Prologue
Her POV
Lash after lash, the leather whip came down on her fragile skin, making marks that were sure to stay for life.
Question after question, the unrelenting men asked her.
Yet, she never uttered a word, never flinched as the sound of the whip filled the room, making even the toughest of the people cringe and pity her.
Just a mere months ago, she would scream and cry and plead. But now, she just laid there with her emotionless face and dull, flat eyes, that once held so much love, so much kindness, so much happiness.
She laid there, unresponsive, as if a numbness had taken over her body and mind.
The other prisoners noticed that the guards were much more aggressive today than any other day. Perhaps because they were in the middle of another war with her pack, that went on above their heads. Or perhaps it was because their alpha was to return today and expected answers.
But little did they know, the girl, the broken girl that laid in the cell next to theirs, who would scream to the world that she didn't know anything, really did not know the answers they are looking for.

His POV
He should be happy that he found his brother, who he had feared dead, safe and sound resting in an ally pack, with only a scar to remind him of the heartless pack who attacked him, and he was but he was also anxious.
He didn't understand why, until he was back home, and down in the dungeon, and his brother pointed to a girl, saying that she saved his life, the girl who was his mate, the girl who was broken.
Perhaps, I should start from the beginning, before they met, before the girl lost hope and before the boy lost happiness.
