Recap:
Tears welled in my eyes. How could he do this? He told me he liked me.
I wanted to go over there and punch him so hard that it knocked him into the water behind him.
I wasn't going through this again.
We were so done.
------------------
After convincing Brooklyn I was fine, after dropping her off, I cried like a baby.
For about half an hour. I contemplated punching my steering wheel, but decided I loved my car too much and that I should punch Xavier's face instead. With that thought in mind, I stomped on the accelerator and drove a little too recklessly home.
I just kept thinking, was I not enough?
What we had was amazing. If that wasn't enough for him, what would be?
His motorbike was parked in the driveway. Huh, I guess the date wasn't going into dinner time then. Good. I don't have to wait around to kill him.
I marched through the front door, my rage feeling hot inside my veins. I froze.
Candles were littered everywhere. There was a mouth watering smell wafting through the bottom floor. There was soft music playing.
He brought her back here!?
Well, with all the candles, it will make it easier to murder him. And hide the body.
I slammed the door shut so hard I'm surprised it didn't fly off it's hinges. I didn't get to take another step, before Xavier slowly wandered down the stairs, a rose in his mouth. I stared at him like he had three heads.
He was busted and he had the audacity to act this calm and casual? Hell no.
He had a white robe wrapped securely around his body. His eyes never leaving mine, he walked silently to the bottom of the stair case, before dropping the robe.
He had nothing on underneath.
My mouth fell open. Wait... he cut his date off early to come romance me?
Is he really that sick?
Taking the rose from between his teeth, he smirked at me. "Hey baby."
My mouth was still dangling open. My eyes roamed over his sculpted body. He was so hot that my body ached for him. I squeezed my eyes shut, trying to compose myself.
"What are you doing?" My voice was strained as I tried to keep it together.
"Continuing what happened earlier at lunch," he grinned, coming towards me.
I kept my eyes on his face, as hard as it was. No pun intended.
"What happened earlier, Xavier?" I asked through gritted teeth, sounding eerily calm.
"You know," he smirked.
He reached out, gripping my hips with his hands. I wanted to press my body against his and feel his mouth on mine. I wanted to feel the heat of his skin seeping into mine.
But I couldn't.
"I know how you're a two timing asshole." I spat, throwing his hands away from me.
His forehead crinkled as he looked at me. "Huh?"
"Oh, don't play dumb," I snapped, feeling my cheeks grow hot. "After knowing what Jacob did to me, did you really do this?"
"I have no idea what you're talking about?"
This just only made me angrier.
"I saw you with her!" I cried, shoving him. He stepped back, still looking at me like I was crazy. "With Amy. I saw you."
He reached down and slipped his robe back over him. At least it was easier to focus when he was covered again. He slowly did the belt up as he stared at me, a line deep in his forehead as if he was trying to work something out.
"I don't know what you think you saw, but I came here straight after school to set this up. I thought we could have a romantic night."
I laughed. "Oh yeah, cut your date short to come screw me and then go back to her again? You're sick."
"Faith," he said, gripping my shoulders, his eyes boring into mine. "I promise you I have done nothing wrong. I'm only seeing you. I wouldn't do that to you."
"I saw you!" I shrieked, tears burning at my eyes.
"How could you have- oh shit!" He face palmed himself. He turned his back to me. "Oh shit, shit, shit!"
"What?" I asked, now more confused than before. "Finally realising you got caught? Yeah. Big time."
"He's here." I stopped for a second. The panic in his voice made my stomach clench. What on earth was he talking about? "How did they find me?"
"Who are you talking about?" I asked, folding my arms across my chest. "Are you trying to change the subject?"
Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. The colour completely drained from Xavier's face. Slowly, I turned and opened the door, although he whispered at me not to.
I looked into the green eyes of Xavier's.
I stiffened. But Xavier was behind me.
I glanced back over my shoulder, seeing Xavier standing there, looking like he'd just seen a ghost.
"Brother," the boy in front of me said. "Long time no see."

Okay, now I was the one who was confused.
"Faith, I'm guessing," he grinned, throwing a hand out. "I'm Chase. Nice to meet ya."
A little dumbfounded, I shook his hand. I hadn't realised Xavier's brother was a twin. He must have been the one I saw with Amy - not Xavier. Which was much more comforting. I felt the rage fizzle out and I let out a shaky breath.
"What the hell are you doing here?"
I flinched at the deep, venomous tone Xavier used.
"We're family," Xavier's twin shrugged, flashing him a boyish grin. "I missed you."
"Right. I'm sure you did."
"Andrew's been trying to ring you. Even stopped by. You ignoring us?"
"He came here?" Xavier growled, his jaw clenched.
"Oh," I piped up with a nervous laugh. "Yeah, about that..."
"He spoke to you?" he snapped, a vein in his neck sticking out. "And you didn't tell me?"
"I didn't know who he was," I defended myself. "He was creepy."
"What?" Chase asked in mock horror. "Creepy? He's like a puppy, right Xav?"
"What do you want?" Xavier asked, slightly exasperated. "Didn't think I was avoiding you for a reason?"
"Oh, I know the reason, brother. Andrew's sorry. He wants you to come back."
Xavier laughed, throwing his hands up. "Oh does he?"
"We both do," his brother grinned charmingly.
He reminded me so much of how Xavier was when he first came to live here, it was scary.
"Sure."
Chase stepped in, his eyes scanning the room, pausing at the candles. "Oh, date night tonight hey?" He began wiggling his eyebrows. "Cute robe, by the way."
It looked like Xavier was going to explode.
"Get the fuck out of my house," he hissed and my eyes were bulging from my head.
What the hell was going on?
I hadn't known they were on such bad terms.
"Your house?" Chase questioned. "Made yourself quite comfortable here, haven't you?"
"Please," Xavier croaked, looking distressed. "Don't do this. I'm not coming back. I thought I made that pretty clear."
"You did, you did," he nodded, leaning nonchalantly on the wall, folding his arms neatly over his chest. "Andrew doesn't like that you left."
"Too bad."
I took a second to peer at the boy in front of me. Now that I was paying closer attention, he was a bit broader than Xavier. His face was very similar, but slightly rounder and he had a large freckle on the bottom corner of his mouth. He had dark circles under his eyes and his knuckles were covered in bruises and dry scabs.
That told me one thing. He wasn't a good guy. And neither was Andrew, who I'm guessing, is Xavier's step father.
"How's nan? Heard you've been going to say g'day."
"Don't talk about her," he snarled, his fists balled at his sides. "You don't give a shit about her or me."
"Naw, Xav," Chase cooed, rolling his eyes. "You're always so dramatic."
"Am I?"
"Why do you go see her? Not like she knows who you are, anyway."
A growl-like sound tore from Xavier's throat and he lunged forward, slamming his brother into the wall behind him. I gasped, running over and grabbing the candles in case they fell and started a fire.
Suddenly, they were in a full brawl, ending up falling through the still-open front door.
"Get off him!" I cried out, trying to pull Xavier from him.
He was stronger than I thought. I stood there helplessly as the two brothers laid hits into each other, both grunting. Xavier was winning as he was in the position to pin Chase down. But Chase was that bit bigger, having strength as an advantage.
My helplessness changed when Chase suddenly got the upper hand and began pummeling Xavier's face. Having no idea what to do to stop, I came up with the genius idea to grab the hose.
Sprinting to the side of the house, I unreeled the hose. Yanking it roughly, I tugged at it as I rounded the corner.
Switching the nozzle to full blast, I squeezed the trigger. I'm not sure how it really worked, but Chase paused to look up and Xavier pushed him, before sending a kick straight into his chest. He fell back and they both stayed sprawled on the grass, breathless.
Feeling safer now, I dropped the hose and ran towards a now drenched Xavier. He had blood pouring down his face and his left eye was black and half closed.
"Oh my God," I cried, gripping his face. "Are you okay?"
"That really fucking hurt," he groaned, wincing as I bumped his nose.
"Sorry," I muttered, withdrawing my hand. "Come on, let's get you inside so I can clean you up."
Chase's laugh met my ears and I glowered at him as I helped Xavier to his feet.
"You still fight like a little girl."
Chase slowly got to his feet, still laughing.
I stalked towards him and without thinking, projected my fist straight into his face. He collapsed backwards onto the ground, obviously not expecting that at all.
"Yeah, little girl's can fight too, jack ass." I snapped, staring down at him with distaste. My hand ached instantly but I firmly ignored it. The pain was not new to me, obviously. I got into punch fights way too regularly. "If you didn't guess, that was me asking you to leave."
Chase groaned loudly. "I did not see that coming."
"Yeah, she can fight pretty good," Xavier said in the background.
I smiled smugly.
"Okay, things got off to a bad start," Chase said, once more, drawing to his full height. "Let's just go inside-"
"Get the hell off my yard before I call the police." My voice was deadly cold. "I don't ever want you to come here unless Xavier has asked you. I will not hesitate to get a restraining order."
"Faith," he said, planting his hands on his hips, addressing me like he knew me. His face was bruised and battered, but he looked better off then Xavier did. "You're being a bit dramatic."
"Don't mistake my gender and my height for weakness, Chase. I won't ask you again."
Raising his hands in a peace-like signal, he shrugged.
"Glad to see you've trained your guard dog well," Chase smirked. "I'll be back. Sooner than you might think."
I glared at him as hard as I could, as he turned and walked completely unhurried to his car. He shot us another smirk, before sliding into his SUV. I didn't move a muscle, until he reversed from the driveway and disappeared inside.
"Faith-"
"Get inside. Now." I barked, pointing at the door. "You have a lot of explaining to do."
***
So... Xavier has a brother. Who is a twin. What do you think about that?
And what do you think about his so-called step father?
And Faith's protectiveness over Xavier?
Thank you for reading!
