Chapter Thirteen

Dedication: Its_Christina_Bitch for the two awesome and very hot covers on the side - thanks heaps. They're great! :)

Believe it or not, when Colin said, "So... let's go get started on that assessment," we actually did. We were on our way almost to the finish line, which was awesome, because my patience was beginning to grow thinner and thinner.

I thought I would be on his case all the time for slacking off, but our roles had reversed. I was the one who kept spacing out. My mind just kept floating back to about three hours previously, when Colin and I shared that steamy, intimate kiss that made my knees weak just thinking about it. I licked my lips, closing my eyes, at the memory.

He was so good.

"Hmm, hmm, hmm..." he hummed casually, tapping the pen on the dining room table. "Hmm, hmm, hmm!"

I gritted my teeth, my mind snapping instantly away from my naughty thoughts. Colin and his excessive tapping was making me so riled up I wanted to hit something. Or myself. Whatever would work. I had already lectured him twice and gotten into an argument with him about it. He doesn't even 'realise he is doing it'. Yes. I'm sure.

My eyes narrowed as I shot daggers at him. He remained oblivious, reading through the pages, his eyes skimming across the lines. Not even his attractive looks could melt my icy attitude right now. I was too tired and aggravated. Oh and the fact that every minute that went by, meant it was a minute closer to me being dragged back to the hell hole, most commonly called Downright High. I had been happy all day, or most of it, until I was harshly reminded of that.

"Hey, could you pass me that knife?" I asked, pointing to the large knife Miranda had been using to slice her pie with.

"Sure... why?" he asked distractedly, reaching over to get it.

"So I can slit your throat."

He paused, swivelling his eyes to mine. Amusement flashed across his eyes and his arrogant smirk found its way onto his lips. He laughed, leaning back on his chair, resting his hands behind his head.

"I'm doing it again, aren't I?"

"Yes." I deadpanned, my voice bland. I shifted, my legs beginning to cramp up. I rose to my full height and stretched, feeling my back crack. I felt my skin heat up as Colin's eyes walked over my body. I plopped back onto the table, resting my elbow on there and planting my chin in the palm of my hand. His eyes never left mine as he gazed at me curiously. I tried not to grin in satisfaction.

"How much of that have you done?"

"Finished."

"Good, I just have the conclusion to do."

"Well, you do that and I'll go get a beer."

"Um, think again," Miranda said sternly, striding in. She placed her hands on her hips and pursed her lips disapprovingly. "You, my son, are under age."

"Hasn't stopped the entire teenage population of Australia before." Colin pointed out, rolling his eyes.

"Yeah, well, may that be the case, I still say no."

I watched the scene fall out before me. I studied Miranda, unable to resist giving her a slightly dirty look. Her current husband had clearly picked on Colin and rudely spoke about her former husband and she still is with him. After everything. I know Colin wasn't home very much, but still. I didn't think that was right. I suppose I've only heard Colin's side of the story but I wholeheartedly think my opinion would remain the same.

I sighed and resumed back to my work. My hand was aching, but I soldiered through it the best I could. By the end of the conclusion my handwriting was pretty much scribble, but I didn't care, I'm sure Mr. Johnston could read it.

"Ice tea, Hayley?" Miranda asked, cutting me from my thoughts.

"Oh, sure, thanks."

She gave me a small smile and bustled around the kitchen. She emerged, placing the cup down on a coaster. I thanked her again and took a couple of sips, concluding in the cliché, "Ahh."

I got up, shutting my books and snatching up my pens. I trudged down the hall and into my room, dumping my stuff into my bag. I went into the bathroom and washed my hands. I began rubbing them, attempting to soothe the throbbing that was scattering across them. I stared at my reflection for a moment.

My green eyes were alarmingly brighter than usual. My long, brunette hair was currently stuck up in a high pony tail, which cascaded down my back and passed my shoulder blades. My tanned skin looked shiny in the light and my lips were full and red.

And still tingling from the contact with Colin this morning.

With a deep exhale, I walked out and began my short trek back to my room. As I passed Colin's room, the door opened suddenly and his arm snaked around my waist. With a gasp of surprise, I went tumbling in sideways.

As soon as my feet gained proper ground again, his body collided with mine roughly, making my back hit the wall. I let out an embarrassing squeak sound. This scene was happening so fast, it still hadn't sunk into my brain properly. His lips met mine roughly and I blinked, shock running through me.

Which only lasted a second.

I responded instantly and I ground my body against his. I brought my hands up, one pressed against his cheek, the other running through his messy hair. Our lips moved fast and passionately together, moving in motion with our bodies.

His hands were roaming all over my body and squeezing me in all the right places. My heart beat began increasing dramatically as it thudded rapidly against my chest. It was all I could hear, pounding in my ears, like roaring drums.

I wouldn't be surprised if he could hear it too.

His lips moved from mine, much too my despair, and began furiously leaving trails down my cheek and jawline. His lips found my neck and I felt a sudden swoop of tingling sensations run down my stomach, through my abdomen and down to my toes. I felt a shiver run down my back and I moaned without meaning to. I felt him smirk against my skin in satisfaction. I grabbed his hair and yanked his head back up to meet my lips. Without any warning, his arms wrapped around me again and lifted me.

My legs didn't even take a second before they wrapped around him. He carried me across from the wall and placed me down to the bed. As things were heating up extremely quickly and clothes were peeling off easier then layers of your skin after a killer sun burn, there was a faint knock at the door. At first I thought it was in my head, but then it happened again. I continued kissing down his chest and stomach, grazing my teeth against his skin, until a timid voice could be hear, floating through underneath the door.

"Colin? Can I come in?"

My lips stopped and my body froze. Clarissa. As fast as lightening, we sprung apart from each other. I grabbed my top and as did he. I went over to his desk and pretended to be doing something, whilst he opened the door.

"Oh - hey Hayley!" she said, smiling, walking in, her hair a bundle of messy curls and her cheeks tinged hue of pink.

"Hi," I said, cursing her in my mind.

Why, why, why? Things had started getting so good.

"I'll just go," I murmured, brushing passed him. Our skins touched and a jolt of electricity burned through my skin, making me feel so alive.

If only Clarissa hadn't walked in...

His eyes were a few shades darker then usual and his lips were swollen and red, from me. He looked like he wanted to say something, but kept his mouth closed. I slipped out and forced my shaky legs to carry me back to my room. I entered and collapsed on the bed, breathless. That had been amazing. The best make out session I have ever had and trust me, I've had a few over my time.

The way I felt with him, I don't even know how to explain. He made me feel so hot and the adrenaline that pumped through my veins would be enough to hot wire a car. These feelings should be considered illegal. I had never noticed the tattoo sashed across his chest until I was running my tongue across it.

I think I was too riled up last time I saw him shirtless to take any notice of it. It now had me intrigued. It was written in a language I didn't understand, bordered with symbols that I didn't know the meaning of. He also had the word 'Faith' scribbled on his bicep. His bulging muscles made it look so attractive. I wasn't exactly a fan of tattoos, but his were hot. They suited him extremely well. I raised my finger and ran my finger across my lips, feeling them pulsate. I rested my head back and closed my eyes.

I wanted to stay here, with Colin, forever as cheesy and cliché as that sounds.

<><><><><><>

Begrudgingly, I slid into the back seat, a frown evident on my face. I was very unimpressed that I had to go back. Having time out in the actual real world, seeing a family and having actual baked, home meals had been amazing.

Oh and hooking up with Colin every now and then had been pretty good too, I'll say. His two younger siblings were gorgeous. They were both going to grow up and be very attractive people, just like their brother.

This weekend, I really did see a side of Colin I never knew existed. And I liked it. Very much. I also saw another side of him which I definitely will be seeing again, that's affirmative. I smirked, replaying what happened in his room. Just thinking about it wiped the frown off my face and was replaced with an almost dreamy smile. I mentally slapped myself and scrunched up my face. Yuck. I was acting like one of those love-sick teenagers you'd find in a Romance story on some Internet website.

Not. Me. At. All.

I tuned out of what Colin and his mother were speaking about and gazed silently out of the car window. I watched the world fly by. I ran my fingers down the glass, biting my lip, wishing I was free. I wish I had a family I could go home to. Siblings that loved me and a nice meal waiting on the table.

Some people really don't know how lucky they are.

Unfortunately, the trip was short and too soon, we were pulling into the car park of Downright High. I sighed, pressing my lips into a flat line. I so did not want to be here right now. I maneuvered myself from the car and hauled my bag onto my shoulder, staggering backwards a bit.

Colin's hand rested on my back and tingles shot through my body at his mere touch. I turned, grinning at him. "Thanks."

He smirked but didn't reply. He grabbed his own bag and we both rounded the car, coming face to face with Miranda.

"Thanks for having me. I had a nice time." I said, forcing a bright smile onto my face, so I at least looked grateful, because I really was. I just had a hard time showing it.

"Any time!" she said, beaming at me. "Come back soon?"

I glanced at Colin and his expression was unreadable. I shrugged it off. She lent forward and gave me a tight hug. I stiffened, not knowing what to do. She pulled back, her hands clenching my shoulders. I glanced down in surprise.

"It was very nice meeting you!"

"Er- you too."

"See you next time," she smiled, warmth radiating from her in waves, it actually made me feel a little nauseous. I gave her a wobbly smile and a head nod.

Shrugging out of her hold, I turned and walked from the two, giving them space. I began my trek back to school. A guard nodded at me when I walked past him, but I didn't acknowledge him.

I began mounting the stairs when I heard someone call my name. I glanced over my shoulder and saw Jeremy jogging towards me, his slightly long hair flopping down onto his neck. He mouth was set in a big grin, that stretched across his face.

"Heya' girlfran." he said in a twangy voice reminding me of some Country Bumpkin from an Outback movie.

I rolled my eyes at him. "Hey."

He threw his arm over my shoulder and I flinched in surprise. He either didn't notice it or didn't care, because he didn't say anything about it.

"How was Colin's?"

"Okay," I lied, not wanting to admit how much of a good time I actually had. "How was your weekend?"

"Above average," he said. "Threw a party."

"Oh what? Damn."

"It wasn't big or anything." he said dismissively. "You didn't miss much."

"That's good."

We walked along the hall and the door to my dorm appeared in sight. We reached my destination and I walked out of his contact. I gave him a small smile, averting my eyes.

"Thanks for walking me. I'll see you tomorrow."

"Okay," he grinned, thumping me enthusiastically on the shoulder, making me stagger sideways from the impact. "Bye!"

He turned and walked from me. I couldn't help but smile when I was around him. He really did remind me of a golden puppy. He had the perfect tan and the bleached blond hair. His eyes were so dark and brown, they reminded me of chocolate. Speaking of which, I was craving some.

I watched him walk from me. I took a moment to check him out. He was one of the most attractive guys in this school, by far. Up there with Colin, definitely.

After exhaling and shaking my head, I turned the handle and entered my room. I clicked the light on and saw Imogen and Chase there, fortunately clothed and not attacking each other's faces like vacuum cleaners.

"Welcome back!" Chase sang cheerfully, his voice booming around the quiet and small room. I raised my eyebrows.

"Bestie!" Imogen squealed, springing to her feet. She ran over to me and threw her arms around my neck, as if attempting to strangle me. I stood there and waited until she let go. She took a step back, glowing at me. "How are you?"

"Good..." I said almost hesitantly.  "You?"

"Excellent."

"It seems as though everyone is in a good mood..." I trailed off in confusion. I went and dumped my gear on the bed and fell back onto it.

"Best party last night. Well, not the best, but it was good. For us, anyway." she said, wiggling her eyebrows suggestively.

"Ew."

Chase snorted and Imogen just giggled. I ignored the two and got to my feet. I began unpacking all my clothes, while they began talking stupidly to each other and pinching each other's cheeks. I made a vomiting sound and they laughed.

"I better go. Talk tomorrow."

"Okay babe," she purred back.

The kissed briefly, before he waved and departed. I raised my eyebrows at her and she smiled back innocently.

"So. Tell me all about Colin's, I want to know every, single, juicy detail!"

I sighed. This was going to be a long night.

<><><><><><><>

I woke up from an actual, proper sleep. I felt a genuine smile tug onto my face at this. I knew exactly why I slept good for once. It was because all my dreams seemed to consist of thing. Or, one person rather.

I just kept visualising our next hook up session... where it was going to be, how far we'd actually get to go this time...

"Are you showering? If not, I'm going to go." Imogen informed me, rolling out of her bed and staggering towards me. Her hair was a mane of teased curls and her eyes were droopy. She rubbed at them sleepily and yawned. For someone so glamorous, she really looked the opposite, first thing in the morning.

"You go." I insisted, waving her off. "I think you need it more."

She gave me a 'look', before trudging in there. I rolled my eyes. That girl seriously could be a replica of a zombie at times. For a beautiful girl, she sure could look like death better than the grim reaper could.

I began getting ready for the school day, as much as I could without the bathroom, until Imogen finally emerged, looking like a super model. How that girl worked so fast, was beyond me. She smirked at my gawking.

"I defy the quote, 'you can't rush perfection' because, duh, I can." she clipped, flicking her golden hair over her shoulder.

I stuck my tongue out at her. "Yeah, yeah."

Brushing past her, I entered, continuing to get ready. I couldn't fight off the smile that kept creeping onto my face. I wouldn't say Colin and I were anything, yet again I was leaving myself unlabelled, but if we could get a friends with benefits thing going, I would definitely not complain. Who would? Hooking up with a hunk like him with no strings attached? I wouldn't need to be asked twice.

I grabbed my last minute stuff, before following Imogen out of our dorm. We set on our way to our class. I had English first, like most days. I was quite pleased with myself that we actually finished the assessment given.

It must be one of the first I've ever done. Quite an accomplishment for me, I must say.

I strode into class and straight up to Mr. Johnston's desk, where he was perched behind. His glanced up at me, arrogance radiating from him. I could bet you anything, he was thinking I hadn't done it. Especially since I was paired with Colin, his arch enemy, so it seems.

He was wearing a dark shirt, buttoned up, with two from the top loose, revealing the top part of his chest. He was just wearing casual black pants. He always looked classy. He was clean shaven and it pale eyes were almost translucent. If he wasn't such an arrogant jerk, I sure would fantasise about him.

Smirking, I slapped the assessment down. When his eyes almost bulged out of his head, I couldn't help but let out a laugh. He looked like a deer caught in headlights. He fumbled picking up the papers, his eyes skimming over them.

"I-what-you-how-" he began spluttering and my laughing continued. I felt like slapping my knee for effect, but decided against it. "You-you got Colin to do work?"

"Yes sir," I said, grinning despite myself, my cheeks feeling sore from all the smiling I'd been doing lately. It was unnatural for me.

With that final statement, I turned on my heel and marched to my table, feeling awfully smug of myself. I collapsed down onto the chair and fiddled with my pen. My eyes kept darting to the door, when a new person entered, hoping it was Colin.

Soon enough the lesson began, with no sign of him. I brushed it off. It wasn't unusual that he wasn't here. Actually, it would be more unusual if he was. Apparently most people had successfully finished their assessment, much to Mr. Johnston's astonishment, so we were currently in his good books, meaning no screaming lectures about 'partying'.

The bell buzzed loudly and the chairs screeched as students began racing towards the door. I stayed back, waiting for the rush to die down, before attempting to leave. I exited and was on my way to my next classes, when I saw him.

He was wearing the white, school polo shirt and it hung loosely on him, making it evident it was probably a couple of sizes too big, although his defined chest was still visible through it. His arms were so delicious. His blue orbs were electric, contrasting amazingly with his dark hair. I felt my heart beat start to increase slightly, which alarmed me. Since when did I ever get nervous around boys? I was the one who was confident and made others weak at the knees, not the other way around.

Our eyes met and I couldn't help smile at him. His face didn't alter, one tiny bit. His eyes swept over me, almost coldly, before he brushed past me and kept going. I stopped in my tracks, my eyes wide with shock.

I looked over my shoulder at him retreating. What was that? He was so open and good to me on the weekend... and now he was back to being the indifferent pig that I hate? Is he seriously doing this?

I watched him for a second. When he didn't turn around, I found my eyes began to narrow dangerously. I gritted my teeth together and my hands balled up into fists, to the extent my nails were biting into my flesh.

Well, two can play this game.

Dun dun dun.
