You could feel tears pour down your cheeks, your body stiffens and your breath begins to speed up. A quiet, scared whimper escapes your lips and you scrunch close your eyes. You gasp when the man makes a loud noise. Your eyes fly open to see the man staring at you, his eyes wide and his mouth hanging open. When the man begins to collapse you take a large step back. A gasp escapes your lips when you see the sickle sticking out of the man's back.

You look up to see a man standing just behind the now fallen thief. He had the Blood Kingdom's knight outfit on; he was about your height and an albino. He looked angry as he glares down at the man.

"Disgusting filth." He growls.

You quickly button up your shirt and run a hand through Rose's fur comfortingly.

"Um, thank you." You say to the man.

He looks up at you and his scowl softens, "no problem," he nods, "it's a knight's duty to protect the innocent."

"Well, would have been in a lot of trouble if it wasn't for you." Eridan speaks up, standing beside you.

"I've been seeing way to many people with those things." The knight growls, pulling the sickle from the dead thief's back, wiping it off on his shirt.

"So, you don't look like locals, what brings you here?" the knight asks.

"Oh, well..." Eridan tries to make an excuse.

"We're on our way to the Rage Kingdom," you say bluntly, "we need to get across the river so we came here."

The knight looks shocked as he stares at you wide eyes. You look over at Eridan to see that he was also shocked, probably over the fact that you had just told a stranger your plans.

"The Rage Kingdom?" the knight asks.

"Yep." You nod, looking back at him.

The three of you fall into silence. You sort of have a staring contest with the knight, before he closes his eyes.

"Well, I'll leave you to it." The knight says and turns around to walk off.

Once he's gone you look over at Eridan.

"Why'd you tell him?" Eridan asks.

You shrug and walk out of the alley. You look around until your eyes come across the inn. You walk towards it and walk in. Eridan enters a few moments after you.

"Alright, let's get a place to sleep."

The first thing you do when you enter the room is drop your bag and staff and collapse face first onto the bed. You hear Rose meow is shock before jumping off of you. You hear Eridan drop his bag beside yours and sit on his own bed.

Although you tried to get two separate rooms, you were told that it was cheaper to get a shared room. And Eridan wanted to save his coins, so you were yet again, stuck sleeping with Eridan. But at least time there was more room than the tent.

You roll over onto your back, staring at the ceiling.

"So, do you want to go eat out?" you ask.

"We can go out to eat." Eridan eventually replies.

"Yay!" you cheer, throwing your hands in the air lazily.

You hear Eridan stand up from his bed. A moment later, a hand comes into your vision. You grab it and Eridan heaves you up. You get pulled up, but lean against Eridan's chest. Eridan's arms quickly wrap around your waist.

"Seriously?!" Eridan whines as he continues to hold you.

"Yep." You sigh.

After a moment you get back onto your feet and Eridan's arms leave your waist.

"Alright, let's go eat!" you say excitedly, bounding for the door.

What you don't notice is Eridan roll his eye with a smile.

You sat down on the seat comfortably and pick up the small menu that sat on the table. Eridan, who was sat across from you, does the same. Neither of you talk as you look over the menu. A moment later a man walks up to the table.

"Hi, what can I get you?" he asks.

"I'll get the roast Chameleon Boar." You reply.

"And I'll get the same." Eridan nods.

"You're meal will be here shortly." The waiter says and walks off.

Once he walks off the two of you are left in silence. Although it wasn't really an uncomfortable silence, you both just didn't have anything to say at the moment.

About 10 minutes later he waiter returns with your meals. You lick your lips in delight at the large piece of meat that sat before you. You instantly dig in. It felt so good to eat this; it was much more preferable than what you had been eating the past few days.

'Oh dear,' you think, 'I'll have to get some good food for Rose when I return.'

Your thoughts then travel back to how good the food tasted. You pause eating when you notice Eridan staring at you.

"What?" you ask, swallowing you mouthful.

"Nothing." Eridan says, shaking his head as he goes back to eating.

You just shrug and continue to eat.

Once you finish eating you sigh in happiness. Your stomach was full and you were sleepy. You glance over at Eridan to see that he had also finished eating.

"So, are you ready to go?" Eridan asks.

You then nod and the pair of you stands up. Eridan sits a few gold coins down on the table and the pair of you head out.

As the pair of you are walking you notice a butcher shop.

"Hey Eridan, can we stop in there to get Rose some meant?" you ask him.

"Sure." Eridan nods.

The pair of you walks in to the still open butchers.

"Hi, how can I help you?" the butcher asks.

"Can I please get some ice trout?" You ask.

"Of course, that'll be three silver pieces." The butcher says as he wraps up the pieces of fish.

Just as you were about to pull out the rest of your money to pay for it Eridan quickly hands the man some money and takes the fish.

"Thank you." You tell the butcher as Eridan tugs you along.

"You know you didn't have to do that." You smile up at the taller figure.

Eridan just shrugs as he continues to walk.

You sigh in relief when you arrive back at the hotel. You feel something pressed into one of your hands. You look up to see the packet of fish in your hand. You bring your hands back down and begin to open it.

"Here Rose." You speak up as you sit down the open pack.

'Oh, thank you.' Rose meows and begins to eat.

You slip off your shoes and walk over to one of the single beds. You flop down onto it and slip into the blankets. You hear Eridan lay down on the other bed.

"Good night Eridan." You mumble as your eyes close.

"Good night (y/n)."
