The Big Day (Part 7)
"That stuff?" I asked her, she pulled herself away, but I grabbed her hand, intertwining her fingers with mine. I didn't want to let her out of my sight. I wanted her just to stay here and be safe and ok.
"Guys forcing girls to their will. That stuff." Melody said. "Can we not talk about it now?" She asked me, quickly afterwards.
"Yeah sure, totally not talking about it right now." I said, trying to get a laugh out of her. She rolled her eyes and smiled.
"You're the biggest idiot on earth." She told me.
"I carry the role highly." I told her. A thought raced through my mind, racing around. "Do you want to dance?" I asked her. The thought stopped suddenly and I swear if it could tap it's foot and cross it's arms it would.
"Yeah." She said lightly. I lead her to the dance floor, and in a small little corner that was all ours we danced around. My hands around her waist, and her arms around my neck. I got another funny feeling in my stomach, but this time it wasn't because of dread, it was simply nervousness. That I could tell, but why? It was only Melody. It was only Melody. Just Melody. Exactly, it was Melody. Only Melody. I didn't understand why I was so nervous, why I was so clammed up.
Course two was announced after the song finished, so we walked over to our own table, and got eating the second course meal. Melody and her vegetarian nibble food, salads and potatoes. I dug into the roasted chicken with the mashed potatoes on the side.
"You're eating an animal that was once living." Melody stated as she watched me eat the chicken in pure disgust.
"But now he's dead." I said continuing our usual argument.
"But he was alive." Melody said.
"He tastes wonderful." I told her.
"That's disgusting." She stated.
"This chicken sure isn't." I told her. Melody rolled her eyes and let the common argument we had die. Alice, who had been gone for awhile, walked over to the table. A figure was next to her, having a pasted smile on his face.
"Kyle look who I found, this is Jacob, he goes to the same school that you'll be going to." Alice told me. Seeing the guy again, just made my blood start to boil.
"Yeah we've met, we hit it right off." Jacob said.
"Yeah, we hit it right off. Literally. We punched each other." I said as plain as day. Jacob flashed me a cold glare, I had no idea what he wanted to gain from this, but he sure wasn't going to get it.
"Excuse me?" Alice asked.
"Jacob, would you be so kind to explain?" I asked him, acting like I was some teacher asking a stupid question. That one teacher that picks on that one kid that knows nothing.
"We had fun." Jacob said, his teeth clenched. He kept flashing me a look to shut up, but I continued to ignore him.
"You see, he managed to make a girl very uncomfortable, and after she said stop half a million times, what did he do? He continued to do whatever the heck he was doing." I told Alice.
"How would you know that happened then?" Jacob challenged. "I mean if it was just a random girl that you don't care about." Alice's eyes flickered to Melody, she knew.
"Doesn't matter who it was, I would have done the same thing ether way." I shot back at him.
"What did you exactly do?" Alice asked me.
"Well I beat the living lights out of him." I told her.
"You did not!" Jacob insisted.
"I wasn't the one on the floor after a few punches." I said.
"It's not like I didn't punch you back." He insisted.
"Too had it didn't hurt." I told him.
"You little-"
"We're going to go and find your parents now." Alice said. She dragged Jacob off, probably wishing she never found the guy in the first place. Just then Zach came over to us.
"What was all that about?" He asked.
"Nothing." Melody and I said at the same time.
"Great, so secrets are being kept now." Zach said rolling his eyes.
"Oh just go play with your football." Melody told him.
"I got it taken away." Zach mumbled.
"Well you did take a football to a wedding." I told him.
"The waiter didn't have to steal it though." Zach mumbled again.
"A waiter took it away?" Melody asked.
"Well yeah, I kicked it and Kelley didn't catch it-"
"You expected Kelley to catch it?"
"I was desperate to play with someone ok? But she didn't catch it, so it bounced on the concrete and then kinda landed on the waiter's head.
"Kinda?" Melody asked laughing.
"Well then it landed in the bowl of soup he was carrying." Zach said, by then Melody and I lost it and burst out into a fit of laughter. "Guys! This isn't funny! I got my football taken away!" Zach said stomping his foot.
"You played with Kelley, that's your fault." Melody said, laughing all over again.
"Kyle, I didn't think that I would have to give you another speech on how you don't go around punching guys. I thought a few more times to Minho-"
"Hey!"
"-but not you." Alice finished after Minho interrupted her. "Minho lets me honest here." Alice said, looking over at Minho.
"It's for a good reason." Minho said.
"None of you are allowed to go punching people, use your words." Alice said.
"What happens when that doesn't work?" Minho said.
"Then you try again." Alice said.
"But when that fails, you can use your fist?" Minho asked, trying to get anywhere.
"No!" Alice insisted.
"Ughh."
