm only kidding, Hales."
"No, you're not."
He began making circular patterns on my calve muscles and I sighed, leaning back into Jeremy. This school was so big, it felt as though it strained my muscles with the amount of walking I have to do.
"You could make a living off this, Chase," I murmured, a smile making its way onto my lips as I snuggled against Jeremy. His chest felt nice underneath me. I tried not to think about that, though. No boy thoughts allowed.
"Cheers, babe."
"Where's Johnno?" Alex asked, who sat on the other lounge, adjacent to where Colin was. I hadn't even looked at Colin the entire time of me being here. Even if the last time we'd had an encounter hadn't been a full-on fight, I still couldn't be bothered with his crap. I swear I could feel the heat of his gaze on me though. I didn't want to look at him because he was so sexy it almost hurt my eyes.
"Someone say my name?" Johnny asked, striding into the room like he owned the place. He smirked upon seeing me and did a head nod. I made a face at him and didn't respond to it, just because he thought he was so cool.
"Hayley! How are you?" he asked in a chatty voice, going and sitting on top of Jeremy.
"Not comfortable now," I complained, staring up at him. "Do you need to sit there?"
"I do." He nodded seriously. "Nice to see you've settled in."
"Yeah. Want to give me a head massage?"
He exchanged a look with Chase and I saw him shrug. Johnny rolled his eyes and began running his fingers through my hair. That was my absolute favourite thing, ever since I was little. Dad used to sit there and rub my head, which usually made me fall to sleep instantly. I sighed deeply through my nose.
"You guys are good at this."
"We're not just pretty faces," Chase smirked, winking at me.
"How long do you reckon?" Jeremy asked.
"Three days," Chase replied instantly.
"A week." Alex butted in.
"Until what?" I asked, confused.
They all exchanged glances and looked at Johnny. Johnny just smiled and began caressing my cheek with his thumb. "You'll see soon enough."
Some boys snorted, and I continued to lay there, completely baffled. I looked around at Colin and he stood up and strode from the room, which had me even more puzzled.
"Tell me!" I demanded.
"You'll see at the party." Johnny murmured, leaning down and brushing his lips by my forehead, much to my utter shock.
My eyes widened as I looked up at him. What the hell? Who does that?
Slowly, I got up and looked at them all. I wiped my forehead with the back of my hand, making a face at him. Johnny smirked at me.
"You guys are weird."
Still utterly confused, I stood up stiffly. I stared at them in confusion one last time before slowly making my way back to my dorm room.
What was going to happen at the party...?
I was now officially nervous.

What do you think might happen? ;)
