Anniversary

Micheal's POV

Today's the day of Ryan and Anna's anniversary and I'm taking Leanne to their grave. She hasn't been there since the first time and I'm really worried about her breaking down like last time, but even though I hate to see her upset, It wouldn't be fair of me to tell her she can't go. Not that she needs my permission anyway.

She hasn't mentioned anything about Maria and I haven't brought it up to her yet because of her parents anniversary and Mary's trial is tomorrow, but we do need to talk about it and start making arrengments for her funeral, but I thought it would be best to wait until after the trail to talk to her about it and my family agreed that now wouldn't be the best time.

We've spoken a little about the trail, but like always with Leanne she'll talk about it for a moment then quickly change the topic which is why I'm so worried about tomorrow because when we're in court, she's gonna have to go into detail about everything. Myself and my family have prepared her as much as we can, but it took her months to tell me what was going on and even then she didn't tell me the whole story for a long time after which is why I'm worried about what will happen tomorrow when she has to stand up in front of a courtroom full of strangers and go into details about about happened to her and what Mary put her through.

After making us both some breakfast, I go upstairs to wake Leanne and as I'm about to go into our room I hear the bathroom door open.

"Hey, I thought you were still sleeping" I smile slightly. "I woke up awhile ago. I just wanted to take a shower before we leave" she smiles at me through pursed lips. "How are you feeling?" I ask softly. "I'm ok" she shrugs "I'm really hungry though"

"Breakfast is downstairs. I'll meet you down there" I smile through pursed lips and leave her to get dressed.

After a few minutes Leanne comes downstairs and so far she hasn't mentioned anything about her parents and has mainly been talking about baby stuff.

"I can't wait until the next ultrasound. We get to find out the gender next time!" She smiles excitedly then suddenly goes silent. "Are you ok?"

"Mhm. I just remembered I forgot to get flowers for my parents"

"That's ok, the flower store down the street has really nice ones, i'll walk over and get some"

"It's ok I can go" she smiles getting up from her seat "i'll be back in a moment"

"I don't mind going for you"

"I'll be fine. Plus I already know the kind I want" she smiles then goes quiet again and looks like she's about to cry.

"Baby, if it's too much for you, we don't have to go" I say softly wrapping my arms around her. "I'll be ok" she smiles at me through pursed lips. "I'll be back in a minute" she says putting her coat on to leave. "Why don't I come with you" I suggest and she shakes her head. "I'll be ok. I just need a moment alone" she mutters and I nod. "I'll be right here waiting for you" I smile and peck her lips and she kisses me back the same way then turns and leaves.

Leannes POV

After a few minutes of walking around, I find the flower shop and I'm just about to go inside when I hear someone call my name and turn to see a very heavily pregnant Lisa on the other end of the street, making her way over to me and I turn and quickly make my way inside before she gets any closer.

After looking around for a while, I find the perfect flowers which my mom and Dad will love then go to the counter to pay for them.

"Someone's birthday?" The man behind the counter asks as I'm paying for the flowers. "Umm.. my parents anniversary" I smile at him through pursed lips. "I'm sure they'll love these. How long have they been married?"

"About 30 years I think" I reply a little unsure "they got married a long time before I was born"

"Well tell them I said congratulations" he smiles "I will" I smile back and leave. I didn't want to go into detail about exactly what kind of anniversary it was for my parents, but when he assumed it was their wedding I went along with it because it felt really good hearing someone talking about my parents like they were still here.

I'm about to leave the store to go home, but I'm stopped and see Lisa standing outside waiting for me and sigh heavily then walk out and keep walking without saying anything.

"Leanne?" Lisa calls me back and I roll my eyes and turn to face her. "What!?" I say with an attitude. "Umm...How are you?" She asks a little unsure what to say. "Sorry to disappoint you, but I'm alive and well... as you can see" I say sarcastically. "I really am sorry for what I did. I know I told Micheal all of this already, but I wanted to say I'm sorry to you personally and..."

"When did you see Micheal?" I frown confused "a few days ago. I'm sorry I assumed he'd told you"

"Clearly he didn't"

"I really am sorry" she says again "whatever. I have to go" I roll my eyes and turn to leave, uninterested in her apology. "I guess i'll see you in court tomorrow then"

"Your gonna be at the trail?" I turn back to her and she nods. "And hopefully we can get her locked away for a long time after we say what she put us through"

"Us?" I look at her confused. "Your not the only one that suffered and was trapped in that place I was too remember? and she made my life hell, just like she did yours... only I didn't get a happy ending" she mumbles that last part. "I can't even get or job and I have no idea who the father of my child is and... "

"So what the fuck do you want me to do about it?" I shrug cutting her off. "Nothing. I'm just saying that your not the only person that's suffered. I did too and still am because of..."

"Oh my god! Are you serious!?" I snap cutting her off again. "Lisa, I told you to leave the brothel while you could, just like the others told you, but you refused to listen. You being there was your own damn fault and as for your little pity story about no job and not knowing who your baby's dad is. That was always gonna happen because you were nothing but a trashy whore that couldn't keep her legs closed long before any of that! you were always gonna end up the way you did because you deserve it just like Mia was always gonna end up a dirty little drug addict" I snap and she looks at me confused and shocked by what I just said. "How did you know about Mia?"

"It doesn't matter, but the fact is. Karma's a bitch and you both got what you deserved and I don't have even the slightest bit of sympathy for either of you and as for you going to court tomorrow. That's not gonna change anything because you make think that trying to help get Mary sent away for a long time is gonna erase what you've done or make you a better person in some way, but it won't! It just makes you a cunt that's trying to do a nice thing"

"I..."

"I don't wanna hear anymore of your bullshit or your sob stories" I cut her off. "You should just be thankful, I haven't fucked you up for what you did to me. And you coming over hear telling me your gonna stand up in court tomorrow doesnt mean shit to me. I'll deal with Mary tomorrow and as for you! Stay the fuck away from me and stay away from my man because if you come anywhere near either of us again I swear it'll be the last thing you ever do. Do you understand?" I frown and she nods, not saying anything. "Then why the fuck are you still standing in front of me?" I shrug with an attitude and she doesn't say anything and walks away from me.

Michael's POV

It's only been 15 minutes, but the store is only down the street and Leanne still hasn't come back yet and I'm really starting to worry and regret letting her go out alone, especially today.

I'm about to call her phone when the front door opens. "Your back" I sigh in relief. "I was just about to call... what's happened?" I ask sensing something. "I just ran into Lisa" she mutters then tells me what happened.

"I'm really sorry I didn't tell you about seeing Lisa, but it was just that one time, I swear and I told her I couldn't help her. I did give her some money, but only because it was raining and I couldn't let her walks the streets in the rain while she's pregant and..."

"It's fine" she cuts me off and I look at her confused and she wraps her arms around my neck and pecks my lips. "I'm upset you didn't tell me, but I'm not mad at you for giving a pregant woman money for a cab so she can get home safe. You would have done the same thing if any pregant woman had asked you for help"

"I guess" I shrug. "That's because you have such a kind heart, but giving money to Lisa is like feeding a stray dog. You feed them once and they never go away and keep following behind you begging for more and the best thing you can do is not keep feeding it and call an animal shelter and let them deal with it" she shrugs. "You want me to call the dog catcher on Lisa?" I frown confused and she giggles slightly, shaking her head. "Of course not. I just want her to stay away from us"

"I swear if she tries to contact me again, I won't speak to her and i'll tell you straight away"

"Thank you" she smiles and pecks my lips then breaks away. "We should probably get going"

I wasn't surprised that Leanne flipped out at Lisa the way she did, because she's clearly been holding all that in for a long time. If it had been anybody else then I would feel bad and tell Leanne she was out of line for some of the things she said, but considering Lisa kidnapped her and tried to murder her I'm pretty sure that it kinda gives Leanne a free pass to say whatever she wants to her.

We're in the car on the way to the cemetery and at first Leanne was really quiet and looked like she was about to burst into tears, but when we got close to her old neighbourhood she seemed a little more relaxed and started telling me little stories about places as we pass them.

I thought bringing her around this area again would be too upsetting for her, but it seemed to be cheering her up and I love all the little stories she's been telling me on the way because she doesn't often speak about her parents, but when she does her face always lights up and even though she's been through hell the last few years, she still holds so many memories from her childhood and from the things she's told me, Anna and Ryan were amazing parents and her life was filled with happiness and love and I really hope I'll be a good parent to our children. I probably wouldn't be as great as Ryan and Anna was, but I do hope I'm even half a good.

When we get to the cemetery, I sit on the bench that's a little distance from her parents grave so Leanne can have some alone time with her parents and as I'm looking, Leanne is in front of their grave, sitting with her legs crossed. I can't hear what she's saying, but from where I'm sitting it looks like she's having a conversation.

After about and hour it starts getting really cold and Leanne gets up and comes back over to me. "Are you ready to go?" I ask getting up from the bench and she nods. I'm really curious about what Leanne was saying to her parents, but I didn't ask her because it was a personal moment between her and her parents and I'd feel like I was being disrespectful if I were to question her about it.

"I'm um... I wanna go back to my old house" Leanne says and I look at her confused. "Mary never managed to sell it after... what happened there" she mumbles that last part. "And I still have a key"

"I really don't think that's such a good idea" I shake my head. "I need to do this" she mutters. "For what? All going there is gonna do is upset you"

"Because I've been avoiding it and trying to block it out, but I have to face it because if I don't then i'll never get closure" she says and I don't say anything for a moment then nod. "If your sure your ready" I say softly and she nods.

After about 5 minutes of driving, we get to a large house on a really nice looking neighbourhood.

"This is a beautiful home" I smile, looking around the living room. "Thanks. We all decorated it together" Leanne smiles, looking around then goes upstairs and I follow behind her.

We go into the first room and it's all pink and has a princess theme. "I'm assuming this was your room" I smile looking around and she nods and goes over to her bed and picks up a teddy bear and carries it out with her into the next room which looks like it was her parents then goes into one of the closets and starts looking through things.

"What are you looking for?" I ask curiously walking over. "My mom made these when she was pregnant with me" she smiles taking out some white and yellow baby blankys. "I'd rather have these than the ones we can by in the store. I'd rather use blanky's that were made with love" she smiles, looking through them "I'd like that too. I think my mom still has some she made for me and my siblings"

"Do you think she'll let us have them?" She smiles "I don't see why not" I smile back. "I'm gonna get a few more things and then we can go home" she smiles going back to her room still carrying the teddy bear. "Is it ok if I get some water before we leave?"

"Sure. You don't have to ask" she giggles slightly then continues what she's doing.

I go down into the kitchen then suddenly stop getting a chill down my spine as i'm about to enter the room, remembering what the police report said happened in there. The whole place is spotless and there's nothing to suggest anything ever happened in here, but knowing in detail what did happen makes me feel really unsure whether I should go in or not.

"Hey, are you ready to..." Leanne begins then stops staring blanky into the kitchen. "We um... we should probably getting going" I mutter and take her hand to lead her away.

"It's fine" she smiles through pursed lips and I can see the nervousness on her face as she walks over towards the sink. "You don't have to. I'm even that thirsty" I say softly and she doesn't say anything and continues getting a glass of water and brings it over to me.

We get back in the car and Leanne doesn't say anything and sits silently, holding the bear close to her chest. "Is he special to you?" I ask and she looks at me confused. "The bear" I glance over then turn back to the road.

"My dad won him for me at the fair. It was one of those games where you have to get the little ball in the target. I kept trying, but I couldn't win so my dad stayed there for like an hour until he finally got him for me and after that I'd always carry him everywhere I went and wouldn't sleep without him" she explains then turns and smiles slightly. "You'll never guess what his name is"

"What?"

"Mikey" she giggles "Are you serious?" I smile "mhm. My mom even stitched his name into his foot" she smiles showing me.

When we get home, Leanne goes upstairs to put her things away then comes back down. "I just spoke to Emma. I told her I'd go and see her for awhile while she's on her lunch break"

"I don't think that would be such a good idea" I say hesitantly "I'm only gonna be like and hour" she shrugs. "But, you've already been through enough today especially with going to your old house and Lisa and..."

She pecks my lips cutting me off then smiles slightly. "I'm absolutely fine. I had to face it eventually and now I just need to deal with Mary and My grandma"

"What do you mean deal with them?" I frown confused. "I mean. Now I've got closure on my parents. All have to do now is deal with this trial and organise a funeral for my grandma and then I can finally move on and start looking to the future" she smiles and I don't say anything for a moment. "I'll be back in an hour and if it makes you feel better i'll take the car and drive so I won't have to worry about running into Lisa or anybody else"

"Call me as soon as you get there ok?" I sigh heavily, still unsure if I should and she nods "I love you" she smiles and kisses me softly. "I love you more" I smile kissing her back the same way.

Leanne's POV

"Hey. Just letting you know I got here safe"

"Is Emma with you?"

"She's just finishing up before her lunch break. I'll be back soon"

"Ok. I love you"

"I love you more" I smile down the phone then hang up. "Excuse me Ms. You'll need to hand over your phone before you go inside" an officer says coming over to me and I nod switching it off then hand it over to him and follow him to the visiting room.

Micheal's POV

It's been over an hour and Leanne still isn't back and I'm really starting to worry and regret letting her go.

After a few more minutes go by I try and call her, but her phone is switched off then try and call the hotel.

"Hello. Jackson's hotel. How can I help you?"

"Is this Emma?"

"Who's this?"

"It's Micheal. Is Leanne still with you?"

"No. why would...."

"I'm back!" I hear Leanne call as she walks through the front door and I quickly hang up and go over to her. "Finally" I sigh in relief "Where have you been. I've been trying to call you. How come your phones switched off? I bought you a new one so you obviously switched it off"

"I told you where I was and my battery was low so I switch it off. Sorry I took so long. I stopped by the pizza place for us on the way back" she says handing me the pizza's.

"I'm sorry. I just get worried when your gone and I can't get hold of you"

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to worry you" she smiles slightly and wraps her arms around me. "It's ok. Your back now. That's what's important" I say softly pulling her in closer to me.
