Chap 10

~

"Forth, let me see, na. I don't like closing my eyes," whined Beam as he tried to remove the cloth around his eyes.

His so-called husband has tied his eyes and bought him somewhere.

"Wait for a few more minutes, Beam," replied Forth as he carefully guided Beam.

"Now, slowly open your eyes," said Forth as he finally removed the cloth and stood loyal beside Beam.

When Beam gained his vision and could see clearly, his jaws dropped. He was standing in front of a bungalow-like house which was so grand and beautiful.

"Ai'Forth, who's house is this? Why are we here?" asked Beam, confused and also curious.

"It's our home, Beam," answered Forth with his gummy smile and pride.

"Forth, what do you mean? Isn't this the project you've been working on in secret all this time? Did you lie to me?" asked Beam with no emotion on his face.

"The secret project was building our home, Beam. A place that we can call our home. Where we could return whenever we please and don't you like it, Beam?" questioned Forth, scared of Beam's reaction.

"I love it," shouted Beam happily as he jumped and hugged his husband after scaring him shitless with his poker face.

Forth laughed as he rotated in rounds with Beam in his arms merrily.

"Hoi, I'm getting light-headed. Put me down," said Beam as he chuckled.

"You scared me there, baby," said Forth as he kissed his forehead lovingly.

"Punishment for keeping it secret from me," replied Beam, giggling as he pulled Forth to tour around the house.

"Don't you think this house is a bit big for us?" asked Beam as he calmed down.

"It's the right size for you, me, our future kids and dogs," answered Forth confidently.

"Future kids and dogs-ah?? Aren't you going a bit too fast, Mr Jaturapoom?" asked Beam as he smiled at his husband sweetly.

"Not at all. Even though I have a lifetime with you, it's never enough for me. No matter how old I get, watching you and living with you is my utmost goal. I promised to be with you till the very end," replied Forth seriously, which made Beam chuckle.

"You better keep the promise, na," said Beam as he hugged his husband emotionally.

~

Suddenly he was in the ocean, trying so hard to stay calm.

~

The image of a signboard named Blue Flames is burning at the corner.

~

"Where is he?" shouted Beam, who just got onto the burning ship to the running away engineers.

"Get away from the tower?" shouted back the marine engineers, who were on the run.

~

//BRAK! BRAK!//

The tower toppled right beside Forth, who made it out of it, which caused him to wobble along the edge of the marine ship. People can't spot his face clearly due to the dark smoke. Any moment now, he could drop into the ocean.

~

The injured Forth was tackled due to the fire as he tried to stand up, and he quivered as the ship went through the turbulence.

//Splash//

"No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

~

And Beam woke up with a jerk as he tried hard to breathe normally. No matter how sweet and good his dreams start, it always ends with him seeing Forth falling into the sea from the burning ship.

He gets up from his bed to get water to calm his racing mind. He found it hard to ignore the fact that his nightmares were frequent lately and got detailed.

It was raining lazily outside, and it made him feel gloomy.

On his way back to the room, he saw his grandpa watching the rain.

Although Beam was not close to Grandpa Mew as he used to be, he decided to check up on him.

"Grandpa, what are you doing here?" he questioned softly.

Grandpa Mew turned around, startled as he was sure none was downstairs before he came there.

He calmed down as he saw his grandson looking at him worriedly with his big doe eyes.

"Owh, I couldn't sleep so I was watching the rain. Why are you still awake?" he asked as he checked Beam's face.

Usually, Beam looks so white, and people used to mistake him for looking pale and having iron deficiency. But Beam was healthy and was well nourished.

"Don't you get enough rest nowadays? You have eye bags," pointed out Grandpa Mew, concerned.

"I was not getting enough sleep due to semester exam week, Grandpa," Beam lied to him.

He couldn't tell him that he was having a nightmare-like sweet dream every day and waking up scared.

He would never inform him that he is nervous for an unknown reason nowadays and worried about it. Then his grandpa will parcel him out of the country again, and this time, he couldn't return like he used to.

They both just stood beside each other as they watched the rain silently. After being quiet for a while, Grandpa Mew decided to ask his grandson regarding his schedule to rearrange the family gathering with Phana.

"Beam, will you be free during the weekend next week?" he asked reluctantly.

A part of Mew wants Beam to disagree. So that he could protect him like he always did, but then another part of him wants his grandson to reunite with his old friends even if Beam doesn't remember them.

"I'll be in semester break. So, yeah, I'll be a free grandpa. But, why are you asking?" he asked politely.

"We are going for a gathering on the weekend next week with our old friends, and I want to introduce you to them. Are you okay with following us and meeting them?" asked Grandpa Mew gently.

He could be the strict grandpa, but he never forced Beam to do anything so far, excluding parcelling him out of the country. If we count that part out, then he is the perfect grandpa.

"Is that compulsory to join, grandpa?" he asked softly.

"It's not. But, I'll be happy if you join us," stated Grandpa Mew as he stroked his hair gently.

"Okay, Grandpa. I'll follow you guys," replied Beam as he smiled.

"Thank you, Beam," said Grandpa Mew as he hugged him.

It's been so long since they chatted casually like this. Although Grandpa Mew could be strict and scary, Beam remembers playing with him all night and sleeping on his lap as he heard his lullaby in childhood.

He respects and loves him the same as his other grandpas.

"Why did you leave me alone?" comes a whining voice as his Grandpa Gulf got down from his room to hug his husband.

"Yai Nong, why did you wake up? Go back to bed," advises Grandpa Mew as he returns the hug.

"Khun Phi was not by my side. The bed got cold. Let's get back to sleep, na," he whined again, unaware of the giggling grandson behind his husband.

"Yai Nong, behave in front of our grandson, na," warned Grandpa Mew softly.

Grandpa Gulf looked past Grandpa Mew as he glared at Beam.

Don't get him wrong.

He gets grumpy whenever someone or something disturbs his sleep and hates it, even more when he can't be possessive of his husband.

Beam, who understood the meaning behind the glare, quickly bid his goodnights to the grandpas as he ran back to his room.

"Yai Nong, why are you scaring off the poor child with your glare?" asked Grandpa Mew as he hugged him while chuckling a bit.

"Fancy how it's coming from you," replied Grandpa Gulf grumpily.

"Owh, Ma, ma, let's get back to bed," consoled Grandpa Mew as he guided his sleepy husband back to their room upstairs.

~

Time sure flies during the exam week. One week of exam week was gone just like that, and their semester break will start next Monday.

Beam has one last group assignment to submit before the semester break, while Forth has one last event to conduct in engineering faculty.

As Beam was zoning out with his own thoughts, Leo shook him.

"Beam, Ai' Beam...," he shook him continuously until Beam got pulled out of his deep thoughts.

"Hah-! Sorry. What were you saying?" Beam asked.

"Not me, him," replied Leo as he pointed at his group mate.

"Sorry, Siant, what were you saying again?" he asked.

"I asked if you will join the football event at the engineering tomorrow?" Saint repeated his question for Beam.

"Ohh, I haven't decided yet," answered Beam while Leo excitedly said,

"I'll be there to support my boyfriend."

"Okok. If you both stop by and are free, join me in the medical tent there. We might need extra hands," added Siant tiredly.

"It's just a football match, meng. What could go wrong, right?" asked Leo curiously and doubtfully.

"In this university, anything to do with engineering will never go right. I swear there will be at least a dozen sprained legs and a couple of broken noses," commented Saint, like it's ordinary there.

"You're kidding, right?" asked Leo expecting it to be a joke.

"Nope, those wolfs are hard to control. Engineering kids are always like that," said Beam as he smiled, remembering his dreams.

Saint laughed hearing that as he remembered the last year's event while Leo stared at Beam sceptically.

"How do you know that?" asked Leo as he looked at him suspiciously.

"Forth told me," Beam lied as he quickly diverted the topic and avoided eye contact with Leo. It's hard to hide things from him once he pays extra attention to them.

Beam has been trying to find the house he saw in his dreams since his exams ended.

Sometimes he would lie to Leo and Forth as he searched for that house in his dreams. He would return home late past 12 after driving around the city all night.

He couldn't sleep calmly with his nightmares, and the nagging feeling in his heart was not helping.

Beam now knows that his dreams are not just dreams but more like the fragrance of his past self.
When Beam finally figured out about this, it was not shocking to him.

Because He always believed in reincarnation.

But, there should be a reason for him to remember that now. There should be something he needs to complete or figure out. Or else it would be such a waste to have the memories.

That's why Beam personally felt that finding out about that house could give him some closure to his weird dreams. But no matter how long he circled around the city, he couldn't find anything familiar to his nightmares.

Its been some time since his dad asked for time from him, and he decided to not depend on him anymore or expect an answer.

He got to figure this out by himself. He didn't know if he should discuss this with Forth or confront him about the phobias and dreams.

He is just so confused.

~

The next day, On the day of the football match,

"Beam, where were you last night?" asked Leo as they both got down from Beam's car. Beam decided to attend the event to support his boyfriend after all.

"I was with Forth on a date. I told you before leaving for my date, remember," asked Beam as he avoided Leo's accusing eyes.

"You were not. I know because Forth was with Fiat and the other juniors for practice. Leave yesterday out. Where are you going every night?" asked Leo once again.

He noticed Beam reaching home late almost every night, and he also sometimes saw Beam leave the house at midnight and sneak back to his room by 4 am.

He is looking too stressed for someone who just finished his semester exams. He should be happy and relaxed after the exam, but no. He is only getting pale by day and looks so damn stressed-out.

Leo knows Beam is doing something behind his family and him. But he doesn't know what. And Beam has been restless and looked way too pale since this morning.

"Leo, don't ponder too much. I had my date with Forth here at the campus, like a supporting boyfriend I am," reasoned Beam with his significant smile, which he uses to assure the other that he is alright.

He also hides the truth that he left right after 15 past ten last night to continue looking for that house.

But this time, Leo could see through the fake smile behind the tired eyes.

As Leo was about to question him again, Beam's phone rang and helped him to escape Leo.

"Hye, babe. Are you here already?" asked Forth as he watched his juniors practice before the final match.

"I'm at the entrance with Leo. Will be there in a few minutes," he replied, smiling.

Yes. Beam felt anxious about his relationship with Forth and worried about his dreams which interconnected with Forth. But just hearing his mere voice could make his day a lot better.

"I'm at the field with the juniors. They progressed to the finals. Meet you there," said Forth as he hung up the call after getting an "I'll be there" reply from Beam.

Beam pulled Leo towards the field without letting him try to bring up the previous topic. Leo, who noticed how excited Beam was despite his tired face, just followed along.

Beam and Leo reached the field in less than five minutes. They stayed back to motivate their boyfriend's teams in the football match until the sunset.

For the final prize-giving ceremony, the main sponsor of the engineering faculty with the dean joined them. Forth went out to invite them personally as the event organizer, while Beam and Leo went to help pack up the medical tent.

"Ai' Beam, you okay?" asked Saint as he saw how pale Beam looked at the moment.

He could pass the audition for a vampire role.

"I'm good, meng. Just tired, I guess," replied Beam as he quickly changed the topic.

He felt better when he spent time with Forth and the engineering boys by the field, but towards the sunset, his heart was restless again, and Beam felt like he was going to get a panic attack.

"Let's get back to the field for the prize-giving ceremony since the work is over," said one of their member as they left the tent to cheer for the winner.

As Beam was standing by the sideline with his friends, he started to sweat profusely and felt it hard to breathe.

Leo, who stood beside Beam, noticed Beam's weird demeanour. He recognized the signs that Beam gets before his attacks while he had nightmares. But he didn't know why Beam was having it now.

"Beam, what's happening to you?" questioned Leo as he held his arms protectively.

"Leo, I can't breathe-" before Beam could continue, massive fire confetti burst as the opening gig, right beside Beam.

The firework from the confetti made Beam tense, and the flashes of the burning ship made their way.

Beam was on the edge of getting a panic attack and fell to the ground while grunting in pain while holding his head as his traumatic phobia made its epic entrance.

~

Beam, It's not safe to follow me offshore this time. I can handle this.

I can help you with this, Forth.

~

Pass these files to local police and wait with Kit in the lab. I'll come back to get you there.

Make it back to me safely, Forth. Please be safe.

~

Kit, I have to go.

Beam, don't take the extreme risk. Forth told you to wait here. At least, let's wait for Phana.

~

I can't be late. I'm coming for you, Forth.

~

The image of a signboard named Blue Flames is burning at the corner.

~

"Where is he?" shouted Beam, who just got onto the burning ship to the running away engineers.

~

//BRAK! BRAK!//

~

"AHHH," Beam cried in so much pain. The flashes kept coming, and he felt like dying with the pain.

The screaming voice from the marine ship with flashes clashing with the new memories made Beam's head hurt like it was going to split.

"Beam, Beam, can you hear me? Where are your meds?" asked Leo in panic as well. Thi situation is new to him as well.

"Fo-Forth..." he called, weakly, as he tried to open his eyes to look for him.

The pain was bearable the last time Forth was around at the seashore. The loud ringing and the flashes stopped when Forth held him in his arms.

But what Beam saw while looking for Forth in his weak state made his pain intensify and speed up the flashes.

~

Khun Kong, you could solve this issue by helping us. Why aren't you doing anything?

Khun, I owe my uncle this much.

~

He saw Khun Kong shoot Forth at his chest as he fell into the deep blue ocean.

~

"No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Beam's eyes rolled back into his skull as he fainted in Leo's arms due to immense pain.

The last view his eyes had was Forth guiding the CEO of the Blue Pheonix, Khun Kong, to the main stage for the prize-giving ceremony while he chatted freely with him.
