Chapter 34.
The school year was quickly coming to an end and I was getting more and more nervous about Luke's decision of whether or not he would move to California that fall. I knew that he was eventually going to give in and go, but I was worried about him at the same time. I wanted to trust Luke and believe that he could handle living alone, across the country, but after his little breakdown a few weeks ago I was beginning to have some doubts. I just didn't want something like that to happen again and have Luke be all alone.
"Where is Luke?" Michael asked, interrupting my thoughts. It was like he was reading my mind and knew that I was thinking about him.
"He left school early, he had a doctor appointment to go to." I explained. Michael and I were sitting alone at our usual lunch table, both of us struggling to find something to talk about. The two of us were kind of lost without Luke, who always seemed to raise a topic for conversation. When it was just Michael and I we usually resorted back to talking about Luke or Calum. Which was fun sometimes, but also pretty boring.
"A doctor appointment? Is he okay?" Michael raised an eyebrow. I could tell that Michael had taken a strong liking to Luke in the short time they had known each other by the way he was always looking out for Luke, which I found really adorable. Michael had always been like that, no matter what he was always caring for someone else.
"He's fine. It's just a check up, I think. He has to go once a month for his...stuff." I said, for lack of a better word.
"Oh, yeah. He's doing better, right?" Michael asked, showing genuine concern.
"I'd like to think so." I shrugged, my mind going back to what I had been thinking about before. "He hasn't had a bad breakdown in at least a few weeks."
"That's good." Michael nodded. He knew just a little about Luke and what was going on with him, Luke had explained it to him one day just so Michael would stop getting so worried. Luke didn't really mind talking about it anymore, which was nice because he was now a lot more comfortable talking about these types of things with Michael around.
"I worry about him sometimes." Michael said quietly.
"So do I." I sighed, agreeing with him.
"I'm sure he has a handle on things now, he's okay." Michael assured me.
Just as I was about to speak my phone vibrated in my back pocket, making me jump a little at the sudden feeling. I pulled it out, seeing a new message from Luke light up the screen.
The doctor says I'm all good!! I miss you :-( come over after school?
"Is that Luke?" Michael asked as I typed back a response. "You're smiling like an idiot."
"He puts a nose in all of his smiley faces, it creeps me out." I laughed.
"I think Calum did that to me once, I told him to knock it off." Michael said, laughing along with me.
"Aw, you and your boyfriend are so cute." I teased, knowing that Michael would get embarrassed about this. I honestly loved the relationship Calum and Michael had with each other, whether it was just friendly or not. I liked that Michael had found another guy friend to hang out with that wasn't as awful as Ashton.
"So are you and your - hey, Calum is not my boyfriend!" Michael stopped himself.
"You don't sound so sure about that." I said, now laughing harder than I was before.
"I'm totally sure." Michael frowned. He crossed his arms over his chest, leaning back in his chair.
"Don't think I didn't see that picture he sent you the other day." I smirked. Michael needed to learn to be a little bit more careful about where he leaves his phone.
"Stella!" Michael gasped, dropping his hands to his sides and leaning forward. "That wasn't anything!"
"Really, because I don't think friends send each other pictures of their - "
"He needed help with something. It's a guy thing, you wouldn't get it." Michael shook his head, trying hard to shut me up.
"Guys don't do that?" I laughed, saying it almost as a questioned instead of a statement.
"Some do! Leave me alone." Michael pouted, but there was no hiding the smile growing on his face.
"Luke thinks you and Calum would be cute together too." I shrugged. Michael smiled for a second as if he was actually thinking about him and Calum actually being in a relationship before he started glaring at me again.
"Luke can go fuck himself." Michael snapped.
"That's my job." I smiled, biting down on my bottom lip. I was in a surprisingly good mood today, despite how worried I had been in the past few weeks about Luke and his whole situation.
"You're disgusting! I'm literally going to kill you if you keep talking about this." Michael groaned.
"Fight me." I retorted, and Michael kicked me hard under the table. "Ow!"
"I'm not gay." Michael leaned in, lowering his voice.
"I never said you were." I said innocently to Michael, jokingly batting my eyelashes at him.
"You give me a headache." He sighed and ran his fingers through his hair, making it messier than before. "Don't you have something else to do?"
"Don't you have someone's dick to suck?" I asked.
"Yeah, your boyfriend's." Michael scoffed, standing up from his seat at the lunch table and pushing in his chair. He turned around and winked at me before he started to walk away.
I continued to laugh as I got up from my own seat and began to chase after Michael. "No, stay away from him!"
-
I went to Luke's house straight after school, eager to see him again even though I already had earlier that morning. I knocked on the front door and while I was waiting for it to be answered I silently prayed to myself that Luke would be home alone tonight.
Luke pulled the door open, a wide smile on his face as he greeted me. "Girlfriend!" He stepped forward, holding out his arms and inviting me to come towards him.
"Boyfriend!" I laughed, stepping forward and letting Luke's arms wrap around me.
"How are you today?" He mumbled, his lips finding their usual place on my forehead.
"I'm surprisingly in a better mood than I have been lately." I chuckled. I squirmed around in Luke's arms until he released me, allowing me to take off my shoes and leave them by the front door.
"So am I. I feel like everything's falling into place." Luke grinned. He took my hand and pulled me further into the house, leading me into the kitchen. He sat down on a chair at the table, a bag of popcorn there from where he must have been eating it before. Luke tugged me forward, causing me to sit down on his lap while he wrapped his arms around me from behind.
"You're so touchy today." I laughed.
"I'm not as touchy as I'd like to be." Luke said, moving his hands to my sides and squeezing gently.
"Is your mom still at work?" I asked. I turned around so I had one leg on either side of Luke's body. Luke bit his lip, smiling as I wrapped my arms around his neck.
"She will be for a few more hours." Luke said quietly. He leaned in and connected our lips, both of us smiling into the kiss. My fingers tangled themselves in Luke's hair, making Luke moan softly against my lips. His hands made their way up under my shirt, tickling my skin and leaving a trail of goosebumps.
"Let's do something." I said, after a few minutes, pulling away from Luke.
"Like what?" Luke asked. He brought his lips to my neck and left a few sloppy kisses before looking up at me again.
"I don't know," I laughed. "Anything."
"Let's do something that my mom wouldn't want us to do." Luke smirked. He lifted me off of him and stood up as well, grabbing my hands in his once more.
"Like?" I questioned.
Luke pulled me further into the kitchen, walking me over to the counter. He began to search through cabinets, not saying anything as I stood there and watched him. After a few seconds he pulled a bag of flour out of a cabinet, and I began to put what he was trying to do together.
"What are you doing?" I finally asked.
"We are going to bake a cake." Luke stated, pulling more ingredients out of various cabinets.
I stared back at him with a blank expression on my face, finding it hard to believe that after they way Luke was acting a few minutes ago all he wanted to do was bake a cake. "Are you serious?" I asked.
"I'm in the mood for cake." Luke shrugged.
I sighed. Baking a cake wasn't really what I had in mind for tonight, but I really didn't care. It would most likely end up being a lot more fun that I expected, especially because it was Luke that I would be baking the cake with.
About 20 minutes later and lots of bickering, Luke and I had finally put the cake in the oven. It was more work than I thought it would have been, considering the fact that Luke actually didn't know what he was doing and wouldn't listen to me when I tried to google a recipe. It was probably going to be the worst tasting cake ever, Luke even said so himself.
"The cake smells weird." I laughed. I was now sitting on the counter, swinging my legs back and forth while Luke tried to grab my feet in his hands.
"Only because you helped make it." Luke stuck his tongue out at me. He grabbed onto my foot while I struggled to get out of his grasp.
"That didn't make sense. The cake does not smell weird just because I helped make it." I rolled my eyes.
"I bet you added something to it that wasn't supposed to go in." Luke said, finally letting go of my foot. He turned around and walked back over to the pile of discarded ingredients on the counter. He picked up the bag of flour once again and came towards me again.
"I wouldn't know, you didn't let me use a recipe." I glanced between Luke and the bag of flour, already sensing what was coming.
"I already knew how to bake a cake, Stel!" Luke laughed loudly. He grabbed a handful of flour and threw it right at my face, covering me with the white powder and getting some stuck in my hair.
"Hey!" I whined. I hopped down from the counter and maneuvered around Luke until I was able to grab my own handful of flour, throwing some in Luke's direction. It missed his face but did get all over his shirt, almost making it look white rather than black.
"You look a little pale." Luke laughed, holding the bag of flour above his head. I tried to jump up to reach it, but it was no use. Luke was practically a giant compared to me.
Luke reached up himself and took out some more flour, pinching it between his fingers as he flicked some more on me. He hit my shirt this time, which was fine with me. Anywhere was better than my face, I hated the feeling of things sticking to my skin like that.
A few minutes later we had calmed ourselves down and Luke had set the flour back down on the counter, ending our little war. He handed me a towel to wipe off my face, ridding me of most of the flour. He then began to wash up the other dishes we had dirtied during our cake-baking. It was while I was sat leaning against the counter watching Luke clean that I got an idea.
"I'm going to go take a shower." I said slowly, hoping Luke would he able to catch on.
"Have fun." Luke muttered as I walked away, his voice just barely able to be heard over the running water of the sink.
I walked away from Luke, knowing that he would figure out what I was acting asking for sooner or later. By the time I had reached the bottom of the stairs I heard the water turn off and Luke's footsteps coming closer.
"You're going to what?" He asked, running towards me.
I took off running up the stairs, peeling my shirt off of my body as I ran. Luke chased after me, going up the steps two at a time to try and catch up to me. I turned around and threw my flour-covered shirt at Luke, laughing as it landed right on top of his head.
"Is this a present for me? Do I get to keep this?" Luke laughed, stopping for a second to take the shirt off of him.
"I have another present for you, I think you'll like that one better." I called as I walked down the hall. I stripped off my clothes as I walked, leaving them all sprawled across the floor until I reached Luke's bathroom. Once I was inside I took off my bra and underwear and hopped into the shower, turning on the water without waiting for Luke.
"Ah!" I heard Luke shriek from down the hall. "Pants!"
"Hurry up!" I yelled.
"I'm literally walking as fast as I can. Jesus, Stel." Luke laughed, finally coming into the bathroom. I moved the shower curtain to the side just enough so I could peak my head out and talk to Luke.
"Are you coming in?" I asked, running my fingers through my hair as the water beat down on me.
"Are you naked?" Luke gulped.
"Uh, yeah." I laughed, looking down at myself. "Would you rather that I took a shower while fully clothed?"
"No, no. Definitely not." Luke smirked. He pulled his shirt off over his head, letting it drop to the floor next to him. His actions seemed to be extremely slow, either he was nervous or just purposely teasing me.
"Are you trying to move this slowly?" I asked, rolling my eyes. I stepped fully back into the shower again, giving Luke a minute to get himself undressed without me staring at him.
"Do I need a condom?" Luke called. He had been fiddling around with the belt buckle on his pants, but he stopped as soon as he started speaking.
"Do you want to get me pregnant?" I questioned.
"I was just wondering. I mean, we'll be in water and all, I was sure if it canceled out or something." Luke chuckled nervously. I tried not to laugh too hard, but it was really difficult for me to hold it all in.
"Your penis doesn't turn off the ability to get me pregnant just because we're having sex in a shower this time." I said in between laughs, pushing my hair back from my face.
"It was a very valid question!" Luke snapped. "I didn't pay very much attention in sex-ed, I could have missed the lesson or something."
"Go get a condom!" I snapped back, listening to see if I could hear Luke's footsteps leaving the room.
"I'll - I'll be right back." Luke stammered as he quickly left the bathroom. He returned a few seconds later, announcing loudly that he had found a condom.
"What's taking you so long?" I asked after another few minutes. If I wasn't already in the shower I probably would have just said to forget about all of this, since it was getting harder for me to stay in the mood.
"I'm trying to get my belt off." Luke said. I peaked my head out from behind the shower curtain again, wondering what could be so complicated about this belt that Luke couldn't get it off.
"I didn't even know you wore belts with your pants." I quietly laughed to myself at the sight of Luke struggling with this. It didn't look like the belt buckle was unusually complicated, just that Luke's fingers couldn't grasp onto it the right way.
"Well I've lost so much weight that now none of my pants fit so I have to wear belts so I'm not pulling my pants up every 5 seconds." Luke explained. He let out a small laugh himself, finally getting the belt undone. "There we go!"
"Finally." I giggled, shutting the curtain once more.
A few seconds later Luke was pulling the shower curtain aside, now free of all of his clothes. He smiled as he let the water hit him, flattening out his hair so it wasn't in it's usual quiff anymore. Luke wrapped his arms around my waist, pressing my naked body up against his. He brought his lips to mine, keeping the kiss fast and hungry as he backed me up against the wall of the shower.
"Oh my god," Luke mumbled against my lips. "Can cakes burn? I feel like our cake is going to burn..."
