Panic
"Where are you going?" Mum asks as I enter the kitchen.
"Adam's" I reply, I know what she's doing she thinks I'm going to see Lachlan but I did that this morning.
"Right and when will you be back?" She questions.
"I don't know mum, You can call Adam if you don't believe that's where I'm going." I say getting annoyed.
"No, It's fine just don't be too late." She replies.
I say goodbye before walking over to Adam's, It's a little awkward at first once I notice robert sitting at the table with Adam and Vic.
"I'm ... Sorry about the café and that." I say awkwardly to Robert.
"It's fine good practice for the kids at school." He says jokingly.
"Robert! That's not funny." Victoria tells him angrily.
"How is school anyway?" Victoria then asks.
"Yeah Good." I lie. Victoria and Robert both smile but I'm trying not to look in Adam's direction.
"Good because remember you don't have to lie to us anymore." Adam tells me.
"I'm not, It's fine." I reply although I can feel my body tensing at the fact he knows I'm lying.
Victoria and Robert continue talking about the burger van and how Robert messed something up with Aaron but Adam's just looking at me.
He gives me the look. The look that says he knows I'm lying, the look that's begging me to tell him the truth. The look that means he won't be mad at me. My phone vibrates on the table and I pick it up glancing at the message.
Before I know it I'm running up the stairs, I lock the bathroom door behind me and pull my knees up to my chest. I sit there for a while before a knock comes at the door.
"Georgie, I've seen the messages. Talk to me" Adam calls from the other side of the door.
"You had no right to go through my phone." I shout back at him standing up, unlocking the door and swinging it open.
"I'm sorry but you just ran off, I didn't know what was up." Adam tells me.
"That's not the point, there's personal stuff on there." I shout at him.
"Look I'm sorry ok but you have to tell someone." He replies.
"NO! Adam you can't tell anyone" I say almost hysterically.
"Georgie, this is bulling. We need to talk to the police." Adam calmly tells me taking hold of my arm but I pull away frantically.
We go into the bathroom and close the door behind us. I don't think Adam wanted the others to hear our argument.
"This isn't going to stop unless you talk to someone." Adam calmly tells me.
"This isn't going away at all, It'll just get worse." I shout at him, punching the wall to let out my anger.
"Calm down" Adam says panicking and trying to pull me away from the wall but it doesn't work.
"No Adam, you can't do this. You can't tell anyone. It'll just get worse." I shout back at him.
"Worse then what? Worse then being bullied?" He questioned.
"You must have seen what they wrote about mum, I can't let them leak that" I say through tears still punching the wall although I seem to be getting weaker.
"It's not true though Georgie, you must know that." Adam replies.
"I can't put her through that Adam, She could go to jail." I say slowly sliding down the wall and crying into my hands.
"You know mum wouldn't care as long as her baby girl was ok." Adam tells me sitting beside me.
"No Adam, you weren't even supposed to find out, we tell no one and it goes away" I try to convince him.
"It doesn't though does it, they continue to bully you. Anyway with me knowing there is a risk that they leak, Mum should at least know why she's going down." Adam replies.
"I can't do this Adam, not after everything, she'll hate me." I say sobbing.
My phone vibrated once more In Adam's hand.
"This is going to stop." Adam said standing up. "We're going to have to tell mum." He adds holding his hand out to me.
I stand up nervously as he takes my hand in his and we go downstairs.
"What was all that about?" Robert questions as we reach the bottom.
"Nothing. Okay you heard nothing" Adam replies smiling at me.
"Got it. I don't want another battering." Robert says trying to lighten the awkward situation.
"I'm just going to take Squirt home. Be back soon" Adam says with his fake smile.
"Now" I whisper becoming more nervous as we exit the house.
"Yeah, with you it's now or never." Adam replies. He had a point I did tend to find a way of wriggling out of things I didn't want to do given half the chance.
