Applin

The trees rustled in the wind as the peaceful afternoon air was something you missed your time away from your hometown, Kitakami. You were attending the Blueberry Academy and were back during summer vacation. Your family was responsible for the apple orchard Kitakami had taken care of for generations.

"(Y/N)!" Your mother called down from the line of trees. "I made lunch! Come take a break!"

"Coming!" You called back to your mother as you were finishing up picking the apples from the stem. As you lifted up your basket, it was rather heavy as you leaned back against the tree a little. "Geez, I might have gotten carried away."

Suddenly, from the trees up ahead, you heard a strange noise coming down your direction. It sounded like something rolling down the hill...

"Look out!" A voice called out of nowhere, making you jump as you didn't recognize it. By the time you saw the human-like object rolling down at you, it was too late as they smacked you clear as day.

The basket filled with the apples you picked went flying as some rolled down the hill while others flew across the orchard in all different directions. The fruits of your hard labor were gone in an instant. You could feel the bruises starting to form on your body as you stood up, glaring down at the unknown person.

"What was that for? Thanks a lot, now half of the apples I picked are probably most likely bruised!" You said, glaring down at them as they got up on their feet.

"I am so, so sorry." It was a little boy with red hair and green eyes with a green tail poking out from under his pants. "I got carried away with my friends and ended up rolling down the hill by going too fast."

You screamed at the sight of their appearance and stepped back from them. "W-What the?! A-Are you even human?!"

The little boy looked up at you puzzled, but then giggled soon after. "I'm an Applin! At least, a Pokemon turned into a human."

"Oh..." you relaxed as you heard about the strange occurrence happening around all the other regions. It was rare, but apparently it could happen to any type of Pokemon for some strange odd reason. "I can't believe our humble village has a human Pokemon."

You walked around Applin, studying his appearance. It was clear the rumors were true as the only thing that stuck out about him was his tail that all other Applin's had on them. Applin giggled as you kept walking around him.

"I am sorry about crashing into you. Let me make it up to you, (Y/N)."

You paused as you watched Applin grab the basket from nearby and start picking up the apples nearby. "Wait... how did you know my name?"

"Oh, that's easy. All of the Pokemon living in the orchard know you (Y/N)." Applin looked up at you with beaming eyes. "You may not remember, but you helped me with an injury when you were little! Then again, not that I could blame you for forgetting since all of us Applin look the same."

A faint memory popped up inside your head as you recalled healing a rather reckless Applin from time to time when you were a little kid. It was always swinging around the orchard playing with the other Pokemon that lived there as well. While it was reckless, you didn't mind healing up the Applin as you always thought it was a cute Pokemon.

"Oh... I think I remember you." You mumbled as you picked up the apples scattered around the grass. "To think you're still causing trouble even when I'm away..."

~~~
The both of them managed to pick up all the apples they could find as you finally ate your sandwich your mother had made you. It was a sweet sandwich with, of course, apple slices to go with it as you munched down on it.
Applin looked at you with bright eyes, making you give him a strange look as you munched on your sandwich. "Yes...?"
Applin looked hesitant to say what he wanted, but shook his head as he looked at you with beaming eyes. "You should take me as one of your Pokemon!"
You choked on your sandwich a little bit before grabbing your water bottle and clearing the lump in your throat. That was not at all what you had expected him to say of all things. You put down the water bottle as you gave him a serious look. "Listen, I have nothing against you, but I do think you aren't the type of Pokemon for me. You seem too carefree to take any sort of training seriously."
Applin looked on the verge of tears at your blunt statement. The sight made you regret your words as you quickly said anything before he could burst into tears. "D-Don't cry! Umm... how about this... I'll think about it if you can show me you are serious about training while I'm back for summer vacation. How about that?"
The tears instantly disappeared from his eyes as he gave you a beaming smile of joy. "Really?! Then I'll get started right away! You won't be disappointed!"
"Just don't-"
Already too late as he knocked over the basket of apples, but he quickly was able to balance it back up as only a little bit of apples escaped. He gave you an embarrassed chuckle before darting out into the tree branches out of sight.
You sighed and continued munching on your sandwich. "This is going to be an interesting summer vacation..."
